I don't know what this dessert was but it was SO GOOD
    CeCee S.

I treated my daughter to afternoon tea for her birthday. The valet experience was a bit off-putting we waited several minutes without acknowledgment before anyone approached us. Once inside, though, the experience quickly turned around. As an architecture lover, I was blown away by the beautifully restored mansion. Every room was grand, thoughtfully designed, and full of ornate details. The hostess noticed my interest and gave me a booklet on the mansion's history, which I appreciated. We were seated promptly, with fireplaces lit and proper, polished service throughout. The tea service was lovely: light, airy scones with cream and jam, and excellent finger sandwiches. Before the dessert course we had this nice creamy smooth and not too sweet dessert that was a standout favorite. The final dessert course, inspired by Salvador Dalí and surrealist art, was visually stunning with incredible chocolate detail, but unfortunately far too sweet and fruit-forward for my taste. We didn't finish either. Despite the rough valet start and overly sweet desserts, we had a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning and having a meal in one of the other gorgeous dining areas.

Second time to restaurant week at the Mansion and this time was just as good. The service here is incredible. We got sat in the sun room area so had some great views and almost felt like we weren't in Dallas. To start with we got the rolls which were really good. Soft and fluffy with some butter was yum. I got the lobster chopped salad as my first course. This was a phenomenal salad that is one of the best I have ever had. The dressing was the perfect amount and there was a ton of lobster on it. I was expecting one small piece of lobster so was very happy with all of it. The only part I didn't like was the fennel in the salad but that's a personal taste issue and I still ate it all. For the second course I got the scallop on the half shell. Was cooked perfectly and so buttery exactly how scallops are supposed to be. I could have easily eaten many more of these. For my main, I got the oak smoked beef cheeks. These were so tender and just fell apart with a fork. They did have a very strong oak smoke flavor but with the eggplant caponata beneath the cheeks, it worked really well. My dessert was the chocolate raspberry tiramisu which was also good. I like how it was different from normal tiramisu but still was a tiramisu. I've only ever been for restaurant week but should really go back another time just for a regular meal.

Hey fellas, does you GF/Wife watch shows like Bridgerton or Downton Abbey? Has she ever mentioned wanting to do an afternoon tea? Well, that's what I set out to find her on a recent trip to Dallas. Checked out a few places but settled on The Mansion Restaurant. Reservation made; Titanic Exhibit tickets purchased. Spent the morning finding out if the passenger I was assigned lived! Called to move our reservation up as we finished early. Seated immediately; wasn't even given any hassle regarding my cowboy hat. Tea choices made and glasses of Bollinger were poured. Let me touch on something for a moment. I live outside Austin in Hays County. There MIGHT be 3 restaurants in my county that has an ahhum "pastry chef" employed. Tortillas are another story... Finger sandwiches delivered along with some nice looking small sweet bites served on a tower. Jam and clotted cream (never had it before) on the bottom for the scones if that was your thing. GF doesn't even like fish but liked the Smoked Salmon. Cucumber version was refreshing with mint leaves tucked between the bread. Curry Chicken was a new experience for both of us. Seriously, never thought of adding curry powder to chicken salad!! All the bites we had were tasty and unfortunately we left the leftovers in the hotel when we left Dallas. No gold flake for me! As I'm writing this I'm staring over at a 3 star review from Lynn C giving the same experience 3 starts citing boring interior and cheap ingredients. OMG, was it Butter Crust bread??? This is a premium experience in a premium spot. Was it worth basically $300 for two with automatic gratuity plus some cash for server and valet? This is an easy yes because of the smile on her face.

If you're looking for an elegant experience, definitely try this restaurant. The setting is beautiful, very sophisticated and ornate. Sat in the library and had a great meal. The cocktails were crafty and unique. The wine list unbelievably complete with a huge price range and quality. The special of the night was the halibut which was delicate and delicious. Our appetizers were equally delightful, we had the lobster and caviar lumpia. Our Wayne was a beautiful St Emillion from a winery that we had visited 10 years ago, but I've never seen their wine here in the states at a restaurant. The service was impeccable. Overall, an excellent experience.

A true fine dining experience! Service was excellent, steak cooked perfectly and don't skip the fries! It was beautifully decorated for Christmas so I highly recommend for a festive celebratory meal!

Really enjoyed my breakfast at the restaurant while staying in the hotel. The yogurt parfait was served with vanilla greek yogurt and was light but satisfying. My girlfriend said that the avocado toast was great. They had a really good selection of hot teas and the service was very attentive.

Truly HOSPITABLE waitress par excellence. You must witness her knowledgeable, warm service.

Visited the Mansion Restaurant at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek sometime around 1997 for a pleasant lunch. At its conclusion, a thoughtful waitress took me on a mini tour of the ground floor. This time around I was shown an ornate ceiling next to the grand dining room by possibly the same person which speaks to the loyalty of the Mansion employees.   Driving up to the Mansion, it is a class act as an aesthetic site having a pleasant mélange of mostly Italianate architecture as well as interior touches of pan European elements. Built in the Roaring Twenties by a cotton king who in his own way mirrored Wm. Randolph Hearst in his acquisition of European objets d'Art.  Using the spectacular total solar eclipse in Dallas, I wanted to return to the Mansion for a more involved 7 course wine pairing dining experience. My waitress in my enclosed photo was a truly HOSPITABLE waitress par excellence.  You must witness her knowledgeable, warm service as well as being escorted toward the restroom by a personable house receptionist. Fine service here seems to be the Mansion's strong point.  0) Parker House Roll: Yeasty, bit sticky, sour, browned in egg wash. The food was once again top notch. The service on the other hand was a tad neglectful and indifferent. It was ok service but not the level you would expect from such a pricey restaurant. We had the squash blossoms to start. We finished them without even thinking about it. We could have eaten another plate they were so good. We also shared a super delicious porterhouse that was cooked to our preferred temperature and we shared some roasted cauliflower to go alongside them. . We finished with a strawberry tart that was light and easy.

5 stars and it rivals a few well-known fine dining places in Southern California. They have all the details covered- from storing your winter coat, handing you the menu and draping the napkin on your lap to escorting you directly to the bathroom and folding your napkin while you're gone. They pick up crumbs and keep your space tidy, and refill your water with haste. Did not feel rushed or impatient at any point. Everything is perfectly timed. If you don't care about all that, their food is what truly shines. Wine menu is extensive and excellent. We were tempted by the tasting menu but ultimately decided to share the crab cake, filet mignon, fish of the day (striped bass), mashed potatoes, and Texas sheet cake. They also offered an amuse bouche of a spicy tomato soup, and even capped off our meal with a little chocolate brownie. Every single dish was excellent, which is a difficult feat. Usually one dish is just okay. Not here. They do everything quite well. And I haven't even mentioned the setting. Exquisitely detailed ceilings, glass windows, a fireplace, sweeping views from the staircase, and even a lovely bar area with music. One of the most romantic restaurants I've visited.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

Knowledgeable about the menu & great recommendations. Kev was a joy to have as our server. The food is amazing & love the ambiance of the restaurant. My only complaint...we came in early Saturday prior to Stars game. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked to wait. Waited maybe 5-10mins. No biggie, A lot of open tables were available for immediate sit down. Again that wasn't a big deal. I had asked for a booth & wanted to sit in front room. The hostess said no a problem. She handed us off to a younger hostess and she took us to a table. I told her I had requested a booth. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. The restaurant wasn't busy at all & never was whole time there. Kev wasn't sure why she didn't move us a requested & was puzzled himself. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact. Again Kev was amazing & food was outstanding!

My friend got the fried catfish, which she enjoyed. We also shared greens and mac and cheese. The greens were wayyyy too salty, but the mac and cheese was solid. Our drinks were also pretty good. We tried the lamb chops -- great flavor, nicely seasoned, though slightly on the tougher side. The truffle fries? Loved. The burger? Delicious. The oysters? Fresh and absolutely worth ordering. The cornbread was served with a bone marrow butter that added a rich twist, and the cornbread had a subtle jalapeño kick (at least to me!), which I really enjoyed. For drinks we tried the pear cobbler, Island Boy and the Pixie Cup. We enjoyed the pear cobbler the most. The ambiance is warm and inviting -- the kind of place you could come for happy hour and accidentally stay all evening. And I believe parking is validated.
