I have so many great memories here. I met Union Underground here, heard many great bands, and I've headbanged the night away on Metal Mondays. The Mix has a great local neighborhood chill vibe, and the drinks are very reasonable. Bathrooms are a bit scary and look like something out of Saw but hey it's an old dive bar...so I guess part of the charm? The staff has always been friendly and attentive even when stupid busy. They have a cool lounge by the pool tables with a leather sofa that I like to sink into. I was sad to see the little private room in the back with the loungers and TV'S gone. I adored that room for chatting with the interesting people I would meet here in a space that reminded me of my highschool bestie's livingroom.

Great atmosphere, free to minimal cover charge. I went on Tues night for amateur poetry night. The DJ was really good. The drinks were cheap. Encouraging crowd. I like how there's plentiful space and different areas to sit. The decor is different too, very eye catchy. Everyone is chill and friendly.

If you're looking for a no-frills kick-ass brew selection mix (pun sort of intended) and match good time, this is an absolutely fabulous place to start. Mix (if you will) one part easygoing and sharp barstaff, a twist of enigmatic if comfortably friendly regulars, shake with a bar band or two, throw a heavy pour in there and you know what I'm talking about. All they're missing are the sleeping bags. I could have forwarded my mail here and been perfectly okay for awhile. Bathed in blue light with a side room full of pool tables, The MIx is just what it purports to be: a mix of friends and soon to be extended family, wrapped in the warm embrace of tonight, surrounded by the possibility of expanding smiles in the offing. I can't in all honesty say that I've spent countless nights here, 'cause that wouldn't be true. But these guys get the best part of what being a neighborhood staple is. And whether you're a bar or a friend, there will always be something special about that idea.

I really dig this bar. This was my first time visiting San Antonio and it's a breath of fresh fucking air to find a good bar with cold beer, strong drinks and no bullshit. Place is divey but that just adds to the charm. They have a DJ that spins good tunes and a pool table as well, so always a plus. It's in a good location as well, so make sure to hit up the food trucks.

Pizza was great, but the buffalo wings were way too hot to be enjoyable. I have an extremely high tolerance and no one could eat them!

I know it and I…read morewas super excited to see Slow Ride come up as an option for me and my sister to pop in and catch up over some drinks. Parking along the street is free (along the fence line of Sam Houston) and was not an issue even for a holiday. There is a paid parking lot that is secure and available too so note that if ever you have an issue finding a good spot. Walking into Slow Ride is like walking into your tio's (uncle) or a grandpa's cool, 70's/80;s vibey, and home-y bar. This is the kind of spot where every picture you take of yourself, or your friends, will look like you took it in the 80's! This is not a bad thing either. Seriously. It IS A VIBE here! Cushy seats at the bar was my favorite spot to hang out while we had some cold beers and a shot to go alongside it too. They have beer and shot combos here around $8. You get plenty of choices on beer and liquor of choice. I opted for a tallboy Lonestar and a small shot of the Mexican Candy. My sister got a Live Oak Hefe in a can (she likes Blue Moon so this was the closest thing to it and she liked it!) and later a Shiner in a bottle. I also decided to close out with a daiquiri that was super delicious and offered in nice glassware. Patio out in the back is spacious and a great spot to hang out with a group of friends. The back space is taken care of and has a modern look to it out there. I can see it being a nice vibe outside on a pretty day too. Jukebox is legit! All great music selections from all genres on CDs and pretty cheap too to play 5-8 songs. The artwork around here is worth a look around too. I love all the unique Garfield toys surrounding the bar area too. All of the back bar is so great with the wooden shelving and lighting too. You can see many honorable nods to those who currently or have served. It's a great thing to see especially so close to Sam Houston. One thing I have a pet peeve on is any service bar who has to keep my card on file. I am the worst person who won't remember so I have to be extra careful when bars keep my card. I usually walk and don't mind paying the 20+% tab walk fee but I do want my card back so I have to get everyone who is with me to remind me to go get it. That's why I am giving it 4 stars. I am looking forward to coming back in the future and bringing some more family and friends, though. This spot is so nostalgic and their social is super active and will promote DJs and sets happening that week and into the weekend. Go check them out and play some pool. You're gonna feel like you are in a Matthew McConaughey movie when you do. Tell me I am wrong!!!

Starting off I want to give props to DJ Sriracha with the k-pop tunes. I can tell they're a seasoned K-pop listener as all the jams they played were a hit and really kept the event lively!
