Very cutesy and quaint bar! I loved the unique interior design and decorations. They have a full menu with lots of tasty options for food and drink, with an amazing Happy Hour during the week from 3pm-7pm. HIGHLY recommended! Our server was swift and sweet. There is also seating out in front of the bar with available plugs to be utilized as a workspace, which I will definitely be making good use of in the near future!
The Ion seems to be a hidden spot but houses some great eats, Lymbar being among the various restaurants here. It has a nice, upscale-lite atmosphere and seems like a nice after work happy hour spot (which is what my party came for). The staff at the restaurant were all very nice and polite. They let me sit at a fairly large table while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The tables were fun and I enjoyed the velvet covered seating. It was a nice, quiet spot to grab some drinks, food, and catch up! Foodwise, I got the ceviche tostado and really enjoyed it. It had nice chunks of fresh seafood, well seasoned with the lime and a very crisp/crunchy tostado. I can't recall which drinks I ended up having but do know I enjoyed them both and thought they were well balanced and not overly sweet. The only downside was that prices were a bit high for relatively small portions, even during happy hour. However, if you're oooking for a splurge, I do think it s worth it to check out Lymbar and have a treat yourself moment.
Oh, loved this place. Stopped in on a whim waiting for some friends for an event. They just changed their HH menu that day! They were super accommodating. The floor to ceiling windows and the velvet chairs, the piano make for a beautiful atmosphere. You don't nearly think you're right in the center of it all. I ordered the bees knees, chicken chicharrones to start and then it became girl dinner. i ordered the broccolini on the side and the potato wedges as well. and for desert alfajores! (this was actually why i decided on this restaurant instead of the other 2 in the building). The bees knees was stellar! i'd order it again and again! All my food selections were great! The wedges were fuller than i thought they would be but they were so good. The Alfajores were tinier than i thought they would be and they were not quite like the ones i have traveling but a good substitute if you can't get to the original. I was never asked about allergies and my plate did come out with something i'm allergic to. Other than that, great girl dinner! i'll be back for another!
Came here for a speciality dinner but they are very involved with providing food for the Ion Block Party and special events. The service was outside and chef came out and explain the different dishes that were offer. The smoked duck is delicious and during Thanksgiving they had a Turkey empanada that is amazing! Definitely recommend coming by.

I think they're in a period of transition- they still had the HRW menus and there was no happy hour available, but they're supposed to roll out HH again soon. The midtown sunset drink was tasty! For an app we got dish with mixed calamari, shrimp, and brussel sprouts so the rice flour- very crunchy! And savory. I got the pepito steak sandwich- the bread was soft and meat was tender, and the chimichurri sauce was tasty. Love the wedge fries which were salty in the best way. Parking lot was completely full but the ion garage isn't far away!
Came back for round 2! The menu has changed a bit since last year, but what I really liked is that the entire menu they presented in the restaurant was basically HRW. If you wanted something outside of it, it was priced separately- so essentially, the whole menu was HRW if that makes sense. We started with the deviled wings (2/5), shrimp aguachile (5/5), and shrimp & sherry empanada (4/5). The wings were crispy but extremely oily- kind of overbearing with the grease. The aguachile, though, was zesty, refreshing, and had a perfect kick to it- LOVE. The cilantro cream with the empanada was such a good pairing with the shrimp/sherry combo, but the portion was tiny. For our entrées, we tried the arroz paella (5/5), whole roasted prime rib (4/5), and filete en mole verde (4/5). Not sure if it's traditional to top paella with fried calamari, but I loved it! The beurre blanc sauce was so good- I wanted more of it. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and simple. The only letdown was the rosemary wedge fries... there was zero rosemary flavor, and they definitely needed more seasoning. For dessert, we went with the tres leches, alfajores, and dark chocolate torte. All were amazing, but the torte was next-level rich, and the Cajeta cream with it was incredible. Service was solid- we were checked on and helped when needed. The only downside (and honestly kind of a big one considering the type of restaurant) was that we were served our drinks in plastic cups because they ran out of glassware. Not exactly what I was hoping for, especially since I had brought guests to host for dinner.
I had high hopes for this place and it just didn't live up to my expectations. The paella was good but I felt it was lacking some flavors it was more creamy than anything. The squid and shrimp in the rice was salty. The lamb chops were tough, the rice that it came with was cold hard and dry and the lamb didn't have much flavor at all. Our server recommended the rosepud, but it came out cold like it's been sitting and I felt the potato was over cooked leaving a burnt taste in my mouth. Our waitress was good though, we ordered 3 drinks and out third one took a while to come out even though it wasn't too busy. Ambiance was cute but I would probably not come back again.
We visited The Lymbar for HRW and were impressed by the $39 three course menu! I felt like it was an incredible value for the quality and ambiance. I started with the hummus, which was fresh and flavorful, though the bread was a little chewy. It was followed by the prime rib which tender and well-seasoned. I also enjoyed the garlic potato wedges. The sticky pudding leaned a bit too sweet for my taste, but still satisfying. My friend enjoyed the carbonara and seafood paella, both of which she found delicious. The interior is beautifully styled with warm, modern touches, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout.

Just don't do it.

I had been planning to come back for a while. We came in on a Friday night. I made a reservation in advance. When we arrived the place was at least half empty. They asked if we had a reservation and quickly moved us into a room to the side. I wanted to eat in the main dining area but instead we were tucked off in the corner room. Service was decent, not great. Others were getting seated in the area we were in and asked if they could eat in the main dining area but were told all those available seats (half the dining room) were reserved. No one sitting in them when we arrived nor when we left. The food: Started with the churrasco bites. They come with chimmichuri and a brandy peppercorn sauce. The sauce was amateur hour. Tasted overly creamy with no peppercorn whatsoever. The steak was under seasoned and desperately needed salt. The chimmi was solid and well salted which would have made up for the lack of salt on the steak but there wasn't enough of it on the plate to add to each bite. The steak was cooked just past medium (so to me, overcooked). They didn't ask how we would like it cooked either. Next we had the Arroz Paella W/ achiote shrimp, seared dry scallop, spanish chorizo, saffron garlic rice, beurre blanc. The shrimp were good, the scallops were basic and not memorable and the rice was too wet and the beurre blanc made it oddly creamy. I like the saffron in the rice but with no crispy bottom the rice was underwhelming. We also had the smoked lamb lollichops which had a chipotle chili glaze, chimichurri, quinoa tabbouleh, cucumber. Again, way under seasoned and overcooked. They didn't ask how we wanted it cooked either. These came out well done. That made them chewy and not pull off the bone. The smoke was excessive and I like smoked meat but when it's the only flavor the dish becomes boring and bland. The quinoa underneath was light and refreshing however. For sides we went with garlic rosemary fries which had neither garlic nor rosemary. They were just lightly salted and huge wedges. We also had the Brussels sprouts which were good and had a balsamic glaze on them. Pretty typical but good. We ordered 4 drinks. I had an old fashioned which was basic at best and a boulevardier. They offered to smoke the old fashioned for the table next to us. I wasn't given that option. My wife had the Red lipstick w/ mezcal, hibiscus and lime- it was great. She also had the mezcal Rita and enjoyed it as well. Overall, I wouldn't go back nor recommend the restaurant. At this price point most comparable restaurants blow this away in taste and service. I would give it 2.5 if half stars were an option on Yelp. Valet is complementary which is always a nice touch.
Ya know. This place was a bit disappointing. This was my return to this restaurant post trialing their food earlier in the year at an event. Its a cute intimate setting with a diversity of seating options and a bar. It has dim lighting which can set the mood if you like. The cuisine here is Mediterranean/ Latin inspired I believe. We ordered 2 appetizers the hummus and the plantains. Nice presentation but generally underwhelming. The quac that came with the plantains was bland uninspiring. The hummus tasted peculiar to me. I ordered the salmon veracruz, I like the crusty top but it didn't have much flavor to it. My friend ordered the beef ravioli unremarkable and I ordered the Brussel Sprouts salad, eeh I didn't like it at all. I also ordered a carajillo my new fav drink andddd it was midddd. Now our waitress was great and super attentive, shouout to her. But based off the food i don't think I need to come back. I'm not opposed to trying their brunch though.
I've visited The Lymbar three times so far -- all in the same month! Each time has been such a memorable experience. The staff is incredibly helpful, understanding, and attentive. Special love to the Chef -- my goodness! This has quickly become my favorite spot to study and enjoy high-quality, healthy food that truly fuels me. "Blown away" doesn't even begin to describe how delicious each meal has been. Not to mention -- the comfy seating! It's cozy, welcoming, and perfect for staying a while. I plan to bring many of my study buddies here. The Lymbar is definitely a gem. I've had the pleasure of meeting several amazing team members: * Sidney helped me on a Monday -- she's so personable and kind! * Amy helped me on Wednesday and guided me through my order; now I'm hooked on the salad and hummus! * Emily also helped me Wednesday -- she gave great recommendations on what to try next and even watched my bag for me when I stepped away. So thoughtful! * Alyssa was warm, pleasant, and very helpful. * Kelsey, the bartender -- although I don't drink, she made sure I was taken care of when the shift changed. So pleasant and attentive! I also met the assistant manager on 4/24/25, when I came to study and enjoy the rest of my birthday. She was kind, helpful, and welcoming. I believe her name might be Priscilla -- forgive me if I'm mistaken, I'm working on remembering names better! The waitress on 4/24 gave a wonderful recommendation and i look forward to trying the salmon with salad! Omg! She was so helpful and kind and surprised me with a birthday Tres Leches cake, that was DELICIOUS! To the entire team at The Lymbar -- thank you for everything you do. Your hospitality, delicious food, and cozy atmosphere are unmatched. I'll definitely be back!
Wow! Wow! Wow! I am super excited about my experience! I attended a meeting at the Zion stairs, and decided to stop for dinner. Let me tell you! The good and drinks were amazing!!! My server Amanda provided excellent advice and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Even though it appears several events were happening at the same time, Amanda consistently made sure we were taken care of. An added bonus was talking with Michael the manager, who provided more information on dishes, the chef and was very personable. The ambiance feels lounge like to me. I could easily sit and chill, or work a bit if I wanted to. Music selections were nice when I could hear them, over the event energy. I wasn't bothered I had a great time. Now the food!!! Lord!!! Everything I tasted was really good!!! My margarita, my empanada appetizer, to my carnitas entree and dessert (I chose the bread pudding, but my sister tried the date cake dessert, Baby! I'll take the cake. I didn't think I'd like the date thing, but it was excellent!!! Bread pudding after that was meh... Also not parking up to three hours is free. So plenty of time to enjoy a meal and friends. I will definitely be back. read more

Let's start off the positives. The service was really great. Server was attentive and quick. The ambiance was a nice place for a dinner date. The food was lackluster if I'm being honest. Finally i was able to come here for lunch. The place looked bigger in IG then it really is It doesn't look too good with furnitures stain with food and didn't keep up with cleaning. The floor looks dirty. Management can sure do the job better. Food wise was Ok. The only impressed me the most was the pepito steak sandwich. I'm really not a fan of sandwich but it was very good in my opinion. I was having higher hope on the empanada but it turned out not to good. The carbonara was Ok and the seafood gumbo was to watery. Service on the other hand was good. read more
Visited on first night of HRW and had a fantastic meal. This place has been on my to-try list for so long, I regret not visiting sooner. Staff were supper friendly and welcome. HRW menu is the largest one I've ever seen. It's almost impossible to make a choice because so many things sound delicious. And only $39 -- a steal! It's also very beautiful inside. And love that there's easy and free parking. read more

It was my birthday and also Houston Restaurant Weeks. I went in for a nice meal to start off my celebrations and it turned into one of the most beautiful days I could have. The service was amazing, we were seated in a nice open spot in front of the piano, I even played a few keys for the guests. I got special birthday treatment and all of the food was to die for. I'll be back soon. The food was so delicious every single thing I had was impressive to say the least. The presentation was spectacular and it taste even better than. Thanks for an amazing start to my day. read more

Recently, I attended a Yelp Elite event as a plus one, and one of the featured restaurants was The Lymbar. The ambiance was gorgeous plus the servers were attentive and friendly. Here are my thoughts about each thing we ordered. Parillada Mixta: 3/5 I think it's nice as a concept but some of the items on it left much to be desired. I didn't enjoy the vermicelli rice (grains too long...I found out this is noodle rice), tortillas (too much flour and too thick), and the steak (way too much fat). The stand out was the lamb (juicy and tender) and the okay part was the chicken and sausage because I've had that exact sausage from la mexicana and a family cook out. It's nothing new to me. Plantain chips and feta spread: 3/5 it was okay but I wish the dip had a little more flavor. Brussel sprouts: 4/5 The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and seasoned well but to me the thing they were missing was honey or some type of sweet element. I took them home and added hot honey, threw them in the air fryer and they ended up being 5/5. Rum punch: 10/5 amazing amazing amazing!!! Literally tasted like a white tea. Dangerous drink. I tasted zero alcohol. Super refreshing! Great deal if you get the one that serves 2-3! I want to mention everything came out at the same time and I wish the plantain chips and dip came out before everything else. Overall I had a great time here but I wouldn't come back unless it's for happy hour and some quick appetizers. I recommend checking it out for the drinks. read more

I visited The Lymbar on a rainy Saturday evening to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and it was such a wonderful choice. The ambiance felt cozy and welcoming, perfect for a night out with friends. Service was excellent; our waitress was attentive and thoughtful, making us feel taken care of from start to finish. Since it was Houston Restaurant Weeks, we decided to order from the three-course menu. Our waitress recommended placing all three course selections at once so the timing of each dish would flow seamlessly, which turned out to be a great idea. Appetizers: We shared the Frito Misto, Hummus with Beef Kofta, and the Carbonara. All three were flavorful, but the Carbonara truly stood out--creamy, comforting, and perfectly balanced. Entrée: I chose the Arroz Paella with shrimp and scallops. It was outstanding, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the scallops were sweet, tender, and succulent. Dessert: I ended with the Tres Leches, and it was the perfect finish. Moist, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness, one of the best I've had in a while. Overall, this was one of the best meals I've enjoyed all summer. Between the atmosphere, service, and food, The Lymbar is definitely a spot I'd recommend for a girls' night out or a romantic date night. read more

My first time at this place was when I was a +1 at a yelp event and I knew I needed to bring my friends here for happy hour. We came on a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. Our server was so kind, this place wants to appeal to a more upscale crowd. We started with a caipirinha and it was so delicious! Very well balanced. From the happy hour menu, we tried the hummus, ceviche tostada, devil wings, and the garlic fries. All of them are great but the portion size is pretty small, it's probably more conducive for 1 person, maybe 2 if you order a lot of items. I liked how the hummus had different things you can mix it with and the pita it came with was warm. The wings were flavorful but it wasn't a spicy buffalo flavor that you'd traditionally expect. The ceviche was too notch, I could eat several of them. Our 2nd round of drinks was the mezcalrita. It was pretty Smokey, which I liked but it was too much for one of our friends. We were still hungry so we shared an arroz paella. It had good flavor, but was a little salty for my taste. This is a great place to go for a drink after work, or a cute date night spot. It's on the pricier side but definitely a place you can treat yourself! read more

So I went on a Friday night and had a reservation when I went there. It was around 830 and the place was basically not busy at all. The service was OK. It was a bit slower than I would expect. I came here because a friend recommended it. The food and the pricing I think it's on par. Definitely enjoyed the beef empanada more than the spinach empanada. The chicken Chicharrón tasted just like chicken nuggets, which was great for me just more flavorful. The fried lobster Twinkie was a one and done for me. The paella was one of my favorites the quantity was amazing and the shrimp size was beautiful along with the charbroil taste of it. There was meat in every single bite. I love a good lychee martini of course this is not on their menu, but they do have it just so you know. The best part is they're still during Houston restaurant week and it's October. Parking was valet or free street parking. read more

Went for restaurant week! The chicharrones was the star of the show! I'm usually not a fan of pork rinds but these were SPECTACULAR! Tasted more like boneless chicken nuggets than the dried crunchy pork rinds I grew up on! The empanadas were tasty too. Just wish the portion was bigger! The salmon was delicious as well, also wish the portion was bigger. I ordered brussel sprouts on the side, but had to send them back because they were burnt. I'd go back and try more items. read more
What a lovely spot! A friend and I went for dinner and I was surprised to be one of three parties in the place. The LYMBAR can be a bit intimidating from the menu perspective as they have everything from Spanish -Mexican influence to seafood to Italian dishes. Additionally, the bar menu is very robust and the service is excellent -- for my bourbon and whiskey drinkers, they boast a private barrel of a Elijah Craig and their old fashion is amazing. On this particular evening, we decided to split the rose paella and the steak frites, everything was divine. The scallops were tender, shrimp was succulent, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Also, parking is pretty good here with the first three hours being free at the ion. I highly recommend. read more

The decor is a vibe! Our server was great! And the food was yummy. I really enjoyed dining here for my friend's birthday. Surprisingly, it was not that busy on a Friday night. A a bonus, HRW has been extended. So I definitely took advantage of that. For starter I had the Seafood Tostada. The seafood on it was so fresh and I really enjoyed each bite. For entree, our server recommended the Plantain Chicken plate. It comes with sweet potato purée and sautéed greens. This dish was good too. The only critique I had was I wanted a little more greens and the purée was really sweet. I think a yuca purée/mash would be the bomb. For dessert, I ordered the flan. It comes with caramel popcorn too that gave the smooth flan a nice crunch. I enjoyed my meal from start to finish. I would definitely come back again. Little details matter. A lot of times when restaurants have couches as part of their decor, the couches are too low and the table would be too high. These couches in here were perfect! Came by for restaurant week and had a good time. Beef empanada- comes on hummus which is really good. Beef empanada was underwhelming. Tempura Fish tacos- halibut, avocado, hoisin, pickled onion, cilantro, cabbage, sesame. The highlight. Lighter with a vinegary/balsamic taste. Dairy free dessert - unsure if this is even on the menu but it was a delicious! The drinks were really good! read more

Visited this place again tonight and had a totally different experience. We made a reservation for 6:45pm and were told it was an error that let us book because they have no tables available. They offered us a seat at the counter. This was a bad spot because the waitress did not check on us. I ran out of water, and didn't have a fork for a while. My frito misto was missing shrimp. The calamari batter was overly salty. I asked about the paella coming with scallops and the waitress informed me that it no longer comes with scallops but calamari. When my friend's food comes to the table she had scallops! I opted for the steak thinking I couldn't get scallops. She did not ask how I wanted it prepared and it came to the table bloody. They re-made it but it still had no flavor. Overall less than stellar experience. I'm embarrassed that I suggested this place as I was trying to celebrate my friend's birthday and we were underwhelmed with the service and the food. read more

We were here for late dinner for resturant week. The space was perfect for our small party. We were quickly seated. The food was fresh and flavorful! Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and reservations were made ahead of time. It's located inside of the ION corporate building. We were able to get seated right away and they had couches as their seats which made it quite comfy. We had a party of 10 though and had a bit of spacing in between so it was a bit difficult to speak to each other from a distance. We mainly ordered from the HRW menu but had some small additions from the regular menu. The service seemed a bit slow, one side of the table received their order of plantain chips before us and it took another 20 minutes for our side to receive it. For the 1st course, I got the Lobster Twinkies (pretty crispy and such a unique take on a "twinkie"). 2nd course, I got the Arroz Paella (really enjoyed this dish, I loved that it came with chicken, shrimp and chorizo and was just a overall flavorful paella). For the 3rd course dessert, I got the Original Tres Leches (MOIST MOIST MOIST, I liked it alot). Very impressed with the food and service at The Lymbar! I was attending an event at ION District and was attracted to the inside. I was immediately greeted and eventually wound up at the bar. I enjoyed the Ceviche Mixto, Spinach Empanadas with green sauce and the Tres Leches. Items were very flavorful and put together well. I enjoyed libations of Banaera ( an absolute FAVORITE) and a Zombie. Priscilla and team working the bar were amazing. Great bartenders and kept me entertained. Lively conversational decor. I definitely plan to make my way back to the Lymbar, especially once the weather gets a little nicer. They do have a patio setting as well. A breeze and a Bananera will set me right. read more
It pains me to leave this review and I've intentionally waited for months but let's get into it. My friend and I came here for lunch after Good Friday service. Parking was easy and we were about to be seated with no issues seeing as the restaurant was not busy. The seats were comfy so we were off to a great start. Our waitress came over to take our order so we started with the Rosepud and Spinach, Feta & Halloumi empanada. I also got a mocktail and my friend had the Just Beet It. Our waitress was moving a bit slow so it took a while for her to come back to the table to grab our entree orders. Things began to tricky here as I asked her THREE times if there was meat in the yellow rice. She said no so I ordered the Branzino. My friend got something else which I can't recall. So the starters came out but it took 75 MINUTES for our food to come out and lo and behold, there was meat in my rice and my friend's order was incorrect. Please keep in mind that there were maybe 3 other patrons in the restaurant at the time. We both kept cool and even asked why the food took so long and our waitress blamed the kitchen. There was no apology rendered so I asked to speak to the manager. He came over and immediately tried to blame the waitress saying that she should have told us that our food was going to delayed and she gave the kitchen the wrong order. Whole time he is yapping, I am waiting for an apology. Our food not only came out extremely late, but it was wrong. While he did comp my friend's meal, it didn't help with the utter dissatisfaction. This was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had when dining. I was so excited to come here because the ambiance is super inviting but they are such a mess and then to charge $1 for an ice cube truly sent me over the edge. Clearly I was left so traumatized that it took me 9 months to circle back to this review, smh. read more
They changed from peanut oil to canola oil recently! Thankfully! Several dishes still have nuts, though. Any kale is around a lot of nuts so I was recommended not to have it. We made a reservation for three for Houston Restaurant Week and were easily seated. The seats vary in comfort - one of us sat on a couch and it wasn't that comfortable. The overall mood of the restaurant is a date night vibe for sure. Warm lighting, intimate environment. Order-to-Drinks: 15 Minutes Order-to-Appetizers: 16 Minutes Order-to-Entree: 42 Minutes Order-to-Dessert: 58 Minutes Empanadas: The Monte Cristo (4/5) was a great surprise. Tart, a touch of sweet, with the meatiness after. The Spinach Feta (3.5/5) was okay, but the cilantro dip was surprisingly good with the hummus. Fried Chicken Chicharrones (3/5): A little overrated. Basically popcorn chicken, but worse. The golden barbecue sauce definitely carried it. Very sharable though. Hummus (5/5): We ordered this off the Houston Restaurant Week menu from the good reviews, and would wholeheartedly recommend. Portions excellent, delicious, packed with toppings. One criticism is that it would've been more excellent with a touch of citrus, like lemon. Tempura Fish Tacos (3.5/5): Carried by the hoisin sauce. Also could've used a touch of citrus, like lime. Plantain chicken with sweet potato puree (3/5): A little too rich (heavy cream?) on the puree. Chicken portion is small. Arroz Paella (3.5/5): We felt it could've used more seasoning. It was pretty good, but could've used more protein. Desserts - It's insane that they have four options for HRW and they ran out of two. We only had the options of Tres Leches (3.5/5) and Alfajores (3/5). The Tres Leches had a very nice Italian meringue but we found it a bit dry. The Alfajores are like tiny shortbread macaroons. Overall, it was a nice meal with inKind credits but I don't think I'd return at menu price. I'm shocked they ran out of desserts so early in the night. read more

'Maybe it's a bad night'- quote from my husband. Husband appreciation dinner here and I had high hopes and solid reviews to back me. We were maybe 5 min late- table was given away and we were seated at the hightop nearest to the door. I tried. but the draft and the legs swinging was too much, so we were moved. Service was ok, but she disappeared when it mattered most: when we were ready for the check. Drinks were strong and satisfying. As for food, meh. They were out of stuffs on a seemingly slow Friday night, which I found curious. We had the black bean gumbo and chicken Chicharrones for appetizers. For entrees: branzino and lobster chilaquiles. The worst of it was the chilaquiles- sauce tasted like bad movie theatre nacho cheese. Best of it all were the cocktails. Two word review: pretty decor. read more
