We found this wonderful family owned restaurant just by chance when we were in Mason Ohio and we are so happy we did. If you want good home style cooked meals than this is the place to go. The staff are amazing. We chatted with the owner and on our final day he gave us some of his delicious potato salad for the road trip home. Not bad, not great. We came around noon on a Sunday and were seated immediately. The place was about half full, and service was prompt. We got our drinks right away (coffee and water) and placed our order within 10 minutes of arriving. In all, our brunch excursion took less than an hour. Props to Mason Grill for fast service, one of its high points. My fiance ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and a pancake. The I only tried the pancake, which was somewhat thin but deliciously crisp on the outside. I kind of wished I'd ordered one too. After reading through other Yelp reviews, I went with the veggie omelet plus goetta, which came with home fries and toast. The omelet was large (probably 4-ish eggs; I only ate half) and stuffed full of onion, tomato and plenty of mushrooms. The goetta was delicious, but I wish there had been more of it. It was a good omelet, but could have used some cheese and had a little undercooked white in the center (I'm not that squeamish about raw egg, but for half a second it looked like melty cheese and I got my hopes up). If I went again, I'd just get the goetta omelet, and maybe add mushrooms. The home fries were pretty "meh." Bland and a touch underdone, and much improved by salt, pepper and ketchup. The wheat toast came with a generous slathering of butter, and the coffee was decent. The waitress dropped off the check with the food, refilled our drinks, and that was the last we saw of her. (My fiance had to go up to the front counter to ask for a box once we finished.) Overall, the Mason Grill gets stars for fast service, cheap-ish prices and a convenient location. The food, while perfectly edible, just wasn't the best in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again (except maybe to try their lunch offerings), but likewise I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid it, either. read more

Very surprised Outside is very blah, inside has been updated , very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly kept coffee cup full without asking. Food came out fast and was delicious. I'm not a breakfast person at all but today I was craving it so I checked out a couple places o. Here I didn't wanna dine in somewhere to fancy since I had been out running errands. This place was a perfect mixed crowd & quick bite to eat. The reviews did not disappoint, I got the mudslide & it was phenomenal & my bestfriend got the Philly cheesesteak and loved it. Definitely a great mom & pop restaurant! Small, but very cozy. We went on Sunday morning for breakfast and were quickly seated for the two of us. We were greeted with a smile and quickly served with water and coffee. Our server was Gabby and she gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. I had the breakfast special which was eggs, home fries, and breakfast meat. I asked for bacon and for it not to be too crispy. My husbands address the chopped steak breakfast. My meals were quick and the bacon was perfect. Gabby was always smiling and very friendly. They prefer that you pay with cash. We didn't know, so we used a card, but next time will bring cash. It helps to keep their cost down with the extra fees that CC companies charge. We will be back!! read more

Hi Lisa, I hope you read this. I am the customer that always orders a Mudslide. I pulled in to park a little before 10am when a large man from the kitchen started waving and talking very loudly and abrasively that I needed to pull my car up further into the parking space. I pulled up about 12 inches more as that was all the space I had. He continued to yell in a very aggressive way that I still needed to pull up more as the folks parked opposite me will hit my car when they back out. This was ridiculous as I have parked in that spot many times with no issue. My car is quite small. Instead of arguing with this very rude person, I moved my car to a spot along the row of bushes. As a was getting out and began to walk into the restaurant, he again began yelling at me about how to park my car. I responded to him "yeah, yeah, yeah" as I was walking. He then told me, a 64 year old man, that I was acting like child. That was it for me, I told him to F*** off and returned to my car to leave. As I was pulling out, he was still yelling at me so I decided to go into the restaurant to complain about him to you. Unfortunately, you were out. I have been a loyal customer since moving to Mason almost three years ago. Your staff have always been very friendly to me and my family, and of course I love the food. He said he found a place he wanted to try out for breakfast, so on my next visit, we took a short morning drive from his place to the quaint town of Mason. We have visited other places in town for dinner, but this was our first time in Mason for breakfast. I explored the menu before we arrived. I had never tried goetta before so it was definitely on my list. He had eggs, bacon, and an order of biscuits and gravy. I ordered eggs and goetta with pancakes. We both had coffee. Both of our meals were delicious. The portion sizes were good, and the biscuits and gravy were as close to homemade as I have ever had in a restaurant. Goetta was a nice change of taste. I would order it again. Our server was friendly and attentive. She offered sugar-free sugar with my pancakes and kept our coffee cups full. I'm sure we'll stop in again from time to time. read more

The "grill" in the name is somewhat deceptive. This is one of the few real diners around anymore. I don't know how many times I drove by the place before deciding to give it a try, and it was worth definitely it. I usually opt for the gyro or the specials. They serve the standard diner fare (breakfast all day, burgers, etc.) with a number of Greek/Cincinnati standbys (goetta, chili, double deckers). I can't speak of any of the Lunch/Dinner food because we only had breakfast here but I went with a party of four in the middle of the church rush and it only took us about 10 minutes to get seated. The coffee was hot, the food was delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. It looked like lots of local families enjoying a good home cooked type breakfast. Detroiters will feel like they are at home in a cozy Coney Island restaurant, with their gyros, greek salads, and other Greek/Mediterranean items. Came here for Sunday brunch and it was busy but we were still seated quickly. The biscuits and gravy were delicious! I usually find diner type gravy to be too peppery but this was not. The sausage is very flavorful and I had it on my breakfast sandwich too. The sandwich was buttery and melty and very filling. It had two fried eggs with the sausage pieces mixed in. I found the coffee was good as well. Brunch for 2 was only about $25. Definitely would come back to try more of this home cooking. read more

Nice local place. Ate breakfast here - had the mud slide. Gravy, biscuit, sausage, eggs and potatoes all layered. Good, very tasty. Potatoes and onions a little on the blackened side any more would have been burned but I do like onions on the well side so wasn't a big deal for me. I would get this dish again. I had boycotted them for quite a while because of signs in front that disallowed parking for the ice cream place across the street (Despite the fact they were closed... jealous much?) I went recently with my son and the food was just awful. I got an omelette that would be unacceptable at Hampton Inn free breakfast. There was avocado on it that had the texture and look of a granny smith apple. The pancakes for my son were paled in comparison to almost anything even mass produced at a cheap buffet. I only gave a 1 star rating so I could review this place. It deserves a 0 rating. I was invited to breakfast by a man whose sister I am caregiver too. When we walked into the restaurant they all were greeted with a hello and smile. I spoke and smiled at the waitress but she just stared at me. She didn't like the color of my skin because of her blatant racism I decided not to order anything for breakfast. When the food was brought out she reached over me and across me and never said excuse me. She also brought water out for everyone except me. I feel sorry for this hater.She doesn't even love herself. I will never return to this horrible place. This experience reminded me of when I was a child . I went somewhere here in Ohio with my friend and her parents. I was stared at. When I got my hamburger the bun was wet. There us no telling what was done to it. I wasn't going to let that happen this time. This was just a meh place, went on a Sunday early afternoon, and the place was crowded, which gave me high expectations, ordered a potato, bacon, cheese omelette and it came as basically scrambled eggs. Wait staff was nothing special, prices weren't super cheap, didn't really feel like I got anything from it that set it above and beyond any other cafe in the area. Only open until 2pm. read more

This is a little hole in the wall place. But the food is amazing. We ordered two of their more popular breakfast items and my kids got their pancakes. There was not anything left. Everyone loved the food. My husband is really picky about biscuits and gravy and he said this place was really good! The staff was really friendly and we enjoyed our breakfast. Plus it was fast. We had not been to the Mason Grill in a long time. We had a party of eight around 10:30 am on a Saturday. We all ordered breakfasts. Several omlettes, eggs, Goetta, and French toast. Most of the meals came with a lot of potatoes and toast. Reasonably priced and great servers. We were all wearing our tie dyed team shirts for the Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk. I wanted to like this place because it's local, homey, and diner-style which I typically love. Sadly though, I'm not understanding the rave reviews. Everything was just sort of "meh". Sausage gravy was tasty but the biscuit it was served on was too dense for my liking. I felt like I was eating gravy on a flavorless scone. Potatoes had no seasoning. Pancakes were huge and looked yummy but were chewy. Goetta was overcooked. Coffee was downright gross (as others said, it tasted dirty...ew.) The servers were friendly but it took over 30 minutes to get our two meals, which is pretty unacceptable for a diner. Gave this place two stars because the portions are large for the price and aside from the coffee nothing was inedible. But we won't be returning. read more

Can't believe that I have lived within 5 minutes of Mason Grill for 10 years and never gave it a shot (until recently). Small, unassuming diner in Mason - an area in dire need of more decent breakfast options - that does breakfast lunch and dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious and large omelet which contained gyro meat. The rest of the plate was filled out with a huge pile of hash browns. It was relatively busy on the Saturday morning that we went and there aren't a ton of tables, but service was great. Can't wait to try some of the lunch menu and enjoy more family breakfasts here. read more

We stopped at the Mason Grill for breakfast while in Mason for a school trip at Great Wolf Lodge. I had the spinach and feta omelette with home fries. It was delicious. The portions are huge and the service was friendly. I'm glad we decided to venture outside of the resort for breakfast. We will definitely eat there again when we are up this way. read more
