This review is not specifically for the food itself, but for the manager, the staff and the service. We got here right when they just opened for lunch on a Friday. We didn't have reservations, but they get us seated right away. My girls were tired and hungry so they started to cry. Some other people from the tables around us showed some irritation. I told the manager and staff to pack our foods to go because I feel bad for making people feel uncomfortable with my crying children. The manager reassured us that we were fine. She even brought the girls some fruits while we waited for our food. We ended up taking our food to go, however we appreciate the thoughtfulness. We definitely will be back!

The outside patio is really magical. Just a very beautiful spot. My husband had The Rachel and I had a killer blt. It had thick sliced pork on a brioche bun with a slice of an heirloom tomato. Just delectable. The Rachel is just a Reuben sandwich with corned beef instead of pastrami. It was excellent as well. We had no room for dessert.

Amazing and attentive service. A great place to celebrate all occasions, and you're in wine country, but less pretentious than Napa. We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and can't wait to come back to celebrate more happy times together. Staff hustle and bustle here. There's plenty of parking in their lot. Get the pork chop, very succulent. Last time the gorgeous patio was not open; it is now. The little walk through the mill is so cute with mini waterfalls flowing through the creek and birds chirping. They have a decent menu of cocktails, beer and wines...never an empty glass of water btw. They have Della Fattoria bread FTW! Who doesn't love Della Fattoria fresh breads, not really a question! Their desserts are divine and always worth saving some room for. The presentation of the food is colorful - everything is made with love. 'Til next time ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

Filet-cooked pretty well but not sure it was worth the price

Came here for Mother's Day and unfortunately it did not meet the star ratings on yelp. Granted, the menu did warn us upon sitting that it's hard to find staff and that the wait maybe a little long. That being said, it took about 2 hours to get our food. Other tables seated after us got their food before we did. My husband's $45 pork chop was thin and dry. My filet was pretty good but nothing special given the price of $65. The servers were all super kind and working very hard which is why more than one star, but I can't say the food was worth the wait unfortunately. Be sure to ask to sit outside-it seems to have a beautiful deck with great tree cover. We were inside and there were flies buzzing about.

Our group of 6 were touring Sonoma Valley and selected The Mill as our lunch spot. We made reservations ahead for their outdoor patio, and our table was already ready for us when we arrived. The outdoor patio was perfect for the lovely sunny day. Large umbrellas provided shade while the many plants and decor on the patio, and the greenery surrounding the patio, gave a charming vibe. The wait staff was terrific. The server explained the menu and recommended customers' favorites. Our group had their wonderful clam chowders, caesar salad, fire oven pizzas, and wagyu burgers. We loved that where we were sharing dishes, the kitchen thoughtfully split the entree or appetizer into separate plates/bowls. I think they also increased the portions a little as well which was really generous of them. The chowder and burgers were really good as our server promised. We enjoyed a nice sunny afternoon without feeling rushed. We would come back again for the terrific food and great service.

A cold brisk afternoon off for an anniversary day drive through the mayacamas vineyards... arriving at the Jack London building and the old mill.. to have lunch at the oldest structure ... in the area "the mill" circa 1839. Surprisingly delicious food ( very vegetarian pescatarian friendly) in the middle of a very quaint town outside of the downtown Sonoma area. We enjoyed the stellar service, and delicious food in a beautiful setting in the forest and old mill surrounded by a delightful sculpture walk ( wheelchair accessible) 1. Creamy red bell pepper soup 2. mixed seasonal salad garnished with edible flowers 3. della fattoria sourdough bread with garlic olive oil and parmesan 4. Entree : potato cakes and crisped vegetables atop a grain medley ! Delicious with a crisp pepper and hot oil infusion paste. 5. Basque Cheesecake fresh berries Unbelievable tasty ! Unforgettable service. Thank you Dana Jaffe and staff for an unbelievable afternoon meal! note: Dana Jaffe is also a gifted jewelry artist utilizing "clay molds" ... breathtaking

Veggie pizza 2/5; supposed to be their most popular pizza /:

My friends and I are confused by how highly rated this restaurant is. Food was below average tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. Service was amazing. Everyone was so attentive and so sweet. The environment was beautiful and cozy. Loksa: 3.5/5 the udon noodles had a weird texture. They should be pretty smooth and bouncy but this one tasted overcooked? Or maybe the noodles were sitting in the soup for too long. Veggie pizza: 3/5 absolutely nothing special about this pizza. The breading just broke apart, like a stale piece of bread. The cheese had no flavor tomato sauce just tasted straight out of a tomato paste can. Overall, I felt like everything we ordered was pretty bland in flavor. Disappointed, especially with how steep the prices.

This is a hidden gem, which should rightfully deserve much more recognition. The atmosphere, staff and service, and food hit every mark I'd expect at a high end restaurant. Stopped in for a birthday dinner for my birthday weekend and truly felt like a king. Right from the start, we were greeted by friendly staff and promptly seated. Before even getting settled in, we were offered fresh cucumber and lemon infused ice water, and like clockwork, our wonderful waitress, Alex, gave us a quick run down of the menu and top hits. We ended up ordering the bread, Brussels sprouts, clam chowder, and pork chops. Every dish was fresh, tasted amazing, and had the presentation of an upscale restaurant. Even the birthday treat and celebration by the whole staff made me feel warm, welcomed, and appreciated. Throughout the entire service, the staff consistently checked in on us to clear plates and ensure our experience met expectations - which they certainly did! Highly recommend stopping here!

    Seasonal Tomato Salad

The Mill has such a rustic and warm charm with staff that gives it soul and life; Split Pea soup was comforting and packed with nutritious deliciousness! Seasonal Tomato Salad was drizzled with a beautiful balsamic glaze which complimented sweetness of the fresh tomatoes. Indian-Inspired Rice Pudding with coconut milk, pistachios, etc and cardamom infused flavors was perfect ending to our lunch experience at The Mill. The added birthday candle to the dessert was such a delightful surprise. First (and certainly not our last) culinary experience at The Mill.

    The crispy tofu- so good

Such a lovely setting for a restaurant. We wanted to sit outside with all the greenery but no tables were available. The interior is well designed and we were pleased with sitting there. Our service could not have been any better. Due to confusion with a reservation, the manager comped part of our order. The bread that is crisped and dipped in olive oil with Parmesan is to die for. My friend enjoyed their black bean soup very much - loads of veggies and not too chick. My Caesar salad was a bit blah although large- I was unable to finish. I sampled my friend's crispy tofu and it was scrumptious. I'd like to return and sit on the patio on my next visit.

Red beans with vegetables, radish, avocado (made with a cheese broth) SOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!
    Jess C.

Holy moly, this red beans with vegetables, radish, and avocado was one of the best soups I've ever IN MY LIFE. It's made with a cheese broth, and it blew our minds. My husband is licking his bowl as I type this lol! Their warm Della fattoria with crumbled Parmesan and butter is indeed, amazing. Dip that in the red bean soup!! *mind blown* We haven't gotten our house pizza yet but I can't imagine it being any less than epic. So thankful we came here!!! Yummmmm!!! Our waitress Alex is a the absolute sweetest, too! All the staff so far actually. Love the vibes as well. Miiiight order that soup again lol

This place totally lives up to the reviews - wow! Highlights: -Ambiance - gorgeous patio with a bubbling brook and peaceful setting -Service - extremely accommodating of our toddler with a booster seat and seating us right away without a reservation as we were ahead of the dinner rush. Very attentive throughout dinner and happy to modify dishes -Kid's menu: brioche grilled cheese for the little one, with several other options -Tons of vegan options - the menu has symbols to make it clear what can easily be made vegan Wish I'd gotten more photos: the masala potato patties were a standout, and the house pizza with vegan cheese was delicious. The tofu appetizer and house salad were also tasty. Can't recommend enough!

Lovely place to stop for lunch, by the river. The restaurant is located at an actual old mill, and the whole setting is charming. Inside is cozy with a fireplace. And outside you can eat on the deck and hear the river. Every server I encountered was helpful and friendly. I ate the wagyu burger and my girlfriend enjoyed the clam chowder. Both were delicious. I'd love to come back.

Tucked into the tiny postage-stamp hamlet of Glen Ellen, it's a small, busy spot with a cozy dining room, some outdoor tables with blankets & inside seats at a chef's counter. We chose the counter, which is a front row seat to their open kitchen. Dinner and a show! It was recommended by locals as the place they grab dinner in the area. We started with panzanella salad with lemon cucumber, ripe heirloom tomatoes and crusty bread. We ordered the daily pasta with corn, cream, mushrooms, microgreens and roasted, fermented tomato. We had a side of brussels sprouts baked in maple syrup, topped with a generous amount of chopped bacon, and served in a cast iron pan. Their white pizza had a wood fired crust and was topped with a white sauce, sausage, smoked mozzarella, kale (a pretty light application), and confit garlic. Many vegetables are coming from Mike Benziger's Glentucky Family Farm. We ate too, at Glen Ellen Star's sister restaurant, Stella, earlier in the week, and the connection between the two is clear: fresh, local ingredients, confident cooking and an authentic Sonoma feel.

They have a kitchen, gelato shop, and a small market located in the tasting room. The gelato shop and kitchen were pointed out to us from a far, but we did get to explore the marketplace and the fun goodies in there. Along with the deli case food items, they also had jarred pastas and sauces to go. The piazza was a cool area, but on a hot day I was glad we were tasting inside with all the heat from the cement. They had some areas under a trellis that were nice and fully shaded, that would be my go to if tasting outside here.
