If there's one beer on draft that isn't available, my husband will always order it! We did that again here, reliably well. Service was prompt enough after we were seated but our server wasn't very certain of what was available on draft and what was not. It took a few trips to the bar to land on available selections. Drink specials and better options were note recommended, but our server was very friendly. Menu is the same as it has been for years, could use a revamp honestly. The nachos were good, but not a standout in any way. The fried chicken salad had plentiful toppings but the chicken was overcooked and hard to cut through with a butter knife. We'd go back for beers and likely eat elsewhere in the area with more memorable menu options of better quality. It's a sports bar, and lots of TVs were on but we were not there during any major games. It was a mix of sport highlights and news. We complained and our waitress talked to the hostess. But why we paying our tab the hostess dressed like she was plalying tennis decided to walk behind us in a 1' space brushing up against us. This happened all through our entire meal and complaining didn't help! Rude and invasive people that did not want our business. Totally understand why they are not busy. When there are not a lot of places to have food after 900pm other than fast food,we decided this would be a good choice since we just arrived in the Charlotte area. Located in the Kingsley area,the Carolina Ale House is basically glorified bar food without any local brews ! Having never been to the Carolinas I wanted to try some local beers . My wife wanted a gluten free beer which was listed on their drink menu but the server said they did not have any. She then ordered a cider and they didn't have that either. The server said their menu was out of date...what? She settled on a Carolina Hurricane which was ok but a lot of ice. We ordered their house made chili and Carolina BBQ wings. The chili was a good portion but extremely hot as in Spicey not temperature. Maybe a few crackers on the side would have been nice. The wings were small but crispy and juicy but they tasted like regular store brought BBQ sauce..nothing special. The server (Elizabeth ) never came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks or how our food was. We did flag her down to pay our bill and for some reason she gave us 2 bills..one for drinks and one for food. Very odd plus they charge a 2pct. Fee to use a credit card. Not a lot but would have been nice to know. If you want bar food late at night or watch a sports event..give them a try but don't expect anything special. read more

A roadtrip headed north trying to get ahead of that nasty hurricane. But we had to stop to get a bite to eat. Unfortunately, it was pretty late an a lot of places were either closed or closing soon. Food was decent with large portions. Typical fare of this type of establishment. Service was good as our waitress checked on us periodically. Lots of TVs to stay up on the games. Slow night, plenty of workers standing around on their phones but nobody came to our table. I tried to order from the bar but ran into the same issue. Bartender was more involved in her phone than the customers. A guy I sat next to said he was having terrible service so he was leaving and wished me luck. The restaurant wasn't chaotic where one could compromise with the lack of service, and the table in front of us had service. The host that seated us kept walking by, but never paused to let us know what was going on. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND DEFINITELY NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS. My husband wanted to leave after 15mins of NO acknowledgment, but I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt that someone would show up, but after 30mins NO ONE ever did. WE LEFT. Honestly probably one of the most pleasant experiences I've had in a fort mill restaurant in quite some time. Beginning with the service from our server Carley! The food came out promptly and answered every question I had. Her energy and demeanor felt like it made the food even taste better. After our dinner I decided to stay back and have a couple drinks at the bar. Best decision thus far. The bartender was named Alexis and an absolutely mesmerizing individual with the hospitality and spunk that makes me never want to visit another bar again. The drinks were on point. She constantly checked on not only myself but everyone around me. Not once did I see an empty glass in any of the at least 25 other customers at the bar. Not only was she an absolute dream to look at but to be as personable as she was is unreal. This is someone who I'd specifically come back to this bar religiously just because she's working. And lastly the most impressive was the management constantly checking in on our experience tonight. I think her name was Ciara. We figured out after being seated that a/c wasn't working ~ 90+ temp today! I feel we should have been informed as soon as we walked in the door so could decide to stay or leave. (When leaving, I mentioned this to a waitress who said they were hot too!). Seated at a table that eventually the sun came streaming in the window, and soon discovered the shade we were trying to pull down was missing from the roller. Salmon was undercooked, the rest of our group was pretty much done eating by the time that salmon was replaced, yet the place was pretty empty. Waiter was serving tables on opposite sides of the room, didn't come by often enough, & said he also had to wash dishes! Took forever to pay as we each had to wait our turn with the handheld device. Only positive was the food ~ except for the salmon, other dinners were correct & served hot. Also not informed of additional fee to use credit card. Service was absolutely terrible! I had to ask the host for service after my boyfriend and I sat for over 15 minutes waiting to be served. The hostess was very apologetic and helped as much as she could. Our server then brought our drinks out and mine was half full. The food was okay. Worst Experience ever. My husband and I both worked in F&B for over 10 years. This was hands down the worst service we've ever had. We called ahead for a soccer team reservation of 25. Not only did it take over 2 hours for our girls to get their food, it was all wrong. All of that would have been forgiven if anyone seemed to care at all to make it right. We were told by several employees that they've been dead all winter and this was their first busy night. One employee told us she'd been there all day, as if that was justification. We ordered the chicken breast tenders and that is what they looked like when I opened the box. Maggie, our server, was attentive and super kind. The Southern LIT is a must! I'm not sure how I downed two but I did. We ordered fried pickles but cancelled the order when they hadn't arrived before our meal. I chose the burrito and substituted the chicken for shrimp. Another excellent choice. The shrimp were large and flavorful; I wish there had been a few more in there. The vegetable rice was surprisingly very good. My first chip was stale so I got worried. I was definitely skeptical about going here. We started with the fired trickles and they were good and the pickles were also thick. The drink were good but STRONG. I was only able to drink two. I had a Moscow mule and strawberry basil drink without the basil. The philly was good but I also wished that the peppers and onions were cooked more. The description said caramelized and the veggies were not. They were more raw than anything. The service was okay not the best. But beware on how much you leave for tip on your card because they will increase it.
