I happened along this place by accident, breaking down on the 35 and desperately needing something to eat, it must've been divine intervention. It's tucked back off the highway but it's well worth the detour. My family and I ordered the catfish dinner and we were all in agreement that it was some of the most flavorful catfish we've ever had. The waitress brought out coleslaw and hush puppies with tartar sauce before the meal came out. I figured I would try it even though I didn't like coleslaw, and now McGeehee's catfish restaurant has the only coleslaw I have ever liked. The hush puppies were also amazing. The service from the owner and the waitress was amazing and the view of the valley overlooking the red river was to die for. Out of the way but worth the drive to Marietta, OK. Little place in the country, right on the banks of a river. Decor is simple and a little dated but perfect for a country outpost. Quick, efficient service with a pretty nice menu from catfish, which they are famous for, to steaks. The place farm raises their own fish, makes it the freshest you will find. Fried perfectly with a light batter, moist and tender, it tastes wonderful. The hand cut fries are double fried making them crispy outside and soft inside. Coke slaw was finely chopped with a tart, slightly sweet taste. The best hush puppies I've ever had. They also served a green tomato chow chow that was surprisingly good. I gave them 4 stars because the servers sat down for their dinner during our meal. Seeing them eating the same food we were was great, but licking their fingers, not so much. McGehee'e was an exceptional place to go for all you can eat catfish! We went there for Father's Day this year and it did not disappoint. The parking lot was full once they opened and never slowed after. When inside, you are sat at a table and can either get the all you can eat catfish or a variety of other meals offered. There also is a spot where you can sit by the windows and capture the view of the Red River while you enjoy your meal. Excellent catfish dinners with tomato relish and fresh cut fries. We had assorted fried pies for dessert; very flaky.

We decided to take a trip to go to the catfish restaurant and winstar. The restaurant it only open four days a week and on Sundays they don't open till one. We were the first customers in the restaurant we were greeted by the owner, who said sit anywhere . A sweet waitress, then took our orders and come to find out, she was the owners granddaughter, we both got the all you can eat catfish with all the sides. The coleslaw was great. The chow chow was very good the home cook fries were hot and not greasy and the cat fish was piping hot They also brought out hush puppies, which were hot but very very dense. I could not break them open with my fingers. I had to always cut them apart. My husband made a point saying what they need is butter The restaurant is rustic some thing you would see like in Branson's, but it didn't bother us a bit. The restaurant filled up quickly, but the waitress kept up bringing us whatever we needed. We were stuffed when we left. I was so disappointed...the fish was overcooked...it did no good to get the "all you can eat" deal because you had to wait over 30 minutes for the next batch to be brought out. Our drinks were NEVER refilled...They NEVER brought our ticket. Bad food, bad service, but the wait staff was nice IF YOU GOT THEIR ATTENTION and the view was great. The catfish is spot on!! The hush puppies and coslaw, along with spiced green tomatoes are also wonderful additions. The staff is very friendly and service was good. It is a quaint place sitting up on the bluff above Red River Valley and has been with the same family for a very long time. That brings me to why I took off one star for the fact that there could be a little bit of updating such as new flooring to help the place seem a bit fresher. The only other issue we had with our meal was that the T-bone steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well, however the flavor was still very good. I had been wanting to come here for years, finally made it. I hate to say this, but I was disappointed. We went on a Sunday - there was no menu, only option was just all you can eat catfish for $17 and change. All you can eat includes the catfish, fries, coleslaw, green tomato pickles, and hush puppies. The sides were good - I don't think any were made from scratch though. The fries were soggy/greasy. I lived less than 7 miles from the restaurant for 30 years. We ate there about twice a month. We moved due to health issues but love the food so much I drive there to eat as often as I can. The catfish is amazing cooked to perfection and the fries are a good reason to go by themselves. I used to buy the tomato relish by the jar delicious with red beans too. The view is beautiful of the Red River and they have an area where people from all over fly in to eat. Read about the history. When we first ate there their fish was raised on the property. It is a great story. It is rustic and so don't expect fancy decor. It is part of Marietta's country ambience. I highly recommend the food and day trip. read more

Heard about this place in passing after a road trip to watch the Oklahoma - texas game in Dallas. It's completely off the beaten path, and tucked away on the Red River. I literally flew into Dallas and rented a car to visit Oklahoma City so I could stop in here and eat a painful amount of fried catfish. Their breading is light and crispy on the catfish, I get the all you can eat option. The sides are almost worth the trip by themselves, pickled green tomato relish, slaw, hush puppies and natural cut fries. It really is worth the trip off I-35. read more

The drive to the restaurant, as mentioned, is a bit off the path but only a few minutes away from the highway and worth the beautiful detour. The restaurant sits on the hill of the river and has great views! You'll take a drive through a residential area but signs will keep you on the right path. The menu is all you can eat catfish, with just a few other options like hamburgers & chicken fingers to choose from. Fish & fries are served family style on a large platter, with sides of hush puppies, green tomato relish, and coleslaw. Omg the green tomato relish - why have I never had this before?! So good. Lovely scenery, last few times I've been there a helicopter has landed for military people to eat, which kids just go crazy for. The catfish is so so good, but last time I went it tasted less fresh. Only real complaint is if you sit at a window seat the tarter sauce is bad because it's left in bottles that are hit by the sun. Food is amazing. The catfish and sall the sides are so yummy!! Service is great! Everyone is super friendly. Giving 4 stars because the last 2 times we drove out from TX they were not open. First time it was our fault, we didn't look at the updated hours. Second time they closed early (Sunday hours 1-7 we arrived at 6). I was so disappointed. I had my heart set on having the best fried catfish ever all week!! There was a guy who arrived the same time we did who drove from Rockwall TX . He was meeting friends there and had to call them and tell them not to come. I went on a ride with our motorcycle group from church up to McGehee's today. My first time up there. We got there about 15 minutes before they opened, which they did right on time. They even asked us how many in our party before they opened so they could have it setup for us. (There was about 24 of us). Most of us ordered the catfish, and they started bringing out the coleslaw, tomatoes, etc right away so we had something to snack on until the fried items were ready. Other people arrived immediately after us and the place got a bit busier, but the service was still quite good. Family style service is great, and we all got quite full :) All the food was quite good. I'm not the type of person that craves catfish, but I really liked theirs. It had a fresh light batter and was very good. I'm also not a huge coleslaw fan, but theirs was among the best I've had. Don't give up, this place is tough to find if you follow the GPS. Just watch for signs. Little tiny driveway looking road is correct. Opens up to a quaint little place. A lot of potential here. Catfish was OK, I've had better. The green tomato relish was yummy with the catfish. We went late, and the fries were a little soggy/greasy and the "grill" was shut down, so there were no burgers or steaks :-( If we try it again I'll re-review. read more

Very cool lil joint. Just a down-home dive! Disregard JP's review! I grew up on fried catfish and this was very good. It's in the middle of no where though! Tomato relish is very good, sweet and cool. The coleslaw is nice and sweet as well. Hush puppies are avg. The fried catfish was great. Cooked just right. Light brown with a nice crunch and tender inside. Fried cherry cheesecake pie for the road makes one happy camper here! Next time I'm going for a steak.
