My food, the coconut shrimp, was perfectly cooked and good value. The water was served in glasses and was delicious. Really cute place.

So while its not fine dining or the…read moreideal atmosphere (with its funny 80's plastic table covers ), Uncle J's is a wonderful representation of the small village it resides in. I enjoyed the flatbread pizza, largely due to the flatbread itself. I have noticed a large void of good pizza crust in this area and surrounding villages, so this scratched that itch. The fried pickles were bar food at its best. A crisp, spear, rendition instead of the flimsy pickle chips found in many diners. They make their own dressings and the blue cheese dressing alone will bring me back. The fries were also good, but the margaritas could use some work. The mix tastes like gatorade, so still drinkable, but if the homemade nuance from that crave-worthy blue cheese dressing could be applied, it would be a lovely elevation and bring me back more than my budget should allow. The music on Thursday at their first strings and wings was F*#$ing fantastic!! I did not catch the performers name, but folks, come with cash for tips because this artist brought his A game. Multi-genre, great guitar skills, and a fabulous voice. We sat in the dining because the bar area is a bit small for eating, but we could hear him perfectly and it made the night. This event with the crowd spread them thin and tested the kitchen, but besides a "relaxed" pace of the food coming out, there was no impact to service and everyone was lovely. We must support these local gems if we want them in our backyard. So while I will be a thorn in their side trying to push for an upgraded cocktail experience, I will also be a devout local advocating for my community to be the same. Well done Uncle J's!

Just a few barflies sitting in the front room, so we went into the dining room which was empty. Our server/bartender was very attentive and great. Guinness was properly poured too. We ordered the steak tips main and the chicken riggies main. Each came with a salad and a small loaf of bread for the whole table to share. Salads were fresh and crunchy. Bread was fresh and soft. Portions were massive and the riggies were a bit hit. The steak was overdone, but ok. The gravy on top however was an odd color and texture without much flavor other than a slight sour tang. The dish would have been better served without the gravy. In any case, we were too full for dessert.

I had the ribs once and they weren't great either. I really want to see how they cook steak so I will probalby get it next time. I like Hazy IPAs, I wish they would get Westkill or something similar and replace Fiddlehead. Fiddlehead is old school NEIPA. The prices are very good and I the atmosphere is family oriented and very friendly IMO. Whenever I'm in Windham this is where I go. I like the bar a lot if you want to just hang out and enjoy the scene. The outdoor area is really nice too when its not winter. It is definetly the best value in Windham.

Whether you're coming off a long day at Hunter Mountain or just passing through Windham, this spot perfectly balances a rustic, family-friendly atmosphere with a menu that doesn't cut corners. The Butcher Steaks: This isn't just a "chicken joint." They take their beef seriously, offering fresh-cut, flame-grilled steaks like the 24oz Ribeye and NY Strip. They even age their own steaks in-house when available, resulting in a tender, seasoned-to-perfection cut that rivals high-end steakhouses but at much friendlier "mountain prices." The Signature Fried Chicken: This is the restaurant's namesake for a reason. The chicken is consistently hot, crispy, and juicy. Pro tip: Get the combo that comes with their special honey sauce and "cornbread cake." Dipping the savory, salty skin into that honey is a game-changer. BBQ Ribs: If you're looking for "fall-off-the-bone," you found it. Their ribs are slow-cooked and slathered in a rich, tangy sauce that requires a stack of napkins and zero regrets. Save room--or just admit you're having a second dinner--for the homemade desserts. Their dessert bar and soft-serve ice cream are staples, but the real magic happens in the summer (or around the outdoor firepits) with their S'mores kits. It's the perfect way to cap off a mountain day. With a massive backyard featuring a firepit, live music on the weekends, and a "come as you are" dress code, it's easily the best spot for big groups. The service is fast, the portions are massive, and the "old-school country" energy makes you feel like a local the moment you walk in.
