I've passed by this bar countless times and have always wondered about it. I'm glad that I finally came in with a group of my friends. This is definitely a dive bar and seems to really be geared towards the local neighborhood. From the outside and even the inside, you may not think much of it but it was a pleasant surprise and they have so many cocktails to try. We got there a little early on a Friday night and were one of the only groups there but a rather large party/gathering came in maybe 30mins or so afterwards. The mixologist? was super friendly and gave recommendations as there are just so many cocktail options. Drinks took a bit to be made but she was by herself and we each ordered a different drink. The drinks themselves were really good and there's definitely something for everyone here. I really enjoyed my lady earl and we even tried a hot cheeto drink (not my favorite but it was fun to try and really does taste like a hot cheeto). I think this is just a fun place to check out and hang out. I'm glad to have this as a local spot not and am looking forward to trying more of their drinks! read more

Parking is street only. The block we parked on was free after 6 pm, but read the signs as it varies in Midtown. My friend and I stopped in for a drink after dinner on a Monday night. It wasn't super busy, but there were more people than I was expecting given that it was a Monday. I didn't get the bartender's name, but she was cool. She gave us menus (I loved the cover of the menu - "This Is Our Menu") and answered questions we had about the cocktails. I noticed that they have a Pornstar Martini. I had this drink for the first time in Amsterdam a few months back and was blown away with it because it consisted of the martini, a small glass of Prosecco, and a piece of passionfruit. TDH's version didn't come with passionfruit, but it did come with the small glass of Prosecco. I told the bartender that I had to ask for instructions on how to drink it in Amsterdam because I wasn't prepared for the accompaniments and her response was "booze your own adventure!" LOL. My kind of gal! The drink was good, though I thought the Prosecco was a little flat. Since this is a dive bar, I won't deduct any stars for the lack of passionfruit lol. I can't recall the cocktail that my friend had, but he enjoyed his. The indoor area was small, but they had a nice patio area out front. They were playing an awesome rotation of indie alternative music from the 2000s/2010s which is right up my alley. It's a dive bar, and I really don't do dive bars (full stop) -- but I try to keep an open mind and Two Headed Dog is crafty and clean enough for me to like it! (if that makes any sense at all... lol) The hubs and I decided to be mavericks and step out of our usual & try a new spot for a nightcap. We searched craft cocktails, and the Yelpers + the five star rating led us here. I trust my fellow Yelpers, and I'm happy to report that I wasn't disappointed. Bar service only, the cocktails are tasty, it's dark and tucked away, the music is a vibe, prices are amazing, the aesthetic is quite eclectic, and the restroom was clean. THD clearly has a following as people were continuously streaming in, and after our first visit, the hubs and I agreed that we'd be down to return with company. Two Headed Dog is one of my favorite dive bars in town. If you aren't looking for it, you would never even know there's a bar there as it is behind a wooden fence. We came to have a few cocktails before dinner on a weekday and there was a decent sized crowd. The weather was nice so we took advantage of the nice outdoor space. Inside it's small but there is a little bit of seating. The staff was friendly and steered us in the right directions as far as what we like. We started off with a few of their cocktails. She got the Plant Creep and I got the Last Rites. Their menu might not be as extensive as some of the higher end cocktail bars, but they definitely put out great drinks. Both of the drinks were delicious and even nice to look at. I kept seeing people with a frozen green drink and I had to get one for myself. It was the Late Nite Pie Daiquiri and it was so dang good. There's a reason this place has a five star rating - hidden gem! Two Headed Dog is what I would call an "upscale dive bar" tucked off of Elgin Street. Don't let the unassuming entrance fool you, great cocktails, a diverse liquor selection, and talented bartenders await inside. The drinks on their menu are unique and reasonably priced. May 22, 2022 Before we headed home to galveston...we stopped by this hole in the wall. There is no name on the front it's just a fence with the door open. (it's directly across from CVS - DON'T PARK there btw...they tow) You'll see the bar name on the building that faces their patio Park at the empty lot at the corner; it says to pay but the owner (of bar) said it's free and that's where to park, so we did. The menu is posted and it's all craft cocktails; very interesting combinations...we tried 3 different ones and didn't like them enough to order again. The owner is super nice. I'm kinda into this tucked away little divey cocktail bar. Park on the street or in the adjacent lot. It's an unattended paid parking lot, but I was informed by a bartender it's never checked. Came in on a Sunday evening. Karaoke was in full swing on the patio. A person was manning a small grill area for freshly made hot food that night. The place is small, but that's not a problem for me. Emphasis is placed on the house signature cocktails including a few frozen cocktails. No beers on tap, but they have a rather unique assortment of canned beers and cider. The cocktails and theme of the place are loosely tropical. Spent the evening chatting with a friendly bartender, and he walked me to my vehicle when he got off of work due to the random vagabonds roaming the streets in this area. What a nice gesture! I would describe it as a modern dive bar serving modern and inventive tiki drinks and frozen craft cocktails. The music playing is an interesting mix, with 80s, rock, 90s, rap. A little of everything. I ordered a couple of drinks. Last Rites, a rum based drink which was fruity and low alcohol, and another which I forgot but both were pretty good. I saw many people ordering the guava slayer or guava paloma which looked good. Its a fun atmosphere whether you sit inside or on the patio which is a larger area. read more

Great bar very chill and laid back. Has a small entrance but you can definitely see it with the bright lights. The bartender was very nice and welcoming. The menu had a great selection of signature cocktails. They had a good beer selection as well, my first drink of choice was there pickle michelada (spicy added) it was good. The mix was one of the best that I've had I really enjoyed there spicy version. My second drink was there blood of our enemies, again. It was a great choice the gin, pineapple, pomegranate, and there wizard citrus was a good mix. The restroom's were cool they had vintage playboys magazines as wallpaper. What a fun place and great way to relax after work. My son recommended it. I have a degree in geography and mapping and I had a tough time finding it. There is free parking at the commercial lot before 8PM on the next block. Trust your navigation system and walk a half block. Service was great in spite of a little crowd. Two Headed Dog is exactly the type of bar that's needed at this part of the Houston Midtown neighborhood. This place has a chill front patio that feels warm and relaxing and a cozy indoor seating and great music being played all night long. So for the first timer, you might not even find this bar because it's slightly hidden, which also makes you feel like you found a nice hidden oasis all for yourself. But just look for some tall wooden fences and a yellow door. Also, there's a free parking lot across the street on Fannin street that can be used for people who are coming to this bar. Let's talk about the drink first, pretty much everything is good but it does take a taste or two to find your new favorite at Two Headed Dog. Right now the menu is limited but sometimes less is more. They have a great line-up of frozen cocktails and great things on tap. If you know what you want that's not on the menu, they can make it for you. Be warned, this is not your typical bar, this is more of a Montrose style bar that have great craft beer selection and vibe, after all, the owners were from Grand Prize Bar and worked at places like Poison Girl, etc. The staffs are friendly and well knowledge on the things served here. Two Headed Dog recently installed a hook & ring game on the outdoor patio area near the formerly bird bath/water fountain table. And the owner inform me at the time that they will install a dart board on the other side of the container. Oh, one of the spot people like to do is take selfie in the restroom right? Well, what better selfie in the restroom when the whole wall is covered with pages from vintage Playboy!? Centrally located on the lower end of Midtown, it's a short walk from either Metro light rail station, or my house for that matter. It's sort of hidden behind a too new-looking wood fence and has a big yellow door. probably about 5050 inside and outdoor space. They've got a pretty well-rounded cocktail menu, assuming you drink real cocktails and appreciate hard liquor. When I stopped in on a Monday early evening, Guava Slayers were only $6, a steal really. Mezcal and guava, I'll take two thanks! Definitely plan to check out more of their menu give it's convenience to the area. read more

Its different in a good way. It's not the biggest bar but what they lack in size they make up in character. The bartenders are great and you get to sample some of the frozen cocktails. They will walk you through their bar options that may look a little strange but they will also make you whatever you want. The HH is average but the patio is great. read more

The classiest dive bar for your senses... Came to meet friends celebrating a special occasion. This is a great intimate space to rally the troupes before hitting the town or chilling back and having a few of their craft cocktails. I told him I wanted something like an Old Fashioned and he recommended the Tiger something...I can't remember the full name but it was like a lightly tropical old-fashioned and I loved it.
