The meat counter is fantastic. Fresh meat (today I saw a wholesale guy carrying in half a pig--the left half--and it was *not* frozen) and in a case against the wall behind the meat counter is the best chorizo in town. The hot food counter? Not so much. Great rice and salsa but the frijoles were actually terrible and the carnitas were so bland. Still, if you only come here for the chorizo, you won't regret it...but you really need to try the rest of their meat selection. read more

Every time we go to Madera we stop by Trujillos to grab some meat. We grab about a pound and a half of marinated chicken and marinated beef. I also grab a tub of guacamole and salsa from the fridge. The meat is inexpensive and really yummy! The beef makes for awesome carne asada tacos or fries. The guacamole is chunky and super lemony. This is a pro in our house. The salsa is also roughly chopped and really delicious. It's not too spicy, but it packs a lot of flavor. What is odd is that the ready made tacos are not my favorite. They taste too salty and if your only judgement of Trujillos is going to be their ready made food, you may be disappointed. read more

This was literally my favorite place to go to up until the time when they started to rip me off.... I literally only had 2 pounds of meat and paid over $30 I shouldn't have paid it but I didn't wanna argue with them because they wouldn't have understood me anyways. I love love love this Carniceria. Since I don't eat much red meat, I am extremely picky about the chicken that I BBQ. Every time we have large gatherings, I will preorder 20-30 pounds of the Pollo Preparada (Marinaded Chicken) and drive down to Madera to pick up. By the time I drive down there it is ready for my up arrival! Love that. Just last week 9/ I purchased 30lbs of marinaded chicken for my wife's birthday. Chicken was on point (of course, my grilling skills are superb). As usual each one of our guest could not get enough of the chicken and ask where I get this chicken from? I always refer fiends and family to take the extra time to drive to Madera. I have ordered other other meats from here and equally as good! I stopped by Madera to pick up my local friend on my way to Yosemite. They suggested grabbing some quick lunch at Trujillo. Walking into Trujillo, I thought it was just a market, but in the very back of the shop, they sell cooked food. Tacos, burritos and some of the biggest chicerrones I have ever seen. The menu is in Spanish, and with my food level knowledge of Spanish, I was able to decipher what most of the items were. Some of the menu items also had a photo that accompanied it, so that was extra helpful. However, their menu is slightly out of date as most of the items I wanted to order were not available when I was there, since it was a weekday. They seem to only have seafood and barbacoa on the weekends. My friends and I ended up getting the al pastor, chicerrones tacos and a burrito. The food is fantastic and I would have wanted to order everything, except then I wouldn't be able to walk around Yosemite. They also have horchata and that was wonderful. I haven't had horchata since going to Spain and this didn't disappoint. It comes in regular or large size, the large is really large, as much as I loved the horchata, I think the large should be a shared sized. I wished we had more time to visit Trujillo once more, but rest assure, I'll be back here when I'm in Madera again. read more

this is my go to when I'm in madera i always get the marinted costillas and asada. Only thing i wouldn't recommend is the guacamole. It was nothing but onion and tomato and it looked like they blended one avacado and mixed it in. read more

This little carniceria never lets us down! No matter what the occasion is holiday or not this place is our go to store for our carne asada or chicken to BBQ. The marinade that they make is amazing and always has you wanting more we always have family asking where we purchased the goods. Trujillos is basically a meat market they have a small taqueria in the store which is pretty good. They do have a few grocery items if you need a last minute thing such as small selection of produce some canned items and non alcoholic beverages. I have not been here in years like 10 years when it was solely a meat market... you have two youngsters at the register saying " Lo ubieras mandado a la verga" over and over, I don't know who they were talking about...Then you have the people over at the hot food area cussing too, Verga is a popular word there. So I ordered the gorditas excited for the queso seco.. and what do it get?... shredded cheese. I say Ummm "excuse me can I have queso seco like it's pictured on the menu?" The kid asks another kid/owner/manager and he said they don't have it... I look to my left and guess what the meat market place that Carries all that goodness (crema,cheese) has some.. mind you I had just seen a worker who made himself an taco walk over there and adds a whole bunch to his own taco! This meat market is the best in town, as far as I am concerned. They also feature prepared food for your enjoyment. You can take-out or eat in either way VERY yummy! Have small produce section and cold drinks as well. Great corner store! I live cross town and do not have a single qualm about visiting them, whenever I am in the mood for great Mexican fast food. When I decide to grill at home for any occasion I definitely go there for the BEST (Bistec de Pollo)! That is a whole deboned chicken marinated in their wonderful spices along with bell pepper and onion. I have not found another carniceria in town that can beat them! Everyone speaks English and are very attentive to your needs. Don't forget the ice! Be sure to pick up some (carbon de mezquite) Mezquite charcoal! This is a traditional mexican food store. It has just about everything. From fresh meat, variety of hot food. Sweet bread, some veggies and so many other stuff. It is a quick stop where you can get in a rush. Customer service is good, I haven't had any issues with bad customer service. Came here one afternoon and ordered a buche burrito. The burrito itself was pretty decent size and the price was around $7.50. I was excited because not many places offer Buche as a meat choice and it smelled amazing however, when into took the first bite I was very disappointed. The buche meat itself was more chewy than any piece of bubble gum I've ever chewed!! Now I have ate buche from all kinds of places but this place really deceived me. Didnt even get halfways through the burrito and couldn't finish it, so so decided to give it to a stray dog and to my surprise he didn't even eat it after sniffing it. My husband and daughter went to buy burritos here for dinner. The lady handed them their food and when they were paying they noticed what appeared to be. Look on the plastic that the burritos were in. My husband thought it may be chili so he payed for the burritos and was leaving. My daughter saw what appeared to be blood and she told my husband that they needed to take the food back because she thought she say the lady had accidentally cut cut herself when she was cutting the ingredients for the burritos. Upon further observation he was convinced that it may have been blood. They took back the burritos and sure enough the lady had cut herself and leaked all over my our wrapped burritos and also another customers burritos that confirmed that he noticed the blood as well. How could that lady allow that food to leave after she knew she was bleeding?!?! Obviously she had to have known because she was leaking everywhere. That was so gross.
