Went here on a trip with my family on my return back from the marine corps. First night we were harassed by a lady that knew the owner of the condo because we were carrying luggage up the stairs and had alcohol inside the room even tho myself is 21 and father is above the age of 21. She threatened to search the room as a civilian and even demanded IDs. Few nights later had a issue with sisters boyfriend and his medication his friends that were a few streets down came to check up on him and we were instantly screamed at for having more then 6 people within room even tho it was not even 3 minutes. That night the lady came in and confiscated all of our alcohol when I was out of the room enjoying my vacation even tho I was 21 years old. We were then evicted with the reason of alcohol was in the room with 18 year olds even tho it was not for them and they did not touch it the family trip ended and now I am leaving when all week we had to stress about what would happen that day barley even got to spend quality time nor a good time with my family. If you want to be watched 24/7 and worry about people taking your stuff then this is the perfect place for you. read more

We stayed in room 401 and it is absolutely beautiful. The building manager, Tammy was so incredibly friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. She made our time there extra nice and we were so happy with everything. We appreciated the elevator and the indoor pool, but mostly the gorgeous view. Two decks to view sunrise and sunset. We have stayed in Condo 203 a few times now and it has been wonderful everytime! The kitchen is well stocked, the decor is beautiful and the couch is comfy. We tried as much as we could while staying, we watched the sunrise on the beach,walked to nearby stores(we recommend Uber Bagel for breakfast or lunch). The pool is great for relaxing in. You can sit on the sundeck and watch the sunset or just hang out. Play games in the game room or spend time on the beach. The location is amazing and will definitely be back! read more

Amazing location cannot be beat! Close to many great restaurants, the park, and just steps from the beach!!! Spectacular views from our 4th floor condo. Our grandchildren absolutely love the pool do we visit year round. Our room was recently updated, had new comfortable beds, a sofa bed and a chair that pulled out to another single sleep mattress. We were especially delighted to see that there was a small washer and dryer available right in our condo and also a laundry room in addition for the building. Parking was always easy and convenient. There is a property manager on site who is welcoming, friendly and super helpful! This place is a gem! read more

This condo building is right on the beach with an elevator, indoor heated pool and game room. Walking distance to many good restaurants. Stayed in condo #201. Very guest and pet friendly with two patios. Very clean and well decorated. We got in late and didn't have time to food shop. Much to our surprise the next morning the cabinets were stocked with coffee, creamer, hot chocolate and teas. Took our coffee out on the nicely furnished balcony and watched the ocean waves. Call the Marylander Hotel and request unit #201. You will not be disappointed. read more

Yes, the walls are thin. Very thin and you can hear your neighbors kids at 7:30 in the morning but nothing woke us up at night and I'm a light sleeper.... The place is clean from what we would see (our rooms and common areas). No it's not new but everything worked. The air especially. Thought I was going to freeze. I wasn't sure what I needed to bring since it was more of a rented or condo then a hotel. But they did provide paper towels, dishwashing powder/ laundry detergent, and hand/ body soap... nothing fancy by any means. But who cares we brought our own stuff anyways. I did wash all the bedding before sleeping in it. Not that I thought it was dirty. Just something made me want to clean it myself so there was no question. Hope this helps. read more

I've found this place on vacation rentals and decided to book it because I was going to an event happening in September. They are very affordable with there prices sense I stayed 5 days there. If your looking for a place to just sleep there then its a great place to be . The rooms are little bit out of date but other then that this place was really nice . I stayed there with 6 people and it was kind of tight . Its nice to have a kitchen and to cook at the condo some nights , the bathroom is very large as well as the living room . We've had the beautiful view of the ocean right there and we all loved it . This place was very nice and for a really good price. read more

We drove 4.5 hours for a nice memorial day weekend...spent the worst 11 hours of our life in this hotel/condo....only got 1.5-2hrs sleep in that 11 hours....waited around for office to open and promptly leave driving 4.5 hours home. ....AVOID THIS PLACE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE IT SHOULD BE TORN DOWN!!!! ***This place has two things going for it: a dirt cheap price and a great location. Meh, indeed. I don't recommend this place at all. We utilized the groupon deal for a two-night girls' weekend down at the beach. And two nights was all we could handle. We stayed in unit #406, and as the two reviewers before me wrote, the beds are HORRIBLE. Based on the floral print on the mattress, I'd say it's from the early 90s. If you rolled over, the bed shook and your woke you bedmate. No way I would have been able to handle another night. Only one person could fit on the couch. Pillows sucked, too. And the towels... nice holes in the washclothes. Oh, and speaking of holes, the fist size hole on the ottoman (no idea how someone did that one), and the ripped up berber carpet were also a nice touch. We dealt with everything because it was cheap, and we were there short term. If we had had a week's rental, I would have left. (Also-the heated pool wasn't very warm-didn't even bother to go in, and pretty shallow- only up to 4.5 feet) read more

I stayed here after buying a groupon a couple months ago and just got back from the trip. The condo itself isn't too bad at first glance, but once you settle in you immediately realize the negatives. The beds are unbelievably uncomfortable and the walls are so thin that you can hear every step made from the people staying above you. The amount of noise you can hear around your condo sort of reminded me of my cheap $300 apartment I had in a bad section of Baltimore City. People walked around until after 2am, and even though they probably weren't trying to be loud, the walls are just too thin and it made it hard to sleep. The couch was pretty dingy and looked like the kind of couch you can get for $20 on Craigslist, and it took forever just to get the door to the condo to actually lock. Other than that, the kitchen is nice and fully stocked with a stove, microwave, other misc appliances and a regular sized fridge. Overall, I wasn't impressed, and the 3pm check-in and 10:30am check-out takes a substantial amount of time off your visit. We won't be going back to this place, but thankfully we didn't waste a ton of money to find out. read more

I have been staying at the Marylander for six years and I really enjoy my stay. Having lived in Florida for 18 years, the condos are just like Florida apartments, layout and decor. Yes, the decor seems dated, but it's meant to be a beachy, tropical escape, so I don't mind all the pastels. It doesn't ever feel like I'm in a hotel. There's an indoor pool, sun decks and the beach is your backyard. The staff have always been pleasant. I wish check out was 3pm but I've never stayed anywhere that didn't make you checkout before 10am. What first drew me to the Marylander was the price. It's so much cheaper than anyplace else on the beach. When it comes down to it, I care more about the outdoor activities and the beach than cheesy tropical decor, not too mention the company of my partner. read more

Stayed here back in April, 2013 and it was a complete disaster. Booked this place through Groupon because it was a great deal and I wanted to take my girlfriend away for a couple days. Spoke to the staff over the phone prior to my trip and they seemed very pleasant. When we arrived we were even told we didn't need to provide the security deposit. We were told we could check in early but the beds weren't made which was no problem since we were dropping off our bags and going to lunch. We returned to the room 2 hours after our check in time (5:30pm), the beds were still not made, they had dirty, stained sheets piled on them, the dishes and cookware were sticky and dirty, the shower was full of hair and the shower curtain was filmy and stained with what looked like blood, the screen door for the balcony was broken and kept falling out. The room was an utter mess. The hotel staff was gone for the day and luckily we brought our own sheets so the next morning we found a phone number and called to complain. We were assured the room would be cleaned by the time we returned to the hotel that day. The hotel manager, Casey, called me around noon that day and stated that he'd rather move us to another room than have it cleaned. I told him we were already unpacked and only there for one more night so moving rooms would be more of a nuisance than anything and he agreed to have it cleaned. When we returned that night, the beds had been remade with the same dirty sheets, the shower was still disgusting and the door was unfixed, the bedroom door wouldn't even close. The only thing they had done right was the dishes. I called Casey back and left a message complaining about the continued state of the room and requested a late checkout and a full refund. We went to the rec room to play ping pong. The room was disgusting, the walls were stained, it smelled musty and the only ping pong ball was too crushed to play with. The carpets in the halls were stained and damp, the people in the room above us were making all kinds of noise from all through the night both nights. Casey finally called me back that night and told me that he had planned to offer me a late checkout but because I had asked for that AND. A refund he "was not inclined to give me either." He also said that, because we did not switch rooms, he didn't owe us anything. He was very rude and refused to even try and work with me in any way. We couldn't even go swimming because the pool is only open when the staff is present and the staff is only there from 12 to 5 when you're out enjoying your vacation. The pool looked dirty anyway. Before leaving, I wrote a letter to the manager (Casey) detailing how thoroughly disgusted I was with both the hotel and his treatment of us. When we stopped at the office to check out he had just finished reading it and was checking in another guest. He made it a point to mock us and talk down to us in front of said guest as if asserting his dominance or something. I will never return to this place, I'd rather spend more money and get a decent hotel. The only helpful staff member was a woman named Barbara who tried her best to help us even though it wasn't her job. I'm just glad it didn't ruin our vacation. Don't ever stay here, it's just not worth it. read more

We checked in and checked right back out and went somewhere else and it was wonderful! I bought a groupon to stay for two nights. Kasey said as long as I come before May 1st we were fine. I booked April 25th weekend. A week before I showed up, I called to confirm. Kasey inform that I would be paying an additional $144 to meet there retail rate. What a scam artist. He has poor management skills. Stayed here this past weekend on a group trip with some friends. I was instantly concerned about where we were staying after I noticed I giant hole in the garage ceiling. Upon walking inside, the situation didn't prove to be much better. Pros: 1. This place gives you one parking spot per condo. 2. Literally a few steps from the beach - very convenient. 3. It was fairly inexpensive for what was offered, but keep in mind the pictures on their site look way better than what you actually get. 4. They have a small, but decent sized indoor pool on site if the weather does not cooperate. 5. There are several decent food places within walking distance. Cons: 1. This place made me think of Section 8 housing. It is filthy, run down, and old. 2. All furniture and amenities are outdated. 3. Our duct work in our room had BLACK MOLD all along the outside of the vents. 4. There's no air conditioning in the hallways, so if the sun is coming in the windows, you think you're in a sauna. I also think that they are trying to save energy with the lights in the hallways. They were always off except for nighttime... and the place is not bright enough to have them off during the day. 5. The common area on the second floor reminds me of something you would find at a state college. Things are filthy, stuff is broken. I'm sure bad things happen on those couches. 6. This "condo" is really, really far from the board walk. It's a two hour walk from anything remotely interesting. Thankfully, there is the beach bus located right on the next street which you can take for $1 and it runs every 10 - 20 mins. It will take you right down to the board walk and all the way up to 145th I'm pretty sure. 7. The staff is not very friendly. 8. Oh, and good luck getting the Wifi to work. It wouldn't even let me update an app on my iPhone and kept disconnecting. read more

We are staying here today until Wednesday and had no problems so far. No neighbors next to us and perfect check in. The lady was very nice and made us very comfortable. We stayed here for 2 nights in early May during Springfest in OC and I must say the place was definitely better than we had expected. My husband and I had already purchased the groupon deal and it was too late to cancel. The experience you have simply depends on the unit you get since these condos are individually owned. We were in unit 405 owned by the Shutta family, and the place was very nice. The 4th floor is right at the top, so fortunately we didn't have to deal with having an occupied unit above us. Pros: The view from unit 405 was incredible...the beach is at your doorstep. The unit was a good size and definitely spacious enough for two people, and could easily accommodate a family of 4. The bathroom looked like it had been recently remodeled, and was very nice and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with silverware, plates, wine glasses etc. Cons: The beds were really uncomfortable and the sheets had a low thread count. Since we had already seen some of the other reviews, we took our own bed sheets and pillow covers. There was no coffee in the place, so in the morning we had to run out to Uber bagels which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. I would only recommend this place if you're visiting OC during the off-peak season when there aren't many tourists in town. During these times, there's a high likelihood that you will get one of the nicer condos. read more

My family and I have stayed at the Marylander for 6 years now and have had a great time every year with no problems. Sure, I wish the pool was open later at night, but otherwise it's very convenient to the beach and North Park across the street for riding bikes, etc. The views of the ocean are beautiful from the deck. Plus, we like it b/c the beach in this area is never very crowded with no high-rises. We have always had great experiences with Casey and Barbara at the front desk. The building has recently gone through a lot of renovations (lobby, pool, game room and new carpet in hallways) which are very nice. We look forward to our next stay. read more

We stayed for three nights in room 303 and felt that they did a good job with cleanliness and Covid. We passed by the housekeeper outside and he made sure to ask if our room was ok. I also heard him checking with other guests in passing. You can tell he cares about his work. Our only complaint is that the room smelled like the previous guests had been smoking in there, even though it's a non smoking building. But that is no fault of the employees. We wiped everything down in our room upon arrival just a secondary precaution because you can't be too careful with Covid. Masks were required in common areas and for the most part, guests were following that rule. They also had hand sanitizer pumps located throughout the building, as well as stations set up for luggage cart wipe down (disinfectant spray and paper towels). Overall we liked the condo, it was comfortable for our family of four. We also loved being so close to the beach. Front desk staff was friendly. I would stay here again, especially for the price and the location. read more

We stayed at the Marylander for Memorial Day weekend 2017. It was in a great location right by the green turtle and they also have a public bus that runs 24/7 for $3 each all day long. The swimming pool I saw was indoors. We did not go in it though. Our condo was beautiful and so clean. The beds were big, clean and comfortable. They had a full kitchen, living room, the bedroom with two full beds and the full bathroom. Everything was perfect. Our balconies over looked the street and the beach and it was so beautiful in the morning. Also, the gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful. The price was why we choose this location. This was absolutely horrible the manager named Casey was beyond rude and racist towards In of the black guests. While staying at this hotel me and my friends were constantly hassled by this hotel manager he even called the police on us after we invited 3 friends over to our room, after asking the lady manager there if it was ok. The only good thing about this hotel was the lady who worked at the desk she was very kind and tried her best to help us. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone of color or anyone period. read more

Most of everything was closed because it wasnt in season especially on the boardwalk. I knew it though since its mid-February. Pros: location (about 90 steps to the water), view, balcony, fully stocked kitchen items available, pet friendly ($50/stay fee, hard to find a place to take them out), heated indoor pool (small), elevators, carts to bring all your luggage up Cons: beds were really uncomfortable (if I'm staying at a condo at least give us comfy beds, we're here to relax, couldn't sleep all last night because of the uncomfortable beds and blankets, going to sleep on the couch tonight), walls were thin, too thin (heard a couple next door doing their thing and heard their exact words...or moans)....yikes...I'd say get a room, but I guess they did...hallway floors were so hallow I creaked every time I took a step, hand soap in the restroom was old bars, foul odor, no iron Was really let down... :/ read more

They have an indoor pool that is only opened from 12-5 and it was closed one of the days, the "game room" had four arcade games from 1980, they claimed there was a queen pull out sofa in the living room and there wasn't, and the television was from 1990. The location is nice and the park across the street is beautiful, however, the baseball fields were closed. Extremely dissatisfied! read more

Wish I had read the Yelp reviews before I bought a get away from GROUPON. Gave this to my husband as a gift, thank GOD he went on Yelp the reviews are disgusting, I wouldn't subject my dog to this place. The icing on the cake is that I have no recourse for a refund, not from GROUPON or the MARYLANDER. It makes me think twice about buying from GROUPON and certainly never take anything for granted, check it out before you buy. Also check out MARYLANDERS rating on TRIPADVISORER.
