First time here! Came on a Saturday during valentines weekend. Was mildly busy with an assortment of people. Waiter was friendly and efficient. Started off with the crab dip and it was delicious, split between 2 people but finished it off in no time, hence no picture! Filet cooked M w potatoes and Caesar. Everything was delicious. Ceaser dressing was rich and tangy. Also had a white ale with an orange slice.. similar to a blue moon but not as heavy. Will definitely be back to try the burgers and sweet potato fries. read more

If you're looking for a local's advice, I can undoubtedly say that The Main Cup is a quality restaurant with superior service and food. I have lived in Middletown my entire life and this will always be one of my favorite places to eat. The owner, Bob, is a wonderful person and is often found socializing with customers and making sure the dining experience is outstanding. The waitstaff is just as friendly and approachable; I have never had an unpleasant experience with any of the waiters or waitresses. I have tried several different dishes on the menu. First, I strongly recommend trying their crab dip as an appetizer. It is served with warm pita bread and was actually ranked on Buzzfeed as one of the best restaurants to order crab! Second, I would also recommend their Sunday brunch. My most recent visit was for brunch and I was impressed with the western omelette (ham, spinach, tomatoes, and Swiss cheese) served with potatoes or fruit. Their mimosas were wonderful and cost $20 per carafe. They also have screwdrivers, bloody Mary's, and sangria available. Their location is prime for the Middletown community, but they didn't rest on their laurels... they've worked hard on a great atmosphere, menu, and staff. I've had a majority of the items on their menu, and never been disappointed. I didn't give them the 5th star because, if you don't pick your times right, your experience is severely impacted by the volume of people they try to fit in their restaurant. They say rooms can hold more than they really can, and their servers get overwhelmed and the place becomes overwhelmingly loud. Also, their "dinner" menu leaves something to be desired. Walking up to the restaurant I loved the old downtown feel and that they have kept the old signs. However, I was not able to find the front door as easily which was on the side of the building. None the less the restaurant is beautiful I love the decor. My boyfriend and I both ordered drinks, crab dip and the NY Strip Steak. The crab dip was creamy and delicious, the house salads were fresh with homemade ranch dressing. My steak was cooked medium rare with redskins potatoes and the seasoning was great! My boyfriend ordered his steak rare and got medium. They got it right the with the second steak which they brought out fast and it was delicious! We loved the place and will definitely go back. I had the calamari as an appetizer and the balsamic grilled salmon. Both were very good, but the plate of calamari was huge (make sure you have a big enough party to share it with!). The salmon was very large, green beans were good, and the mashed potatoes weren't too buttery but slightly chunky. Portion sizes of all meals in my party were pretty good and not too excessive. I love this place! My aunt and uncle live in town and whenever I come to visit I look forward to coming here. For them it's a weekly visit! I love the Cajun penne pasta there. Used to be on the menu but they took it off however they always still make it for me and it's amazing. I also love their seared ahi Tuna (which I added on my pasta). The fried green beans app is delicious. Great beer wine and cocktail list. Key lime pie martini is my fav. Also a great petite Syrah on the menu. For dessert definitely the tres leeches cake or the flourless chocolate torte. Very nice staff, great atmosphere. This is a nice local place to have a meal and you will not be disappointed. They have a patio which is very nice and dog-friendly. The only issue we had, if you eat outside to make sure someone knows you are there, it took a while to get a server. They serve a salmon strawberry salad which is a signature item for them, The crab salad is very good too, the crab portions are very generous, As you can see in the photo the greens and vegetables are very fresh. We ordered chips and guacamole which is made in house and very fresh and lightly spicy. For some reason, they make a killer ice tea. read more

Had a late lunch in the patio with our pup- staff were very accommodating and filled her water bowl. We sat in a quiet corner and were pleased with the attentive service. Hash browns are chopped shoestring fries, deep-fried and served with salt (chopped up french fries). The portion is a lot bigger at mountain view diner down the road. this is a stylish cafe in a funky brick walled space with an extensive menu. over 100 year old building that began life as a creamery. kind of a maze with different spaces off old brick pathways. lunch menu includes starters, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and tacos. wife chose the shrimp salad sandwich and i went with the surf & turf sliders. surprisingly, the shrimp salad sandwich was not as expected since the shrimp were not chopped up but still whole, thumb size sweet shrimp. these were dressed in a sweet (honey) coleslaw-eque dressing seasoned lightly with Old Bay. unfortunately the croissant it was served on-with tomato and lettuce-was quite dry. and also unfortunate was the coleslaw chosen as a side which was unpleasantly wet. the surf and turf sliders consisted of two mini cheeseburgers and two mini crab cake sandwiches. all four sandwiches were served without any saucing or veg but with ketchup and bland tartar sauce served on the side. chose the side of the day to go with which was a potato salad-i believe they called it "loaded"-sort of baked potato style. while not really very loaded it was quite tasty. feel like we may have just chosen a couple of dishes for our meal that were not there strongest but with the long menu, good service, and cool space i'd definitely give them another try. read more
