Love the vibe of this place. Cozy seating for two or ample seating for 6-8. Very sweet decor, feels welcoming. There are a few steps to get in the door, I'm not sure if there is a handicap entrance. I had the raspberry oatmeal, thinking it would just have rasberries in it. I should have read the menu better, it actually had some sort of fruit syrup mixed in it, made it a less healthy choice than I wanted. Still, very yummy and I practically licked the bowl clean. The person at the counter could not be more hospitable, kind and helpful. I didn't catch his name, I would love to give him a shoutout. I don't normally leave reviews, but I had to this time! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. From the moment you walk in, you get that clean, welcoming hometown atmosphere that instantly makes you feel comfortable. But the best part is the food! This was our third time there and everything we tried has been absolutely delicious! My personal favorite is the homemade butternut squash soup. I'm very particular about butternut squash soup, and this is hands down the best I've ever had! You can truly taste the care and quality in every bite. Highly recommend! read more

What went well? Everything. New Neighbor and I went to pickup clams at Lighthouse Seafood (the absolute best place in town for fish, thank you!) in New Market, but stopped at Prospect Pantry on the way. Glad we did. I had an excellent Reuben (not as much corned beef as you'd get at Katz's in NYC but the price was not $33.95 either). He had smoked salmon on an everything bagel (and since they get bagels delivered several times a week from a mysterious source on Long Island) the sandwich was legit. Icing on the cake: they make an excellent Irish Coffee using Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey. Very warming on a cold day. Total price with tip was about what the Katz's Reuben costs and New Market is a much closer drive. The Guy At The Counter was personable and knowledgeable and he delivered food promptly. Great food, knowledgeable staff, excellent ambiance, great value. I've already staked a claim to one of their outdoor seats once this Wretched Winter is done. Woo hoo! read more

Stopped into Prospect Pantry for a quick bite with my in-laws on the way back to Frederick from the airport. What a delightful experience! It was a bit crowded with lots of locals and bikers (their beautiful bikes were lined up outside) but by the time we ordered our food, a table opened up and we were able to sit and enjoy our sandwiches. I was delighted to see they offered several gluten-free options, and I ended up getting a BLT on a GF everything bagel. Kendall recommended the salted caramel cold brew and both the sandwich and coffee did not disappoint! My in-laws split the Reuben and were impressed with the amount of meat on the sandwich. The BLT was piled high with bacon and the tomatoes were beautiful... none of those sad little colorless ones here. MIL is self-professed "picky" about restrooms and she gave theirs the gold star of approval "it's nice and clean!" she said. Overall, a 5-star experience. read more

Adorable little spot in New Market! I tried the Chicken Ceasar. It was an ample portion, romaine, parmesan, croutons, all beautifully dressed with just the right amount of tasty dressing. It came topped with what seemed like pulled roasted chicken, which was also a generous portion. Looking back at the menu, thats exactly what they described. The only feedback I have, is that the chicken while tender and plentiful, was bland. There's no salt and pepper on the tables, so there was no immediate way to add seasoning without bothering the staff. So the cold shredded chicken, in my opinion, took away from the salad. So just keep that in mind. Maybe ask for a little more dressing, or scope out the condiment choices when you stop in. But it was a good salad that with better planning on my part could have been a great salad, and a good portion for the price. Staff was lovely and attentive. The rest of the food coming out all looked good too. read more

Close to frederick about a 12-13 minute drive in the middle of their new market shopping strip. Very pleasant cashiers/hostesses, a variety of items to choose off the menu. Prospect Pantry is easy to overlook, right along Main Street (MD Route 144), amid a long row of similar-appearing historic houses-turned-antique-stores-turned-maybe-houses-again. There is a colorful flag out front but driver's need a passenger to spot the business before just zooming by (desite the zealously enforced 25 mph limit). We found our way to PP on President's Day for lunch. Upon our 1130 arrival we learned that PP usually is closed Monday's but opened on this day because of school's being closed and the weather being weirdly warm for February. The engaging person behind the counter (we only saw two employees the whole time there) explained it was somewhat of a business experiment to be open on a day when usually they are closed. The experiment seems to have been a rousing success - PP was crowded with many Moms and little kids by the time we left shortly after noon. (Barney videos on a big screen would have held the attention of many patrons!). The 5-year-old contingent was present in full force! There is a fairly diverse menu of sandwiches and paninis and breakfast foods, from which one orders at the counter. Food is brought to you; you can wait at one of several little tables (Note: its easy to imagine PP filled to capacity on a busy weekend in warmer weather). Services is competent but no-frills - your sandwich will be packed to go in a little cardboard box. The PP business model appears not to entail doing dishes, which is fine but would be better with outdoor seating options (there appear to be none). What we got was tasty enough, but one might envision some chips or something to be poured into that little box next to the sandwich (there were none). What they do at PP they do well. Clearly this is a business still in its development stage - it will be interesting to see what passes with more time and business experience for the owners. read more

We decided that the puppy needed to be left at home for some quality separation and anxiety quelling time so I decided that we finally needed to check out prospect pantry. We came for some coffee and breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches (i got the avocado toast and the boy got a breakfast sandwich) was good. We both wished that they have an espresso machine since we both wanted lattes but the boy ended up with a cold brew, and I ended up with a hot coffee with one of the specialty syrups in. While these were good, I still wish there was the option of lattes. We will be back for sure, maybe in the summer more than the winter time since both of us are fans of steamed milk + espresso when its cooler out and cold brew when its warmer. What a WONDERFUL little find! We do a yearly family event to cut down our Christmas tree. We were all pretty hungry, thirsty and looking for a local place to grab a bite to eat. We called first because they were close to closing time and did not want to inconvenience the staff. The person on the phone was very kind and said it would not be a problem... as soon as we pulled up we loved the ambience both outside and in. The gentleman behind the counter (believe his name is Kelvin) was so welcoming despite the time. A very well rounded menu with multiple great options. Darling decor and had a nice big table for all of us. Between the sandwiches, açaí bowls and coffee we were very pleased with the high quality of their food. Excellent food, service and athnosphere. While I have been delayed in leaving a review, I owed this review due to the amazing service provided by Kendall and the cafes management. I stopped in a few weeks ago on my way home to Frederick from Baltimore and I was amazed on the cafes quaint and cozy atmosphere. I had a ham and cheese panini and it was sublime. It came wrapped up in the this nice little box and it was perfectly completed My deepest gratitude and appreciation to the staff as I will be returning in the near future when I am in route to Baltimore once again.
