I've always been a Diced fan since I moved to Raleigh, but this was my first time at this Raleigh location. I ordered the Southwest Crunch with half an avocado, shredded cheddar, black beans, grilled corn, grape tomatoes, red onion, and tortilla strips. I also added chicken. I got both suggested dressings, chipotle ranch and cilantro lime vinaigrette, on the side, but it's a dollar for extra dressing. Good sized portion, very fresh and high quality ingredients. It was about 21 bucks for the salad and a fountain drink. Not at all cheap, but healthy and a fine meal for sure. A few quick notes. The two round flatbread pieces they give out are terrible, I've had communion wafers with more flavor. I guess I can understand now why it's free. I will start by saying the food honestly wasn't bad. It was exactly what you would expect. However, the customer service and atmosphere was pretty bad. Not to mention the price. Upon arrival we were standing waiting to order, neither of the employees working approached us or welcomed us. We stood there for about five minutes before another CUSTOMER told us that the systems were down due a quick power outage. No problem we aren't in a rush. About 5-10 later we start ordering. It was our first time there and I had some questions about the menu. The younger male working rudely answered my questions but didn't actually answer them. I digress everybody has a bad day. A manager I believe walked in around the same time and sat down at the only 4 person table in the restaurant. I was there with my husband and two children and now we had to sit at a table for two people. No problem we can deal with that. It wasn't until a man who left diced as we were walking in, came back in as we are ordering to inform the employees that he had found a hair in his food. Was immediately no longer interested in eating there but our food was being made already and every restaurant has a bad moment where something like that happens. No problem, we go to pay for our food. $50. I'll repeat that. $50 for TWO salads as me and my husband both shared with our children. Two salads and two fountain drinks is unbelievable for a salad place and the service we received. The younger ginger employee was also so rude to my husband when listed under dressings it said "salt & pepper" my husband a full grown adult with a relatively high IQ asked, "just curious if that's actually a dressing or just salt and pepper?" Because once again it was listed under DRESSINGS. God forbid the man is confused. The younger ginger employee was so rude. Honestly I will pay a pretty penny for a good quality salad with high quality ingredients which this sort of was, but the overall treatment and atmosphere was so horrible. You start by choosing your base, which can be a bed of greens, a wrap, or rice. Then you choose from either a pre-selected topping pairing or the option to build your own. Lastly, you choose from a homemade salad dressing. (I went with cilantro lime and was not disappointed!) Outside of the food, I especially appreciated that the menu provided nutrition facts like calories and protein, which is incredibly helpful. It's an ideal spot for a quick, wholesome meal. Wow, this place is a gem! We only went here because we wanted to try Cinnaholic next door at lunch time. The salads were SO GOOD!! I got the Thai one and added the tofu. It was delicious! Spicy in the best way. I got the ginger carrot dressing. So great to have delicious vegan options with things actually labeled on the menu! Next time I will get the grains base just to try it. The restaurant was very clean. Fountain soda and canned sodas were available. The staff was kind and attentive. I will definitely return here. Today I melted and gave in to a test drive with Diced! If you love salads, rice bowls, wraps, then this is the place for you. The decor is so lovely. The location is prime to Cameroon village. It sits right outside of the area. There is a FREE parking garage back behind the establishment so fear not the parking lot lol. The food... Mannnn oh man! What an experience. I was greeted by Daniel who was super duper helpful. I must have had the estranged lost new customer look on my face because he was sure to help guide me through the menu. He made some amazing suggestions. I went with his suggestion of trying the The southwest Crunch!!!! OMGGGGGG!!!!!!!! It was so good. It's loaded with chunks of avacado, shredded cheddar, black beans, tortilla chips, grilled corn and more. I'm not even a fan of Avocado but it was so good in this dish. The salads are priced at the $10-$11 price point which isn't bad as your getting a large salad. Some people may not even be able to finish it all in one seating. Updating my review because Diced made it right! I can appreciate great customer service. Diced reached out and acknowledged that our salads were undersized, and offered us another try. We went back to Diced and had a better experience. Unfortunately my fiancé ordered his salad, and only at the very end of the ordering process (after they diced everything up) did they tell us that the dressing accompanying his salad was not available. Of course it would have been great if they told us that in advance. But my fiancé selected a different dressing and moved on. Not ideal but certainly not a deal breaker. All in all: i will likely be back. It's a great healthy meal. I'd just recommend you make sure you get your money's worth (don't be afraid to ask for more!) read more

This is the only time I have left a review for Diced as I say goodbye. I have been a longtime fan of this restaurant and will go out of my way to buy a salad. My obsession was the Southwest Crunch with the balsamic marinated tofu. However, I found over time that the consistency in taste varied from its Cary location to the one on Oberlin Road. Now, they both are the same. Bland, chocked full of salad, and barely any fixings accompanying the order - black beans, corn, tomatoes, etc. They are carefully dolled out and lost within the mountain of mixed greens. As I eat my final salad from this establishment, I do so because I am hungry. Not because I am enjoying it. I used to lament that there wasn't a Diced close to my home in North Raleigh. I have been wanting to try Diced out for awhile after seeing all the good Yelp reviews and following them on Instagram. I'll be honest and say my go to is Chop't just because I'm usually in that plaza. I made it a point to head on over and try out Diced yesterday because they are locally owned and I'd rather support local. Parking is actually much easier here when you consider they have a huge free parking garage behind the plaza which scores them some major points. I went in for an early dinner and the employee running the counter did not seem super thrilled to have a customer. If he would have been a bit friendlier it would have been the perfect experience. The guy who checked me out was quite friendly. On to the menu, as others have mentioned they have set salads/wraps but you can also make your own. I went with the buffalo chicken with a few substitutions/add ins. I know they probably hate the comparison, but something I wish they did like Chop't does is ask if you want your salad chopped more. The tomatoes in my salad were still pretty much whole and I would have liked things just a tad more diced up. Also would be nice to be able to add in salt or pepper during the mixing (they do have it near the drinks once you get your food). Okay now on to where I think they blow Chop't out of the water--the chicken. Man oh man was that chicken delicious! Like I really think they might cook it there and shred it fresh, you can 100% taste the difference in that department. I think that is where being a small locally owned business comes in, they work with local farmers to get their meat. The interior is nice and has quite a few booths if you want to dine in. They also have a pretty large selection of outdoor seats on the sidewalk if you are interested in eating your salad there. But be warned, if you sit outside you are so close to Gigi's cupcakes that it will take all your will power to not trash being healthy and eating a salad by finishing it off with a cupcake. (Low key digging the R&B vibes that were playing) I built my own: Salad bowl with a mix of spinach, kale, and Artisan mix base, local grass fed sirloin, bacon, feta cheese, cilantro, tomato, cucumber, black beans, pinch of red onion, and white balsamic dressing... and of course I got it chopped an mixed. (Next time I have to add in a boiled egg for sure) Disclaimer: The bowl may be enough for 2, I am a 6'2" 225 male and I was stuffed. Beginning to end a perfect example of how eating out should always be experienced. I was welcomed before the door even closed behind me by Maurice (cool dude & killing the salad game). He was enthusiastic to help me build my salad and was a joy to be served by. My meal was so good, literally the best salad I have eaten. Everything was FRESH, no rotten lettuce or spoiled toppings, and the meat wasn't over cooked at all. I almost went to J. Alexander's but did a quick search and I was so glad to find DICED. I have had many salads in my lifetime but none as good as the ones I have been getting from DICED. My favorite is to add chicken to the Southwest crunch salad and pair it with the cilantro lime dressing. Not to mention each time I've gone, the service has been excellent. The salad is not cheap (at all) but the serving size is pretty large. Also, getting a parking space in the front lot can be a bit hit or miss but I typically go right before the lunch rush (around 11:45am) to avoid that issue. With the array of toppings available there is the perfect salad for everyone. Located in the plaza off of Oberlin Road, there is plenty of parking as well as outdoor seating available. Was craving something healthy and green while in the area -- and I thought I'd give this place a try since I'm not really a fan of its closest competitor (Chopt). All things considered, I think my experience rounds out at 3.5 stars. I ordered the Vegan salad (to which I added fresh shrimp). I thought the flavor profile was just "OK." I can't quite put my finger on what I didn't like or what two ingredients I thought didn't work well together... In any event though, I was hungry and I ate the whole thing. But it just wasn't spectacular by any means, if you get my drift. Additionally, the portion size was a bit small. When you get a salad from the competitor salad place, it fills the bowl. But here, my bowl definitely wasn't full. My one other issue is with food handling practices there. I'm a firm believer in food service workers knowing how to handle food and prevent contamination, ESPECIALLY in places like this one where your food isn't heated to kill germs after preparation. When I first went in to place my order, I needed some time to look at the menu. When the salad maker staffer greeted me (as friendly as she was), she used her gloved finger to wipe the side of her nose. I asked her to change her gloves, and she quickly obliged. But had I not had the happenstance of seeing her do that in that exact moment (or had she done it a minute before I entered the store), I never would have known that my salad was being fixed by someone with dirty contaminated gloves.
