As one of the most popular places in Midtown over the past decade plus, Wooster's Garden came to an end earlier this month after ownership (#1) decided that it was time to go. Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. Let me finish 2025 with one of my favorite spots in town. One of the places I find myself back at often. One that I can't believe I haven't reviewed already. Good ole Wooster's Garden. It is located in Midtown, smack dab in the middle of the city. They have their own lot which I have never had a problem getting a spot, but when it's busy, street parking is available all around. Customer service is always excellent. When it's busy, be patient as they are making the best drinks in town. What I love most about this place is that it has a few identities. It serves as a beer garden, a cocktail lounge, and a restaurant. They do each thing very well too. They have an impressive beer and food menu, but their cocktails is what keeps me coming back. In this city, I would say it's one of the better cocktail spots. There hasn't been anything that I haven't liked. Their expert mixologists do their thing here and do it well. If you don't see something that catches your fancy on the menu, they will make something that with things you like. I also love their "garden". It's nice and green and have little swings to make it one of the nicer patios in town too. Inside, there is plenty of seating with booths, high tops and low tops and a cozy corner with a couch. I attended a baby shower on a Saturday from 11a-2p. It was my first time here. There is a good size private parking lot. I really liked the aesthetics of the outdoor patio area that easily blended into the main dining/bar area. There was plenty of room for the buffet line, desserts table, gift table and photo backdrop area. The staff seemed pretty friendly too & quickly helped to clear any trash. My family and I really enjoyed the chicken & burger sliders with potatoes. The grilled chicken salad was pretty soggy but could be from the large amount being served and having to sit out during the buffet. The bathrooms were cleaned and had a rustic styled sink. I'm a big Wooster's fan! I've been heading here for the past few years ever since hearing about their half off deal during happy hour. The bar has a nice, relaxed atmosphere with open seating both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is great for a casual evening with a large group. They also have smaller tables for date night. We stopped by recently on a Friday night at 10pm or so after dinner. They were fairly busy, though they can get much more crowded during happy hour. We had no trouble ordering the Sunkissed (my absolute favorite drink here) and the Low tide. We placed our orders at the bar and brought them back to the booth seating to enjoy. The Sunkissed is my favorite because it's so light and refreshing, and also fun to look at! It's deceptively spirit-forward with both vodka and sparkling wine. The low tide was tasty and tropical, and I loved the presentation as well. This is a solid spot for happy hour after work, which is when they have the best deals. One of my new favorite spots in Midtown! Wooster's venue has a uniquely designed interior and suits a wide variety of social situations. Despite its spacious walkways, the wooden build provides a cozy atmosphere. The most highlightable aspect of this place is the furniture; it's a peculiar choice of colorful chairs and sofas that fit in surprisingly well. I'm slowly leaving my social drinking phase, so I'll give props to the mocktails first. The Mango on a Sunday was my favorite out of the 3 drinks I tried. It's lightly sweet and tasted the most refreshing (5/5). The Tropical Smash also makes for a great contender if you want to try something sour; it's a mix of kiwi, pineapple, lemon, and lime (4.5/5). I was not feeling the Rubus Cube. It's not undrinkable, but I personally don't feel like the habanero cooperates with the rest of the ingredients at all (3/5). Impressively, the food lives up to the same standard as the drinks. My date and I shared a plate of lemon pepper wings and fries. To our delight, it wasn't just crappy bar food; both the wings and fries were well-seasoned. It's something that I could blindly taste test again and deduce that it came from Wooster's. Not bad for $20. This establishment has the versatility for practically any occasion. It's clean and comfortable with a menu that stands out among the Midtown crowd of bars. The female bartender was sort of nice while the male bartender was straight to the point & wasn't too friendly. I will say that he made the drinks quick and got me out of the way. We came here for Brian T. Birthday and this was definitely a good choice. The drinks are creative & strong. I decided to order a Manhattan and Cherry cast. The manhattan was solid it wasn't the best but it was strong enough to have me buzz. The Cherry cast was very good that I ordered two more. Very strong cherry flavor & I'm not sure what type of bitters they added to the drink but you can definitely taste it. My friends ordered some fries and Hummus. I thought the fries were well seasoned, crispy, right out of the fryer hot & fresh. I'm not the biggest fan of hummus but it was delicious. Considering this is a bar, they really make some good quality food. Overall, it was solid. Drinks and food is exceptional. They have a patio in case you don't want to be inside. On a long weekend girls trip in Houston, we were looking for a place with a nice patio and Wooster's is basically all patio. There are so many nice seating nooks both inside and outside, and even if you're inside, with the large garage doors open it feels like you're still outside. Lots of soft lighting and instagramable photo opportunities. The ambiance is casual but Wooster's is still special enough for a date night. My friend and I both had the grilled chicken ceasar salad which was impeccable - house made dressing and chicken juicy and warm, cooked to order not pulled out of the fridge and thrown on top as an afterthought. We also split an order of fries which were also delicious and came with an amazing chipotle ketchup. Staff are friendly, helpful and the cocktail selection was enormous. I've been here a couple times while in Mid-town and always wonder why don't I frequent here more often when I depart the venue. It's a great location and chill vibes with competent bartenders who can whip up some good cocktails. Such drinks such as the Social Dilemma are what adult beverage dreams are made of. Wooster's Garden.....where do I start here. Right when you pull into the parking lot you know you are in for a treat. Private lot in my book always wins me over. I hate having to park on the street and worry about if I am in a towing zone or safe zone. As you walk into Wooster's you see a patio that has swings and benches. They did a solid job with all the plant life around and has a nice touch with decor. the patio makes you want to sit outside. I don't recall seeing any fans but during the evening it was not overly hot by any means. Interior has a rustic type of look with bar service. Beware of a few stools, they have a saddle type sitting base and will goose you in the wrong area if you are not careful. Now cocktails, wow. So many craft cocktails to choose from. All spirit bases and different flavor profiles. You can't go wrong with any of them. I tried three or four of them and sadly got a little tipsy. Well not sadly. I finished with a Yellow Rose IPA. With the draft beers and wines I didn't really branch out too much. Overall I really like this spot. Ambiance is perfect for a date night or just to grab a beer and do some computer work. Cocktails do take a little longer to produce, but it is only due to it being a true craft cocktail bar. Nothing is synthetic or fake. Everything is made fresh and crafted with detail. read more

Located in Midtown on Milam, Wooster's is a bar that has been around for quite a while and remains one of the better options for this area that is slightly less trashy and more corporate/millennial friendly. They have a decent sized complimentary parking lot just adjacent to them, which is great. If not, you can always park in the parking garage caddy corner to them. They have a bunch of cocktails, mocktails, and beer on tap and prices are pretty reasonable, as the day for $10 cocktails are somehow gone. They get quite busy and it is honestly an introvert's nightmare to be here but I guess if you are an extrovert and enjoy going out to recharge your social batteries, this is a good option for this area that is slightly less run down than if you go further south. Just to round the rating down, their last minute mandatory 20% "tip" is a crock of baloney. This is the first time I've seen this kind of deceptive practice at a bar and I'm not a fan. They tell you after the fact as you close your tab and I don't remember seeing it mentioned anywhere. This is poor and deceptive business practice and it'll end up with a lot of people tipping on top of tips when they don't realize. You vote with your dollar and I'll be voting elsewhere as there is no shortage of good bars inside the loop. read more

On the last day of the year I went out on a date and we ended up at Woosters Garden. This bar is pretty well known around Houston for its great drinks so I was excited to try it for myself. When I looked at the menu I was overwhelmed the options are endless. I don't know what kind of training these mixologists do but it's gotta be stellar cause each drink has like seven or eight ingredients. I started off with a bang cause it was the last day of the year the Booze cruise. Kind of an elevated Long Island. It was good and after I finished had to take a pause before my next drink. Next up was bells and whistles this was super refreshing but definitely carrot forward. It was like drinking fresh pressed juice I wasn't mad at it. I ended the night with the PASTEQUE Swizzle and it was my favorite hands down. The watermelon, cognac and green chartreuse [whatever that is] was perfect. Watching them make the drinks was quite the experience. Overall I see why this is a must go in Houston and I will definitely be back to try some more of their cocktails. read more

There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and this place gets very crowded on the weekends. Parking is also not too difficult around this area as they have both a parking lot and street parking if it is full. Most of the bartenders are pretty good overall, but I think one or two definitely are feeling the pressure more during their busiest hours.
