First off I have to agree with Christoper. I walked in about a week ago, and was treated very rudely. I turned around and walked out. First impressions are big, and well that was the first impression I got from this individuals tone of voice. One might think they are "not" being rude in their mind, but you must realize it is the customer who is spending their money at your business. You are being paid through their money. I had the weirdest experience with this business. I called initially wanting color; Christina had been highly recommended. I called on a Saturday (noted; a busy day for salons) for Christina and was told she'd call me right back. Finally, the following Wednesday I received a call from Christina and by that time, I'd done my hair myself and was OK with it. But my hair does need reshaping. So I told her that my experience with stylists has been that if one was really good with color, and it was a specialty (which I was told was the case with Christina), they were not so good at styling. So I asked her if she was good at styling and cutting as well. I ended up not making an appointment because the time frame didn't work for me, but after having thought about it, I texted her telling her I'd changed my mind and would like an appointment. She texted me back saying that we would "not be a good fit" and that she was "very booked" but please have a nice day. What? Not a "good fit"? I have hair, don't I? I was stunned, then thought about what possibly could have precipitated such a response, and the only thing I could come up with is that she was offended that I'd asked her if she was good at what she did. Now, if i am to have a medical procedure done, I ask provider (doctor, nurse, NP, whatever) if they are good at what they do. No one has ever been offended. I guess it's safe to assume she is not good at what she does and I'm better off not having gone to this salon. But what a bizarre experience. read more

I just had my first appointment at this salon since my regular stylist recently moved from her previous site (Joy from Shear Joy who I HIGHLY recommend). I find this salon to be such an inviting place to be. The staff truly get along and they were nice and talked back and forth with me even though I wasn't their client. Well I just wanted to bring some love to all these fantastic ARTISTS! I have been coming to the Mane Gallery since I was about 13. In those days i couldn't get my hair colored but I used to get my hair cut when I would visit my grandmother. Now almost 15 years later I am still a very loyal customer! My original stylist, Mary, was phenomenal and it really saddened us when she went on to heaven, but while she was starting to take her leave she passed me on to another wonderful ARTIST, Christina Beil. Ever since then it has been a match made in, well, heaven! I think one of the best parts about this salon is that they all work as a team. Sometimes a client comes in and wants something that is completely wrong for them, either they want to be bleach blond and they have only 30 thin hairs on their head. The people at this salon with not allow you to damage your hair beyond repair, or something that is unflattering for your face structure. They really put in the extra time to care for your look, and are willing to collaborate together to find the best look for you. I will never go to another salon for a s long as i live. Over time I suggested this salon to family and friends, and i cannot take the credit, the Salon itself has turned them into life long patrons. I just read some negative comments below and i apologize your visit was not as good as expected or that other loyal customers may have reacted harshly, but its simply because this salon truly is AMAZING. I look forward to getting my hair done at the Mane Gallery Salon. The atmosphere is very positive and all the hairstylists are friendly. I always have a good time not only with my stylist Joy, but with the other stylists as well. All the stylists have nice hair and colors that are fun and modern. Everyone there really seems to enjoy being there and is happy. The salon is nice and clean and there is a station in which they have complimentary tea and coffee for the customers. I have been coming to the Mane Gallery for about a year and a half and it has been just great. Christina has done three keratin smoothing treatments, two highlights and several great haircuts. I have very curly hair which is really tough to manage and Christina has been wonderful. I drive in from Lamorinda to come here - because the service has been so good. i have had bangs most of my life. my hair grows really fast. i got tired of having to go to the salon every two weeks to get them trimmed, so i started cutting them myself. i then met jessica bates who came through my line at my store. she complimented my bangs, gave me her business card and told me she cuts hair herself. recently i just did a bold straight edge bang. they grew out a little, so i attempted to trim them while i was exhausted, which was a disaster. i cut them unbelievably short. i was so embarrassed. i youtubed a way to cover them up and give myself china bangs using the ends of my hair. i actually liked the look. i showed jessica bates a picture of me with my fake china bangs and asked her to do them for real. surprisingly she pulled it off!!! they look exactly like the picture, and on top of that i requested her to do choppy bold layers in my hair, which she did perfect. she was hesitant on the bold layers because she said they aren't her thing, but she did them for me and i love it!!!!!! i took a chance on jessica bates and i'm so glad i did!!! she worked a miracle on me. i couldn't be happier with my hair. i give her 10 stars :) read more
