This spot was okay. I ordered the jerk vegan mac with cauliflower and the beet and kale salad. My mom ordered the taco mac- she rated it 3.5/5. My vegan jerk mac was pretty decent, I'd give it about a 3/5. There was flavor but no seasoning if that makes sense. As for the salad, for $6, I am pissed about the amount of salad given. The employee who greeted me at the counter was incredibly friendly and helpful. I wish I caught her name since she really made the experience even better. The pizza mac and cheese surprisingly did taste like pizza! We enjoyed it and it left us satisfied. The entrees are a bit pricy so this restaurant would be a rare treat. I had a Thai Bowl with fried cauliflower added and it was really delicious! I was skeptical walk into Flavor District and ordering an Asian bowl from a mac and cheese place, not to mention seeing the very spartan seating crammed into a narrow space next to a counter with too many staff who didn't seem to be doing anything at all. Yet this was truly good! The dressing that went over the top was a good combination of rich, salty, sweet, and sour, and it made all the vegetables and grains sing. The addition of Thai chili cashews was a great touch, but the cauliflower was my favorite part! Y'all, order the fried cauliflower! I'm not even a vegetarian, but those crisp chunks of cauliflower were to die for and I suspect much better than the meat options they also had. My lunch companion got the bacon jam and pimento mac and loved it. I can't eat that much dairy, so had one small bite and it was indeed yummy, but you'd expect that from a mac and cheese themed restaurant. The bowl was much more surprising. I would gladly eat here again, though think I'd bring a camp chair and eat outside or take it to go as is clearly the model for this place. The ambience indoors really left something to be desired, thus I didn't give the place five stars, though that's the fault of the venue. The Mac House is a hidden gem tucked away in a shopping center in North Raleigh. It is family owned with great customer service and they remember me and what I typically order. I tend to order the same things but do change it up once in a while. As every month, there are special mac n cheese; grilled cheese; salad; soup and cheesecake. The restaurant is casual so you can relax. They have indoor and outdoor seating or you can do carry out. You order at the counter and your meal will be brought to your table. The Mac House isn't your typical grilled cheese or mac n cheese as many variations are offered from pizza to cheeseburger to bacon & truffle to jerk chicken to spinach and artichoke mac n cheese. For grilled cheeses you can get buffalo chicken to pimento with bacon and fried green tomatoes to bbq to caprese pesto. I tend to get the Mac House grilled cheese with garlic seasoned bread or the mac n cheese grilled cheese and it is just like it sounds with mac n cheese inside the grilled cheese. Both are so good. With the mac n cheese I like the seafood one with shrimp. As much as I love the grilled cheese sandwiches and mac n cheese. The salads are my favorite as they are so fresh. So I like that the grilled cheese sandwiches come with a side so I can get the salad with it. Then the mac n cheese grilled cheese gives me the mac n cheese too so I can have it all in one meal. Food Truck Time: The Mac House Food Truck at Bombshell Beer Company The Mac House has a brick and mortar in Raleigh off of Falls which I have not been to yet so I was excited to try their food truck. I ordered the Pimento BLT with a water and bag of chips. The drink and chips were an additional $2.99 and the bag of chips was small so I would not add that on next time. Lunch here today was good! The menu is huge for such a small place, and it's very creative. We finally settled on the Mediterranean Mac and Cheese for me and the Mac Burger for my friend. My dish was loaded with fresh spinach and kalamatas and topped with feta--who knew those ingredients would work so well with mac and cheese? The regular size was almost too much for lunch. My friend loved his burger, but it definitely needed to be eaten with a knife and fork, as the "bun" was actually made from mac and cheese. He added a drink and side (chili) for $3.99. My husband and I absolutely love this place. We originally tried them when they were in the food hall in Smithfield but once they left we have to make an hour long drive to the main location. I went with the Philly cheesesteak mac & cheese, thanks to the recommendation of the woman that waited on me, and it was fabulous. I eat mac & cheese, probably once or twice a week, and this was easily one of the best versions I've ever had. It's extremely rich and filling, but it has fabulous flavor and was lacking nothing. There's classic, buffalo chicken, pizza, bbq, jerk chicken, cheeseburger, veggie options, but I hear bacon and truffle calling my name. It's order and sit down, casual, with plenty of tables. I feel it's more of a lunch place but I could get dinner here too. Fountain sodas to drink. The bacon and truffle mac arrives to my table and it's a good size portion. Oh my goodness! It is creamy, warm, deliciousness! Perfect texture and taste. I did end up taking half home but it was all for show. There are grilled cheeses and salads that looked great too! The "roll" is made of mac and cheese and very crusty but the structural integrity is just not there so that the burger can be picked up. Anyway, the burger was great and I also enjoyed the chili which was very chunky, had a lot of meat, kidney beans, and I think at least one other kind of bean. After trying to figure out what we'd eat on our lunch break, me and a coworker decided to try The Mac House. Despite Covid forcing a lot of places to only serve to go, this place also allows you to dine in as well. So we dined in. The menu is posted on the wall and is broken down into sections based on grill cheese options and mac & cheese options. Of course you have your salads, kids meals and other small options but most of the meals are in the form of grill cheese and Mac & cheese. I decided to go with the Buffalo Chicken grilled cheese with french fries ($7.99) and my coworker ordered the Mac burger which was a burger in the form of Mac and cheese. It took longer than expected but honestly once it came out I forgot all about the time it took. Everything came out hot. Fries were hot, fresh and seasoned and the sandwich was hot as well. The combination of Blue cheese and Monterey cheese was something I never knew I needed. The sandwich was either extremely delicious or I was hungry but either way it was good. It took no time for me to finish my sandwich and fries. 10/10 I would recommend and the customer service was exceptional. read more

You can't miss it. It's a giant chalkboard with small bites, soups, salads, grilled cheese sammies, and mac & cheese. There are so many choices. Note: the grilled cheese comes with a choice of soup, salad or fries. At least ours did :) Place your order and pay at the counter. Fill your drink, pick a spot to sit indoor or outdoor, and wait for them to call your name and they'll bring your order to you. We ordered the bacon and ranch cheese fries, mac and cheese grilled cheese on sourdough with a side salad, and the regular bacon and truffle mac and cheese. Everything was so good and portions were big. We didn't even make a dent in the fries. We boxed them up and half of the bacon and truffle mac and cheese. Service is friendly and I was able to get a fountain drink for free when I checked in on Yelp. Other than the ranch having a bit too much dill, the food was yummy and the wait wasn't too long. Wow! This place is amazing!!!! My friends and I made the drive from Cary yesterday and will be coming back. We had the regular portion and none of us could finish it. It was so cheesy and everything you want in a Mac and cheese. Can't wait to try the other flavors and sandwiches! Staff is very friendly to which is a plus. Only con is the chairs. Found the Mac house on our way to pick up a rental car and needing some comfort food. So many choices you could eat something different for weeks! My son chose off the monthly special board TBA and the soup of the month which he proclaimed was incredible! I got the blt and Mediterranean Mac and cheese which was very good and very filling!
