We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue Skies Inn. Sally and Mike are friendly gracious hosts. The building we stayed in was well appointed and beautifully decorated. There was an eclectic set of books to peruse. Lots of movies to choose from. The breakfast each morning was delicious and delivered on time with hot coffee and delightful fresh muffins. More food than my wife and I could eat. There are lots of private areas to sit and enjoy the weather. This is a secluded area within walking distance of town. I have a disability and Mike was very helpful in getting us settled in. The Blue Skies inn is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Colorado. This is one of the sweetest bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed in! My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day. Each room is so beautiful, with all sorts of beautiful hand-painted and tiled details. We stayed in the Sunset Room, and it was gorgeous. Not only is it beautiful, but each morning they also leave a super tasty homemade breakfast at your door. We loved waking up to fresh muffins, fruit salad, quiche, juice, milk, and hot coffee. Even though it's right by the main road, once you drive up it's like another world. Super peaceful, quiet, beautiful nature, and sweet deer walking around. I loved it! This is a hidden treasure in Manitou Springs!! Mike & Sally are wonderful proprietors! We just stayed 3 nights in the Rock Art Suite II and it was so nice for the 2 of us to have more than ample space to relax & move around in. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in - I'm SERIOUS!! The bathroom was so spacious and the shower had two shower heads that felt so good after long hikes. And the breakfast....oh my!! A good friend and I stayed at the luxurious Blue Skies Inn. It was the most beautiful spot ever! The rooms are all hand painted by Sally and so beautifully decorated. Mike, welcomed us with a tour and even recommended restaurants nearby. The grounds and gardens are spectacular. We woke to the sounds of birds lightly chirping and the nearby Creek. At 8 AM there is a cheerful little knock that signals a delicious freshly prepared full breakfast which is in a picnic basket outside our door. The food was amazing as was the relaxing sounds outside in the gardens. This gorgeous place would be ideal for a honeymoon, weekend getaway, or retreat, or even a couple of old friends just enjoying life. read more

The rooms were a nice size but the place is very tired looking. The grounds were really unkept. In the defense of the Inn, we stayed during the middle of CoVID so maybe they haven't been able to have their gardeners in. We made a quick trip to the area for a funeral and this spot was a great find. I have stayed in many B&B's and this one gets a thumbs up! The room we stayed in was clean and very large with a comfortable couch as well as a chair. The bed was comfy and the bathroom and shower area were spacious too! Breakfast was hot and yummy. We ate in a little nook that was separate from the living space - so much more room that a hotel tends to have! The gardens were lovely; I sat near a water feature and read for quite awhile one afternoon. The next morning when I took my camera out there were some deer visitors! The owner gave us great tips on a hike. It was beautiful and only a short drive from the inn. The one thing that was a bummer was that the people above us had heavy feet, especially after 10:30 pm! We came to celebrate our 29th anniversary. We wanted a quiet restful place to use as a home base to see the sights around Manitou Springs. This is our first B&B and the overall experience was wonderful. You are served a hearty breakfast promptly when scheduled. It arrives in a basket where you can dine in your room or take it out to a multitude is secret places in the beautiful gardens. The room was really a suite. A large main room with a sitting room and a huge bathroom. Each suite is lovingly decorated for its own theme. Mike told us of the woman who hand painted the space theme in our room. There is a hot tub a short walk from every suite. Due to storms we could not enjoy it but it was in good order when Mime showed us how to use it. The property is less than a mile from downtown and could be walked but we drove. Easy to find and get into. We plan on returning for our 30th! read more

The room was pretty enough and close to downtown Manitou Springs. I was kind of put off my the extra cost to check in an hour early when I was already paying so much for the room. Another thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the fact that they said I couldn't turn on the fireplace even though it was 32 degrees in the morning because the Innkeeper didn't want it turned on until the END of October. I paid over 250/night and I think I should have been able to use the fireplace if I wanted since it's part of the reason I booked. read more

What a great anniversary getaway it was for my wife and I this week, and it was made more special by staying at the Blue Skies Inn. Sally and Mike have thought of everything with their unique bed and breakfast, and you can see that their heart goes into everything. My family had gone to Blue Skies B&B every year for three years for Parents Weekend while our son was in the Air Force Academy. It is a lovely, quaint B&B. For the last, graduation year we had the same plan. We booked a reservation for five (5) rooms for our extended family in June, 2004 for the May, 2005 graduation date, putting down the requisite 50% deposit ($2,000) to hold the rooms. In August, 2004, six weeks after booking, we learned that our relatives had secured other accommodations, so called to cancel. Keep in mind this was NINE MONTHS prior to the event. (If you know anything about AFA graduations, hotels and B&Bs book up well in advance of the graduation dates, it is nearly impossible to find a place to stay.) Blue Skies' policy for cancellation for USAFA Parents Weekend is 50% penalty. So, after holding the reservation for only 6 weeks for a date 11 months into the future, Blue Skies enforced this policy and retained $1,000 of our deposit. Of course, the Inn was 100% rented for Parents Weekend, but that did not matter to the owners of Blue Skies. I'll never forget how these owners turned their backs on a "regular" customer of 3 years and took the opportunity to make some extra cash. Completely disappointing and, to this day, despite the wonderful AFA experience we participated in while our son was attending, Blue Skies Inn brings back nothing but bad memories. read more

We had reservations for late September early October, my husband just passed away and I called them in tears to cancel. Without any word of condolence Sally the owner said I have to have proof of your husbands passing, either a death certificate or program from the service. I was appalled and totally in shock that this would be required and her lack of sympathy. Not one word of "I am so sorry". I did send it and called to tell her I had just emailed it and she said "oh I won't need that, I found it on the internet", again no word of "I'm so sorry". I called again to ask when I could expect the credit and was told when she finishes her work for the day. I called back after 5:00 and was told her day didn't end until she went to bed at 9:00. The next day she sent an email telling me I would not get a refund because it was too short of notice to re-rent the room, I am in shock at the lack of empathy or care that Sally showed toward me and my loss and I am very upset that she didn't explain this to me during my first phone call to ask for a refund. This is very poor and the lowest form of customer service. I am beside myself in grief, and out over $700. It is not so much the money but the way I was treated by the owner Sally and the way she handled my request. I am still shocked at how this "business" is run. Let's face it - finding a place to stay in a tourist area on short notice can be difficult. We truly lucked out when searching through the listings in Manitou Springs that the Blue Skies Inn had two rooms available for our group. We checked in late, but Mike was welcomed us with our keys and a quick tour. My sister and her husband had the Midnight Woods suite and my husband and I had Ferdinand's Garden. Both rooms were beautiful, clean and inviting. After returning from dinner, I got to enjoy the beautiful garden tub - bubble bath included in the toiletries! I'm an early riser at times and the next morning was no exception. I walked around, exploring the lovely gardens and nooks and crannies - the stairs that lead to nowhere but a simple bench to enjoy a book, the bridge to the grove from the wedding - all simply gorgeous! I ran into my brother-in-law and we took a walk along the stream by the road, going towards town. When we returned, it was almost time for breakfast. Oh, breakfast! Something for everyone! Coffee, OJ, a scrumptious egg casserole, fresh fruit and lovely muffins. Way too much for us. And we got to enjoy it in the gazebo. What a treasure we found that day! We stumbled on Blue Skies while looking for a special place to stop in Manitou Springs for an evening - and were beyond thrilled with our stay. Sally is an amazing innkeeper - the efforts she put into the grounds and in the space (we stayed in the Sunset Suite) were so intentional and inspiring. The suite was very venusian and sensual, with an AWESOME whirpool tub and quaint breakfast nook in which to eat the delightful breakfast, delivered in the AM to the door. The breakfast was divine - fluffy quiche, fresh coffee, muffins and OJ plus a lovely fruit place. The location is great, too - near the Garden of the Gods and also near Adams Mountain Cafe, which serves inventive local / fresh / organic cuisine and has a bangin new wine list w/ cocktails (you can walk there if need be!). read more

Okay this trip has offered its fair share of extremes. Today after negotiating traffic between Denver and Colorado Springs we finally arrived at Blue Skies Inn. Now to be honest this is our second time here and it's more interesting than the last. We were upgraded to the "Starlight Room" and if I was a kid again this is how I would like my room decorated. Carl Sagan books, cool paint adorns the room. And the lighting is way beyond mood. We just sat and looks at the cool display in front of us. Amazing! The last time we stayed in I guess the "Little Mermaid room" that was a little too much for my liking. But the Starlight has a signed photo of Mulder from the X Files! Too bad Scullys' wasn't there. The really excellent part about the stay is a delicious delivered breakfast each morning. All very hot with coffee and all the goodies to go. And I would say after the previous evening, this is a true upgrade in comfort. Bed is excellent and really no need for the AC, the breeze did the job. Okay this may not be on everyone's radar, but for a road trip it's an experience to relish. Plus it's well within walking distance to Manitou Springs. Great place to recharge! read more

Scheduled a romantic weekend at this bed and breakfast, my girlfriend dumped me literally two days before my stay, hotel would not offer me a refund. When I called to ask for a refund, they said no and then asked for my name to cancel my reservation, presumably to try and sell the room again. I assume all of this is within their legal rights, but just wanted to let people know who they are renting a room from. These people had zero sympathy. read more

My husband and I searched for a place to spend our 35th anniversary. I have always wanted to stay at a Bed & Breakfast, but none were handicap accessible. I had polio at the age of 5 and need a room that will accommodate my wheel chair and crutches. I looked for several places and then I came upon this gem on the internet. It truly is handicapped accessible and the room was just perfect! The doors were large enough and the bathroom shower was wonderful! The room was just beautiful and so comfortable. I know a few places that say they are handicap accessible, but they fall very short of that. Now, to tell you about the food! It was just awesome! You can tell that Sally and Mike really care about their guests in every way. They were both very charming and friendly. They have 1,500 movies to pick from, so when we wanted to just "veg" we picked a movie out and Mike brought it right to our door! The service was above and beyond. I want to make sure to tell people, that they don't have to give up doing something fun because they have a handicap. You don't have to stay in a motel/hotel you can truly go and enjoy this place just like others do. Treat yourself and go have some fun and alone time. Fantastic bed and breakfast! My boyfriend and I stayed here last April We absolutely loved it..Sally is an artist and all the rooms are beautifully decorated. They drop your breakfast off to you every morning in a basket at your doorstep..how adorable is that? You can choose to either have it inside, or outside. We sat in part of their lovely back courtyard. I kid you not...while we were eating breakfast we saw a family of deer close by laying down and eating themselves. IT was like they had breakfast with us! This place is so beautiful and peaceful. They have an outdoor hot tub which is on at night, which we used and it was SO fun! Their rooms are luxurious and spacious. Also we got a free third night because it was their off season, they did a buy 2 get 1 free...great deal! We also felt like staying another night and sally gave us a discount, which was nice of her. On top of that, this is such a beautiful area. My husband and I enjoyed a weekend getaway at Blue Skies Inn. Mike greeted us, showed us our suite, and answered all our questions. We stayed in the Morning Glory room and also looked at the Starlight Suite across the Hall. Sally has decorated them so beautifully. From the faux walls, beautiful murals, and overhanging floral lights in the bedroom to the painted tile, jetted tub, and beautiful inlaid stones around the tub and fireplace, not a detail was missed. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, a huge movie collection, playing cards in the drawer, and a delicious large breakfast topped it off. There is a share fridge and microwave just outside the door between the two suites. We only went out for dinner and a movie. The grounds are very relaxing with many tucked away spots to sit and talk while enjoying the gardens. They also have a hot tub in a gazebo. I highly recommend it for a couples' getaway. There are so many tourist spots within minutes of the Inn, you have no reason to be bored. However, if you are like us and just want to relax and be together, it's the perfect spot for that as well. My husband and I have stayed here on two separate occasions and we have loved it both times. The rooms are awesome, everyone is extremely friendly, the surroundings are beautiful the breakfast is very good. During our second stay Sally knew that I was sick and that my husband and I where going to camp the next night. She said if I wasn't up for camping that we could stay another night for half price. I took my husband to Blue Skies Inn in Manitou Springs, CO for his birthday and am I glad I did. The owners, Mike and Sally, are wonderful people and make you feel so comfortable. They are easy to communicate with and genuinely want their guests to be happy. They also provide several options to choose from (reasonably priced) to make your stay special, including in room massages. The rooms are spacious, beautiful and exceptionally clean. Each room is beautifully decorated in a different theme, done by the very talented Sally. The bathrooms are exquisite. The grounds are gorgeous to walk around. There are several options for hanging out, on the porch or any of the tables in the gardens. Sitting next to the waterfalls is so relaxing, not to mention the deer strolling through and the birds singing. Love the hot tub. An exceptional collection of DVD's (in the thousands) to suit anyone's interest, all you have to do is call and they deliver them to your room. The breakfasts are wonderful and delivered to your door by Mike. You receive a hot, homemade, delicious breakfast in a basket. You choose where and when you want to eat; in your room, in bed, in one of the gardens or throw it in the car and find your own special place to enjoy. I cannot think of a single thing that they have forgotten or overlooked. I would highly recommend a stay here for any occasion, a romantic getaway, a girls weekend, or just some quality time with the special people in your life.
