Ok this is one of those 'didn't use the service but have something to say anyway' posts: Called looking for a shop Friday 2:30pm that could do a pre-purchase auto inspection same day on a used car I was interested in buying from a lot on Nolensville Pike. Had seen reviews and Essy seemed widely respected. Gave him a call. He answered and I asked if he could fit me in. He apologized that he couldn't because he was at his daughter's graduation that day but that if I called back Monday he'd see if he could fit me in. I ultimately found another shop nearby that also had good reviews with immediate availability and it was a good experience, but just wanted to say how much I admired Essy answering my call. I felt like he did in case it was an emergency repair situation (it obviously wasn't), which definitely reflects what his customers say about him. And to apologize about his availability bc he was attending a major event for his loved one... being gracious and generous is definitely in his nature. So just wanted to share that :-) read more

Visiting Nashville for the weekend from Atlanta and our car had some weird noises happening on the journey up here. Decided to get it looked at. On our way from FL to IL we noticed grinding with our breaks. Called on a Saturday at 1:00 and they could take us at 2:30. Replaced rear break pads and 2 calibers for $490. Owner showed me what was wrong and why it was good we stopped. Able to get the parts for our minivan on a Saturday afternoon. Back on the road by 5:00. While I hope not to need a car repair place in Nashville again, if I do I'll stop here again. Highly recommend. Plus, there is a Prince's Hot Chicken 1.5 miles down the road...we had lunch there while we waited for our appointment time. There is also some local Mexican restaurants and toco trucks and a DQ and Wendy's within walking distance. read more

Essy had me tow my car to his shop cost 250.00 to get it there n back to look at it 5 mins and tell he couldn't fix it he could have told me that from the pictures then I call for an oil change hung up on me I called back told me he was busy n pretty much to buzz off. I've had very very bad luck with oil changes but Essy was just amazing. I'm new to Nashville and happened to be eating at King Market and needed a oil change and found Essy on Yelp. I didn't even have to wait. It was so fast and just the best experience ever. He was courteous and the inside waiting area was nice with televisions. Even though there were cars all filled up outside, I didn't have to wait on a Friday around noon. And I met other customers native to TN that sang his praises. Great guy & stellar service. I've come here twice and both times I've been treated very well by Essy. The first time I showed up without any warning because my check engine light was on and this place had good reviews. I told him some of the things other mechanics and the dealership I used to go to for repairs said I needed fixed, and he debunked most of them after looking at my vehicle. The repairs he did that day were quick and he did them for free which was very kind and unexpected. The second time I brought it in was after my car failed the emissions test (another last minute appt), so he took a look and told me what I needed to replaced. Both times he was respectful and explained to me what he was doing in a non-condescending way. You should have to be a mechanic to not be taken advantage of and I have felt like my car has been in good hands both times I've taken it to Essy. I will definitely continue to use his shop and I suggest anyone who is looking for a quick, reliable, and trustworthy car mechanic does the same! read more

Did a good job on one of my vehicles, everyone else was either too expensive or was saying they needed it for a week to do the job, he did the work in three days, dash in and out replaced heater control valve, no problems no squeaks. I know dash work is hard but not impossible to do , I have done this work before myself, the dealership is not your only options. Check out this shop. Best mechanic in Nashville. We took two cars in that has "maintenance" lights on for a check up and Essy was thorough and, most importantly, honest about them being fine. The Honda dealership had quoted us over $450 for services they said we needed before even checking the car. I can't say enough about the value of having a great and trustworthy mechanic. read more

Thank you SO much my fellow Yelp'ers - because of all your glowing reviews, I found this jewel of a place when my car broke down at the Emissions testing center (& I was frantically scouring Yelp to find a place for my road-side service to tow to). So my first introduction/interaction w/ Essy is when I arrive w/ the tow-truck & mention to him how bad I feel that I don't have any cash to tip the driver. I SWEAR TO GOD, this lovely man, who I'd JUST met, pulled a $5 bill out of his wallet & gave me to tip the driver!! He diagnosed that my starter was bad & needed replacing. I asked him if he'd also please go ahead & replace my rear window motor, which I'd already been quoted $250 from another shop, and he graciously agreed. When I arrived to pick up my car and pay, my total bill was only $380!!! When I asked why so low, he said that he didn't have to replace my window motor, rather it needed one little part to fix which he said he just picked up at the junkyard for $40. I mean, oh my gosh...he TOTALLY could've charged me for a new motor, which mind you, I TOLD him I needed (& was expecting to pay for). Like so many other reviewers have said, this guy is the real deal. Essy is a genuine, hardworking, HONEST mechanic who has most certainly earned my business. p.s. - my fiance, who hardly likes anyone and trust nearly nobody, was absolutely bowled over by this guy & how well he treated me. My car was stuttering when starting and finally wouldn't start one morning. Essy's was quick to get us in (other places nearby said they couldn't get us in for a week or more). However, the owner insisted there was nothing wrong with my car and told me more than once that the issue must have been that I left a light on in the car and drained the battery. It felt quite patronizing because I knew this was not the case and I kept telling him this. He told me he checked the alternator and the battery and everything was fine. I will say I appreciated that he did not charge me. However, we also found out that my car was parked next door in the public CVS parking lot overnight without our knowledge or consent. We took my car to a different auto place and they immediately told me that wire connecting to my battery was extremely loose. They fixed it very quickly and never acted as if they didn't believe me when I explained the issues I was having. I am not sure how Essy's didn't see that a wire connecting to my battery was nearly disconnected if they did truly check my battery as they told me. It was very frustrating as a woman to feel as though I was not listened to and not believed. read more

I went to Essy several times for oil changes, for which I am still not sure of the caliber of work done. My main concern is the honesty or lack of it. Two years ago, I took my car there when I needed the bumper replaced after someone rear ended me. He completed the repairs, but the bumper never looked right and I actually asked him to reset it. He said he did, but it still did not sit evenly against the rest of the car. About a month ago, someone backed into me and the bumper needed to be replaced again. The repair shop I took it to found out that the absorber for the bumper was simply taped on and damage in the rear body under the bumper was not repaired. This has led to a leak in a my car that I am now having to take care of. He was not honest with me about the work he did and after two years, I am now needing to clean up after he or his staff did not complete the repairs with integrity and to the best of their ability. I know they offer services cheaper than most places in Nashville, but it unfortunately seems that you get what you pay for. read more

I'm not exaggerating when I say this: to me, a single, mechanically-disinclined woman, Essy is one of the major perks of living in Nashville. I'd never realized how important having a good, trustworthy, and fair mechanic really is, but I do now. Not only does he know his stuff, but he's actually a really good guy. He doesn't take advantage of people or overcharge them just because he can get away with it. Think about that for a moment: he CAN lie to people about what's wrong with their car, he CAN overcharge them because everybody else does, but he chooses not to! How refreshing is THAT?! He has a really high standard of morality. He came recommended to me by several people, all unrelated, from totally different circles. Now that he's been my mechanic for a couple of years, I recommend him every chance I get. And everybody I've recommended him to has thanked me for one of the greatest gifts a car owner can have: an honest, reliable mechanic! He is, forever, on my list of things I am grateful for at Thanksgiving. Truly. Doesn't matter what you drive, doesn't even matter if you live an hour away, if you're lucky enough to have learned about the existence of Essy, you've found your new mechanic! Definitely a shady repair shop. They are putting crappy replacement parts that come with a lifetime warranty that literally break into pieces within a few months causing more damage. Then only replace the part for free and charge 1.5 more hours of labor than the job actually costs to replace the "free" part and then won't even give you a warranty on the replacement part since you complained that the replacement should have been free and covered under warranty since they just put the new part on a few months prior. Any good reviews must have been from customers happy with the cheap first visit before their car/parts took a dive and they got fleeced coming back for "free warranties" repair. read more

Called Essy to see if there was space to have my car towed in. Upon arrival I started to freak because there was seemingly no space to park, let alone have a car dropped by the tow truck. Next thing I know this man is sprinting around, tetrising the holy crap out of some automobiles. Cleared a path straight in to one of his bays. Immediately began diagnosing the problem, quickly arriving on a theory. After stating what he believed was occurring, he actually listened to my response which led him to backtrack on his diagnosis and proceed looking for a different culprit. At this point I left the auto shop figuring I would hear back in a few days, with a several hundred dollar tab waiting for me. Low and behold later that day at about 6:30pm, when his hours ends at 6pm mind you, I receive a call from Mr Essy himself asking if I would like to come pick up my vehicle as it was ready. Before leaving the shop, Good Sir Essy took me to my vehicle, showed me what he did to get the auto working, and then showed me the controller I would need to replace to restore horn function. Instead of replacing the part himself, he actually passed the savings on to me. What mechanic does that? I have now found my mechanic going forward. We had a "Check Engine" light on our 2007 Mercedes, and we came here to have it looked at. Most other places wouldn't touch it or would charge almost a hundred dollars just to look at the car. Essy reset it for free (to verify it wasn't a computer problem). When we had to return because the light had come back, they were able to repair the sensor that had malfunctioned quickly and for a reasonable price. The guy at the desk was friendly and offered good advice without digging for more work/money. We will definitely be returning here for future service. read more

My car's a/c has been leaking freon, so I've been "topping it off" until I can get it to my hometown mechanic. Traveling to a business conference in Nashville this week, and it is hotter than soup outside!! I found Essy on Yelp, being one of few auto shops open past 5. (It's says they're opened til 7 - but it's actually 6!) Called, asked about freon, told him I'd be ~6:15. He actually waited for me to arrive!!! Roberto was quick, pleasant, & professional as he added freon. Essy was friendly, helpful, fair - and available!!! Upon checkout, the price was comparable to that of my hometown mechanic (who has done my work for years). They do all types of body & engine work, including paint & glass replacement.
