    The world's last pay phone!
    Scott P.

Oh the Mile... how much I love you and your rough-around-the-edges charm... Originally located in Haddon Township and called The Irish Mile, they moved to Runnemede a few years ago and went a little more upscale. They still retain their dive bar essence, however. Home to what I believe is the world's last pay phone. I get here a few times a year, most recently to watch the Eagles game yesterday with my girlfriend. The man to our left at the bar was high as a kite and reeked of pot, while the woman to our right was about 90 and dumped a bud light bottle into a pint glass filled with ice, took a few sips and left. I'm a major beer lover and I've always appreciated the Mile's beer list. 36 beers on tap yesterday and 17 of them were NJ beers, with a few more from just over the river in PA. The menu is standard pub fare, all decent food but no major standouts from what I've had over the years. The center bar is nice with 360 degree seating, and an adjacent dining room. The staff are always friendly and patient in my experience. Overall a nice, neighborhood bar with great beer and a whole lot of charm.

My dad and I were having a wacky Wednesday and were in the mood for a new wing adventure. The Mile has been on my radar for their 75-cent wing special, so we went to check it out. First off, I love the atmosphere and vibe. It has a small town bar and brewery feel to it. They have a really nice tap beer list that includes many local breweries. Glasses were clean, the beer was poured nicely and had a good head, and they were cold, up for that. Onto the wings. Like falling asleep at Gunnison Beach, they were naked and extra crispy. We got honey bbq, hot garlic parm, creamy hot, mango habanero, and regular bbq. By far, our favorite sauce was the hot garlic parm. The fries were perfectly cooked and were great to dip into the excess wing sauces and blue cheese. We enjoyed our meal, especially on a deal this good. The rest of their menu looks good too, especially the burgers. Service was attentive and helpful as well. If you're a local, check this spot out. If you need a good wing deal for a Wednesday, go enjoy some 75-cent wings!

Great time tonight- fun and tasty appetizers - loved the burgers and tacos - super draft beer selection. And they let us taste to decide our order! Very friendly and warm place . And great funnel fries to finish.

I've been to The Mile a few times now over the past couple of years and have had a great time on each and every visit. Their beer list is super extensive and features lots of local Jersey beers. They also have a solid can and bottle list and even had Heady Topper on my last visit - a legendary beer that can be hard to find. But beer ain't the only thing The Mile does right. The menu is stacked with apps, sandwiches, pizza, wings, and even tacos. Their wings are some of the best in the area - fried to a golden brown and bathed in plenty of delicious sauce. The fries are hot and crisp. The white pizza is a delicious blend of cheese, garlic and spinach. Get it! The prices are incredibly reasonable. Plus the wait staff is always friendly and on top of their game. The Mile is also a great spot to catch a game as there are TVs located throughout both the bar area and restaurant. What can I say? There is no reason not to go the extra mile and pay them a visit.

When walk through the door, you know you're in the right place if you like craft beer. You're instantly greeted with a wall of 36 signs hanging above oak barrels showcasing what is currently on tap. Prices on drafts are a little on the high side, but I guess everything is expensive right now. The menu had the typical array of bar food. I had a burger (double patty, very good) and my wife went with three tacos (for taco Tuesday $3 each). She said the shrimp and brisket were excellent, chicken just ok. We will definitely be back to try out more of the beer list and the menu.

Ask the Community - The Mile

Hi, my fiancé and I are looking for a place to hold our engagement party, would there be any part of the restaurant that we could rent out for it? Thanks!

Yes, there is an upstairs part with a bar as well as a section downstairs in the back for private parties

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

One of the most fun things on the menu is their chicken "thumbs," which are shaped like little hands -- I wish I took a picture because they're great and definitely something you don't see everywhere. Service can be a little hit or miss, but not because the staff isn't working hard -- it's a big place and when it gets busy, it really gets busy, and they sometimes seem a bit understaffed for the rush. That said, everyone is always very friendly, which makes a big difference and keeps the experience positive. They also have a huge bar with several beers on tap, great specialty drinks, and drink specials, so it's a great place to hang out with friends and have a good time. Overall, definitely worth a visit. Just maybe don't go if you're in a big rush -- go when you have time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and have a good meal.

My foodie bestie and I added Kid Rips to our must try list years ago and finally got around to…read moretrying it. Parking was a challenge on a Friday night as every space was full and turning around in the back lot involves making a k turn around the other vehicles who are also looking for a spot. We ended up parking down the street and walking over. We were seated immediately, as the bar has ample seating, both high tops and regular tables. My bff wasn't in the mood for a cocktail so we opted for Arnold palmers. Now, I am a HUGE avocado fan and I had heard about their infamous avocado fries so I was super excited about trying them. That may or may not have been the main reason for my visit. The avocado fries are fresh large slices of avocado breaded in panko and fried with a sweet and tangy spicy mayo sauce. I loved them but my bff wasn't as excited. He informed me he isn't a huge fresh avocado fan, so this one is for the avocado lovers. We also opted for the chicken parm rollers which is described as "Chicken mixed with ricotta cheese, herbs and spices rolled in panko breadcrumbs served with house made marinara and shaved parmesan" - they are chicken meatballs. We expected something else and now that we've had them and I re-read the description I'm not sure what we had in mind but it wasn't this. They were just okay. I think if they were placed on a plate with seasoned whipped ricotta and drizzled with pesto it could boost the flavor experience. For our entrees my bff got the chicken strips with the sweet and sassy sauce and I opted for the KO burger. My KO burger was delicious. The seeded brioche bun was buttery and fresh and the burger itself was flavorful. The fries were also fantastic. Fresh cut and sprinkled with a sweet seasoning, I didn't even feel the need to add ketchup or a side of aioli or anything. They were perfect. I didn't try my bffs chicken tenders but the sweet and sassy sauce tasted just like buffalo sauce. Pretty sure it was the wrong sauce but he didn't say anything to our server so that's on us. If you are looking for a bar to hang out and watch sports, get a drink, and have a great burger, I'd recommend this place - but maybe uber there.
