Scheduled an appointment for 3:45, got a text that my appointment was at 3:45, showed up at 3:40, waited for 40 minutes, checked my phone and saw my appointment time was actually at 5:15, left, came back at 5:10, waited another 15 minutes, was then told that my appointment was at 3:45 and that it could not be completed! She said that as soon as I was leaving she was gonna come get me. Though, she seemed to be mid haircut when I left. I was offered to reschedule so that was good on them but after everything that happened I was left with a bad impression of the salon. Had a great experience with Mary! Went in for a cut & partial highlights (have short hair). I let her know I was more concerned about the cut & style of my hair, not so much the color used to highlight. She was super understanding & ended up picking a color that I am super happy with. It's been a while since I was this pleased with a cut/color. Mary did a fantastic job!! She made me feel very comfortable and had a great attitude. I did end up getting the color I was looking for after my second visit. Lilia was sweet & personable, but I did have a few concerns. 1. I have natural 2b-2c curly hair. I wanted to make sure what I was getting done wouldn't change that. I asked if bleach would kill my curls or damage my hair heavily & she assured me that she wouldn't have to lighten it enough to damage my hair noticeably. I said that was fine then she continued to lighten my hair much more than she needed to for the blue. 2. Not until after she was rinsing the bleach out of my hair did she tell me it would feel porous & weak. My hair was way more fried than she said it would be, sadly. DESPITE THE RECOMMENDED AFTERCARE** 3. She forgot my haircut first time around & went to take it off my total when I left. It was $10. Next time I went to schedule just a cut it was $40.... 4. She also charges per bowl & doesn't scrape the bowls out the same way she does on a free visit when she isn't charging you per bowl. Noticed that & wasn't very impressed. OVERALL my experience was okay, just wish she hadn't been deceiving. Lied, or was not correctly knowledgeable of natural hair. I would've gotten something just as pricey done had she told me the true damage of the bleach. I just wanted to preserve my hair :( All the color I actually wanted to only last for 2 weeks. When I never told her temporary. Paid $200+ for 2 weeks of the color I wanted, & a whole week of walking around w BRIGHT blue hair when I asked for deep deep blue. read more

However, she missed entire patches (there isn't a lot of real estate... how did she miss it?), she left a lot of wax on me and there are so many stray hairs... it made the entire experience useless because... I will not be going back. I've seen the same stylist about 3 times for a simple hair cut each time but the last time she took it upon her self to move my appointment with someone else I had never met. Nobody called me or told me about the move or I would have just rescheduled. I found out when i got there and the other stylist was caught off guard just like me. I will not get my haircut by anyone besides Zach (independent stylist! He's great!!! I also recommend Jonah - he does my boyfriends hair.) Took my daughter to get her haircut - she wanted the Taylor swift sideswept bangs and a long bob. The stylist told her father and I to wait out in the lobby. MISTAKE. My daughter came out with a center part and short bangs on one side. Not even remotely what either of us asked for. The stylist said because she had a cowlick that's how she decided to do her hair - without consulting me first. She wanted sideswept bangs. I have a cowlick in the same spot and manage sideswept bangs. She "fixed" it. But now it looks like my daughter is growing out short bangs and she does not have the sideswept look at all. This is the second time I have had a bad hair cut experience at this location. read more

I'm kind of a hair snob. I was searching all over NEW for a place to get my layers cleaned up. After lots of research, I booked an appointment online (SO EASY). My stylist was Zachary. After an initial consultation, we started with a HEAVENLY deep conditioning treatment. Fantastic head and neck massage. But what really set it apart from other treatments I have had was how he explained how/why he was using different products. After that, we sat down for my cut. He told me right off the bat that he was a perfectionist and that he was going to check his work a few times before I left his chair. PERFECT! Beautiful blow out. Could not be happier. Got an updo for a wedding and showed pictures for inspiration and the stylist completely got it wrong. continued trying, did almost the same thing until I directed her to exactly what I wanted. She seemed completely inexperienced. I did not have enough time to stick around and really have her give me the style I wanted so I had to go and ended up fixing it myself. Lets start out with this: Main Salon is a great place for the price! I was very shocked at everything that was included with the $30 price tag for a hair cut. Glass of wine, shampoo/conditioner/scalp massage, and then a neck message with a great cut and style. I really enjoyed my time and booked a second appointment right before I left. It's been a day and my hair is still very soft and silky. The actual salon is very sleek and modern as well, loved the exposed brick and plants. My stylist was friendly and gave me great layers in my hair. My only qualms with this spot is the website... it was hard to figure out the exact services offered and there was no information on parking, so I ended up circling around a bit before I found out where to park, but once I found the spot to book an appt it was super easy and convenient, it even sent me a text reminder! So clean up that site and this would be 5/5! read more

I went to the Main Salon yesterday for my first time. I was a little nervous because it was a new place and I'm about 14 weeks pregnant. After weeks of morning sickness I needed a pampering session. Mani/ped service for my bridal group. Definitely not happy. Being my wedding, I want nothing but the best. I received, nothing but the worst!!!!!! My nails, the bride, look like I either tried to do them myself or allowed a small child at them!! Uneven french manicure, white tips aren't even complete to the sides, and bubbling in corners from too much polish being applied, some already chipping away. Then there is my pedicure, lets just say I'm just as displeased with that. I paid $52.99 and it wasn't worth $20. Now I'm a very, very, very unhappy bride to be, and will have get ANOTHER mani/pedi somewhere else to correct what they have done so that I can be happy for my destination wedding that we leave for in 1 1/2 days!!!!!!! When I pay for services, I do have the expectation that my satisfaction is of the utmost importance to a business. This being MY WEDDING DAY, the expectations were even higher, and I must say both myself and my bridal attendants were not pleased by any means! I have been here 3 times now and it has been the only place where I have gotten my hair colored in the past year and a half (which can be a little tricky as I live in Chicago). The girls are very knowledgeable and very good at blending. You also cannot beat the price. I came here initially on a Groupon, and have been coming back because a haircut and partial balayage is still under $100 on a regular day. I pay more than double that in Chicago for similar services. I got a shellac manicure at the Main Salon a few weeks ago. The Pros: nice atmosphere, manicurists friendly and talkative. Cons: Very few choices of shellac nail color . Worst of all, my nails began chipping only 3 days after my manicure. As you probably know, shellac should last at least 2 weeks. By day 5, all of my nails had significantly chipped. Also, no oils/lotion or massage on my hands once the polish was on-my favorite part of a manicure was skipped altogether! I'll definitely not be back for a shellac manicure again. read more

He showed me so many options on how we could make my hair look beyond amazing, but low maintenance at the same time. He answered any questions I had thoroughly and honestly. I was in serious need of getting my hair done, so I did my Yelp research and found this awesome salon! Making my appointment was semi-easy. I say "semi" because I started to do it through the Yelp app (which I LOVED that I could do), but when I went back to make sure I was selecting the right service it and tried to continue it didn't have the time slot available nor any for the next few days (which was odd because two minutes prior there were multiple openings). I eventually just left the app, went back an hour later and was able to get the time slot I wanted. Zach was my stylist and I am glad he was! I was the annoying customer who had no idea what they wanted, but thankfully Zach was able to give me guidance and help me decide (I went with the Balayage). The ambiance was nice and I enjoyed that the salon part is separate from the waiting area (and not just by a giant counter). After the process was done Zach walked me out and showed me some of the products he had been using and what he thought would be best for me and my newly dyed locks. It was helpful for me because I am lost in the hair care aisle, it all does different stuff! I have already booked my next appointment to get my hair cut and I can't wait! read more

I had the worst experience with them. I have been with layer cut for the last 7 years. No salon had done the worst like these people did. The gal cut off my hair more than I wanted and I could not see good layers as well. She never listened when I asked her not to use hot air blower. I told her 4 times. Next comes is eyebrow waxing. My right eyebrow would have been cut in the middle if she had taken off few more little hairs. When she did this, I lost my temper and complained to her boss. He tried to make my left eyebrow very thin so that both will match to some extent evenly. The highlight is the gal never bothered to apologize for any of the blunders she did. The main salon is a lovely place, in a fun up and coming area of town. Very nice. But what this review is really about is a stylist there: zack. He is incredible! He did manis for my mom and I, so much attention to detail, we both loved them. But even better, his hair styling!!!! He did a cut, highlight, deep conditioning and style on me and I truly felt like a new woman. He listened very well, and hit the look I was going for SPOT ON! He is also such a nice guy, made me feel pampered, and a pleasure to talk to! I cannot speak highly enough of him. I don't typically have one set stylist, but I will be going back to Zachary.
