The food portions here are huge! We ate here last week while we were out sight seeing. The steak and spaghetti dinners were tasty. The steak was huge, almost the size of the dinner plate. It was well worth the price! The spaghetti sauce could have used a little more seasoning but the homemade garlic bread was delicious! Service was a little slow but it was very busy in there! The whitefish in the Seafarer sandwich is superb, the fries are great, and the cole slaw is nice and tangy. The remoulade sauce on the whitefish cakes was superb and the cakes were plenty big as a lunch serving. The KBC Amber was excellent as usual. The ambience is a cross between between nautical and north woods and is very comfortable. We come every year when we're in Copper Harbor. read more

Stayed here while visiting the area in November. The cabins are very spacious, pet friendly and comfortable. We also ate at the restaurant for lunch and dinner. The food was good. They also serve locally brewed beers. read more

Awesome service We waited at a different restaurant and ended up walking out. We decided to try this place. More money but so worth it. The food was great and more importantly we weren't ignored. Understand that dining in Copper Harbor isn't exactly like eating in New Orleans, Chicago or Santa Fe. There are basically five places to eat, and two are only by reservation. When my husband and I come to Da U. P., we look for good food, reasonably priced--not Wolfgang Puck. That said, my husband had the broiled whitefish with soup and I had an artisan turkey grilled cheese. The soup was good, and definitely homemade. The fish was decent and the grilled cheese had good turkey, was properly made (every bite had all the ingredients, so it wasn't like all the turkey was in one end and the cheese was in the other) and nicely toasted. The waiter was friendly and kept our water topped off. The music was low enough to talk over, and the lodge-y atmosphere was comfortably homey. It's a nice place to relax after a long day hiking, kayaking, fishing and generally wandering around. The menu has enough variety that you won't get bored eating here four times in a week. read more

There aren't many places to eat at Copper Harbor and sadly this is one of the worst. Visited this place at 1PM for lunch on Sunday, and wait literally ONE HOUR to get our food (simply two burgers, nothing fancy). The restaurant is obvious wayyyyy under-employed. I ordered the Freighter sandwich, and it was such a disappointment. Fried chicken was over-cooked and under-seasoned, bacon was nothing close to crispy, and the sweet potato fries looked just been dragged out of the frying basket, super greasy! The burger is definitely below average of all the burgers I've had in my life. I do understand the crowd and the waiting time at color season, but the food was just not a pleasant experience. read more

I consider myself a baked potato connoisseur of sorts, so I always try them at every restaurant. I became especially interested in the baked potatoes at the Mariner when I heard a few guys complaining about how awful they were. I had heard differently from friends of mine, so I had to try them for myself. I ordered one with dinner (whitefish--really good!). I liked it so much, I ordered a second one. The second one was only a dollar! The potatoes were perfectly cooked--steamy, starchy perfection. It paired perfectly with the house pinot noir/merlot blend I had with dinner. Overall, I'd have to say that the Mariner has great food, pleasant surroundings and staff, and the best baked potatoes in Copper Harbor. read more

Stop here every time we go to Copper Harbor. I always have the Smoke Stack which is now my favorite sandwich. (I order it without the spinach as it gets kind of slimy when grilled.)Their fries are so yummy! I wish I could go and have it right now! Food is consistently delicious! read more

Typical pub food with lots of choices. Was slow day for lunch so our table for 9 was put together and we were seated in minutes. Service went fine, the food was middle of the road. I would stop again if in the area and try something else from the very large menu. read more

Highly recommend this place. We had a large group and everyone ordered pretty much something different. All food was excellent. The whitefish was good, the hot sausage was very good, great burgers, grilled cheese and the french fries were excellent. My family and I actually stayed at the hotel and chose the restaurant to eat at because the majority of reviews were positive. However, I should have heeded the warnings of the more neutral or negative reviews. I ordered the pasta primavera with shrimp, scallops, and cod. I believe "they" actually used the frozen "Fresh Like" version of white sauce, broccoli, carrots, and zucchini. They added the pre-cooked small shrimp, frozen bay scallops, and maybe fresh white fish. For the ridiculous price of $18.95. The reason I give it 2 stars is because the other two meals we ordered did get favorable reviews. If you decide to eat here don't order anything with pasta. It's frozen as evident by the watery white sauce. read more

We ate here twice while in Cooper Harbor. The first night we had pizza, which was amazing. Spicy with lots of cheese and toppings. If I based my review solely on the pizza, it would be a five. Dinner the next night wasn't spectacular, but good. I had the baked whitefish and my husband had the rib special. My husband loved his ribs, but didn't particularly like the whitefish chowder that came with it. I didn't taste any of the promised sun-dried tomatoes in the sauce on my whitefish, but it was good, as was the chicken pot pie soup I had for a starter. read more

Worst experience in the U.P. - Shameful, disrespectful and rude. Mariner North was the only place went during a 10 day UP vacation where staff and management had a goal of ripping off the customers. Servers pump up the bill by serving unordered items then expecting us to pay for them. Then when you ask for a correction, Management will ask the server if the in question food+drinks were touched, returning to the counter stating that you enjoyed the items so the bill won't be changed. Really? Add in a filthy bathroom and slow service too. STAY AWAY FROM MARINER NORTH. +++YOU have been warned.+++ read more

The North Mariner surpassed my expectations. From the other reviews, I was a little bit hesitant about grabbing dinner here. However, I was quite content with the experience. I got a full rack of ribs, and the old lady got jumbo shrimp. Neither meal was absolutely great, but both were up to par with the prices and expectations. Additionally, since it was her birthday we got a free slice of chocolate cherry cheesecake (aka heaven, as Jackie puts it). I dont even like sweets but I enjoyed it. Atmosphere was classy but comfortable, and service was never a problem. read more
