Every time we come to Lake Murray, we always make sure to eat at The Lookout--and we're never disappointed. The views of the lake are beautiful, and the food is always hearty, with good-sized portions and lots of flavor. The service is consistently good, but yesterday our waitress, Cindy, really stood out. She was super attentive, helpful, and just genuinely pleasant. We pulled up to the dock in our boat and walked right up to eat, which just adds to the whole experience. We're taking family out on the boat today and plan to do it all over again. We'll definitely be back every time we come to Lake Murray! read more

The fried okra was 'okay'. Everything else was well below average. The fish wasn't tasteful and actually a kind of a gross gelatinous mess. The appetizer, chips and dips, was below average. Pretty much nothing was anything special. Service was slow for an almost empty time of day. Us and one other couple. Was never asked if everything was okay. I would think me asking for my check with most of my food uneaten and telling him I didn't want a to go would have sent up a red flag. Also after we had ordered we were informed if we would leave a 5 star review before we o got our food they would give us a free appetizer, which I didn't take up the offer. Now I'm glad I didn't. Ambiance is what you would expect for a new restaurant at a state park. Views of Lake Murray were the draw for stopping in. Understand the reviews. This restaurant is in Southern Oklahoma, on a State Lake attached to a State Lodge. Staffing can be seasonal, and you never know if it will be slammed or dead. In a sea of Tex-Mex, fried catfish, and fried everything else, this is a refreshing addition to the area. We decided to sit outside on the patio, which is just off the water with the beautiful lodge behind us. Even though it was 100 degrees all day, they had fans going, and it felt comfortable. We started with a Caesar salad, which was hands down the best Caesar in the area. Fresh ingredients, a nice amount of parmesan cheese, croutons, and dressing. We had iced tea and lemonade for drinks. We went with the Large Pepperoni Pizza. It was perfection and super tasty. We finished off the evening with turtle cheesecake that was small but really yummy. Our waitress was helpful and efficient, and some of the other team members pitched in to help as well. The Lookout is now added to one of our spots to hit on the regular. read more

Great Food, awesome view and good service! We ate here 3 times on our weekend stay at Lake Murray Lodge. We had very friendly service from everyone! One of the nights we called in close to closing time to order some pizzas and they happily made them for us! The HOT Honey pizza I highly recommend! We ventured over to this restaurant at the Lake Murray State Park Lodge after setting up our RV in the park. We were tired and hungry and in need of a drink. Our waiter, Terry, was friendly, fast and very gracious. I had the small fried fish platter, which was terrific! The salad was fresh, the fish was excellent and the fried okra were crisp and tasty. My husband's spaghetti with meatballs pleased him, though I thought there was too much tomato paste in the sauce. The meatballs were good though, and the drinks hit the spot. The view of the lake is fabulous, from anywhere in the restaurant. It's so much better than the parks that have Aramark (like Big Bend National Park) as the concessionaire! So went there for the 1st time and I was satisfied with what I got. Really wanted the blanco queso fries, but they didn't have any queso, . My wife had the cheese burger which I thought was a bit small, but it was ok, not great. The cheese sticks were amazing and absolutely enjoyed those. Visited around 7PM on a Saturday. Restaurant was about 1/2 full with young lady providing live music and a gentleman going around tables doing magic tricks. Was informed soda machine not working, so all sodas would be what they have in cans. Ordered fruit as side for chicken tenders and told they were out of fruit. Every 1/2 hour waitress came by apologizing for kitchen delay. After 1 hr she said Manager wanted to stop by about delay. 1 hr later waitress placed a $0 bill on the table and said food would be out soon, but meals were now on-the-house. Food arrived at 9:05 PM and was difficult to eat and poorly prepared. Kitchen obviously forgot to prepare our meals, but saddest part was Manager never stopped by our table to apologize or discussed. They made waitress do everything and she was very stressed. They need to put up a sign telling where the "Hostess Station" is located. Sign at door says to go to the station to be seated, but everyone stood at the door wondering what to do. If you visit, station is where the register sits with their back to the door. Menu did not scream welcome to the lake. It was very generic like any other restaurant. Would also be great if they had some deserts or sweets. read more

Waiters are super friendly and helpful. The view is amazing, Definitely worthwhile. the food was good. I can tell that the new owners are putting a lot of though on the small things starting with the mason jar cups, the modern black plates, and the heavy duty but modern utensils. While this place just opened up you can tell the staff is still learning and unfortunately makes small mistakes. Take that into consideration when you are visiting a local restaurant. We came for a late lunch! It was a really nice day but cloudy . We had lunch on the deck and the water was so peaceful and soothing. We had the chicken tender dinner and catfish dinner and both were fantastic, fresh not frozen!!! Also the sweet potato fries and fried okra were perfect. We begin our evening sitting outside on a Wednesday evening with a couple sitting inside, a couple finishing their meal next to us, and a table of six, also outside. Ten minutes later, someone finally came to take our drink orders. We also gave her our main entree orders, 1) chicken tenders with mashed potatoes with gravy on the side, fried okra, 2) patty melt with fries... easy enough, right? 25 min later, the server brings the chicken tenders with gravy on the potatoes and no okra. Hmm. "I forgot what you wanted..". Didn't write anything down anytime she came to the table... asked her to take the chicken back and keep it under the warming lights. 10 minutes later, she brings us one glass of red wine and says that it was just opened yesterday. 20 min later, here comes the patty melt on toast, dry hamburgers, no thousand island dressing with crinkle fries that are actually hot. Chicken tenders were nice but the gravy was cold, later warmed up, and the potatoes were ice cold. The okra you ask? She brought a bowl of what looked like penne with cheese. This was the worst patty melt I've ever had... This was our fourth time to try The Lookout... the first time we had the catfish which was good as was the service. The second time, I tried the grilled chicken breast... overcooked and incredibly dry. Last time I had the catfish and a couple of my friends had the chicken fried steak which was over cooked and burned on the breading... but the service was nice. Tonight was a disaster. read more

we came here 2x's in one day. once for breakfast and once for dinner! the biscuits and gravy were sooo good. i liked that the sausage patties were actually on top of the biscuits, drenched in the gravy--it was different, i'd not had it like that before! my bf got the pancakes and he said it was the best pancakes he'd ever had in his life! we went back for dinner and i got the hot honey pizza. IT WAS THE BEST HOT HONEY PIZZA! better than Marco's, hands down. i also got a strawberry drink, but i can't remember the name. it was 9% alcohol per the can and very tasty! my bf had the burger with fries and he said it was really good! the ambience of the state lodge are what make this location! we went to Lookout Kitchen at Robber's Cave, but didn't enjoy the food/service as much as we did this location. we were served by both Erica and Brittany and will definitely ask for them again in the future. read more

We just stopped in for our second chance. We ended up leaving after standing at the hostess desk for more than 5 minutes without being acknowledged. A couple of waitress walked by. They looked pretty busy. I think maybe they were the only two working. But they avoided looking in our direction. A simple look and calling out we'll be right with you would be appropriate. We might have waited longer, but another woman came up behind us. She had already been seated, but her table had been waiting for 25 minutes to place an order. So she was going up to the hostess desk to see if anyone would be willing to take it there. That was our cue to give up. We came a month or more ago. I didn't leave a review then because I figured they were working out the kinks. Service was better that day. But our cheese sticks came out nearly still frozen in the middle. They did replace those and apologized. My daughter and I ordered a pasta dish. We were both like meh. Kind of reminded me of Applebee's pasta. Tastes like frozen that's been warmed up. My sons chicken strips were pretty good. The best thing was my husband's burger. It was delicious! I probably would have given 3 stars our last visit. After church yesterday I decided to surprise my wife with lunch by the lake. It started pretty hopeful with good tea and a great view. It went down hill fast. We waited forever for garlic knots that didn't seemed very cooked. Then waited thirty more minutes for a pizza that I ordered well done. One bite and I was over it. Raw pizza dough. Then my wife got spaghetti with extra sauce. There was a blob of what looked like a whole can of tomato paste setting on top of noodle. After spending over sixty bucks I decided to put a piece of pizza in my air fryer at home. I put in at 375 for about fifteen minutes. It was pretty decent after it was actually cooked. Not worth the risk of going back. Cafe Alley is the only safe bet in Ardmore. read more

We own a business down the road. We work with the public regularly, so we're over forgiving of mistakes we know they happen. I will say our waiter here has been great, we've been 5-6 times now, and he's always so polite. However the food unfortunately is just sub par. We always feel like we over pay, and the food under delivers. And we're not cheap by any means when it comes to good food. Most of the time it's empty during the hours we visit, so service is fine. But the two times we've been and they were packed it was super loud and our food took forever. Idk I'm just not a fan and I hate it because it's so close !!!! The food was fresh and the view is FABULOUS. The restaurant was pretty understaffed so every step took just a little longer than it should, which added to a longer visit than we wanted, which cut into our lake time for the day trip. The next time we'll streamline our asks/orders so the overburdened server can do their job more efficiently. Hope management staffs up soon! read more

My wife and I stopped in after playing mini Golf. The visit was very poor. here is why. 1. NO A/C ( it was hotter inside the restaurant than outside. 2. The food. Very poor. My fries were not fresh. They looked like the grissle fries that sat in the oil tray. Horrible. The pizza was average at best. edible but not worth the $$$. 3. The staff. Our server had no personality or urgency to assist us. Looked very high (marijuana high) seemed zoned out. none of the servers seemed helpful at all. The kitchen cook looked like a recovering meth head. Could be why our food was poor. 4. Tables were dirty and a mess. Had to wipe our seats off since they had food on them. 5. don't like paying at the table. The server stands there and waits to see how much u r going to tip. Very unprofessional. You all need a different setup to pay. Overall a very unwelcoming establishment. I have worked in the retail and hotel/restaurant business for 4 decades, so im not just throwing shade for giggles. This was bad. My wife and I WONT be back. If I was the owner I would fire every server you have and actually hire people that know what it means to serve professionally, respectfully and earn the tips received. I came in for the Fourth of July, and the owners were both there. My server was Brittany R she was super sweet. She took amazing care of me. She was good with my kids. She was super apologetic about the wait due to the fact that they were busy. but the thing I noticed the most while I was there was the fact that the owners are absolutely rude, hateful and disrespectful to their employees. I wanted to go buy a chessboard out of the gift shop because it was a really good deal for only $20 but when they ring it in it rang in as $80 they forgot to take the sticker off from where they bought it from and how much they bought it for, I do not suggest going there. They overcharged like crazy and the owners are disrespectful and do not take care of their employees. read more
