I was so excited to see The Med Deli makes its return to Chapel Hill. This was always my daughter's fav place when she was a student years ago. The place was packed! And the line out the door was brimming with excitement. I ordered the classic Gyro and the pita was so soft and fresh and the beef cooked just right. The Gyro was piled high with beef and sauce. Our order took a minute but well worth the wait and the staff was hustling. They have really spruced up the place with new additions and the vibe was positive with the reopening. I look forward to returning as the food is fantastic.

What a classic Chapel Hill spot!! Such good healthy food. At a great price as well! Always impressed every time I go here.

My husband and I were in town and he has a lot of nostalgia surrounding this restaurant. The location is clean and airy with lots of seating. You order at the cashier and they bring their food to you. There were so many options and the display was amazing! I got the lamb platter and it was a huge portion! Mine came with 2 sides, and there were so many sides you could choose from, which was both great and a bit overwhelming but in a good way since you can see it all on display! My husband got the soujouk fatayer and I was so surprised he managed to finish as it was bigger than his face! The food was food and came out at a decent time so definitely worth a visit! They also have a complimentary condiments bar too which is nice as well!

We took our family here and selected several platters and treats. Wonderful food. So glad you have re-opened.

It is a family owned restaurant, which I love. She politely said we could still order and eat inside. It was 2:00pm. We were the only ones inside the restaurant. It is decorated with items from Egypt. Paintings of pharaohs and pyramids. A few people came in to grab their to go orders. She explained that since the pandemic, they do more take out than dine in. We tried the hummus and pita, which was delicious. She mentioned their falafel was one of their best items, so I had to try it. It came with four pieces. They were piping hot and so good. I dipped them in the hummus. I also ordered the chicken kabab (marinated chicken with peppers, onions, and tomatoes over their homemade rice. I asked for no tomatoes and the beef shawarma plate with a Greek salad and tahini sauce. The food was good. I loved the Greek salad with big chunks of tomatoes. The chicken kabab (which she did explain did not come in a skewer) was a bit dry. I dipped it in the hummus. It lacked a bit of presentation. Something that took me by surprise was that we were given our food on paper plates, with paper cups and plastic forks, even though we were eating inside the restaurant. Not sure if it's the same for all lunch and/or dinner. The owner is very nice and I truly appreciated her letting us eat there even though it was close to closing hour. I took the rest of the hummus and pita to go so they could close at 2:30pm. Overall, great experience and good food.

It is very much a hole in the wall and I have passed this place many times not realizing it was even there. It was a little bit hard to find as well because its storefront is so small. Overall, the food was pretty good, the portion sizes were decent and I think my favorite part was probably the pita bread. The lady at the front was very nice and the service was quick late at night. However, the actual building itself needs a little bit of a cleanup or renovation. Walls with marks and stains, seats, whose cushions are slightly cut up or damaged Not sure I would necessarily be back again, but we had someone that had dietary restrictions and so that's why we came.

The picture alone looked amazing, so after reading their menu and some reviews I had to give them a try. Came in looking near picture perfect (look at that wrap!). It was seriously well constructed, which is something you really don't notice unless it's bad. First bite got a touch of everything and to my sadness, meh ‍. The bread was great, and really carried the whole sandwich (lolol). The veggies were bright and fresh, there was a phenomenal pickle (needed more), and the meat was alright. Classic seasoning on the meat, but so classic it just came off as generic. Now the make or break is always the sauce, and they smothered this mother in their house tzatziki. Where. Is. The. Garlic. I was so disappointed! Everything about it was great, but I swear to you there was no garlic added at all. I'd definitely be willing to give another menu item a try again, because the Gyro was tasty, just extremely generic.

Excellent selection of Arab / Middle Eastern / Mediterranean / Asian goods. They have a great variety of both the standard staples, such as chick peas, bread, seasonings, yogurts, cheeses, frozen goods, and other raw or prepared ingredients, but also have more nuanced items you might not have seen in a long time had you grown up elsewhere and moved to the US. I don't have to go and order things online anymore. Additionally they have a butcher that has fresh meats that are also halal if you're Muslim. I haven't ever had their meats, and am not Muslim, but I know where to go if I need lamb or goat on special occasions. They don't really have produce beyond some shelf stable items, but that excluded, it's pretty much an oasis. Finally, the store is kept clean, well stocked, and organized. I've never been in there with items I need missing. They recently did a facelift on the front of the store and it looks awesome, very modern and inviting. The owners and their sons are super friendly, extremely kind, even offering to special order things I ask about, and are always in a helpful / cheerful mood! Would HIGHLY recommend stopping in to anyone looking for things they need, or just wanting to see what a Middle Eastern store looks like!
