The best fried catfish I've had in years! Great homestyle fries and hushpuppies. Awesome food! Awesome service! :)

Wonderful spot for catfish and fried pies. A little bit off the beaten path, but well worth finding as it's only a few minutes from the interstate. The service is friendly the vibe is homestyle. The hush puppies that come out at first are great. These were hot and perfect. Also included in the catfish setup are pickles, pickled tomatoes , onions, peppers and slaw but you have to ask for onions and lemons if you want them. The catfish comes with long cut fries. They were fine, but the catfish was the star. Some of the best I've ever had, for certain. The breading was perfect , with a perfect spice blend. The crunch was exactly what I wanted, and the catfish was served hot and freshly fried. The fried pies were also delicious, so save room for dessert.

I happened along this place by accident, breaking down on the 35 and desperately needing something to eat, it must've been divine intervention. It's tucked back off the highway but it's well worth the detour. My family and I ordered the catfish dinner and we were all in agreement that it was some of the most flavorful catfish we've ever had. The waitress brought out coleslaw and hush puppies with tartar sauce before the meal came out. I figured I would try it even though I didn't like coleslaw, and now McGeehee's catfish restaurant has the only coleslaw I have ever liked. The hush puppies were also amazing. The service from the owner and the waitress was amazing and the view of the valley overlooking the red river was to die for. I'm going to be coming back here Every chance I get with my family from now on.

McGehee'e was an exceptional place to go for all you can eat catfish! We went there for Father's Day this year and it did not disappoint. The parking lot was full once they opened and never slowed after. When inside, you are sat at a table and can either get the all you can eat catfish or a variety of other meals offered. There also is a spot where you can sit by the windows and capture the view of the Red River while you enjoy your meal. We settled for the all you can eat catfish and were overwhelmed by all we received. Catfish filets, pickled tomatoes, slaw, and fresh cut French fries. The waitstaff was great despite the busy crowd. To top it off, we were graced with the presence of Randy Travis and his family! Definitely a must visit place!!

We decided to take a trip to go to the catfish restaurant and winstar. The restaurant it only open four days a week and on Sundays they don't open till one. We were the first customers in the restaurant we were greeted by the owner, who said sit anywhere . A sweet waitress, then took our orders and come to find out, she was the owners granddaughter, we both got the all you can eat catfish with all the sides. The coleslaw was great. The chow chow was very good the home cook fries were hot and not greasy and the cat fish was piping hot They also brought out hush puppies, which were hot but very very dense. I could not break them open with my fingers. I had to always cut them apart. My husband made a point saying what they need is butter The restaurant is rustic some thing you would see like in Branson's, but it didn't bother us a bit. The restaurant filled up quickly, but the waitress kept up bringing us whatever we needed. We were stuffed when we left. We would come back to eat here especially if we were traveling that direction

Had to come back to see if still the best catfish and fixings we have had and yes it was. Delicious worth the drive even from Dallas.

The catfish is spot on!! The hush puppies and coslaw, along with spiced green tomatoes are also wonderful additions. The staff is very friendly and service was good. It is a quaint place sitting up on the bluff above Red River Valley and has been with the same family for a very long time. That brings me to why I took off one star for the fact that there could be a little bit of updating such as new flooring to help the place seem a bit fresher. The only other issue we had with our meal was that the T-bone steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well, however the flavor was still very good. Definitely worth the drive for great catfish and a nice day trip.

I had been wanting to come here for years, finally made it. I hate to say this, but I was disappointed. We went on a Sunday - there was no menu, only option was just all you can eat catfish for $17 and change. All you can eat includes the catfish, fries, coleslaw, green tomato pickles, and hush puppies. The sides were good - I don't think any were made from scratch though. The fries were soggy/greasy. The catfish was okay, but not good enough for the price and to make the off the beaten path drive to get th I think this might be a restaurant struggling to hang on. Maybe it will make it.

We started with half a dozen raw oysters and they were fresh and delicious! We also ordered a dozen grilled oysters. They were okay, but nothing spectacular and probably not something we would order again. Hubby ordered the fish special that was on the board that day. I can't remember exactly which fish it was, but he said it was just okay. I ordered the snow crab with Cajun butter and unfortunately this was the biggest disappointment. The crab meat was extremely mushy and the texture was just not good at all. I tried several different legs from the cluster just to make sure it wasn't only one bad piece, but they were all the same, so I couldn't finish it. The corn that came with it also tasted old and had a strange sour taste, so I didn't eat that either. The Dragon Fruit Pineapple Mojito, however, was DELICIOUS! Definitely one of the highlights of the meal and I would absolutely order that again. One thing that was a little strange was the timing. Considering how slow it was when we were there, the food seemed to take a little longer than expected to come out, and my drinks took even longer. Overall, it was a mixed experience for us. The raw oysters and mojito were great, the grilled oysters and fish special were just okay, and unfortunately the snow crab entrée was a definite miss. I'm willing to give Anaya's another try and order something completely different if we happen to be in the area, but based on this visit, I wouldn't make a special trip back just to eat here.
