We used to live in the area and came to the restaurant a lot when it was all veg in a different location. We came when passing through town today. The selection and quality of dishes was lacking on the Sunday buffet. Tandoori Chicken was the only item we liked. Also they bring you naan to table when you have the buffet and it took a really long time so my kids were already full by the time it came. And I couldn't use it to eat my food. Went here for lunch during the week and it wasn't crowded at all. They offer a lunch buffet on Fridays and weekends. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the goat curry lunch box, which came with tandoori chicken, channa masala, vegetarian cashew korma, rice, and naan bread. For the price, you get a lot, and I was full. I also ordered the gulab jamuns. I wasn't a huge fan of this dessert, as it had a strong cardamom flavor that I didn't like. After my second visit to The Mango Grove, I can confidently recommend this restaurant for its clean environment, friendly service, and variety of options. During my first visit, we tried their lunch buffet, which is only available on weekends. On weekdays, you can choose from six different meat combos or vegetarian options. There was plenty of food, and the meal included naan. Naturally, I had to finish off this delicious lunch with their authentic chai, made without tea bags! The combination of flavors, the selected vegetable sides, the tender chicken tandoori, and the perfectly cooked and spicy curry goat were all outstanding. Can't say I recommend this spot based on the food or the service. We dropped in for an early Friday dinner. The place was relatively empty so we were immediately sat at the booth. We ordered samosas and cocktails and asked some questions about the menu to a waiter who very clearly didn't want to be there. The best bite over the dinner were the samosas. The Bosa and Butter Chicken were both not great. Through the night the staff kept our drinks full but definitely had no customer service mindset, it felt rude and rushed every time they came to our table. The best part is that once you're inside it doesn't feel like you're in a strip mall. It could be really nice if the food and service were elevated to the ambiance. read more

A friend & I met in Columbia for our first visit today, for lunch on a Thursday. We thought at first there would be a buffet, but that is just on weekends. It was not very busy around 1:00 pm. The restaurant is spacious and nicely decorated. My friend ordered a mango lassie. We each ordered a different one of their "lunch boxes." I had the chicken, and we ordered samosas to share. Our lunches came out on a metal tray, and there was so much food that it was like a mini buffet. The servers were pleasant and attentive. I was going to do a to go order. I've been to this restaurant before and I was about 15 minutes away, so I wanted to make sure that an item that I've had before, and was craving, was available. I couldn't find it on the menu. So I called and someone answered the phone and I asked to speak with the owner or the manager because I've noticed a few rude employees and there's often a communication problem. Since I'm a Celiac, I have to make sure someone really understands me and I've never had any issues speaking with the owner/manager, but have had communication issues with employees there. So he said the manager wasn't there and asked what I wanted to know about and I asked if there was besan. The last time I went, the owner told me it was called besan on and it's a delicious chickpea bread. I looked it up online firstto make sure I had the right word. He was speaking very quickly, and told me that they didn't carry it, and I said the last time I went that the owner had told me what it was called and that they carried it so then he asked me to say it again, and I said besan and it's made with chickpea flour and it's a bread. I had already told him it was made with chickpea flour when I first described it, and he said they didn't carry it but as soon as I said "owner", then all of a sudden he said "oh chickpea flour ", "I didn't understand you because you weren't saying it, right". So he named it something else, and I said that's fine that you use that word but the owner told me a different word. So then he continued to argue and I finally just told him that he was rude and that he had spoiled my interest in coming there and asked for his name and he hung up on me. read more

My family usually comes here to order carry out for dosas. We haven't been here in years and got our usual dosa order. Keep in mind, I LOVE dosas and am particular with mine. I got the Mysore Masala Dosa and asked for extra onion and a higher spice level. Granted, I ate my food when it wasn't hot- I had to heat my dosa up. But, it wasn't like I remembered it to be. The Tomato chutney was my favorite, but I felt more curry leaves or South Indian style tempered spices could've been used more in each chutney. I felt the same way for the potatoes. The sambar was fine. The dosa was a bit oily as well- I've had incredible dosas that were very light on oil. I'll give the dosa benefit of the doubt saying I didn't have it piping hot and fresh, but I am disappointed and am not sure if I'd try this one again. Overall, the meal was quite salty and left my stomach a certain way (I make masala dosas and chutneys at home and this doesn't happen to me). My favorite cuisine is Indian food, but unfortunately my experience at Mango Grove Indian Restaurant was very disappointing. Everything I tried was overly salty, and the buffet was quite expensive for the quality offered. Nothing I ate was enjoyable--every dish tasted too salty. The goat meat had mostly bones with very little actual meat. I'm not even confident it was entirely goat; it seemed like it may have been mixed with beef. I can feel that they care about the taste of their food, and they respect/take care of their vegan customers along with providing a venue for education (vegan talks/events) which shows me they are not just for profit. They offer some innovative vegan dishes that gives us options which I love. This earns my respect and I'm likely to return! They also have a few fusion items such as jackfruit korma. Tried something I normally don't see in most Indian restaurants-manglorian eggplant curry. The sauce was rich, but not too heavy (with hints of coconut and sesame). The eggplant was sliced into long strips (instead of mashed) and cooked with mushrooms and peas. Not sure why I lagged on writing this but here we are. I was here on 1/2/24 with DD and here it is, the fifth! Parking is ample and free, as this is in a small strip mall with only a few service businesses. It looks far larger when you walk in, because the window front seems small. Beautiful decor and artwork. Excellent service. Delicious food! We were seated immediately and given water. Drink orders taken, and DD asked for the Chaas. The server asked if she had ever had it and she said no. So when my mango lassi (free with Yelp! checkin) came, they brought her a sample glass of her order. She loved it and I thought it was great, too. They brought a full glass as soon as she approved it. I chose the chicken lunch box special, while she opted for the dosa lunch box. We didn't really look at photos ahead of time, so you can imagine our surprise at the presentation of her plate ;) I was also surprised, but not in the least upset, that mine was in a dish best described as a metal, divided rectangle like you might get in the army, lol. But oh! the food. Oh, oh oh! I cannot. Every luscious bite of my tikka masala chicken and tandoori chicken was bursting with moist flavor. I've had tandoori at many restaurants in this area and they are always dry - this was 100% the opposite. DD's various sauces were so full of amazing, blended flavors. I brought over half of mine home and made two small meals of it later. All of it was delicious, reheated. Mango lassi: wayyy too sweet for me, I only drank half. Her Chaas? very refreshing and also a bit sweet for me, since I don't eat or drink much in the way of sweet stuff. Service was impeccable and also subtly amusing. I asked server what the green sauce was and they said, "It's ... something..." and only after a few seconds, cracked a smile to show it was a joke. Overall- The food was fine and our server was kind. They have traditional gendered multi-stall restrooms. It was pretty empty on a weekday evening. We loved the view from our booth. The booth seat I sat in kept moving and the leather on the seat was torn up. The ambiance was an interesting mix of up scale and kind of broken/dingy. Our server was super kind and was really supportive of getting us things for our 2 year old before we even asked for them- his own plate, plastic silverware, and a kids water cup. Our food was good, but nothing we tried tasted special or different from other places that would have us return here over other Indian places in the area. Normally my son can have mild dishes, but even the butter chicken had a kick at the end that was too much for him. I've never had Indian food where the spice was similar to a Szechuan style spice where your mouth gets a little numb. I didn't enjoy that difference here. First off, I want to say that I came with low expectations as I haven't heard of this restaurant and none of my friends have been here. However, this place is really close to my work and decided to give it a try. I ordered take out from their website and grabbed it 20 mins later. It was promptly ready to go which I appreciated. The staff I interacted with was nice and friendly. I got the vegetarian lunch box (Samosa as appetizer, palak paneer, channa masala, vegetable cashew korma, rice and Naan bread) for $15.95. Total was $18.66 with taxes and convenience fee which is typical for Indian food in this area. I do want to praise that the food was delicious and very filling! I absolutely loved the palak paneer and their naan was phenomenal! The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the to-go box it was in. Quite a bit of it spilled out and made a bit of a mess inside the paper bag. All the other containers and foil ended up having sauce on it. Unfortunately I eat my lunch in my car which made this inconvenient and messy. Food-wise I have no issues with and I cannot wait to come back and try other dishes!! read more

First time trying out their Sunday brunch menu and had heard a lot of positive things. I've been to about 3-4 different Indian buffets in and around Baltimore city, and so was excited to see what they had to offer. The restaurant is spacious and well decorated. Staff are polite and kind. We got a great table near the window which overlooks a small lake which was lovely. The place filled up by 12:30 and was pretty packed. I started off by trying the masala chai. This is a personal preference, but I do enjoy a nice strong masala chai, and theirs was lighter than what I'm used to. Then tried the masala dosa which is brought to your table. I am south indian by ethinicity so will say that I have high expectations for dosas :) the batter was well done, but the potato filling was extremely bland and was barely seasoned in my opinion. The sambar was okay but I did like that there were a lot of vegetable pieces in the sambar. They have a red tomato based chutney that goes well with it. The chana bhatura was very mediocre. The chana was interestingly flavoured, again not what I was used to. The bhatura itself was pretty good. I then tried the daal dish that was on offer, one that I was not familiar with so hard to comment on its authenticity. The naan was cold, stale and bland (no butter, garlic, coriander etc). The chilli chicken had more fried batter than actual chicken and was not spicy at all. The only dishes that were well done were the goan fish curry and butter chicken. For rice options you had plain basmati and a vegetable fried rice which was just ok. Unfortunately near the end of my meal I also found a short piece of hair in my curry. Overall, not what I came in expecting. Although there are a lot of dishes on offer, very few of them actually taste authentic in my opinion. read more

Easily enough for 2, but the lamb was tough, the rice was hard, clumpy, and barely warm; the salad was one kind of lettuce with some carrot strips and 1/2 of one slice of tomato, without dressing or lemon. I got take out and when picking up the food the inside of the restaurant looked really nice. Looks like they are set up to have a buffet too which I would like to try some day soon. Had lovely lunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon. Because it was Friday, we were able to try the buffet. The buffet is only available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I liked that they have goat curry. The chicken tika masala was very good. The meat was soft and not dry. The tandori chicken was also good. I also enjoyed the vegetable fritter. I've gotten lunch boxes from here twice, mostly to be able to try multiple dishes at once. I think the chicken lunch box is pretty good and decently priced for how many things come in it. All the dishes the come with it are pretty flavorful, maybe on the stronger or saltier side but still good. Be warned if you're picky about this, the flavors may spill into each other - in my recent lunch box, the chicken tikka masala sauce spilled into the saag paneer quite a bit (not sure if this was from driving it home or if it happened beforehand). The naan was tasty but as take out in the foil wrapper, the crispiness wasn't really there. I tried the vegan lunch box last time and remember not being as excited about it. Either way, it's plenty of food! Separately, the mango lassi is good but does not come with very much for its price tag of $5. I'd come back to try other items on the menu. read more

Not much to change of substance in my review actually. Vegetarian Indian restaurant (albeit one that also hosts a non-vegetarian Indo-Chinese menu in the same space). Good variety. Beautiful preparation. Delicious food. What's notable is that the restaurant exploded not too long ago. Literally, the entire building complex was destroyed in a gas explosion (fortunately it was a night and no one was hurt; it's a scary thought). Weirdly, this may have happened at the best possible time for Mango Grove, as they were out of commission during most of COVID, when business probably wasn't going to be good anyway. The complex has been rebuilt and is largely vacant, but Mango Grove is back looking much the same, with a few improvements. They must have good insurance. For anyone who hasn't tried this sort of cuisine before, they have some amazing South Indian specialties, mostly lentil based. I went with a more typical curry on this occasion and split some other things. My dishes were visibly full of herbs and spices, and delivered all the flavor I would have expected from the old Mango Grove. I'm glad they're back. read more

If you're having a doubt, just go!! This was my 2nd time having Indian food. THIS FOOD IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I'm allergic to salmon, but it smelled so good and looked so tender! The Bihari Kabab was by far my favorite! Chicken tandoori was delicious too! They were served on a sizzling plate over some veggies. Somewhere in there is the butter chicken which I was skeptical about it but it was sho nuff good too! The naan was prepared over a fire of some sort. The meat was soooooooo tender & you can taste that it was cooked on the grill. This was definitely a 10/10. Our server was funny too! We went on Father's Day so the menu was limited but allllll of the flavors were there! We had so much food left over , i can't wait to eat it! My friends and I decided to go here for a girls night out. We had never been before and didn't know what to expect. On the outside, it looks much smaller than it actually is. It has a surprisingly large and beautiful interior. The ambience of the place was very calm and elegant. There was only two other customers at the time we went so it was very quiet. I think because of that, the service was incredible. The server we had made sure we were fully taken care of and even cracked some jokes to keep the mood light. It was a lot of fun. The food was prepared efficiently and tasted phenomenal. One of my friends is a picky eater and even she loved the food. I was even able to get a vegan meal that was very filling and delightful. The parking is free and ample. You will not have to worry about finding a spot. I will say though, if you go at a busier time and day, you might have to park a bit farther out but it's really not the long of a walk, especially on a good sunny day. So I took my granddaughter there for her 14th birthday and she was very disappointed. We had never been to this restaurant before and wasn't sure how the culture of restaurant worked. We arrived and we seated immediately since there we few patrons there and this is when things went south. We waited about 25 minutes for our rude, lazy, non communitive waiter arrived and bought menus and left. 20 more minutes we got water and he took our order, this is where the culture came in. We did not know how to order and when we asked he was rude and did not explain what or how to order. Now this may sound silly but when we have gone to other restaurants the waiter would ask if we had been there before and assist with how to order and what to do with certain foods. This one nothing. Others were arriving, they were seated, given menus, a craft of water (we never got that), and orders taken. We were still waiting on our order. Folks that came in after us left before we were served. We finally got our food (another 25 minutes) and he bought out all this rice and the food of which if he had told us how to order we would have ordered less and shared. We finally figured that out and decided to get boxes for left overs but our waiter never returned and my sister had to go to the front to request boxes. Waiter finally shows with those boxes, another 15-20 minutes and I ask for the check another 10 minutes and the tip request was crazy. Dude got 10% and I tip heavy for good service. The reason for the 3 stars is that some of the food was really good but the birthday girls was one that was awful (chicken butter) and she ended up eating my lamb. Never again read more

I wanted to try a new place, so I ordered from here. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, matter paneer masala, and the garlic naan through Grubhub for pickup. The matter paneer masala was tasty and fresh and delicious and had the right amount of heat to it. The chicken tikka masala---advertised as "boneless chunks of chicken breast cooked in the tandoor"---but was not made with chicken breast; it was another part of the chicken body (dark meat). It didn't taste good and was disappointing. The garlic naan was folded lengthwise and rolled up and was dry and cold instead of fluffy and buttery. I've been craving a decent Indian buffet for a while now, but a lot of restaurants in the area still haven't reopened their buffets after covid. As of July, Mango Grove has their buffet open on weekends for lunch. It is a bit pricey at $22 per person but I did not mind it given the quantity and variety of dishes. There were several chicken dishes, paneer and vegetable for vegetarians, and one fish dish, as well as a couple of dessert choices. Overall I would say no one thing blew me away, but everything was good. I also appreciated that the chai was included and serve yourself. read more
