You can't tell from this photo, but this wrap sandwich is huge!

After eating here, my husband asked me on the car-ride home: How many stars? I quickly answered without much thought: 4 stars. He responded: Why not 5? ...Good question. Why NOT 5? I did not have a good answer, so 5 it is. Dead Creek checks all the boxes for a quaint dive bar. It's located in what appears to have once been a home and consists of one main dining area and bar with view into the kitchen. The bar is decorated with signed dollar bills and old bumper stickers. Toward the back, there are dart boards. Keno and televisions tuned to sports are scattered throughout. Don't let the description as a "dive" mislead you, I found Dead Creek (including the bathroom) to be very clean. The portions were huge especially for the low prices! The food was super delicious and as I could spy into the kitchen from my barstool, it looked freshly prepared. The day of our visit, a single bartender took care of the entire dining room and I think that the kitchen was a 1-woman-show as well. Although it was quite busy for a midweek lunch, we never had to wait long for service or our meal. Overall, Dead Creek is the type of place that I would love to be considered a regular. Due to the distance from my home, sadly, I never will be. BUT, I will definitely stop in every chance that I get!

Saturday afternoon stop in. Sat at the bar. Here's what we liked: * Burgers we're good- cooked right, moist and good flavor.. * Friendly service. * Drink prices were reasonable What could be better: * Appetizer of mushrooms were lukewarm- and basic store bought. * French fries were coated, my opinion only but a fry is amazing don't add stuff. Not a great visit, but not bad. Just ok

Stopped in for lunch and it was pretty dead. We ordered the cheese ball appetizer, chicken salad, and the classic DC burger. Had to pay $2.99 upcharge for a side salad instead of fries. I am obsessed with cheese curds and it's surprisingly hard to find them in Southeast Michigan, so I was excited to find the cheese balls on the menu. The balls definitely weren't what I was expecting. Rather than a gooey cheesy center, it was completely melted cheese inside. It was also pepper jack or some type of spicy cheese rather than just your standard white cheese. It was served with ranch; I think marinara would have been better. Overall, the cheese balls were okay, but disappointing compared to what I was hoping for. The burger was a standard burger. Patty, cheese, tomato, onion, and pickles. No complaints here. Side salad was also good. The ranch dressing is very good and tastes homemade. I did not try the entree chicken salad, but my boyfriend said it was good and he ate most of it. It was a nice, large portion of salad. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. They have a small portion of the menu that's only available on weekends, which we were a little disappointed about cuz some of the items sounded really good. For an appetizer, two meals, a salad upcharge, and drinks it only came out to about $30. Definitely worth it. I would eat here again.

We showed up at 6:30 PM on a Sunday. There were about 3 tables eating when we walked in. It took a good 15 minutes to be greeted which we understand, (It seems to be the going thing now). So we ordered our drinks & drinks came out pretty quickly. We ordered our food and we were there at least a good 1:15 By the time the food came out. I had ordered a Texas burger, no cheese and halfway through eating my burger, I realized they had put cheese on it, scraped it off and then flipped the burger patty upside down so I wouldn't notice. Fortunately, I just choose not to eat cheese because I get really sick if I eat it so I don't think this is going to bother me too much. We'll see. But I can't imagine if somebody has an allergy to cheese how they would've reacted to finding this. Everybody else in my party seemed to have enjoyed their food, but at this point we were all starving so we made the most of it. I did feel bad for our waitress, who seemed to be the only person serving tables in the entire restaurant.

Visiting from out of state, and with so many restaurants to choose from, I was thrilled to find a place with Prime Rib. We found Dead Creek to be a place a lot of locals frequent and walked into a very busy, friendly bar/restaurant. I ordered the prime rib which gave me a choice of soup or salad and I opted for the seafood chowder. Hubby went with a grilled cheese sandwich (one of his favs) and bowl of chili. My soup came out first and while it had seafood flavor, it was the saltiest soup I'd ever tried to eat. I did my best to eat it and was able to get through a third of it before I just couldn't put another spoonful in my mouth. There was a long wait before the rest of our food arrived and hubby's grilled cheese was cold and hard but he really liked the chili quite well. He said the chili made the cold grilled cheese a non-issue. As for my prime rib, it also seemed well-seasoned. As for the mixed veggies, they were sooooo salty to the point of being inedible. I ate the prime rib and we called it an evening. I probably wouldn't return.

We came here to eat to get a bit out of Frankenmuth cause everything downtown was crazy for the Frankenmuth Dog Bowl. The food was good I had the Texas Steak Sandwich which hit the spot cause I was starving. Nice laid back atmosphere and all the waitresses were very nice and helpful. Would come back to eat hear again next time we are in town if we weren't going to get the chicken dinner in town.

MONDAY NIGHT SPECIAL! (Included salad, garlic toast, meaty sauce, soft drink, tax and tip, for around $10!!!)

The bar was quiet, calm, dark and cold but seemed like a chill vibe. Our waitress was okay, service was quick and she did her job well but didn't smile and wasn't very talkative or seemingly friendly. We asked what her favorite appetizers were and we ordered the Loaded Potato Balls based on her recommendation - they were great! 10/10! Loaded with flavor, very moist and served with 3 sauces - ranch, spicy ranch and sour cream. The ranch and spicy ranch were not great - tastes like they're bottled not homemade. The sour cream though, that was a good compliment. We both ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich - 10/10! They're hand breaded, juicy and tender chicken breasts topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo on a perfectly warm brioche bun. Our meal was served so hot, it was perfect. I would absolutely go back just for this sandwich! The homemade chips for the side were great, crispy and lightly seasoned. I had the tater tots with mine and they tasted freezer burnt, wouldn't get them again. We also had a side of their house made coleslaw and it was perfect, ice cold and a great balance of flavor. Draft beer wasn't super cold - it would be better served in a frosted glass. Overall- it's good, we'd come again! Next time we'd sit at the bar top as the bartenders seemed to enjoy more casual conversation and friendly vibes with their customers.

Very clean inside with friendly service and a tap beer selection that's basic but probably has something to suit most folks. I went for the Stone IPA. I ordered a turkey reuben. The sandwich was a little light on meat and a little heavy on some too--creamy coleslaw. The bread stayed crisp at least, and wasn't overly greasy. The positive was the staff the Bartender/Waiter was very sweet and nice tried to make everything just right. The restaurant itself is very clean and I bet the outside is amazing during warmer months. This was Veterans Day weekend and they did get quite busy so the time it took to get our food was very long but I had good company so it was fine. However the food was just lacking it looked quite appetizing but just lacked any flavor. The olive burger was very bland and my burger was dry and charred, my sister had a Reuben and although I do consider her a Reuben snob, she is picky, but I agreed with her the meat was very dry. My husband had the Rodeo burger which he enjoyed but said it wasn't worth the price. We visit this area all the time since I have family there, but I'm not sure I would give this place another shot if given the chance.

The Dunkel wasn't as good as the mass-produced version I had earlier in the day. The other type was fruity was got sickening as it was too sweet. Still better than the standard American beer people drink but not good for this type of brewery. The Christmas Town Pretzel was okay. I prefer a standard pretzel, but others enjoyed it. The mustard was very good and the cheese wasn't bad. The Big Dipper was average. The shaved prime rib was rather dry, so the au jus came in handy.
