Stopped by for dinner for first time in awhile. Local/farm-to-table ish with emphasis on BBQ and smoked protein options. We had smoked BBQ chicken with beans and butternut squash mash. BBQ Pulled beef sandwich. Kids split a pizza. Local/house made beers on tap. House made maple root beer. They tend to have a fairly streamlined selection of sides. Interior is comfy. There was a smidge of smoke from the kitchen area that is out in the open...but not that big a deal. Glad we have this place! read more

Fantastic spot! Referred here by a buddy, who raves about the place. The hostess recommended the 10" make-your-own-pizza for $14, which I got with pepperoni, ground beef, onion, mushrooms and garlic. I got the pizza in 10 minutes and it was delicious! read more

Finally was able to check out the Maple Grille after hearing so many of family and friends rave about it. Love that they offer a daily menu and you can see your food being cooked in front of you. Ordered the wood fired pizza, while my cousin ordered a burger and my dad ordered the BBQ sandwich. Portions are plenty and love that the provide a mixed green salad to accompany your meal. Can't go wrong with the cornbread they bring to your table at the start of the meal- yum! I will definitely come back and check out the home brews next time! read more

Was happy to find a place that cooks with local in-season ingredients. I ordered mine to go but looked like a nice cozy place to eat. It was my first time so I wasn't sure what to expect. I asked for a recommendation and was told that the Smoked Meatloaf was really good. I don't typically order meatloaf but was intrigued to find out what smoked meatloaf really was. The sides for the day were mashed butternut squash and smoked potatoes with sour cream. They also gave me a piece of cornbread with a little maple syrup. I really loved the mashed butternut squash and cornbread with syrup. I wasn't a big fan of the smoked meatloaf but it may just be a matter of preference and not knowing what to expect. I was envisioning something more like traditional meatloaf. That said, I would definitely go back to try some of the other menu options that people have raved about. read more

My second visit here. The food is delicious and cooked right in front of you. I ordered the grilled duck. It was grilled to perfection with salad and baked beans. Other family members ordered the pizza, burgers and soup. The restaurant is very neat and clean. The men's restroom has a baby changing station. There is also outside seating for guest who bring their dogs or animals. Only Kraft beer Is served. Drinks are in the cooler close to the counter. You order at the counter, the staff member gives you a table number to place on your table. Your food is delivered to your table when it's ready. Note there is no ice on the premises. You may bring your own. Overall our visit was fabulous and relaxing. Visit sometime for a great dining experience. read more

I have heard rumblings about this place here and there but it doesn't come up often in conversation. I don't understand why. This place is awesome, the biggest problem that you are going to have is the fact that you go home smelling like you sat in front of a campfire. While a bit off of the beaten path, it's still a straight shot out of town right on 46. The outside is a little unassuming but once you walk in, you know that you aren't in a normal restaurant. You walk into what looks like a vintage shop but it smells like the campfire I mentioned earlier. There are cabinets filled with mug club mugs and trinkets for sale. You get in line and place your order. You can opt for a Faygo from the fridge or have them pour you one of the beers on tap. They then give you a number and you find a seat. Everything that they can cook over their wood fired grill, they will. We found our corner and while waiting, a runner brought us cornbread with a drizzle of maple syrup. There was just enough fluff to make sure that the bread wasn't dense, but not so fluffy that you forgot that you were eating cornbread. We both got a beer. He sprang for a lager, and I the nutty brown. They weren't life changing but they were good. I HIGHLY suggest getting the flight. $6 for 5 samples. How can one go wrong with that? We decided to split the pastrami sandwich since we weren't too hungry. The waitress who brought it to us gladly offered a knife and extra place when she realized we were splitting the entrée. I have to say, they really don't oversell themselves. It came out with beautiful swirled rye bread and the mustard on the side. The mustard honestly reminds me of apple butter but I'm not sure why. The meat was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I grabbed a piece that had fallen off the sandwich and ate that first. It still had a little sliver on the fat on the outside that had not only rendered down but had that ever sought for crispy charred ends. You just cant get that unless there is actual fire involved. This place reeks with the small town feel and the staff uphold that. I'd comeback to this place in a heartbeat. read more

You need to get yourself here ASAP. Awesome little brewery with farm to table food and a wood oven. Had the best asparagus ever and amazing pulled pork. The baked beans were a little "firmer" than any I have had before, but still tasted great. They also bring a little cornbread stick with maple syrup as a starter and it was lovely - crunchy and golden and not too sweet. The only area where I could see any improvement needed is a friendlier greeting with quicker instruction on what to do (maybe a sign would help?) You have to order at the counter but they do bring the food to your table. This wasn't really clear and we were a little blinded when coming into a dark restaurant after a dazzlingly bright day outside, so we were pretty disoriented when we walked in (in addition to not knowing the order protocol.) Also, if you are not drinking one of their beverages, you have to get a drink from the cooler, so keep that in mind as you order your food. read more

We saw all the great reviews and decided to stop on our way to Saginaw to try a family owned restaurant. We would stop again. My husband really liked the Peanut Butter porter he tried. My maple apple cider was very good also. Great food and good portion sizes. We were confused when we first arrived because there was a line. We were told by people in front of us that you ordered at counter and then sat down. The only complaint was there was a girl that seemed to check on tables except ours. We had given 20+% percent at counter so weren't sure why. read more

My wife and I eat here once a month on the regular, but this weekend's meals left plenut to be desired. I had the pastrami and swiss which was underwhelming for the price (14) since most of the pastrami was fat to the point it looked more like bacon. My wife had the trout which was again underwhelming given the portion since versus price point (18). What started off the poor quality meal was the trout dip appetizer which was full of large chunks of cream cheese, I mean like 1/2 teaspoon sized which was just a bit much given it was supposed to be a trout dip not cheese chunks. We are hoping this is a one-off, but will be taking a couple months break before trying there again. read more

So many good things about Maple Grille! The menu changes based on what's in season so it seems like there's always something new to try. And the food is always delicious. Wood-fired pizzas, smoked meats, fresh salads with homemade dressings, juicy burgers, grilled vegetables, mouth-watering desserts, and a simple kid's menu that satisfies picky eaters (Pancakes for dinner? Win.) We've been here with groups of two to ten and we like the relaxed atmosphere, good service, great food, and of course, the craft beer. read more

TMG has interesting (and fresh) food choices, a decent craft beer selection on tap and a casual, industrial vibe all done up in a maple-smoke infused restaurant. Everything appeared to be cooked over wood fires and we had a variety of dishes - pulled pork, lamb burgers and pizzas. Everything was tasty although the sides left me a little puzzled (Swiss chard/onion and green beans/wax beans). They were a bit odd when coupled with our main dishes but I suppose that those were fresh for the day (so that is what got served). Service staff was very friendly and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves - I liked that as it made me feel good that they felt good. If TMG was in a major urban area, it would probably struggle to compete. But in it's current location, it is a diamond in the rough of mid-MI. It's probably not worth a big drive to eat here but if you're in the area or passing through, it's definitely worth a stop. read more

Not much appealed to me on May 18 visit, but had heard ravings on the burger. I Had the MG burger w/ extra pickles. Burger was over cooked, tasteless. I think there might have been a special maple sauce on one side but it had soaked into the bun which was a soggy mess. Pls ask customers how they want their burger cooked. Extra pickles I did get, and while they are sliced very thin, the outside skin is tough. Hoping they switch pickle brand. Potato salad was good, a bit heavy on the sauce, I had to add a ton of pepper. Asparagus was grilled perfectly! I would order more. I had the rhubarb ale. Smooth, a bit sweet, with a crisp finish. I would order again and try a flight so I could sample their other beer. Not in a rush to go back. Maybe it was an off night for me and their food options. read more

We weren't sure when we pulled up, but this place is definitely worth a stop. The good smells let you know you're in for a treat. They have a great selection of smoked foods and drinks on tap. You order from the board and pay for your meal before you sit down. The sides are yummy and change daily. The mandolin cornbread with maple syrup was very good. Hands down my favorite restaurant in the tri-cities area. This is farm to table food at an extremely reasonable price. Dinner for two with two drinks and you can get out for around $40. They have a revolving menu with some staples that they seem to have every time I go. They have variety and something for everyone with some unique sides outside of the norm. I had been hearing rave reviews of the Maple Grille for a few years before making it out for lunch. Almost all of the fans telling me to go are omnivores, so I was hesitant to give it a try, but I am glad I did and hope to return soon. The place smells of amazing wood, is laid back and the staff was very helpful. Everyone in my party had the vegetable burger. It was fantastic! The wonderful wood taste comes through in the food and the apple ale I enjoyed could quickly become my favorite drink of choice...if I lived closer. This place is really neat. It's a big pole barn with open seating and they're cooking in the same area. You order at the counter and they bring it too you. When we got there the line was out the door so we knew it had to be good; it was. Some tables are big enough to share so if you don't mind sitting with strangers, you'll have a nice time. The portions are decent and they change the menu regularly. If they have pulled pork or stone oven pizza on the menu I would highly recommend getting one or both.
