The Rabbit Hole was recommended by one of the shop owners (Tenfold Fair Trade). We looked at the menu posted outside and saw a Charcuterie Board on there. We were a party of 2 and asked to sit outside. The hostess had a table quickly cleaned off for us and were sat within 2 minutes - it's beautiful outside - love the little sting lights, mountain/hills and got to see several trains pass through. Our server was fantastic - I didn't catch his name, but very attentive and friendly. When we ordered the Charcuterie Board, he said we wouldn't be disappointed and he was right. Not only was the presentation impressive - love the wooden boards- it was generous amounts! Two large cheeses (Fontina and Brie), two types of meats (prosciutto and a spicy salami type), candied walnuts, blueberries, mix of Kalamata and green olives, fig jam, and baguette. Great quality, great quantity, and so good! We ended up taking about a 1/3 of it home with us and enjoyed next day with sourdough from Bolivar Bread. The food at other tables looked just as delicious. I'd absolutely return next time I'm back in Harper's Ferry.

3 stars for service, otherwise super disappointed. We saw quite a few reviews from travel blogs raving about coming here but it was a total let down and we almost ordered an appetizer of the Bavarian pretzels and the people next to us, who have been there before, chimed in and told us not to get them but that the pretzels were good just not the cheese. I got the C&O canal sandwich, super plain, no flavor, just bleh. My boyfriend got the bbq sandwich and it also lacked flavor tremendously. Our server was nice, ambiance was quiet and easy going.

My partner and I came for lunch today on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. We were seated at a nice table overlooking the train station with the mountain in the background. The table had an umbrella, so we were able to enjoy the outdoors without being in the sun. We ordered the Cobb Salad ($20) and Red Rice and Hemp Burger ($15) with a side salad instead of fries (additional $2 for the salad). The Cobb salad was very good. Large portion with big chunks of moist chicken. The salad was fresh and tasty. Italian dressing was good. The "Hemp" Burger was a new one on me, but essentially i understand it is a rice-based burger with Hemp seeds for protein. It comes in a large bun with caramelized onion and bbq sauce. I liked it. It has a mild flavor, the patty is pretty soft and the combination of flavors was very pleasant. The "side" salad was large and very fresh. I enjoyed the vinaigrette very much. Unfortunately, our server went AWOL after dropping off our food. We had a question and he wasn't around. My water glass was empty and no sight. My partner's water glass was empty for a while and - I kept looking around - but no sighting. I finally did something I hate to do, which is to call over another server, but we both were thirsty and needed something to drink. That server was very nice and promptly came over with a water pitcher for us. The bad service really wrecked what was otherwise a good meal in a nice atmosphere. So, here's the thing. I considered giving 3 stars for this review based on the service. (We actually thought the server had quit - it was ridiculous - the place wasn't crowded at all.). But, the other servers in the area were working really hard and one did come over quickly to help out, so I'm going to hope for the best. I do want to send a message in this review to the restaurant that this did leave a bad feeling. I doubt we'll be back. Too bad.

What an amazing place! I loved the ambiance and their really nice views. They have a very friendly staff and food was incredible. I love a good fish & chips and this was definitely one of a kind. The meal included hush puppies and a side of coleslaw + tarter. Loved every single bite. It also was my very first time trying a blueberry cider and it was awesome. Very refreshing. Definitely the best place to eat if you're visiting Harpers Ferry, no doubt.

Arrived around 2pm on a Wednesday, no wait for us and our pup for the patio. The food is solid bar grub, paying about what you'd expect in a high traffic touristy spot - but we were satisfied with what we got. The fish was fried well and the fries were great. The portion for fish and chips was pretty large too, we had leftovers to bring home. Parking may be hard in the peaks of busy season, but there were plenty of spots for us midday on a weekday in April. All in all, we enjoyed spending an afternoon eating lunch outdoors with a cold beer after a nice long hike.

Came here for dinner after snowtubing nearby. There weren't many food options around and The Rabbit Hole seemed like the best option for our group. We had about a 30 min wait before we were seated. Once seated, our server was pretty attentive to our large group. The food was good and typical for a pub. Some items we ordered (but didn't get photos of) were: - Bavarian Pretzel Rods 4/5 - Braised Short Rib Poutine 5/5 - Crabless "Crabcake" Sandwich - Phillbilly Cheesesteak - St. Louis Style Pork Ribs 5/5 - Blue Ridge Burger 4/5 Overall, decent food in an area where there aren't many choices to start with.

Good food and service. Loved the "crab less" crab cake sandwich. View was amazing!

Great food, service, and outdoor view of the train and the town! We came for lunch yesterday and it took a while to be seated because there was a long line waiting for them to open. Our waiter was great and our appetizers came super quick. I got the pierogies and they were not very good they honestly just tasted like they fried up Mrs T's frozen pierogies. The pulled pork fries were sooooo good! My boys were happy with their burgers and it was a good dining experience.

I decided to make a late run out to HP as I've never been before & I was pleasantly surprised. I had already walked a portion of the AT and to my surprise was able to cross over a train bridge with no issues as I'm not a fan of heights. If you like history (I do) you'll enjoy learning about it here. I found the entire area to be quite inviting & just a walk down history. After enjoying the town a bit, ended up at the Rabbit Hole, the name caught me. When you walk in you are greeted with what you would think would be a federal offense, signs from National Parks, which I thought were interesting because if you have an unlimited budget, you may never be able to buy such pieces. It was cold and I asked whatever is available, ended up outside in a bubble with a heat lamp which you would think you'd have to pay extra for. It was a nice surprise. I was extremely impressed by the fish & chips, it's been one of the best I've ever had cooked absolutely PERFECTLY! Even after 15 mins, the fish was still steaming! Very impressed, you can't go wrong stopping here for a meal. Buen Provecho!

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. Unfortunately, we had an underwhelming experience. While service was great and the restaurant had intriguing decor. Our meals just didn't do it for us. We left our meals almost untouched, just picking at the entree and fries. Our drinks were refreshing and delightful. Glad that I finally gave the Rabbit Hole a try.

visiting in the winter time was such a different vibe, but we enjoyed it a lot! they have little bubbles around the patio tables with heaters inside which made the dining experience feel so cozy and private. our server was super nice and checked up on us often. the cheesesteak was a decent portion and was delicious. the chicken tenders arent the best, but the fries and ranch are my favorite! there is something special to them. will definitely be returning.

We had dinner on our one evening in Harper's Ferry at this restaurant in town. We weren't super impressed seated outside in one of the cute little dome covered heated tables which was a first time for us to eat like that. The service was great and the food delicious. Had a salad and some chicken tenders. We would definitely come back if we are in that city again!

A cool location in an old building with a fresh water grotto in the middle, which we luckily got the table right in front of it. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly, and let me have a tasting of the lemonade before order a full glass. We ordered a bunch of snacks to share: hush puppies, Bavarian pretzel rods with cheese fondue, fried pierogies (I would skip them; they were a bit doughy and chewy), and limoncello cake. My favorite thing was the crabless "crabcake", their vegetarian version made with artichoke hearts. I liked the outside crisp, creamy interior, Old Bay seasoning, and the artichokes gave the perfect texture. I also liked their t-shirts so much that I bought one!

Food took a little longer than expected but it was worth the wait. The red pepper pesto with linguine was creamy and rich and topped with fresh Parmesan. I only wish I'd had a piece of bread to sop up the sauce at the end! I'd be interested in trying their brunch and lunch options if I'm in the area again. Our server, Tom, was attentive. I've been to Brunswick several times in my life and I've always loved the town so I was excited to see someone put a brewery in since the last time I had been there. We stopped in on an early Saturday evening and it was pretty busy because they had live music which was good. We walked right up to the counter and I ordered: - ROYGBIV Power Sour 5/5 - Bar Room Hero Hazy IPA 5/5 We then proceeded to grab a table outside and enjoy our beers while listening to the music and watching all the people enjoy themselves too while we laughed and had good conversation. We hadn't ate much all day so we decided to get something light to eat. My girlfriend walked up to the counter and ordered us a hot dog and Brie with Jam and Pita. The hot dog was decent but the Brie and chips were disgusting to say the least. The price for the Brie was even more disgusting than it tasted for a very small wheel of store bought stale tasting cheese and even staler chips, yikes! I love the building, its history, the whole layout, and vibes of this brewery, but I'd never order food from here again. EVER! Great music! Excellent whiskies and beers. Ambiance like a really nice barn :-)…read more We wanted a Memorial Day (2025) daytrip from greater-Baltimore. Harper's Ferry is very close! Like an hour (ish) drive. So what's happening in HP? The Barn out Washington St. had a MemorialDay weekend all-day mostly-country music event 2pm to 10:30pm! Very nice. They have a great little bar inside, and sometimes have food from one of the restaurants across the parking lot, or just walk over for takeout, or i think i read that they deliver here. By the way, parking can get a little tight for a bigger event like this one, but we were early enough, maybe 1pm, and we scored a space when someone left. I might as well add that there's several clean restrooms sort of across from the bar. We settled into a huge comfy couch near the back of the hall, behind the seating for roughly 30 at tables and picnic tables. There was also seating for roughly 20 at tables out on a deck. The first solo singer-guitarist, D.C.'s Kate Smiles, had a lovely voice and sweetly original interpretations of rock and pop and country songs that i knew, and a presence that made me say, Hey, Wow, I can relax in this mellow mood with a really nice whiskey from a list that my local bar would envy. By the way, they were out of the local whiskey, Devil's Due, so i had a warming fiery oaky slightly-sweet Elijah Craig bourbon, neat, with a water back. Mmmmm. The second musician, W.V.'s Andrew Copenhaver, moved among soulful blues and country, some classics, some modern. He could put an edge on his voice, and he could hit some deep bass notes, so it was a real pleasure when he gave us Folsom Prison Blues. When you can hit that low note, you have a right to do some Johnny Cash. By now i was into some crisp local beers. That little bar really has everything, including a versatile bartender who made every drink we knew, and we sampled his skills as the third musician, NoVA's Mark Cullinane, took the stage. He had a wide range of country songs, including a moving original that made us feel we were driving in our pickup behind his dad's. He had a great rich tone and great range. Like the second musician, he used some kind of looper to create full layers of harmony. What with all the beverages, we started to fade a little as the music moved into the set by NoVA's seriously-country Rowdy Ace Band around 8pm. They really lit up the hall and the patio and probably a good piece of nearby Harpers Ferry. We eventually moved on to our reservations for dinner across the parking lot at Snallygaster's restaurant. But that's another story. We had a terrific afternoon and evening. The Barn will definitely be one of our go-to spots in this town, and we'll be looking to hear these musicians again!

If you want an environment that cares more about selling large quantities of alcohol to already intoxicated people, you've also found the place. The prime rib couldn't have been worse if they tried. It tasted like it had been bathed in liquid smoke and salt water. The meat was over cooked for the medium I ordered and it had the consistency of a cheap sirloin that can only be achieved when you don't take the time to cook it correctly. The au jus was too salty and Smokey to use- literally like a 50/50 mix liquid smoke and saltwater. The baked potato was ok on the inside but the skin and about 1/2" of the outer portions were tough as shoe leather. I don't know how that's even possible. Drink refills were few and far between. The servers are all great kids from the local high school who try hard, but the only reason they got a tip was because they are local kids that my kids know- not because the service was great. When you add in drink servers who are motivated by money and enabled by a lack of leadership- you get a bunch of loud drunks. Throw in live music and you're guaranteed to have a place so loud you can't hear anyone at your table trying to talk. The banana pudding used to be our favorite so we ordered two to go, we ended up throwing one away and the other was left half eaten. It tastes like store bought pudding with cheap whipped topping- nothing else. We have a three strikes rule and this was strike #3, definitely not coming back here. If you want quality food for the masses, Andy's down the street has great pizza for a fraction of the price of this place. Daughter Thai across the street is about the same price point as 1836, but offers consistent quality in their food with an atmosphere perfect for a family dinner. If you're looking for overpriced bar food and a place that doesn't care how many drinks you've had- I think this is the perfect place for you and your fraternity brothers. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer is good and their schnitzel platter is great, just avoid the steaks, prime rib, drinks that need refills, anything with fries and you're fine. This is our third attempt in three years and we are done. Which is sad because there aren't many options in town. Deep breath in...Unless you count the time when they closed for the night unexpectedly and we ordered them via their website because they forgot to turn off their system so they charged us and it took an hour before their system realized nothing was happening and we had to wait almost a week for them to refund the money but the owner emailed it was coming and didn't apologize or explain why they left their orders on when they closed because he really didn't seem to care about it....inhales deeply to catch breath...then this was trip #4. Either way, this place is scratched off the list unless we are looking for a bar with loose moral standards and not food.

Stopped here with a bunch of friends after a going away party. Our group of 7 was able to be seated…read moreimmediately on a Saturday night!! Impressive!!! The restaurant was not overly busy and offered both indoor and outdoor seating. We loved the live music. Our server was phenomenal. The food was pretty solid. There are lots of options for apps, drinks, meals, and dessert! Would definitely return in the future!
