We were on our way home from Harper's ferry and were craving burgers so a quick yelp search brought us here. I didn't expect it to be a little store. I thought it was a restaurant. Either way though, it was still amazing. There was one lady working the counter and she was very nice. Husband and I both ordered the burger and she brought it out to our table outside. It came with a large portion of delicious fries too. The cheeseburger tasted so buttery and delicious. I would definitely come back here again if I'm ever in this area. read more

Looking for a place to eat in Upperville, we initially wanted to try the Hunters Head Tavern- only to find out you really need reservations there. Luckily we had seen the sign for the Market and decided to give it a try. The main store has an interesting selection of specialty and local foods. they also serve a selection of sandwiches from their kitchen. There is a decent size indoor and outdoor dining area across the street. We both went with chicken sandwiches, which also came with a side of fries. And these ended up being really good sandwiches, the kind worth going back for. And the fries were phenomenal. Whether going to Hollins Farms for fruit picking or hitting up some of the local wineries, this is a great place to stop for a bite. read more

I am so happy that a friend tipped us off to this tiny little corner specialty market right outside of Middleburg. It was the perfect spot to satiate our hunger after peach picking at nearby Hollin Farms! It looks like they are mostly operating in a curbside takeout manner, but since we were in the midst of a mini road trip we opted to carryout and sit in the private back patio of their sister wine shop next door. There was only one other family there when we arrived but they were finishing up so we had the whole spot to ourselves. Our children were over the moon to be able to get their wiggles out and run around in the gated porch. The market offers several prepared in-house hot sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and prepared groceries. I went for their burger while my husband drooled over their steak and cheese sandwich. My daughter wasn't a fan of the chicken tenders ("too spicy" aka, it had salt and pepper on it) but I bulldozed my way through them and was a huge fan. It was like grown up Chick-fil-a! She loved the extra crispy fries though. This was our first time dining out in any type of capacity since the pandemic started and we felt very happy and safe on the private porch (we also came in with our own clorox wipes to sanitize everything before sitting down). Glad to see the Market at Blue water reopen after major renovations. The burgers and fries, as well as chicken strips, are great lunch items to be enjoyed on the small patio. We found this place by mistake and plan to return! We tried the BWH Burger with fries and side salad. The burger was so fresh and flavorful - go all toppings! Cheddar cheese was delicious and fresh greens and tomatoes. The fries were perfectly crispy and had fresh herbs and lightly sprinkled cheese. Side salad had lentils and candied walnuts - and beans. The dressing was light and yummy! We sat outside - the location used to be a General Store and the fresh air and sun was great! The service is friendly and helpful. We ordered curbside for an impromptu picnic and the service and food was just absolutely perfect and accommodating! My husband is Vegan so I asked them to come up with a little lunch platter for him. They chose a black eyed pea salad with gorgeous and huge asparagus to top it, a side of fries without the parmigiana and raspberries which complemented the entire meal nicely! I had their beautiful bacon, cheeseburger cooked to perfection, I love my temperature to be rare. The burger was flavorful, the bun was so perfect, toasty and thin but the perfect ratio to hold everything together and it never got soggy. The fries are delicious! This is one of my top 10 now and we can't wait to go back! We especially look forward to being able to come inside to shop and perhaps eat outside on their cute patio! read more

We visit the Middleburg/Upperville area a LOT and have driven past Bluewater many times, but never stopped in... So, while in the area, visiting a winery where we're members, we decided to place an order for the 4 of us for lunch from Bluewater to bring to the winery. Placing the order was very easy, I used the phone, rather than email and gave my credit card, which they charged prior to my arrival. The food was actually ready within a minute of the specific time I asked it to be ready for pickup! Which we were happy about, as we were ensured a "fresh" meal!! The place is quaint and nicely laid out with lots of local and artisan foods... most of which were pre-packaged. They have dairy and meats as well, all farm fresh! The ladies working on the day we went were very friendly and helpful. The food we picked up looked really good, especially for "take out food!" Overall, we really enjoyed the chicken sandwich, though it wasn't spicy at all. The fries that came with it were REALLY good; I think they were twice-fried and they were covered with parsley - YUM! The Superfood Salad was good, but about ¼ of the lettuce was wilted and my wife wasn't to thrilled with that, but she did like the overall salad and the salmon preparation too. The shrimp & grits were pretty good. The grilled cheese was decent, but the tomato soup that came with it was too acidic and wasn't eaten at all... it looked good, but wasn't palatable. Overall, this was a decent visit and we'll most definitely stop in again for carryout or perhaps a sandwich to eat at their outdoor tables. Prices are fair, especially for local/farm-to-table eats. read more

I've been dying to try the Market at Bluewater Kitchen, and been a very active follower on Instagram. The golden opportunity to visit came yesterday, and this neighborhood purveyor of fresh seafood, foodie groceries, and gourmet hot and prepared foods didn't disappoint. My seared salmon sandwich was incredible. I gobbled it up, relishing every bite, but working quicker than my usual slow-eating self to ensure I could enjoy everything while still very warm/fresh. The seared salmon was prepared perfectly and sandwiched (haha) between two slices of toasted and buttered brioche. The sauce was a mayo/aioli that complimented the flavors of the buttery salmon very well. The chef did something that I truly didn't expect, that took this up a notch, though--seaweed salad (the kind you get at sushi restaurants) was the main topping! That was so genius. The seaweed salad brought everything together and added color, interest, and more. The accompanying fries were well-seasoned, herbaceous with just the right amount of salt. My husband also praised the fries and really enjoyed his chicken sandwich. Diners can grab prepared or cooked meals and enjoy al fresco, either in front of their market or in the back patio of their seafood store (housed in a separate building). The aforementioned patio was very comfortable and relaxing. I have been inclined to give more five-star reviews lately, but I also believe all those businesses truly deserved. For the Market at Bluewater Kitchen, I'd assign more than five stars if I could! So delicious. Beautiful shop. Could not be happy to have stumbled across The Market at Bluewater Kitchen. There is so much to love! Their counter service items are delicious. My wife raved over the Super Duper Salmon Salad and my fried chicken sandwich makes a mockery of the Popeyes v. Chick Fil A debate. Then there are the grab and go items. Chicken Parm? Yes, please. Coq au vin? Um, can I have two servings? And don't get me stated on the buffalo chicken wrap. OMG! So good!!! If you happen to be driving through Upperville, I highly recommend stopping for a bite or to grab a meal to reheat at your house. And if you are not driving through Upperville, The Market at Bluewater Kitchen is destination worth and definitely worth the trip. read more

Fries were delicious, but the burger was underwhelming for $16+tax. The size of the patty was on the small side. They put roasted tomato and zucchini on the burger, which was interesting, but I prefer pickles and raw tomato. I would've happily subbed the roasted veggies for pickles and raw tomato if they asked me what toppings I wanted, but they didn't. While waiting for my order, I was impressed with the craft beer selection so I picked out a 4 pack. It cost $18, which was also underwhelming. It wasn't even a double IPA; we're talking a four pack of 4.5% lager costing $18. If I'm in the area, I'd order a burger from here again and specifically ask for pickles on it, but I wouldn't spend that much on beer again. read more

This place is awesome! After a trip to Delaplane Cellars, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat. The place was clean, well organized, and all the prepared foods/baked goods looked fresh. The workers were attentive and friendly, offering some great suggestions and complimenting our Halloween costumes. We opted for hot orders: super duper salad, chicken sandwich, and the po boy. None of us were disappointed. The food was hot and fresh, seasoned to perfection, and presented beautifully. The French fries were crispy and salted well. The shrimp is grilled, and I loved that it was served on a buttered brioche bun rather than a traditional bready bun. I could actually taste the shrimp rather than knawing through the bread. The oatmeal creme cookies: just get them. Great snack for the road home, and we're still munching on them at home. Soft and chewy. We sat outside at the winery next door, which has a bathroom and plenty of seating options. Great spot that will make us city-dwellers reconsider moving out to the beautiful rolling hills of Virginia. read more

So delicious! Stopped here after a day of hiking and it hit every spot! My party started off with some smoked white fish dip from the prepared foods fridge and it was perfect. For our entrees we had the hot chicken sandwich (comes with parmesan fries) and the venison stew. The sandwich was flavorful and moist, and the stew was super rich and tender. We also had a bottle of wine which was priced very fair according to my father who has his own wine business. The market also offers outdoor seating in a beautiful pergola style patio. Definitely stop here if you want great quality food for a fair price (unlike many places in the area)! read more

The Market at Bluewater Kitchen exceeded every expectation. I ordered their tailgate catering to be delivered to Great Meadow for Twilight Polo. The polo match got canceled due to weather about an hour before my catering was due to be delivered. The staff was incredibly on top of it and contacted me to ask where to reroute my order. They met me at a new location, even though they had to wait 30 minutes for me to arrive. The owner helped me carry the food through the pouring rain. The order was absolutely perfect. Every dish was outstanding and the meal was a hit for my group of 20. The chicken fingers were incredible -- hand breaded, light, and flavorful. The pasta salad was a favorite as was the potato salad. The Market at Bluewater Kitchen thought through every detail -- supplying the appropriate amount of condiments for the chicken fingers (individual containers of ketchup and honey mustard), etc. In short, The Market at Bluewater Kitchen went above and beyond in every way, and their food cannot be beat. This place is incredible. I hosted a bachelorette party in Delaplane and Holly helped me plan the entire thing. THEN the city lost power. She was the first to tip me off I may have trouble getting to my AirBNB. Then she provided water and ice and candles. She checked in with me the next morning. She even happily helped me move the entire party 20 minutes away. She coordinated with other local bakeries and bagel shops. She brought me wine when I ran out. I could not have pulled off this weekend without her. Also the food was IMMACULATE. I joked that I'm going to encourage people to visit Delaplane solely to visit this kitchen. My husband and I decided to take a Covid-19 drive yesterday. We drove out to Middleburg. We drove through the town into Upperville and saw Bluewater Kitchen. I had heard about this boutique grocery store. It ended up being a great Covid-19 experience. We were greeted with a very friendly hello. They have fully cooked meals that you can take home and warm up. The Kitchen offered fresh cooked menu that you could call and order for curbside pick up. We got chicken salad and crackers and had a picnic in our car. The Chicken salad was delicious and the blonde brownie for dessert was so good. They even had toilet paper! It was a great outing and one we will do more often. Take a cooler so you can purchase several meals. read more
