I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

We like the Classic burger and BBQ burger, and you absolutely can't go wrong with the smoked mozzarella cheese on top! The house burger spread and the creamy bbq spread are both amazing. Just one request - please bring back the bacon jam! It was so good and I miss it! The fries basket is large enough to split between two people. They are served very hot and go so well with the sauces that come with the burger. Plenty of seating outside, with a small bar to sit inside. I wish there was more indoor seating for the colder months. The outdoor patio is perfect for the summer. Each burger is cooked to order, so it takes some time but it is worth the wait! These burgers aren't cheap, so definitely savor every bite. The butcher shop is great as well. We are big fans of the bourbon tri-tip. Prices have gone up recently (as with everything else). A trip here is not cheap but it's very tasty and worth a visit!

This spot is unique because they sell fresh raw meat and seafood, but they also serve burgers, sandwiches, and more. The ordering process is simple: you place your order at the cashier, receive a buzzer, and pick up your food from the side window when it's ready. They have plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect for enjoying your meal. We all ordered the classic burger with different cheese options. Overall, the burgers were juicy, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. I'm glad I finally made it here and got to try this place! :)

I will say that I am a sucker for shopping at "WinCo Foods" as I have been a frequent shopper of…read morethem for the past few decades. And this one is absolutely no exception! Located directly off of S. Virginia St and adjacent to S. Meadows Pkwy in the southern part of Reno, this is one of three locations in the Reno metropolitan area (with the other two stores in north Reno and Sparks). The parking lot is actually quite spacious with ample room to get in and out to the main road. During my visit which was on Friday 7/3/2026 at around 1:30pm, it was fairly busy but the store itself had a great open layout. Those of you that don't know this about WinCo Foods is that they are a private employee-owned company. Prices are probably the best you will find anywhere other than Costco but here you won't get the massive crowds that Costco experiences on any given day. Keep in mind that WinCo only accepts cash, debit cards, and Apple Pay/Google Pay as they do not take credit cards of any kind. Also, you must bag your own groceries but this is their trademark to all of their locations in the western United States. I do want to add that since this is the state of Nevada, this WinCo actually has a small dedicated area (towards the front) where slot machines are available. This is great for those that want to avoid the hustle and bustle of going to an actual casino. In addition to that, they also have an area where alcohol is sold, a customer service area (where you can buy cigarettes, money orders, money transfers, payroll check cashing, and much more). Public restrooms are also available towards the front area of the supermarket. As for the store itself, much of the produce (fruit/veggies) was very fresh and well stocked. They also carry a huge assortment of bulk foods (nuts, rice, pasta, flour, candy, etc.). an amazing variety of meat & poultry, a dedicated bakery and deli section, and just about everything else you can think of. I find their selection to be much better than other big box grocery stores as this place always carries what I am looking for. Best of all, they are open 24 hours. When I made all my purchases, I went to the self check-out aisle (as they accept cash, debit, or tap-to-pay). The whole process was seamless and easy. All in all, the south Reno "WinCo Foods" gets a respectable four-star rating.

Not only was I able to find what I needed but also a few I didn't need but wanted. What really surprised me was the renovation going on. New freezers and refrigerators are being installed. The layout of some of the isles is being improved and the store feels more open and easier to navigate. I look forward to seeing it all completed.
