Salad was honestly good and very flavorful. Highlight is the maple glazed salmon. That is really unique and tasty. Great funny service. Good quiet spot to be for lunch and dinner.
We have eaten at this restaurant twice in the last three years. We were there in June and we ended up sitting in the same area, same seats as three years ago. It really is one of the nicest restaurants in Banff located downtown near all the shops. There's parking at the Nestor's market. You now have to pay, but it's a quick walk through the alleyway to get to The Maple Leaf restaurant. We recommend this restaurant highly for its service and food and ambience. Even the background music was magnificent. All of our meals were very tasty. Perfectly served with just the right amount on our plate. I had the pasta which was delicious. My husband had the ribs, which was delicious and the sides were perfect. The bar is nearby, and the drinks come fast. The dessert was delicious, we recommend this superb restaurant. The waitstaff are friendly and the hostess was amicable as you entered.
My husband and I arrived shortly after they opened for the day. We chose to sit inside and enjoyed some super comfortable lounge chairs. The service was great and the food and beverages were awesome! This was our best meal out on a week long trip. We will return when in the area again.
We made reservations in advance which I would recommend as it was quite busy. We were seated upstairs immediately upon arriving. The window tables are the place to be. We didn't get one of those but still a nice area. I chose the salmon and shrimp for my meal. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The salmon was cooked with a nice sear. For some reason my shrimp were a bit smaller than those on my husband's surf and turf. Overall, my meal was quite good. Husband had the filet and it wasn't quite as tender as he was hoping. I liked that it was not ala carte and your entree came with a potato and veggie. Service was good. We walked from our hotel so no need to worry about parking. We enjoyed our dinner.
Five stars. The Maple Leaf is an absolute gem in the heart of Banff. The food is exceptional, with a true taste of Canadian cuisine that feels both elevated and comforting. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale, with stunning mountain views that add to the overall experience. Prices are on the higher side, but absolutely worth it for the quality, ambiance, and memorable dining experience. Highly recommend for a special night out in Banff.
The Maple Leaf was a great place to come for brunch. Our waitress was really sweet and gave us the time we needed for our group of 6. We ordered the crab gratin for the table and it was a great starter. Definitely a good amount of crab in the dip. And the pitas were very tasty. 8/10 For my brunch item, I ordered the Canadian bacon Benedict. This was just alright. The egg was perfectly cooked, but the Canadian bacon didn't have much flavor. It was a huge portion with a ton of well-seasoned potatoes. 7/10 My friends ordered their specialty salmon Benedict and I tried a bite, that is definitely the best dish to get! It was very flavorful. A truly great bite. 8.5/10 maybe 9/10 For drinks, I ordered the passion fruit mimosa and the Bloody Mary. The passion fruit mimosa was really good, everything you want in a mimosa. The Bloody Mary was pretty mediocre. It tasted more like just tomato juice. But my friend ordered their specialty drink with the rosemary sprig and that was absolutely delicious! We sat in the room with the fireplace and the stuffed moose head which was really fun. It was a cozy ambiance. It was a nice casual stop.
This was a great stop for lunch. They serve a lot of Canadian sourced ingredients. We had the crab dip and the maple salmon. Both were delicious. The restaurant staff were so inviting and friendly. I loved the Canadiana decor. As a Canadian, it's got my stamp of approval as a place you should definitely stop at while in Banff. Cheers!
Had a wonderful xmas brunch! The atmosphere was very calm and cozy. Our waitress was nice and helped us with planning our day. Food was delicious! As someone who likes a big breakfast, the banana toffee French toast was not enough for a meal and I had to eat off my partner's plate. I did enjoy the banana chips on it as it gave more crunch to the meal. They have a casual seating area on the main floor and more upstairs on the 2nd floor. The stairs are well maintained with sturdy handrails. We were sat on the 2nd floor by the window where you can see the main road.
I didn't notice until my friend pointed it out but all of the Asian people in the restaurant were seated in the same little corner. We sat down, my friend pointed it out, and I kept thinking it was a coincidence but then several white parties were sat upstairs into the nice dining area and the next Asian group that came in were put into our row. I kept watching them in the corner and the waiters would avoid looking at the group in the corner trying to order. Like I think I saw 5 waiters pass by within 10 minutes going to the party room and completely breeze by the Asian family in the corner when I know they saw them in their peripheral. I don't think it's a coincidence because we were also put with the only Asian waiter working the floor. She was great! Horrible coincidence if it is.... The food maple salmon was super good! I loved the mashed potatoes and the sauce all blended together perfectly. The bison shortribs and dip were okay although the pita that came with the dip was super good, soft and had a nice chew.
Came here for dinner on a reservation. We were seated on the 2nd floor with a nice view of the town. Service overall is very good. They offered good recommendations, which we mainly relied on. Overall the food was fantastic and it was a terrific experience for a relaxing vacation dinner with family. I got to try two different drinks. I don't recall the Spicy Lychee Margarita ($18) having a kick, but the lychee flavoring was a nice blend with the margarita. And because we're in O Canada... they of course made their Old Fashioned ($18) maple flavored. Still a good drink with the maple sweetness to it. For appetizers, we ordered the Cast Iron Crab Gratin Dip ($28) which is made of Atlantic Crab, artichoke, and mozzarella. This was soo good that we ended up ordering extra pita, which was a $1 extra. Well worth it. We also got the Wine Country Salad ($18) because you always need a green dish. For entrees, we got the Signature Maple Salmon & Prawns ($49). Only two pieces of prawn as you can see in the photo (sad), but it also comes with mashed potato and seasonal vegetables, which happens to be asparagus when we went. They use a maple dijon glaze, which makes a nice gravy with the mashed potato. If you're willing to splurge, I'd recommend getting the 18oz Alberta Cowboy Steak ($85) for the table. This also comes with mashed potato and seasonal vegetables (asparagus during my visit). That "Cowboy Butter" they put on top enhances the flavoring. I wasn't a fan of the red wine demi that's luckily comes on the side.
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambience 10/10 I will highly recommend this place. Drinks i love the most was the lychee margarita! We order the new york striploin pperfect! Chicken wings is ok kinda on a sweet side, the soup is ok not my type but my friends love it.
After our hike at Lake Louise/Moraine Lake, we were famished and were looking for something to eat. We landed here and didn't have any reservations. However, the hostess was able to fit us in right away and we sat upstairs. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a mountain lodge feel to it. For the most part, the food here was pretty good, though the pork chop I ordered was overcooked and dry. When it was put in front of me, I tried to cut in to it and felt how tough it was. After taking a bite, it was confirmed that the pork chop was overcooked. I then asked the server how they cook their pork chops here and she said medium. I then let her know that it was overcooked and she promptly took it back and got a new one made for me. The food does take a while and it would have been nice if they provided bread or something to munch on while waiting. The second time around, the pork chop was cooked correctly. Our server was fantastic and she kept on checking in on us and her other tables. For a place of this caliber, I was disappointed that they messed up my pork chop. But there's a first time for everything. After all this, I still recommend coming here. I would make reservations though.
We tried walking in on a Thursday at 2:30pm with no reservation and they said it would be a 30min wait. We decided to go somewhere else and came back on the next day (Friday) at around 3pm and was seated right away. I think they were changing for dinner (the restaurant closes at 4pm and reopens for dinner at 5pm) because the service was pretty spotty. You could see that the waiters were busy preparing for dinner, so our own waiter wasn't very attentive (took forever to bring us water and take our order and we had to ask for water refills). Food was okay - I wasn't that impressed for the price of it. We ordered the Asiago crab dip for an appetizer, which was really good. For our entrees, we got the fish tacos (pretty good, would recommend), spaghetti and wagyu meatballs (the meatballs were huge but extremely dry), and the Alberta bison burger (meat also pretty dry, but pretty big and good) with cream of mushroom soup (very mushroomy...would go with fries next time if I had the chance). read more
Decent spot for lunch. Lovely inside wood and warm with leather furniture made it feel all cozy. Great spot after skiing or hiking. Service was really slow without much apology. Really good wine and drink menu. I was the only one that chose a beer, but my beer form Medicine Hat was lovely. Food was decent. My friends all had some sort of version of either a burger or sandwich. I chose the sticky duck wings with maple and jalapeno with a side a fries. Our food took a long time coming...and when it did my fries and my friends were stone cold. Perhaps they were waiting in the kitchen too long. When I pointed out that they were not edible, we received new fries with an apology. Everyone seemed to find their food agreeable. My duck wings were actually excellent. Flavourful...not too sweet with just a slight touch of heat...and they were a really hearty portion. This wouldn't be a restaurant I would run to in Banff, but if you want to sit and enjoy a drink in a lovely cozy spot for sure give it a whirl. read more

The interior of this business is really beautiful, decorated pretty Canadian & cabin-like feel. Our server and all of the wait staff were very attentive to us which was nice. It seemed as though multiple members of the staff help with the tables which was nice as it's not all on the one server they had working. The eggs Benedict was great, I enjoyed their hollandaise sauce. My partner had the short rib hash and it was tasty as well, and a pretty large portion. He said the pesto really brought the dish together. read more

Restaurants in Banff are really popular. Remember to make reservation in advance. We came here after we had hiking in Johnston Canyon. So we want to have something good. We ordered seafood tower and Surf & Turf. Seafood was really fresh, especially oysters. It was really impressive in mountain area. Surf & Turf was okay, New York strip was a bit dry, but lobster tasted delicious and sweet. Would recommend the restaurant if you want to have some nice meal in Banff. read more

So my friend recommended me to go eat dinner in maple leaf, I like the place I like vibes. The server was nice and food come pretty fast, No the best quality for the pricing. My stake was cold and when I asked to heat it up the plate came hot as well (microwave). But besides the stake I have a bison ribs that was awesome and the shrimp wasn't crispy enough. I like the place but won't come back again. read more
We were there for brunch and even though it was passed 1 pm, they were still able to accommodate us with the breakfast items! Decor is really nice, rustic and friendly. Their soup of the day ( roasted pepper) smelled so amazing but it didn't deliver unfortunately. The avocado toast was really delicious. The aioli was very tasty and was a great addition to the toast. This is a lovely, cosy and warm restaurant. I went with a group of seven to celebrate our friend's birthday. The place is a rich brown like the colour of maple syrup. They used a lot of wood and black cast iron along with taxidermied animals, canoes, skis, a log wall and white lights on a tree. It felt like a log cabin in the mountains. We were seated upstairs and a very warm part of the restaurant. The hostess, waiter and servers were all attentive and pleasent. They filled water, wine and asked if any refills on cocktails or soda were needed in a good duration between each drink. They do offer a kids menu and colouring. Our table ordered many appitizers, entrees, drinks and dessert. To start the group had mussels, beef carpaccio and cast iron seared scallops. I did not share in this but my friends were raving about it. For entrees my son ordered the cheeseburger and fries. I had the Mediterranean Gnocchi and sauteed mushrooms. The rest of the group had; spaghetti and waygu meatballs, beef tenderloin and french onion soup. My meal of gnocchi was amazing. It was coated in almond arugula pesto along with eggplant, spinach and cherry tomatoes. It was so flavourful and filling. I ordered a side of mushrooms and added them to the dish. My son loved the fries but was a bit fussy over the burger not being like McDonald's. That's made me laugh. I also had a Wildlife Gin and Tonic. The Wildlife Gin was from Canmore and was delicious. A bit on the pine flavour side. Dessert was souffle and ice cream for the birthday girl. We all had a relaxing time and left feeling full and happy. I only want to say a few words. I ordered the gnocchi, which was served with a delicious vegetable medley. The pasta itself was nice and pillowy, with a slightly crunchy pan-fried outside. But, the star of the meal was the chocolate soufflé!! It had a wonderful hot liquid chocolate center, crispy top, and soft cake-y inside. I would eat that every day. read more

In my opinion, this is one of Banff's most authentic dining experiences for tourists and travellers. I feel as if the atmosphere appropriately represents its rugged, adventurous surroundings with a tastefully decorated interior encompassing the spirit of Alberta. The staff are welcoming and polite, the menu is extensive and reasonably priced considering its location, the bathrooms are clean and easily accessible and the seating is exceptionally comfortable and luxurious. My family and I started by ordering a drink each, while waiting for our food to be prepared. Admittedly the food took an exceptionally long time to reach our table, however without being prompted, our waiter applied a extremely generous discount to our bill to apologize for the minor inconvenience. This left us feeling very well taken care of by this establishment's courteous staff members. Not surprisingly our food was excellent when it arrived and was undoubtedly worth the wait. I would strongly suggest any sceptical visitor to enjoy this restaurant before leaving Banff. read more

Must go if you want a unique menu with some great service. Food was absolutely amazing, service was great. As soon as we walked in we were seated in a very comfortable area, with comfy seats and an great view. Food came out quick and it was delicious. Def recommend. read more

Absolutely surprised and disappointed with our meals. Started off with the Caprese Salad and you basically can't screw that up. Our mains were the Gnocchi and Rack of Lamb. Gnocchi smelled delicious, looked decent but it was flavorless. Super surprised it had no taste. Disappointing. Rack of Lamb was medium rare but not seasoned enough. It came with two bone in pieces and the second piece was unable to cut through. Didn't even matter because it was flavorless. Our server was attentive and nice, she deserves a better restaurant. Overall do not come here. We wasted 90 bucks on 2 entrees and a sub par appetizer. I cannot stress this enough, this is a bad restaurant and not worth your money. read more
So we wandered Banff looking for a place for a late lunch early supper. So glad we did. The calamari was great, even if it was small. So we ordered 2. My Cesar was great, spicy with asparagus and some meat. The house white and red wines were both fairly good to. I had the wild game burger it was spectacular. Elk and bison, awesome! The chicken burger while smaller was also very good! The service was friendly and the whole place is very nice. Well laid out and decorated, not tacky. Stop in for sure! read more

While meandering through Banff downtown, we came across Maple Leaf and learning that they have a happy hour from 3-5pm, we decided to go inside to get a drink. Got seated by a bar and asked the bar tender to recommend a cocktail that is on the sweeter side. He did and made a fabulous one for me! We didn't stay for dinner, but would love to, another time. read more

I had such high hopes for this place but was faced with disappointment. The service was alright, the place was clean, but the food was just... bad. I started the meal with a cocktail, it was some sort of apple martini. It came to me with a stick of cinnamon inside the drink, but nowhere on the drink menu did it mention that. I don't like cinnamon in my alcoholic beverage so I sent it back and exchanged for a maple old fashioned. The drink was prepared with small ice cubes (rather than the one big hunk of ice as seen in nice bars), this leads to the drink being diluted down very quickly as the ice melts. We got the cast iron scallop with pork belly as appetizer. The (2) scallops were good, although one of them was significantly smaller than the other. The pork belly, however, is literally a chunk of fat. There were absolutely no meat - only the skin and the fat. I got the special of the day, which was a seafood (red sauce) pasta. The seafood selection was good - mussels, prawns, crab legs, and fish. However, none of the ingredients were done nicely. The mussels were small, the prawns and fish were overcooked, the crab legs were impossible to eat in a civilized manner and there weren't enough meat under the shell. The pasta itself was fine, and the sauce was acceptable, albeit rather salty. In retrospect I should've complained about the "special of the day" and got some non special item off the menu. My husband got the bison tenderloin with potato dauphinoise. The bison was amazing, and the potato was special, as it was prepared in sheets sort of like a millie crepe. The meat definitely tasted gamey, and it was juicy and tender at medium doneness. So overall it was ALMOST a total miss, had it not been for the bison. However, I would rather find bison tenderloin somewhere else, because I'm sure at Banff it's not that hard to find. Safe to say we will not be returning. read more

We visited Banff for our honeymoon. Maple Leaf meal was the best meal during the honeymoon, It was so good that we wanted to go there twice but second time was sold out, so we couldn't eat there. We shared meat platter appetizer. My husband ordered Elk which was excellent. Elk was the special menu for the day. It was our first time to eat elk. Who knew elk was so tender. I ordered duck which was good but I wish I ordered elk. The experience at Maple leaf was great. If Banff was close to NYC, we'd go back there anytime!! read more
This restaurant was amazing in being able to accommodate a party of eight within the hour. We were smart to make reservations as many people got denied due to how busy it was. Wehad a three year old with us and they were able to make Mac and cheese for a hungry toddler on the fly. There wasn't an empty spot within the restaurant from the time we arrived at 7pm to when we left around 10pm. The food did take quite a while to arrive but when it arrived it definitely didn't disappoint. I was able to swap cous cous with wild mushroom risotto with my lamb shank. All the flavours they used highly complemented each other. High quality food for an expected price within Banff. Give this romantic restaurant a try in the evening. read more

I came here because it was right across the street from my hotel in Banff. It's right on Banff avenue, so the location is great. The service and ambiance were great right from the start. I got the white sangria, which was really fruity and delicious. They give you complimentary bread with oil and vinegar to start, which is nice while you are waiting for your meal. They had a bunch of seasonal lobster specials, so for my main course I got the lobster mac n' cheese. It is a little bit pricey, but it was absolutely delicious! My meal was so good and of high quality. My one friend got the salmon and the other got lamb, and both their meals were equally great! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Banff and want to enjoy a nice upscale dinner. read more

We came here for dinner during our stay in Banff. I had mixed feelings about the restaurant before going. It's touted as a quintessential restaurant of Alberta, but I'm often skeptical of restaurants that are located right in the middle of a the tourists thoroughfare. Upon arrival, our hostess knew greeted us very warmly and very promptly showed us to our seats. As we were celebrating a special occasion and I had requested it in our reservation, we were shown to their window table that overlooked the intersection of Banff Ave with a backdrop of the mountains. Our server was quick to welcome us and he promptly brought us complimentary sparkling wines to congratulate us. He was knowledgeable, yet efficient in his descriptions and recommendations. For starters we got the calamari which, although a common offering, truly surprised us! It was one of the most tender calamari we've had in a very long time! Breaded and fried, it had a beautiful crunch and yet almost almost tofu tender texture of calamari! Served with tzatziki, grilled lemon and pickled red onion, all together offered a symphony of texture, fat, salty and sour. For entrees, we got the bison tenderloin and salmon with prawns, along with a side of mac 'n cheese. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked and bacon wrapped, served on top of potato dauphinoise and topped with gorgonzola. To be honest (I can't believe I'm saying this) but I think the bacon took away the luster of the dish. I love bacon, but to me, I didn't want to eat bacon-flavored bison, I want to eat bison because it's a meat that I rarely get to eat. That said, overall the dish was still pretty good. We also got the Maple Leaf Signature dish (that's exactly how it's written in the menu!) of Wild Maple B.C. Salmon & Prawns. The salmon was perfectly done, but the prawns were impressively very fresh! Now, our side of truffle mac 'n cheese was astounding! It was soul-satisfying and the truffle oil gave a certain mature complexity to the dish. For dessert, we got the trio of creme brulees. There were maple syrup, bailey's and white chocolate raspberry. We loved the maple syrup one! The amazing calamari and the mac 'n cheese were the MVPs of our meal! All in, it was a surprisingly wonderful experience, great service, great food and all for a short walk back to hotel! read more

Good atmosphere, good service. Food was not that good. Ordered the Halibut, no flavor that was disappointing. My boyfriend had the Meatballs and Spaghetti also a disappointment. As an appetizer we ordered a crab and it was the first time I tried it and it exceeded my expectations. For the main dish we ordered a salmon and a cut of meat, very well cooked and very well combined with their garnishes. The dishes are so abundant that we did not have room for dessert. Great menu and fun ambiance. However, our hot entrees must have sat in the kitchen too long because all 4 of our entrees were no longer hot but warm upon serving. The scallops & halibut were still delicious but the duck and crab cakes were terrible, most likely due to the temperature. While it's a small mistake to some, it really can ruin a meal. Our table left disappointed. Also, their Caesar salad is not a traditional Caesar, it's very blan and the romaine had gone soft. read more

Well worth every penny! We made a reservation ahead of time, exclusively because of the rave reviews on TripAdvisor, and it exceeded our expectations. We were promptly seated, received water almost immediately and the stellar service went all thorough the meal. Our server was on point. The service was exactly how it should be. Our apps came out together, within 5 minutes of ordering and were freshly made. Our main courses, signature BC maple salmon and AAA Alberta beef tenderloin, arrvied 5 minutes after we completed out apps and were delicious !! It's a perfect mix between casual and fine dining. We paid 130 cad for two. read more
