I go with clients so I can bill the meal to my job as an expense because my bill is always more than I was expecting but if you want great you do have to pay for it! I came here with friends for lunch one day when headed back to DC. It's a nice little spot in what I suppose is their downtown area, and is MUCH larger on the inside than you'll think from the street--there was a bridal party with 55 guests in a room! The omelette was a little oniony for me, in an overpowering way, although the guac on the top was a nice touch. Nice fresh fruit on the side as well, and with GOOD pineapple, which is hard to find around here in the fall. One friend had the crab cake sandwich, which she thought had a substantial portion of crab but wasn't anything special. The service was noticeably slow, as people who came in long after us received their food first, but the restaurant was apologetic and gave us a free item for the wait. They have a pretty cool interior, and I noticed that there were flyers for some sort of jazz night, which is probably great! On the whole, a fine place if you're passing through. read more

Went for brunch. There was two of us. The menu is limited so if you have kids that want pancakes or French toast go somewhere else. We got seated quickly as there were not many customers. We waited for over 15 minutes before a server asked if anyone had been to the table yet. She gave us water and our server finally arrived. The food was ok. Not much flavor in the crab cake Benedict. The grapefruit mimosa was very good though. Prices are high and was over $65 without tip for two people. The Main Cup was successful and a favorite of many townies and others. It's a shame that you don't use Hemp's meat anymore. The burger meat was fabulous. Changing items like the crab dip and eliminating other items plus and raising prices is a turnoff. Just because you own the restaurant in Frederick doesn't mean you have to align your menu with that restaurant and use all the same suppliers. This is what stinks when New owners take over a restaurant that has been a favorite for years. Not a fan! read more

This is a cute little spot that we found after Hiking part of the Appalachian trail. It's in a cute little town and it's an adorable set up with twinkle lights and both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress got to see it quickly and we all chose various lunch items. They have lemonade and you can mix a flavor in there to make it unique -- I tried mixing peach and it was delicious. I was torn between the buffalo chicken sandwich and a barbecue chicken sandwich. I ended up choosing the buffalo chicken sandwich because I do not eat bacon and that is part of the barbecue chicken sandwich. When it came time to get our food I found out that a different waiter had taken my sandwich and given it to someone at a different table and was offered a barbecue chicken sandwich. Unfortunately because of my dietary restrictions I was not able to take that sandwich and had to sit while my friends were eating. For the sides we got the creamy pesto pasta. After waiting for a few moments I requested our waitress to bring me my side so at least I would have something to eat while my friends were eating. My food came out a while later and everything was delicious once I had it. The onion ribbons were so delicious! I've honestly never eaten such yummy onions in all my life. read more

A great place hidden in plain view. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but huge on the inside. Lots of parking behind.the bank I tried the grilled cheese with crab imperial, it was fantastic. I saw a few other sandwiches and meals come out and they all looked great. For the wait, the food was just okay. We actually drove out of the way for this place. The waitress was really dry and not very pleasant. She was kind of rude when I asked if the fried pickles were spears or chips, getting sarcastic with me about it even though its a valid question because some places do the spears. The place also lacked AC and we went on a really hot day, after walking around (to kill time while we waited for seating). I dont know. Its alright if you are already there and looking for a bite to eat. I dont like to give bad reviews, especially if the place wasnt absolutely terrible, which it wasnt. We had a great time here tonight catching up with old friends. It seems like every time we come back to Middletown, a new place pops up. At first, we assumed coffee shop. I'm sure they have coffee, but it's clear this place is a brew house pub style restaurant and we weren't sad about it at all. The guy was talking like an auctioneer, but I ended up with a couple great beers on tap, so I didn't care one bit. The chips, salsa, guacamole and crab dip were legit, so the appetizers are a win to go well with your beers. Sure would return. read more

What an amazing find. Seriously. The whole Frederick area is so over looked as far as amazing restaurants go. The only reason people from DC come to dine in Frederick is Volt, but there are so many other good places! This be one, yo! Of course, it's not exactly on the same level as Volt so I'm not comparing it to them... but I got to try a lot of things on the menu since I came here with a large group. Starters... hummus...good... but not as good as the spinach dip. Sooooo good. And cocktails? They got em. Lots of em!! Specialty ones too... like the lemonade martini. I had the crab cakes... which might be one of my favorite foods ever (after pizza, of course, duh) They were huge and with lots of crab!! I could only finish one of them. I was debating on that or the balsamic glazed salmon, but I'll have to go back and try that one next time. Our server was really nice. When we asked her if she put the gratuity on the check she went "oh, I never do that" (huh, really?) and our party was 8 people... but we gave her 20%+ cause she rocked :-) I'd totally come back!!! Located in quaint little Middletown, MD, a beautiful area with rolling hills and lots of Civil War history, this restaurant is a local treasure that my wife and I just discovered at the urging of a friend who's a server there. We're so glad we did! I'd describe their lunch menu as upscale pub food, while the dinner menu elevates it beyond that, with filet, crab cake, chops, salmon, and other offerings. For this lunch visit we both had burgers, me the Maryland Burger and my wife the Loaded Cheeseburger. Both, ordered Medium Rare, were cooked perfectly. Mine had a delicious crab imperial on top, a combination I wasn't sure about but man was it good. Ditto for my wife's. We also had their yummy Buffalo Chicken Dip. Being a craft beer fan, I had a choice of several IPAs from which to choose, settling on the DirtWolf Double IPA from Victory Brewing Co. Fantastic. Besides the tasty food, the staff is fantastic too, including the owner who was nice enough to give me a little history of the establishment. Everyone I interacted with was great, in particular the hostess, bartender, and servers Kat and Erin. Ask for them, they'll treat you great. Finally, the atmosphere is really cool, with brick walls, nice lighting, and an awesome patio area where we dined. Check out the photos. If you're in the area checking out the nearby attractions, such as Antietam National Battlefield (about 15 miles away), the South Mountain area of the Appalachian Trail hiking, Antietam Creek Vineyards, or other sites, stop in, you'll be glad you did. My cup was half-empty Quick Note: My hat is off to the restaurants and their staff that continue to serve, and for many strive to survive, during this pandemic First time visit to the Main Cup last Saturday night and it was disappointing. Here's what was good and then what really missed the mark: The Good -Appetizer, Build your own Bruschetta, was good COVID-19 safeguards appeared to be enforced -My friends Blackened Salmon sliders were tasty. Was expecting something like a salmon cake but these were smaller portions of salmon fillet The Misses -Mahi tacos were bland. Think bland, but even blander, even with the condiments. A few pieces of the fish had a bit of a pungent flavor. A real head scratcher was the tacos were served with the fish on top. and cut into small fillet size-pieces. That was not expected -Service was slow and although we found our servers personality endearing at first, it became quite odd by the end of the meal. For example, when delivering the check our server read the check total aloud to us. Now my friend and I are far from an advanced age and I have aced all my recent eye exams. -Remember the Brushetta appetizer? Yes it was good but I could tell the oil in which the pita chips had been fried may have been past its prime Overall disappointing for the cost and food quality. I stopped here for lunch on a quick visit to the area. I was told by a local that it was the place to be and was not disappointed. The restaurant itself is very cool inside and has a nice patio...there is a small parking lot in the back that makes it easy to park even though it is on the Main Street. I took a seat at the bar...the bartender was not overly attentive however she was really nice. I ordered the Maryland Grilled Cheese and was not disappointed...the portion was a lot larger than I expected and tasted great. The sandwich was served with fries and the total came to about $13 with tax (I ordered a water). Overall, I really enjoyed this place and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area! read more

True hidden gem in the heart of historic downtown Middletown, MD. I met coworkers here tonight for dinner and drinks. We ordered quite a few appetizers - brussel sprout salad (So good!), artichoke dip, and crab dip. I really enjoyed the soft garlic flavored pita bread served with the dip. I ate a few too many pieces... Ha... But it is a definite must-try! My coworkers ordered a variety of different plates, ranging from salmon to burger sliders to tacos. I got the crab cakes. Great local spot. Food has been hit or miss lately, but the staff is phenomenal. Brunch is great, but the home fries leave a lot to be desired. Jazzy fries and crab dip are favorites on my family.
