We went here for lunch on a Sunday and had an excellent experience. The interior is gorgeous. The restaurant is New Orleans-themed. The interior reminds me of New Orleans for sure. The atmosphere is sophisticated and upscaled without being too pretentious. The menu definitely resembles one you would find in New Orleans. We were seated in a booth and our waiter, Mario, appeared shortly thereafter to take our drink order. It was not yet noon but I had a Bloody Mary anyway with Grey Goose vodka and it was excellent. Mario provided excellent service throughout our meal. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and they were excellent. Very flavorful yet light with no oyster aftertaste at all. I had the French Dip and it was excellent. It comes with three small sandwich-type pieces and at first I thought it would not be enough, but by the end of the three pieces and the fries, I was stuffed. The meat is high quality and shaved super thin. There is a horseradish sauce and an au jus for dipping. Both were excellent and I could not decide which I liked more, so I alternated bite by bite. The fries are thin and crispy with good flavor. Upscale fries for sure. The wife had the lunch special for $26 which gets either gumbo or a salad, and then a choice of entree from about 6-7 options. She chose the Redfish and it was prepared perfectly. The fish was moist and tender, with no fishy aftertaste. The kid had the hamburger, which at $22 was not a good deal for a kid, but she liked it and at half and almost all of the fries. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but hey, it's Highland Park. Two stars is strictly because the Bar Tender, Isaiah, was accommodating and kind.. martini was great and steak was cooked correctly! I came in just shy of 3pm, the hostess looked at me but made no greeting. I sat at the bar and it took atleast 10 minutes for my presence to even be acknowledged, by ANY employee (other servers, bar tender, manager etc) The bar tender seemed to be the only person running the whole floor, so some grace given. Again, a 'Hi, please have a seat I'll be with you shortly' would've been nice ‍ Isaiah took care of me extremely well once I got settled. The martini was excellent and promptly made. I ordered oysters to start off. Half of them were only par removed.. so imagine me trying to slide the oyster only to find it stuck and awkwardly trying to remove it while half of it in my mouth. The mignonette and cocktail sauce were also so terrible. They also didn't bring me the oyster fork either so had to ask for that. BUTTTTT they were great east coast oysters! So if they're prepared correctly, I'd recommend! Took a gamble and continued with my ordering endeavor. The petite filet. Ordered Med Rare and my guy cooked it right - for not being a steakhouse, I applaud! The Bearnaise sauce was really nice too. I will say everything was very heavy handed with salt - from the oyster accompaniments to the main course. Jack & Harry's feels like Dallas threw a dinner party New Orleans style. It's not going to authentic but it is delicious. We came for a birthday and it ended up being way better than expected. Start with the bread basket. Warm, crispy, and basically designed for wiping every sauce off every plate whether you planned to or not. The BBQ shrimp sauce alone is worth ordering it. Rich, buttery, and borderline drinkable. The snapper was light and flaky and nicely balanced against all the richer dishes. The rigatoni bolognese was comforting and hearty without being heavy, a solid classic done well. The creamed spinach was good too, though I'd personally dial back the cheese just a bit. Then the French Onion Steak showed up and completely stole the night. Perfect cook, deep flavor, and the onion topping should honestly come with a warning label. One of the best bites I've had in a while. Drinks were great. Espresso martini was exactly right and the Vieux Carré was a fun nod to the New Orleans theme. Since we were celebrating a birthday they brought out complimentary little green shots which was both adorable and a dangerous idea. Beautiful restaurant, it has the perfect ambience if you're looking for a romantic date night spot that doesn't look or feel like you're in Dallas. My major things to note were: The service was a little slow. This place is good if you don't know how good in New Orleans is supposed to taste. For example, we got the BBQ shrimp and the sauce that came with it was not a BBQ shrimp sauce. It was thick like an etouffee roux and came with rice. So it was a little off putting, not bad.. just inaccurate. Also, for the price of the food, I expect a larger portion. Everything we ordered was miniature size so it felt. From the fish and ravioli dish to the onion rings, we wish there was more. Not to mention, we paid $13 (I think) and they only gave us 5 onion rings with two of them being super small. It just felt like a rip off. All in all, this place isn't bad.. the crab cake was good, the truffle mac was very truffly if you like that! But i think J&H would benefit from working on the authenticity factor. Like, I saw on the wall a list of menu offerings and beignets were one. So I asked if beignets were on the menu and the server said "no. He's working on perfecting the recipe". There's parking on the side and behind the building, but it's not a lot, but you're still in luck because it's located in a shopping strip, so there's more than enough! You might have to walk.. but it's enough. Walked in to a nearly empty place around 2ish. I was very surprised because the videos I saw, always had a lot of people. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks a side car and a jackrabbit. I didn't care for the tangy taste of the jackrabbit, but good thing I didn't have to drink it. The side car was strong.. phew it took me awhile to drink it. *side note I'm a light weight The side Cesar salad was a cute presentation, and taste like a Cesar. The deviled eggs did have more of a mustard taste than what I'm use to.. and a big taste, not sure about what it was but it was kinda strong. The lobster spaghetti is what we both ordered, because, we never heard of something like that haha we're both from New Orleans, but this was never on any menu in our homes or restaurants. The presentation was nice, the taste wasn't too bad either, but I would have loved a burst of flavor, to really show the New Orleans. If I came back and ordered again I wouldn't order this. Randomly stopped in on a busy Saturday night while walking by. They were fully booked and bar seating was packed, but the hostess let me know a table was available for about an hour and a half if I was okay with the time limit. I really appreciated the transparency and the option, so I stayed. The ambiance instantly transports you to an old-school, classy Creole restaurant--very New Orleans, from the décor to the menu. I was short on time and ordered the cold seafood platter and stuffed mushrooms. The seafood platter was fine, nothing standout, but those mushrooms stole the show. Crispy, cheesy on top with a perfectly meaty filling--absolutely delicious. The menu is packed with Cajun favorites, and I don't feel like I got the full experience this visit. I came to Jack & Harry's to celebrate my birthday and while there were some highlights, a few details left me uncertain about returning. Let's start with the food, the Oysters Rockefeller were actually very tasty, but the menu didn't clearly state they'd be fried. That threw me off a bit, especially since I was expecting the traditional preparation. My steak frites entree, cooked medium, was the standout: perfectly done with a beautiful outer sear and tender inside. Crisp fries and a well-seasoned plate overall. I ordered a regular margarita, which was just okay, but here's where it got weird, the menu listed margaritas at $16.99, but I was charged $20 for a regular one because it deviated from their specialty versions. I didn't ask for anything custom, so that felt unnecessarily confusing and not very transparent. The restaurant itself is clean and has a cozy, upscale vibe. Service started out strong and attentive, but as the night went on and the place filled up, our server became harder to find. That drop-off in attentiveness stood out. I also tend to notice when management walks the floor to check in on guests, a common touch whether I'm at a fast casual place or somewhere fine dining and that presence was missing here. This time I went for lunch. My last visit was for happy hour with friends. I wanted to mix it up and take my mom for a lunch outing. I highly recommend reservations. Service was good! Asher was my waiter again and he was still charming, pleasant and polite. They were short staffed, but he handled the situation well. He remained poised and professional. Ambiance was good I requested one of the big booths by the window this time. I was cozy and comfortable. Food was mostly good. I have to take a star off this time. Here is my breakdown. Spicy Caesar 5 Stars Just a playful and spicy twist and I really enjoyed this again. Deviled Eggs 4 Stars These were flavorful and I love the creamy and crunchy texture. Oysters Rockefeller 3.5 Stars They were not as hot as the first time. It was like they had been sitting for a while. They came out warm and this was slightly disappointing. Seafood Gumbo 1 Star Presentation was nice, but the flavor was awful. Probably the worst gumbo I have ever had in my life. I had to add Crystals hot sauce. This was the only way I could have eaten it. Muffuletta Sliders 3 Stars Average and decent quality. These definitely taste better in Louisiana. They need a little extra love and tweaking. Drinks 5 Stars The minitini was EVERYTHING! The mini espresso shot was perfect in flavor and delicious. Overall this visit was good. Not as great as my first visit. I will continue ordering my favorites and try something new each time. Deviled Eggs, Caesar Salad and Oysters are all great. Gumbo and Muffuletta is a NO. LOVE this place. We always sit at the bar and have great service. The beef carpaccio, French onion soup filet mignon and their bread which Zain our bartender/server recommended was amazing. Overall, my mother and I enjoyed our Easter lunch. The inside was beautiful and definitely gave New Orleans charm. I was not aware that they serve lunch every day, so it was a surprise to see the lunch menu for Easter. Because of this, we had to regroup on what we were going to eat. Naturally, we had questions. We started out a little rocky because our server seemed to be taken aback by us asking whether or not items were spicy or asking about items on the menu in general since it was our first time there. She ended up warming up to us as time went on, but I sensed a bit of an attitude initially. I was regretting my decision to dine here on Easter after church and almost asked for another server. We decided on the Cajun chicken lunch special as well as the club sandwich. With that, I got the seafood gumbo. It was good but nothing like homemade. I also got the oysters Rockefeller.. so good. Went for lunch with a friend. There was no wait. Very nice inside. The wait staff was pleasant. Both my friend and I got the Cajun chicken lunch special. I got it with the chicken and sausage gumbo. Continue to love the New Orleans ambience. Service was ok, but we got pushed pretty hard on getting appetizers a couple of times I thought, it took a long time to get our drinks from the bar, and I had to flag her down a couple of times vs her being attentive. It was a large portion for the smaller size and could've easily been shared. Not much dressing on it so it was kind of dry but interesting it had avocado chunks. I probably would not order it again. For my entrée, tried the standard fillet this time. Supposed to be 10 ounces but honestly seemed like 8 max. For $68 I have to say I was not impressed with the fillet. Just not much flavor. It was cooked exactly as I ordered, medium, rare and tender, but bland. Ordered the Mr. B's twice baked potato as a side. It was OK but again kind of dry. Luckily they provide sour cream. I've been to Mr. B's many times in New Orleans and loved their food there. My friend had the French dip which he said was very good, but way too much bread and less meat than he would've thought. The accompanying matchstick french fries were very good. For some reason, it doesn't come with ketchup for the french fries and it took a very long time for our waitress to bring it after we asked twice. My wife had the red snapper which she said was exceptional on a delicious bed of ravioli. We've been here twice, and the fish offerings have been outstanding both times. read more

So, no wait, no crowd, but could still appreciate the ambiance and the hype. Service: Great and as expected in this type of establishment. I was seated quickly. Came here after hearing rave reviews and walking past it many times. Needless to say, the Jack & Harry's lived up to the hype. My friends and I shared the fresh oysters and the large ceaser salad and I ordered the redfish as my main dish. The oysters were fresh and presented beautifully with acrutriments, and the salad was a fairly large portion even split between the five of us. The redfish made the whole experience. It was flavorful, perfectly done with a slight crispiness on the outside and a really great sauce. I wish the fish came with something other than a small portion of rice, but it was overall a very good dish. Our service was pretty good, and the restaurant is beautiful. Visited with party of 5. I had set up a reservation using the restaurants website. There is a dress code. When we arrived it was 1pm the restaurant wasn't packed at all. The size isn't huge but very well put together with nice color scheme and a tastefully luxurious elegance about the place. The dress code seemed more relaxed than we thought. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu was simple and consisted of steaks and seafood with a few classics like shrimp po boy and burger. I came specifically for the prime rib po boy. My wife went with the steak frites. My daughter had the cheeseburger as part of the special. The special comes with a cup of gumbo and a side salad. A fantastic value! The food was outstanding! The prime rib sandwich had such a buttery flavor. I had a long Island ice tea and it was well prepared and very enjoyable. My daughter wouldn't typically try something like a gumbo but she went for it and really enjoyed it. She was nice enough to give me a taste and I enjoyed it so much I ordered my own cup. My daughter definitely cleaned her bowl up. Wife's steak frites was outstanding. The sauce they add on top really just elevated the plate. For dessert we ordered the ice cream sandwich and sorbet. I was so excited to try this restaurant but I was a little disappointed. I had high expectations based on the tik toks I had seen. The restaurant is indeed beautiful. There's an equestrian/grey hound old Louisiana theme which was really nice. We waited very briefly even though we had reservations. I didn't like where we were seated. Right by the fire place. I asked about a table next to us but was told that it was booked yet the entire time we were there , no one sat there... I started with a French 75 and my husband got a margarita. Even though a margarita was on the menu he was essentially charged an extra $5 or $6 ,for what ?I'm unsure. "Margarita" had a price and then there was another price beside "casamigo" though a specific liquor wasn't requested. My French 75 wasn't on the menu but i was charged similarly. A price for the "French 75" and then a price for the liquor used?? I've only seen that if a specific liquor is requested, which again, we did not. (See receipt) Very odd. As appetizers ,we got the oyster rockefeller. The menu doesn't mention the Rockefeller as being fried so that was a little off putting. But they were delicious! They even made half without the creamed spinach since my husband is lactose intolerant which was wonderful. We also ordered the daily baked sour dough which was delicious. As an entre I opted for the Parmesan crusted snapper and my husband got the steak frites. I was expecting a whole snapper and got a standard cut however it was absolutely delicious. I would have loved a little more of the sauce. I saved some of the sour dough precisely for dipping but there was little to dip it in. As a side for the table we also got brussel sprouts. They were advertised as drizzle with balsamic glaze with bacon bits , however it was more like drenched. So much so that the Brussels were soggy and weren't crispy anymore. It was too sweet for my liking as well. They did bring out a complementary dessert as it was my husbands birthday however , as I said previously he is lactose intolerant and they brought out an ice cream sandwich dessert. Where they lose the mark- the service, from the hostess to the waiter, service was below expectations. 1. If I'm coming in with a reservation for dinner, don't try to seat me at the bar. 2. If I request a specific side to my entree, do not act as if I'm requesting something off menu, and scoff at my request. The dress code was not followed for a Saturday dinner- plenty of casual jeans, tank tops, college shirts on display. We were in Snider Plaza today and wanted to try someplace new and so we were feeling brave and walked into Jack and Harry's. We are so glad we did, as we had one of the best lunches and best service encounters we have had in a very long time anywhere. The very classy New Orleans ambiance only added to the appeal we had for the place and we had not even gotten to the food yet! I love a good Prime Rib French Dip. It's been since Houston's closed since I have had one of their quality. I've had my eye on Jack and Harry's since they opened earlier this year. I love a good Steak Frites so i just knew i had to get here as soon as possible. This is a swanky looking New Orleans inspired joint in Snider Plaza. Simple but elegant from the outside, all the intimate, cozy vibes on the inside. From the moment you step in, you are so well taken care of. The hostess was so sweet and welcoming, we were seated right away. Definitely recommend a reservation unless you are sitting at the bar maybe. Katie was our waitress and she was such a delight! Always checking on us, kept us laughing and was just very attentive despite how busy they were. Everything was absolutely outstanding!! We started with the BBQ Shrimp to share for the table. This is served with a roux and rice similar to gumbo so there is plenty to go around. Caesar salad - delish but a little pricey at $16. I would order it again though. Finally got to try this place after reading so many reviews. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there today with lunch. I must say for us, it was an excellent experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. We had reservations and were seated promptly. It was our first time here. Our server Zane surprised us with complimentary champagne for our celebration. Champagne was high quality, cold and bubbly. He gave us some great suggestions from the menu. He was very polite and professional. I recommend asking for him if you want great and attentive service. We ordered sourdough bread with butter and house made strawberry jam. It was served warm melted in butter. Very good. For starters, my husband ordered lobster bisque. He had huge chunks of lobster inside the soup and it was served piping hot. He said it was one of the best he's ever tasted. I ordered seafood gumbo. It was served hot and filled with meat. It was more like a gravy than gumbo, but it was flavorful. For our entree we both ordered the Parmesan crusted snapper with smoked mozzarella ravioli in a butter cream sauce. No salt or pepper needed. The flavor was amazing. It was hot and delicious. I was so happy that everything exceeded expectations. When I go to fine dining restaurants I want to get what I pay for. I want my food served hot, flavorful and delicious. And I want great service. I got everything I wanted and more. Zane also surprised us with a complimentary dessert called the knife and fork chocolate cookie ice cream dish. OMG, it was incredible. It was fantastic. My wife and I visited this restaurant this past week on a Friday at 5:00pm. We went earlier than our normal dinner time because we had plans after. It was easy to make a reservation and they seated us as soon as we stepped in the door. The positives: Very clean and classy Louisianan vibe and food. Extremely professional waiter and staff members Beautiful dinning area with dim lighting at dinner time The negatives: Food was bland and had off tastes. Steak sauce was sweet for some reason. The appetizer was not the freshest which is a bit concerning when eating raw meat. The food took forever to come out. Around 15 min for the appetizer while having no bread nothing on the table. The main course took 10 min after appetizers. The music was a bit too loud for casual talking volume. Honestly, I'd give this place 3.5/5 however I cannot so 3/5 it is. I hate to do this but the service here killed the review for me. The food was delish and I love the old style classy vibe this restaurant gives off, however, our waiter was very un attentive, rude and seemed eager to rush us out. I was taken back when I asked a simple question about removing onion from the mushroom appetizer and being cut off mid sentence and looked at very cut throat by our waiter and said "NO" immediately. I have to say a simple no without the attitude would have helped. Cool restaurant with a vintage New Orleans decor. There's a pretty big horseshoe bar in the middle of the restaurant that can unfortunately encroach upon tables that are set along the sides of the space. The steak frites are perfection and the rib eye was also very good. Thomas, our waiter was amazing, knowledgeable, and attentive. read more

I came here on a date and this place was popping. It was crowded but in a fun way. The bar constantly had people rotating and most tables were full. Definitely take out a reservation if you want to come here. This place has a magnificent New Orleans style that seems like out of a movie. My date and I got the crawfish beignets as an appetizer and then for my main I actually had the barbecue shrimp from the appetizers. It is plenty of food for a person's meal. It comes with rice and bread as well as 4 full sized shrimp in a beautiful sauce. My date got what Jack and Harry's is known for the steak and frites. It's been a while since I've found a great new restaurant. Today I had lunch at Jack & Harry's for the first time and it was awesome. It was lunch so I only ordered something light - the crab cake and salad but the crab cake was excellent with huge chunks of crab. The salad and dressing were first class and fresh, delicious ingredients and I'm a guy so I never notice those things. It also came with a whole avocado cut into quarters which I enjoyed. The decor of this restaurant is superb. Lots of brown leather, nice furnishings and decor. There is a classy looking bar along with a lot of seating in the dining area. Service was so welcoming and attentive. This place look to have a lot of steak options so I'll definitely be back for dinner another time to sample the meat. I only have two tips. The after dinner was too diluted, it looks like tea. And the restaurant is very loud so it was hard to hear each other clearly. Otherwise, this is an awesome steakhouse option in the Park Cities when you don't want to drive too far! read more

The ambiance in this place is great! Very well decorated and busy for a week night! Everything started out well, great and quick service. Appetizer of the oysters and our martini were all delivered quick and hot. Both were delicious. Our entrees were also great. The crust on the steak frites and the sauce on top was delicious. The steak frites were great with the exception that I had a long hair in my fries. I was enjoying the meal spectacularly until then. After that it seemed to go downhill. It took a long time for us to be able to order dessert. When we did they brought the wrong one so then we wait for the right dessert to be brought. The cheesecake tasted fantastic! Again, it took us a long time to get our bill and we were charged for that incorrect dessert that they brought out. Throughout the 2nd half night our water glasses were consistently low or empty. The food was great (with an exception) but the service felt lacking. I would return but would likely go somewhere else before I went back here again. read more
