Great ambience, lovely and (VERY) attentive services. 3 people checked on us to see if anyone is already helping or if we need anything. Ordered the prime rib toast (wich is unexpectedly very delish..favorful..balanced...unlike all those toast i have eaten before...omg, im drooling as im typing). And ordered french omellette (my friend is vegetarian and she said it's absolutely tasty and yummy and she is happy to see quite good options for no-meat dish). We went to 4 other places during our 3days in banff, this is the ONLY place she praised (not simply bc of veg options,but the fact that its delish). That means something! They also generously gave us lemon cheesecake as bday cake (it was my bday and kinda nice to have small sweet celebration considering i was away from home). Here's the thing....our service was awesome. The vibes were cool inside. We came for happy hour - 50% off fondue and other items. If I wasn't there for that, I would have been disappointed and felt that was too expensive. The broccolini was delightful and my husband really enjoyed the "bacon" for dipping into the fondue. Cocktails weren't our favorite and the overall consensus was it was our weakest dinner reservation of our time in Banff. The Swiss classic fondue was very sour and the texture was grainy, the ribeye was tough to cut and not a lot of flavor and the cheesy mash potatoes came out cold and really sour. I've never had fondue during happy hour so this was the perfect opportunity to order it! The happy hour menu has a nice variety of cocktails and food items. The fondue came with potatoes, cornichons, and bread cubes. We ordered a salad, fries, and the prime rib, perfectly cooked to a medium rare. The food was delicious. Our server was delightful. Celebrated my wife's 60th birthday. Promptly seated for our 7:45 pm reservation. On our table was a birthday card - what a nice touch! Service throughout was incredible. Though a busy Saturday night, our server Melissa was attentive, kind, and made us feel like we were her only table. My wife got the 6 oz tenderloin, I got the ribeye. Came here for our fancy honeymoon dinner night and left bummed with the outcome. We got the 12oz prime rib I believe it's called Bluebird Cut and the BC Sablefish. Could not seem to grasp what exactly was off but out food was simply not good. It lacked flavor, and the flavor it did have was just extremely odd and not very great. The creamy doughnuts were not terrible. The service was good, but unfortunately this meal was terrible. I would say this was definitely the worst meal we had in banff and would not go back, especially because when paying these prices you would expect better of the food. Yum! This place definitely lives up to the hype. They are incredibly popular (for good reason) so make sure you make a reservation in advance. Our first evening, we just wanted drinks and they were able to squeeze us in for a quick 45 min table to enjoy a beer flight. Their beers are excellent, and the restaurant has a cozy rustic nature/cabin vibe. We enjoyed our time there and wanted to come back for lunch the next day, so we did! The crispy cheese on the edge was the best part! 45-day aged porterhouse -- this was prepared perfectly and was so good! Definitely one of the best steaks I've had at a restaurant. broccolini -- perfected roasted and was a solid side. rosemary fries -- these were SO good and fried to perfection. I highly recommend getting this! roasted savory cabbage & chimichurri -- the flavors were so unique and I recommend this if you like cabbage. The sauce was absolutely delicious! key lime pie -- this was definitely the star of the show! This was the BEST key lime pie I've ever had and I'd even consider ordering this for takeout the next time I'm in Banff! It got pretty busy here during dinner time and it took a long time for our food to arrive; we easily waited upwards of 30-40 minutes for our food. Our server was great about updating us on the status of our food and we appreciated the dessert that he comp'ed since the food was taking longer than usual. After a day at Revelstoke to snowboard and then driving 3 hours back to Banff, I was starving by the time I got back. I was craving a steak because I truly believe, as an American citizen, that no beef is better than Albertan beef. I will fight you on it. I was worried about the dress code because I was still in ski clothes, so I called the restaurant. They said it was no problem. Despite arriving in ski clothes and feeling quite underdressed, I was welcomed politely with no issues. My waitress Maria was great as well. She made sure I was taken care of and I couldn't have asked for better service. I ordered the French Onion Soup as an appetizer, the Strip Steak along with a side of mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The French Onion Soup was FANTASTIC. Hearty with a nicely melted layer of cheese on top. It hit the spot so well after a long day. The strip steak was magnificent. I almost passed out because of how good it was. The intricate deposits of fat in the beef made every bite absolutely perfect. The only seasoning that it needed was salt, which was supplied as seen in the picture. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. Equally as good as the steak were the mushrooms. They were creamy as well with pieces of fried chicken skin peppered throughout. I've never had mushrooms like that and I devoured the entire bowl. As I said before, Bluebird ranks as much favorite restaurant in Banff so far. I look forward to visiting next year! read more

My husband and I stopped by for a late dinner after hearing the wonderful reviews. The restaurant itself is very cozy. Our server was wonderful and incredibly attentive the entire meal. We loved chatting with him about the slopes and other Banff recommendations. We ordered a winter salad, fondue, and steak frites. Everything was delicious and incredible. We left full and very happy. If we had more room in our stomachs, the dessert also looked amazing as other tables ordered key lime pie. The only con I can think of is the price, but just know going in that it is on the pricier side. This is the perfect spot for special occasions! The steak at bluebird is one of the few steaks that is better than what I can make at home with the same quality meat. They sear it at a very high temperature giving a wonderful texture and flavor. The meat is perfectly salted without too much seasoning interfering with the flavor of the steak. If you come here, you really have to order the ribeye. Husband and I stopped for lunch today, Dec 7. It was busy enough but we're seated right away with no reservation. We ordered breakfast for lunch, an omelet and eggs Bennie, requesting soft and runny please! Reasonable wait however when the plates came it was obvious both had sat on the pass, with the eggs Bennie suffering the worst. The Bennie was cold, with the hollandaise congealed, yolks solid and the hash browns wrinkled. The salad also suffered from sitting too long, overly dressed and wilted. Too delicate of a leaf to sit in that much heavy dressing... also very very tart dressing. When they are at that much of a higher price point relative to others in Banff, I'd expect better. Do not come to Banff without ordering this. The end. Oh, and also, I ordered the Bluebird Colada and enjoyed it, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations based on the ingredients listed. Still tasty though! As for the wife, she had a very different experience. She wanted to order fondue while in Banff, since it's such a popular thing here. She ordered the Prime Rib fondue which would allow us to still get to taste the prime rib. The server did warn us that it's more like well-done prime rib, but we were still excited to try it. In reality, it was more like beef jerky than well-done. Unfortunately, it was barely edible. The fondue cheese was great and the bread for dipping was addicting. But the meat was the polar opposite from my steak. 5-stars vs 1-star. With that being said, I am still delivering an easy 5-star rating because my meal was that amazing + I would never have ordered fondue if it were up to me. Great job with the ribeye, Bluebird. I'm visiting Banff for my birthday trip, and honestly everything in this town has been a 10/10... except Bluebird. We got that "not wanted here" feeling right away. I popped in around 6 PM for ONE drink. That's it. Not a table, not dinner, not a whole experience. Just one quick birthday drink. I walked straight to the bar because no one was at the host stand, and typically bar seating is open anyway. Immediately a staff member shuts it down with this super dismissive "we're fully booked, you can't sit there." Mind you... the place was half empty. Another staff member says "let me check," rolls his eyes, glances around for two seconds, and basically confirms the same thing without even trying to accommodate. Look, I get reservations. I get busy restaurants. But being rude about it when someone just wants a quick drink at an empty bar? On their birthday? Come on. The vibe felt unnecessarily arrogant for absolutely no reason. Banff has been full of kind, welcoming people all week, which made this interaction stand out even more. We could only eat 50% of it, the rest of it was dog food quality and I'm not even a steak snob. Service and the sides were great. They did discount 50% of it but I'd have ordered something else had I known before or some other reviewers mentioned steak was below average. Literally there is nothing 'restaurant' quality about this steak, not even flavor let alone the chewiness. If they are serving steak so rubbery and chewy like this they should probably sharpen their steak knives which were so blunt It was too late for us to go out and eat somewhere else so we ate protein bars and milk so we don't go hungry to bed. The 3 stars is mainly for service, ambience and because management was gracious enough to discount 50% of the steak. read more
