Sorry for one more review but I haveta note this for you. At lunch Friday we began, as always, with the tropical vibed shrimp and mango ceviche. It is a delightful medley of shrimp, fruit and vegetable colors, flavors, and textures. We wanted to share a fish dish and discussed the several offerings with our delightful and efficient server, Shara. I'm quite deaf and consequently always miss a lot. Today that cost me for the entree that we selected $20 more than I thought but it proved to be totally worth it! We opted for the Chilean Sea Bass. What I did not hear is Shara say that she loves this dish as it is prepared for the dinner menu where it is served atop an amazingly savory, creamy lobster risotto surrounded by a garnish of bright green pesto aioli. I said, "Well, lets go with that dish". So glad we did! The fish could not have been cooked any more perfectly and the fish with the lobster risotto and pesto just sang. As always the remarkable kitchen here plated beautifully the shared entree for us separately. No split plate charge. This proved to be the most enjoyable restaurant dish we've had in a very good while. So happy I did not hear Shara as I probably would have declined ordering the dinner menu version. Hahaha. Al Biernat's was abuzz when we walked through the door for dinner a few Saturday's ago. I quickly noticed the crowd skews older, which isn't a problem just an observation. I love that they have matchbooks, because I have quickly turned into a Dallas matchbook enthusiast. I started with an old fashioned and had a cup of their crab and corn chowder, which was very tasty. My bestie ordered the goat cheese salad, which was so refreshing. Excellent choice. As much as it sounded like a good idea to do steak at a steak place, I just couldn't bring myself to on this occasion and opted for the red snapper dish. It was very nicely done, and a seriously solid portion. Bestie had a filet, I tried a bite and it was good but I only have steak on a few occasions. We shared some type of peanut butter dessert which truth be told, I can't quite recall so I won't call it unremarkable but I can recall my old fashioned, soup and fish dish - so perhaps try a different dessert option. The food was absolutely amazing. We went for lunch and had meatloaf and huevos rancheros with a wedge salad on the side. Our total came out to $57 and it was worth every penny. The meatloaf was a bit dry and gamey but the sides were cooked perfectly and the mushroom sauce was so so good. The huevos rancheros had a bed of diced beef tenderloin along with a beans, eggs, sauce, avocado ... and it. was. so. good. They did not skimp on the beef and all the flavors and textures went so well together. Highly recommend this place. Food came out pretty fast and piping hot. Only downside is the parking lot is teeny tiny and is VALET ONLY. Still can't say enough good things about this place. Hey man I was at a conference filled with all kinds of fancy people, and those fancy people recommended that I go to Al's for dinner. I looked it up. It looked amazing and it met every expectation. The vibe was amazing great music playing lively, active bar. people were dressed to impress friend, friendly, quick attentive service, but the food let me tell you about the food. I ordered the cowboy cut, ribeye medium rare. It was cooked to perfection with a beautiful crust. I topped that with a lobster. My wife had the surf and turf. For appetizers we had calamari and shrimp cocktail and as sides we have the broccoli skillet potatoes, and the macaroni and cheese. Finished with the crème brûlée. Fabulous experience! Shoutout to our amazing server, Nick, for his outstanding hospitality and service! First time at this classic restaurant. My recommendation on food: Brad's Pear Salad... a perfect blend of sweet and savory in a salad that would balance your tastebuds, very flavorful. The Prime Rib... thick and juicy and simple. Very delicious and again, very flavorful. I ordered this baby, rare, and they got it right! If you're into prime rib, this one is up your alley. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Pie..... they have peanut butter cups inside this very meaty dessert. Delicious, but not too overly sweet. The bar scene was lively and full of gusto. Honestly, terrible hospitality all around. I couldn't even get a response from the general manager, James, after privately reaching out about a negative dining experience, so now I have to hope that posting something publicly can make a difference. Places like this are often reserved for special occasions, and for some people, an experience like this may only happen once a year, if they're lucky. To have a disappointing experience and then be completely blown off when trying to address it privately is absolutely unacceptable. Please do better. read more

Great food - great service - good night! We came here to celebrate a friend's engagement and it did not disappoint. For drinks they have a great selection of - and they were strong! My husband drinks Hibiki whiskey which we can't always find when at restaurants. I had an Espresso Martini and a chocolatini for dessert! We had a bottle of Moët to celebrate and the server bought us a shot of Clase Azul For Apps we had wagyu carpaccio and crab cakes - both amazing For entree we had Sea Bass on a bed of risotto and Veal Ossobuco also served with risotto. For sides we had spinach - this was the only item I was not impressed with - needed more seasoning. Also the lobster Mac and cheese - which was great. For dessert we all ate off the complimentary apple crumb cake and cheese cake. Also both very good! The best thing about this place is the service - all waiters on board and check on you constantly even if not the primary one. Took my aunt to Al Biernat's for Mother's Day, and while it was a mixed experience food-wise, what mattered most was that she had a wonderful time. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which unfortunately was way too tomatoey for my taste - so much so that I actually couldn't finish it. The tomato flavor completely overpowered the dish and made it pretty inedible for me. However, the bread pudding was absolutely incredible - easily a 10/10 dessert that more than made up for the disappointing main course. Rich, perfectly textured, and exactly what you want from a great bread pudding. Most importantly, my aunt was thrilled with her meal and the whole experience, which honestly made everything worth it. Sometimes the company and the occasion matter more than perfect food, and seeing her happy on Mother's Day was really all I could ask for. I cannot and would not be eating here on my own, simply because my money all goes to taking care of my kids. But I rarely turn down an opportunity to eat if it is job related..hence why I can review. Since Al passed, it has not been the same. Bar service during the day is great, but the evening bar staff are less great. They are kind to regulars and that's about it. The food quality has gone down, but it's not the worst either. My boyfriend and I went here for our 2 year anniversary and had the best dinner our server was extremely nice and the second we arrived there the staff wished us a happy anniversary! I got the chicken Parmesan with vodka cream sauce, and it was absolutely delicious! Al Biernats is top tier Steakhouses we have in town. The service the food everything is amazing. They take care of their customers very well. The ambiance is classy and elegant. They have a live piano playing everyday which adds to the ambiance You cannot go wrong with anything here but my favorites are the Chilean sea bass or the Halibut with tempura shrimp. One of our favorite go-to's when my client and I go for lunch. When the weather in Dallas is pleasant, we like to sit on the outside, open air patio. From the car valet to the wait staff, we've visited frequently enough for my client's fedora and our similarly clipped goatees to be recognized, so we're treated like royalty. But then, most diners at Al Biernat's are, regulars and new comers alike. The food is always outstanding. I've been to a lot of upscale restaurants but didn't find the food to be of the same caliber considering the price point. We came with a party of eight on a Saturday evening. Our server was very helpful and suggested the Al's Classic Seafood Platter because of its size. I wasn't too impressed with it as the tempura prawns were overly battered and not very tasty. Although the crab cakes were quite meaty, they too were overly battered. In my opinion, good quality seafood should not require such a thick batter unless the taste is being compromised. I ordered the Al's salad and our server advised I could order a half salad and was pleased she did as it was plentiful. I actually liked it better than my main course. Our server suggested to order a la cart and a smaller portion of meat when I advised her I didn't want the entree that was on the menu. I really appreciated her. I ordered an 8oz filet mignon and a side of brussels sprouts which were served as a generous portion, delicously flavored and crisped to perfection. I ate a few bites of the filet mignon which I was not very pleased with. I also ordered a red glass of Italian wine but they were out of it. Although our server was great at taking our order, she did forget to ask if we wanted coffee with our dessert. I would have appreciated ordering one however the tab had already been presented. Other staff was also very good at refilling our drinks & bringing our bread, appetizers, etc. the lobster bisque was delicious! Lots of soup & great flavor. I had not eaten at Al Biernat's for 10 years and I honestly do not know why. I had my birthday dinner there yesterday and it was excellent. Everything we ordered for 4 people, was delicious. They even brought a birthday dessert, although the staff would not sing Happy Birthday to me. I have always liked the ambiance there and they pour really good drinks. Going into the restaurant feels like entering a grotto to me. It was the best meal I've had in the last year, truly, and we eat at high end restaurants. Great service too. Steakhouse Review #4: Al Biernat's. Made reservations on a Friday night for 7:30pm. Got a ride because parking is a challenge here (valet only) and it just seemed easier. The host desk is around the bar and this created a lot of congestion with limited space to wait. There were literally tables in the front that had crowds of people standing at their tables while they ate. We waited about 40 minutes for a table and were ready to get our grub on when the time came. The decor inside was fine, with the place seeming accessible and appealing to all. Nothing really special but it was...fine. On our way to our table, we were stopped twice with two apologies by staff for the wait. Nice touch. We were seated in the back which we appreciated as the noise was minimized. Our waiter, Nick, was great. We ordered a filet, mac & cheese, brussel sprouts, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, and green beans. We also had a chocolate martini and watermelon/basil martini and both did their job but maybe weren't worth it. The complimentary bread basket was good with the rye bread being a big standout. This was the best overall meal we've had thus far. The filet was cooked perfectly, tender, and so good, the creamed corn (yaassss for the crunchy AND the creamy) was my fave, the mashers good, and brussels were tangy. All were divine. The mac & cheese was okay though not cheesy or special enough, and just go ahead and skip the green beans. Nick brought us out all the steak sauces because he's sweet like that and we truly enjoyed them all. My fave was the black peppercorn. We ordered the coconut cream pie for dessert, which Al's is famous for, and it was amazing...not too sweet and didn't have that fake coconut taste (which we enjoy on occasion). It's our fave dessert and this is one of the best we've ever had. Get it! Overall, this was a solid meal and we would definitely return. The meal was $150 and we tipped $70 for a total of $220. Had dinner at Al Biernat's last night and I'm still thinking about it. Started strong with Al's Bluechip Martini, which set the tone immediately (aka: dangerous in the best way, so dangerous in fact that I needed two). For appetizers, we ordered the classic seafood platter with the tempura tiger prawn, fried calamari, and crab cake, plus the Wagyu carpaccio. The crab cakes were the undisputed star of the night--hands down my favorite thing I ate. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and paired with all the sauces. I would order these again without hesitation and possibly fight my dining companion (boyfriend) for the last bite. The calamari was good but nothing groundbreaking--solid, crispy, no complaints, just not stealing the spotlight. The Wagyu carpaccio was silky and rich, with pine nuts, parmesan, olive oil, and sesame lavosh adding great texture and flavor--light but indulgent at the same time. For mains, we had the sea scallops and the chicken parmesan. The scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious, and the coconut rice was unlike anything I've had before--in a very good way. Slightly sweet, unexpected, and it worked beautifully with the roasted cauliflower and lime vinaigrette. The chicken parm was super interesting (in a "wait, is that sauce inside the breading?" way). It almost tasted like the sauce was baked into the crust, which made it extra flavorful and honestly kind of genius. Sides were the Brussels sprouts and signature potatoes. The Brussels had great flavor thanks to the bacon and sriracha maple soy glaze, but I would've loved them even more if they were crispier. The signature potatoes with gruyère, cheddar, and bacon were exactly what you want them to be (rich, cheesy, and impossible to stop eating). Portion sizes were generous, the value felt totally worth it, and the service was excellent. Our waiter joked around with me and my boyfriend all night, which made the experience even better...top-tier food and personality? We love to see it. My wife and I started a tradition of going to a fancy lunch on Christmas Eve, centered around seafood normally....We went to The Water Grill for two years before it closed and then TruLucks, which was nice, but the ambiance wasn't all that great. OMG Al Biernat's was what we were looking for all along! The food was out of this world. It was busy but FUN as everyone was in a festive mood, dressed up and catered by a waitstaff that by far was the best I have ever seen in my whole life. We had 7 different people assist or drop by to see if they could do anything for us. The Manager was a delight and our waiter was extremely efficient, though he was taking care of at least five or six other tables. Considering the number of times I have been to this location, this review is a bit overdue. Most of my visits have been for Sunday brunch and I have zero complaints regarding my experiences. For openers, parking is complimentary valent (remember to tip). Otherwise, if available, there is street parking in the area. For both arrivals and departures, the valet staff does an excellent job of ensuring the wait is kept to a minimum and they do in a very friendly manner. After completing the parking process, check in with receptionist always goes smoothly. Weather permitting, on some days they have a separate receptionist for indoor and outdoor dining. They have one of the best patios arounds that sits on the just off the entrance and provides a view of the parking lot. While this may not sound exciting, if you are into cars, there are usually a number of Bentley's, Rolls Royce's, plus other luxury cars coming and going. The indoor dining area is equally as nice and very spacious. Seating consists of tables/chairs in the middle of the dining area with booths along the outside. Add to that, they have full bar with seating. The bar is located immediately after the entrance and contains seating on both sides. All the staff here are spectacular and provide top notch service. Every server I've had has always been friendly and attentive. On my most recent visit, the server remembered serving our group ~1 year ago when we there as part of a larger group celebrating a birthday. He enthusiastically welcomed us back and glad to see us again (thankfully, we were on our best behavior that day and created a good memory...LOL). Be a large party or just a few people, the staff always provides excellent service. As for the food, top notch. As I mentioned, most of my visits have been for Sunday brunch and I never tire of their brunch menu. Everything I've had is always prepared per order, comes out matching the menu description and is always tasty. While my go to on the brunch menu is American Breakfast, I have also enjoyed the Crawfish Etouffee Benedict, Shrimp and Grits, and the Chilean Sea Bass. Their brunch menu contains a variety of items and accommodates many diet types. Lastly, they have a bar that offers a wide range of beverages including some great brunch cocktails, mocktails, whiskeys, and wines. Add to that they have some seasonal cocktails along with some signature cocktails. Thank you to Al Biernat's for always providing an awesome dining experience.
