I would probably go to this show every weekend if they had it. A magic duel between two talented magicians while they hilariously continued to insult each other during the show. With the flawless magic and the chemistry between the two, it made for an unforgettable night. It's also a plus that their show is at the Mayflower, arguably one of the most beautiful hotels in the city. Will be coming again for sure! read more

Fun date night activity! Mark and Brian were funny entertainers! The jokes definitely made the show! They had a few dirty jokes but not too many. Love the political humor for being in DC. Mark is funny, very energetic. Brian is skilled, entertaining. During the intermission audience members get to vote on their smartphones on a website for the best magician. They have a few magic prop type things for sale. Bar and restaurant upstairs in the mayflower hotel was classy- had full selection of alcohol and desserts to order of wanted before the show. We saved seats for ourselves 40 mins before the show started then went upstairs for a drink and headed back downstairs for the start of the show. We bought our tickets for general admission through Groupon for 50% off and that was definitely worth it. They also have "VIP" seating and that is just the first row. read more

Went to The Magic Duel comedy show tonight and have nothing but great things to say! I bought tickets for myself and fiancée for his birthday. He is much more partial to magic shows than I am, but I can confidently say that everyone will love this show. Brian and Mark have amazing stage presence and a great rapport with one another. Great show, and a lot of fun. The magicians are clearly very talented, and have put a lot of work into their act. They had a good amount of audience participation, and the show really moved along. Really the only thing I could have done without were the politics jokes -- going out at night I want to get away from that kind of thing -- but they weren't too bad. For those who were wondering how long the show is, it's 90 minutes with an intermission, if you're planning dinner reservations too. My daughter had seen this show and loved it, so last night she took a few of us to see it. It was absolutely fantastic! Funny and very entertaining, these guys know their stuff. The magic was fascinating - mind-blowing at times - and the presentation was so fun. Members of the audience were called up at times, but unlike other comedy shows I've been to, they weren't embarrassed by what they were asked to do. THIS DYNAMIC DUO DOESN'T DISAPPOINT! Brian Curry and Mark Phillips will have you laughing, clapping, astonished! The magic is mystifying and the comedy delightful and razor sharp. They have tremendous chemistry and wit, and the magic is top notch. You're sitting right there in front of them and can't see how it's done! The audience participation is fantastic (and there's no safe seat in the house)! I love walking to the elevator after a show and listening to everyone's animated comments and someone will usually say "how'd they do that?" We have seen The Magic Duel several times and just stopped by this past weekend for A Gentleman and Liar, and we'll be going back for both again! No 2 shows are exactly the same. It's a great venue to take out-of-town visitors for a one-of-a-kind experience, but also a blast for someone celebrating a birthday or just a lovely date night at the beautiful Mayflower Hotel, easily accessible by Metro. I went at the recommendation of an acquaintance who is in the industry. I was skeptical that I was going to be entertained, but we ended up having fantastic experience. Nearly all of the members in our group were engaged in some way by the performers. We laughed so much and by the end of the night we decided to book tickets to their new show next month to celebrate my husband's birthday. I have been telling anyone who will listen about the Magic Duel. I would have to disagree with some of the other reviews that said the VIP row wasn't engaged more often. You still had a great chance at being selected to participate in any seat, but our front rows were engaged quite a bit. read more

i love magic (who doesn't?!) and finding a magic show in this area harder than you think! i was really excited to find "catch me" and it just so happened to fall on my friend's birthday weekend. we booked VIP/front row tickets via goldstar. they were a great price ($40) and totally worth it. i think paying full price would have been a bit much though. i only say this because i was sitting so close i could see a few slip ups :) besides that i was pretty mind blown. the magic show is currently held in a ballroom at the mayflower hotel. the hotel parking is pricey but there is a garage around the corner that isn't so bad ($20). the hotel is pretty and the entire experience is a nice little fancy treat. brian and mark are entertaining and funny. they literally duel it out and trash talk in three rounds with their magic and you can vote for the winner during intermission they finish the show working together. there is a lot of audience participation, especially for the birthday girl. they do some magic up close during intermission but it was really hard to see with so many people and i missed all it. i wish they could both do small groups at the same time to divide up the crowd. we had a great time and now i signed up with my email to be notified for more magic shows! read more

If you're looking for a fun night out, this show is the bomb. Forget sticky bars and douchebags; AdMo just got way more magical. My colleagues and I attended the Friday show, and Brian and Mark did not disappoint. There were cheesy jokes, dirty jokes, bewildering tricks, and a buttload of laughs. I forget the last time I laughed that hard-- and there was a wide demographic of audience members, too! From a thirteen-year old to a couple that had been married nearly 50 years, all guests were eligible volunteers for the show. In the words of my boyfriend, "Those guys were great!!! But I think the voting was rigged because Brian's the best!" Yeah, you get to vote for your favorite magician. It's a hilarious set up. And really, everyone wins. Especially if you happen to be in an audience with a hilarious bald German man who really takes the jokes in stride when pressed. As of today, there are 2 more shows: Nov 14 and Nov 15. This was FANTASTIC - high-quality magic (with great slight-of-hand tricks) in a casual environment. I've seen a lot of magic performances, including at the Magic Castle in L.A. This was easily on par with those. The small audience makes it feel intimate, and the lovely Biltmore Mansion is a perfect setting.
