Only once had a bad meal served here and they took care of it immediately. Mistakes happen and Main Cup rectified it at once. Great salads, sandwiches and soups. Deserts are just too good. We stopped for a late lunch after the first Yelp recommendation was closed. The name is extremely misleading. The food was really good. I had an Ahi sandwich and my daughter had a cheeseburger. I ordered shrimp salad sandwich with side salad. The shrimp was a little sweet maybe miracle whip was used instead of mayo? But it was good. It was on a croissant that was hard. A friend order appetizer an spinach dip with pita triangles which was great. Could eat a bag of the pita triangles. Another friend got the fried green beans which were very good. Lately, we've been venturing just outside of Frederick for a change of pace. For the longest time I was under the impression that the Main Cup was just a coffee joint, and I am not a coffee drinker. Luckily, a coworker convinced me otherwise. Later, I had to convince my mother in law that it was just not a coffee place so we could take some family there, too. The Main Cup is a beautiful restaurant with delicious Bistro food and an excellent burger. BUT their service is terrible. The waitstaff is friendly but everything takes FOREVER. My family never eats there if we have anywhere else that we have to be on time. I regularly wait 15 minutes to even place an order and I'm sad to say up to an hour for simple dishes like the afore mentioned burger. Getting drink refills etc? Lets just say my husband quickly figured out he'd have more luck taking his glass to the bar and asking for a refill there instead of waiting for the waitstaff to notice, let alone refill his glass. I've tried many items on the menu but the one I always come back to is the Steak and Onion Salad. It's my absolute favorite. Other favorites include their Build Your Own Bruschetta or Hot Crab Dip appetizers. And if your meal comes with a side of fries, pay the little bit extra and substitute their sweet potato fries. First time eating here and it was fantastic. We had the bruschetta and split a side salad for appetizers. The bruschetta was served as make your own and had a nice twist. Warm triangles of something like a cross between pita and naan, soft goat cheese, chopped black olives and cold roasted tomatoes.... really delicious. The blue cheese dressing for the side salad was perfect and homemade. We ordered the Maryland burger which is a cheeseburger with ample crab on top. The burger was cooked perfectly as ordered and the bun was exactly right. We also ordered the mahi mahi sandwich. This was a thick large piece of fish also cooked perfectly. We also ordered a well done bigger to go and they put the order in too soon so it was out halfway through our meal and rare as can be but I totally appreciated that they do not use plastic or styrofoam for take out. The ambiance is nice though it was a bit hard to hear a conversation in the dining room. We had to ask for small plates to share the bruschetta and the waitress looked surprised when we asked and then brought just one. It was also tedious to make the bruschetta with the two large spoons that came out with it. They would do better with a small cheese knife and either tongs for the tomatoes or and extra fork. We used to love the main cup but over the last two years I feel like their service has gone way down hill. The other day was our tipping point of no return. The waitress took a long time to come over for our drink order, then took even longer for our food order. We ordered chips and guacamole as a starter, I'm fairly certain they get the guacamole pre-made and the salsa is Pace brand, nothing to brag about and would never order it again. When our food finally came, the burger was grossly soggy, the chicken tenders were cold, fries were luke warm, and they got my order wrong. Once they brought me the correct dish, it was pretty tasteless and again, nothing to recommend. Our waitress only came over to get our initial drink order and give us our bill.
