    It's Our Anniversary
    Sharifa S.

Let me start by saying I'm a hermit. I work at home. I adore my husband and children and being cozy in our house. It takes a movement of God for me to dress up and go out because my everyday is lovely. That said, my husband declared that he'd made reservations at Neighborhood Services to celebrate our anniversary. "Okaaaayyy," I smiled, intrigued, and a bit nervous. Good food attracts us to a place; thoughtful and welcoming staff make us loyal. And this hermit is willing to crawl out of my happy little cottage again and again for Neighborhood Services. Rhea, the General Manager, greeted us at the door and welcomed us with a lovely "Happy Anniversary!" and led us to a cozy booth. I am pretty shy upon entering new places, but her presence was like a deep exhale. During the evening, Rhea offered spot-on wine pairings--like, they were ridiculously good and perfect complements--that truly elevated our meal. Next, our server, Mimo managed to be this hard-to-balance combination of attentive and subtle. We hardly needed a menu because of his cool expertise. He anticipated our needs and gave stellar recommendations with warmth and attention to what we liked, and yet he gave us plenty of room to just spend time on our date. Excellent service. We had an extra treat of being served some courses by Chef Davidson. I adored chatting with him as he shared the story behind a given dish, like the secret ingredient in the irresistible garlic bread (besides childhood nostalgia) or the decadent cheese included in the sumptuous Mac and cheese. Chef's explainers made each bite that much more delectable. Some food highlights for us: The oysters we devoured were fresh and slightly briny. If you enjoy raw oysters, you will love these. My husband (who does not choose veggies on a menu, ever) and I both enjoyed the crispy asparagus with dill sauce. I CANNOT get that buttery, salty good garlic bread off my mind. I cannot believe how obsessed I am about the bread. We enjoyed the Italian offerings of arancini and Caprese salad, too. And that garlic bread.... Hubby had the filet, which I stole a bite of. He smiled the whole way through it, and I can see why: it was tender, flavorful, toothsome. I had the haddock, which was gently flaky except around its brown-butter crisped edges. I wish there were more; it was delish. The mac and cheese was tangy and unctuous, and the Brussels sprouts (which my husband also enjoyed), smoky and meaty. At the end of our night, Jordan, the valet, was just as kind and celebratory (and quick) when we went to retrieve our car as everyone else we encountered. Our time at Neighborhood Services was well worth leaving the house for this happy hermit. We are so very thankful to everyone who made our anniversary date so special.

Pretty solid food! We had the large back room which was really spacious and had nice windows for light to get in. The food was pretty good--the steak and salmon were good, pasta was mid (per my friends who ordered it). Attentive servers, we had a great night with all the food! The fries were excellent. Parking is pretty easy with a small lot right in front, and validated garage next to it

I was here for a friend birthday dinner. All I am going to say is that it wasn't for me at all. Service was good. But yes this place wasn't for me

A view from the table. It was packed on a weekday night.

After deliberating our dining prospects one night, I offered to my better half that we try Neighborhood Services, a joint that's been around for well over a decade. For some reason, I'd never been there (or so I thought), and, that night, I was in the mood to wander off our beaten path of familiar chow houses. My better half assured me that we had indeed been there, some years previous. While I was sure she was right, I couldn't remember that visit. My ability to recall the faintest remembrance was akin to staring into a proverbial black hole. This fact made me a tad nervous...since my lapse in memory of a past event normally meant that I wasn't impressed with the outing and had decided to cross the encounter off the list for some reason. Before I could backtrack, she made the reservation and told me, in no uncertain terms, that we were going. But to be truthful, based on the fact that my memory had gone AWOL of that long ago visit, I wasn't expecting much. Our reservation at Neighborhood Services was for 7:30 pm on a mid-week night, and the joint was packed and noisy. Immediately, I mentally subtracted some points. Crowded and noisy isn't my cup of Oolong tea. But the hostess said she had a booth for us, which quickly caused me to cancel the previous subtraction. After being seated, our waiter was quick on the scene and snapped up our drink orders. Taking a look at the menu, it was decidedly American fare, but offered some twists and turns in what one might find in another restaurant that offers so-called American selections. For some reason, today's daily plate of meatloaf caught my attention. I usually recoil from any thought of ordering comfort foods or a traditional home-cooking style of dish. But, it did push me towards my ultimate pick of chicken piccata, preceded by a simple salad of greens. While I'm no fan of eating in noisy and crowded restaurants, the food rose above my small discomfort. For some reason, the simple, but tasty dish of chicken piccata left an indelible mark in my memory. I have no idea why my memory of my first visit to Neighborhood Services went missing. Maybe it was a longer than expected wait. Perhaps it was due to some fellow diners who had a bit too much too drink. But this trip has been firmly placed in the memory banks.

I've been here three times now and have enjoyed each visit. The specials are always amazing and the service is consistently good.

Neighborhood Services is wildly popular in the Dallas area. They're a part of a restaurant group that includes Montlake Cut and Town Hearth. This is my least favorite of the group by a large margin. Don't get me wrong, nothing is bad. .. just not what I was expecting considering the reputation. The "CFS" or Country Fried Steak is one of their signature dishes. It's made with wagyu beef. I can't say my pallet was sophisticated enough to discern the difference. I found it to be a little greasy, yet dry. .. could've used a bit more seasoning too. The Crispy Shrimp were pretty good, but standard. The hand pie was exceptional. I'd go back just for dessert. Service could've been more attentive, though not rude. I'd revisit if someone really wanted to go. I'd stick to appetizers, cocktails, and desserts though.

    The salmon was outstanding!

I was in town visiting friends who highly recommended dinner here. We had another friend from out of town visiting as well and we decided to try it. We were greeted well and seated at a very comfortable big booth. Our traditional drink of choice is an old fashioned and we were very happy to get a high quality one here. The service was fantastic and our server was knowledgeable, helpful, fun and witty. I ordered the salmon and I have to say it was incredible! The outside had a light crusting and the inside was delicious and moist.

I highly recommend checking this place out! The ambience, service, and food all around was wonderful. We ordered the crap dip, pork chop, steak frites, Brussels sprouts, as well as the fish and chips. Every single dish was great!

Thumbs up: 1. The tempura asparagus is awesome. Never had it like this before and it is so tasty. I could eat three plates of this. 2. Love the pizza. This was unexpected because this is not a "pizza place". But it was just the right amount of flavor, light chewiness, airiness in the dough, and tasty blend of toppings. 3. The fried shrimp are good. Batter is good and not overwhelming. 4. Brussels sprouts are good. A little too toasty but still in the good range, and very tasty. 5. Server was very friendly and enthusiastic. Thumbs down: 1. The chips and crab dip sounds good but it is kind of meh. I don't taste the crab that much and the overall flavor is bland. It's not bad, but for the price I expected more. 2. While the scallops are good and on par for what I expected, the rest of the entree seemed like decoration and was not very filling for a main dish. 3. My friend who loves the original location insists the beef entrees are not the same and not as good at this location.

' London Broil ' Steak Frites - SO good!

Neighborhood services is such a fun spot! Nice enough for a celebration or special night out, but chill enough for a weeknight date night as well. A rare find, in my opinion. My wife and I hadn't been since before COVID, but really enjoyed our experience. Our waiter was so fun and the food was top notch! We really enjoyed it and look forward to going back!

This is one of those unique places that makes you want to come back again and again Comfortable and attractive bar area with a wife variety of foods on the menu Started with the wedge salads all around, my entree was the Schnitzel (top notch), one friend had the scalp OP ps, another the fish and chips and the final had the delmonico Excellent service, not a one entree plate had a fragment of food left on it and no room was unfortunately left for dessert :( In particular the schnitzel served over toasted spaetzle with a large portion of salad greens is enough to feed 2! Cant wait to visit again

This had a lot more flavor than what we expected and the homemade chips made it the perfect appetizer. 10/10 Rainbow Sushi Roll - this was also great. The roll tasted fresh, but it is on the spicer side so don't order unless you can handle some heat. 9/10 ***Entrees:*** I got the Beverly salad and subbed my shrimp for seared ahi. According to our waitress, she said the receipt would reflect the Seared Tuna salad since there is an upcharge for the substitution but the food came out just like I ordered. My salad was fresh, bright and didn't leave me feeling heavy. 10/10 My cousin ordered the Maple Salmon. I believe the waitress said they now use gochujang sauce instead of maple. My cousin really enjoyed her meal and said she would definitely order it again. 10/10 The bachelorette ordered the steak frites, she ordered it to be cooked medium but it came out a bit more rare than she preferred. She still ate it as is and said it was tender and flavorful. 9/10 Lastly we ordered the lobster mac, this was sooooo good! The mac was runnier than I would like but the taste made up for it. I would order it again. 9.5/10

Features a compact bar with only 2 screens, which again is preferential versus something loaded to the gills with cheap TCL displays. Menu is simple and direct, with all of what you might expect from an upscale neighborhood bar & grill. The tuna tartare is excellent, but it's more of a dip almost than a traditional imagining. It has jalapeno, heaps of cilantro, and muddled avocado to tie it all together. Very fresh and pleasant. Pastrami sliders were also tasty, but I would venture to say they are a little too bready for an appetizer, but nicely done otherwise. My go to entree is of course either the hanger steak or filet with fries and semi traditional bistro sauce, can't go wrong there. I have only seen 2 deserts on the menu, but there might be some special appearances from time to time. The do not miss item there is the Basque cheesecake. Which is basically a cheese forwards cheesecake without a crust, and somewhat reduced sugar content versus it's American cousins. Very good, and served with a berry coulis. The only trespass I experienced was with the wine list. It's overall somewhat expensive for what's listed, and on my last visit two bottles I had ordered were out of stock. That being said there are good picks here from Premier Cru Chablis to Faust Cabernet Sauvignon.

I don't remember why, so I figured it was time to see what AT Bistro was like. I booked a table for 2 on Resy. The parking is really easy. It's located in Preston Center which has easy access covered parking. One of the great things about AT Bistro was it was not loud. While there were some other patrons, I was happy that my husband and I could hear one another at the table. We looked over the menu and decided on the Buttermilk Cornbread. It's described as a cross between cornbread and angel food cake. I totally agree. It was light, fluffy, yet still had that cornbread bite. It had a nice scoop of chili honey butter in the middle which was so delicious! This was a very satisfying appetizer. For an entree I had the crab cake with a citrus burre blanc sauce. This was very good and really hit the spot. The crabmeat to stuffing ratio was great and very flavorful. The only thing I would've like to have was a little bit of greens on the plate to give a bit of roughage to the meal. Last, I finished out with the house made Pina Colada sorbet. It was good, not stellar, but still a tasty desert. The atmosphere was sophisticated without being pretentious and the service was very attentive without being smothering. These are real pros! Overall, my experience at AT Bistro was very good and I'll definitely be back. It's going into the rotation and I look forward to trying other dishes here.

Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.
