Stopped by yesterday for the outside seating. We were looking forward to upstairs rooftop seatings. But it was closed. So we opted to sit outside downstairs. Our waitress Kira was really nice. I ordered: Patty Melt: 3 stars.. The white toast was very aggressively toasted. Very hard. And it cut the inside of my mouth both top and bottom. And the bacon was extremely tough and chewy. Our experience was good, not great. Decor and atmosphere was fun and what I expected from the outside. Waitstaff was friendly and prompt, but it was the food that was just OK. My husband had the French onion soup, which was rather good, and the Buffalo chicken wrap. He felt the wrap lacked sauce and the amount of chicken in it was sparse. I had the fish tacos which were good, but so much breading there didn't seem to be much fish at all. It was delicious to bite, but not really much substance. This is a relatively new place in Baxter Village...and for some reason, I've been hesitant about trying it, but decided to finally give it a go! The place had a dark, but a cozy decor (loved the big booths with large tables)...and I noticed that they even had a nice patio area, which we may try next time. The menu was quite casual, with mostly hand-held type foods, but more upscaled and exciting than typical bar foods. Not sure why, but I thought this place would be more Asian fusion, but nope - it was way more Mexican than Asian. Also, the menu pricing was quite friendly...especially considering the inflation lately. We started with Bang Bang Grouper Bites...then we both had the Crispy Fish Tacos. For sides, I went with the Sweet Waffle Fries (Oink, Oink!) and my more diet-savvy hubby chose the salad. I was surprisingly happy with the foods, especially the Grouper Bites! The Fish Tacos were really good too, but was surprised that it didn't come with any salsa or some type of red sauce. I also tried this Blueberry Mojito, and now, this was truly awesome...both in taste and presentation! THE thing that was off about this place was the fact that they were out of SO many things...on a weekend night at that! At least 3-4 drink items, a salad sauce, etc.etc. Made me think that they were a bit slack and/or not doing very good (budgeting?). Hopefully next time around, they'll be better stocked with all the items on the menu? Our waitress seemed a bit stressed (overwhelmed?), but she did fine...in that everything arrived in a timely manner. Overall, I liked the place. A Saturday evening in Fort Mill and K got spontaneous and wanted to go somewhere and hear live music and have dinner. A quick scan on Facebook and I found this place was hosting Ryan Bailey, a Brit acoustic musician who plays covers. We met up about 6p and the place was busy but not packed. In Baxter village, they have an easily accessible location with a large shared parking lot. We had the haddock grilled fish tacos on flour tortillas which comes with a side of fries. It came out cold and was just OK, when you're really hungry even cold fries are tasty. I really like the space, located just behind the iconic red brit phone box in the location that was formerly Six Pence Pub. They have a nice open bar area and a large dining room. Just a few TV's over the bar for sports events, it's not really a sports bar. They menu seems to have mostly pub grub and they have a very short list of wines. The service from the seating hostess was a foreshadowing of the service overall, it was spotty at best but she was trying as she was new on the job. Ryan played from 7p to 10p and kept everyone entertained with his expansive knowledge of 80's new wave english beat and a solid understanding of rock favorites from Foo Fighters, Tom Petty to Journey. read more

Visited this place for the first time just recently and enjoyed my lunch. The service was a little slow being that there weren't many people but with all the staffing problems you hear in the hospitality world it didn't bother me. My meal was delicious and I hope they keep the quality and deliciousness of the grouper appetizer on the menu. read more

What more can I say about THE LUCKY DUCK, Besides it would be in your best interest to have a seat and taste test the goodness gracious of variety on the menu. For me, the Tuna Poke w/Kale is amazing. Healthy, yet flavorful. I would argue that this place has THE best truffle fries from Fort Mill to Mooresville. The vibe is friendly. An interesting place. The exterior says "British pub" but the food and drink are American fare. Meanwhile the interior is somewhere in-between, as though it started with a British theme and was then partially converted. My wife and I sat at the bar on a Saturday evening and ordered some drinks and dinner. I had the Bang Bang Grouper Sandwich with sweet potato fries and thoroughly enjoyed them. The fish was fresh, the sauce had a kick and the brioche bun was ideal. Surprisingly the sweet potato fries were also fresh (not frozen) and had a great crunch. My wife had a Cuban Sandwich and fries. She was less enthusiastic, said it was "OK" but that there was no "Cuban" to the Cuban. I believe she meant that it was not pressed as a panini and did not have enough mustard to suit her taste. She also said that the fries were a bit sweet. At any rate we enjoyed our evening including the live music. We left at the perfect time, just as some rabid Bulldog fans were arriving to watch their game (no offense meant, Georgians). Came here for a Yelp event and decided to return for brunch. We wanted to eat on the rooftop but it doesn't open until 5, so instead we ate on the patio. On Sundays they have $3 and $5 mimosas. I ordered the large mimosa which was really good and I'm almost sure it was made with freshly squeezed orange juice. I ordered the cheese grits with the pull pork and kale. Let me tell you! The flavor of that bowl touched ever last one of my taste buds! It was simply amazing! It's safe to say my husband and I have found a new brunch spot. On a date night with my wife and we waited an hour and a half for sandwiches that never came. Left disappointed and hungry.

Super cute spot! The restaurant has both indoors and outdoors and is on multiple floors. We decided to eat and drink on the rooftop because my friend said that it was an enjoyable spot. Summer is probably not the best time to do this and that probably tainted my experience. It was evening but just way too hot with not enough air flow. They had one fan going but it was pointing at nobody so it didn't do much. Service was also too slow for a hot evening. I wanted to keep the nice good drinks coming but only ended up with one cocktail since they were so slow. I had a burger and it was good. Overall it was average but I think I am going to try again and either sit inside or do the roof again once it cools off. read more

Let's face it....this area has very few good restaurants. We have okay ones and some horrible ones (Papa Doc's...I'm talking about you) but The Lucky Duck is firmly in the good category. Nice layout, excellent service, and good food. While we waited for our food, the chef sent out two corn fritters - which was a nice touch. (Bonus - they were fabulous!) I had the Miso Salmon and the hubs had the Fish and Fries. The salmon was a good sized portion, cooked well, and had a yummy miso glaze. It was accompanied by veggies in an Asian sauce, rice (I told them to skip that for me) and a pea purée. I'm gonna be honest and say I could have done without the purée but, I'm not really a pea person anyhow so it's a personal preference. The fish was fried haddock with shoestring fries. It also came with the pea purée and a bourbon ketchup and tartar sauce. The ketchup was a really nice touch! We will definitely be back. Actually, this may be my new go-to place. Give it a try. Needs revised menu, Co (same ownership group) is amazing so I know they can do it and really curious what's stopping the team from improving this place. They must be losing money based on the traffic I see there. LD burger is good, but that's really the only thing I'd recommend here. Ordered fried mushrooms, still frozen on the inside. Sent them back and asked for nothing else to eat. While we were the only two people at the bar, and the manager was at the far end of the bar talking with three employees, no one came to talk with us. Took our beers up to the patio, no one arrived to serve us for 20 minutes. The manager finally showed up but promptly ignored us. The whole experience felt like we were a bother for wanting someone to take our order. Cashed out and left for happier hunting grounds. Don't waste your time. Poor service. O rating. I gave a 1 to get this posted. My husband waited close to 30 minutes for a refill on sweet tea after asking for this from server. He had to get up and get his sweet tea from the bartender. Manager Christine states they are just busy and we would just have to wait. Just a heads up, they are just busy and be prepared to service yourself or just wait. Since my husband had to service himself, it seems fair that he should have received a discount on the meal. It took awhile to get the check as well, again they are just busy!!!! Not sure what is happening, we had a stomach ache immediately afterwards.
