Been going to the Mont for decades, while I was at OU for what seemed an eternity, and now whenever we're passing through Norman. Dr. Lacumba's Nuclear Nachos are almost an entree, but the sandwiches and sides are awesome too. Back in the day there was now outdoor eating, but that's really nice addition. Everybody is a fan of The Mont and the swirl. Sitting outside on a hot summer night under the mister is a good, relaxing thing to do. Sitting inside is not nearly as nice, as the restaurant (they serve food?) tends to get loud and cramped (no good traffic flow). I wanted to give it 4 stars, because I didn't really care for for the crowd. My experience was 3 stars, but I'm giving it the 4th star because the outdoor seating looks great - it was a little too cold when I was there. Get their signature swirl (sangria) margarita - yum! Food is basic appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, Tex-Mex, and some comfort food entrees. Queso is good. Enchiladas are good. TVs for watching sports. If you're a smoker, they have a glass walled-off room for that - maybe the bar area? Good place. read more

I enjoyed the environment. It reminded me of living in Europe with a small rustic look and feel. This place is definitely a college place with a lot of people. The service was okay, the lady took a while to come back to us so that we can place our food order and some of the people around us were very loud and distracting. The food was reasonably priced and so was their alcohol. The pulled-pork sliders were amazing and filling. I had the cheeseburger basket and the burger was good, it did not stand out from other burgers I've had but was good for the price. I would go back to this place. read more

Lives up to its reputation. The drinks are good, the swirl is special, and the patio is unbelievable. The food's good for bar food, and though it may not be worth waiting during prime dinner rush, early- or late-evening it's easy to get in and enjoy a nice night. The only downside to the Mont is the waitstaff, which tend to be undermotivated college students; but if you can put aside some subpar service, it's a great place to grab a drink with friends. read more

as I live in norman this is a good place to go to every couple of years. I did a b.day party for a friend with 22 people and generally everyone enjoyed it the food is quantity wise really good quality wise average I will agree it is more of a bar and the drinks are good here. the wife and I split a Mexican meal and brought home left overs so No complaints service as I booked the oak room was good read more

Okay this is weird. If the Mont didn't serve food, it would be 5 stars. The food actually takes stars away. You're like, "how can food be less than one star?" It actually takes stars away. If you have eaten at the Mont, you know what I'm talking about. And if you've cooked at the Mont, you know I'm being nice. But why would you eat there? This is the best bar in Oklahoma, with the best patio in the world. The signature "Swirls" are refreshing and the tropical rainforest mist is intoxicating. . . or is it the other way around? Oh yeah, its definitely the other way around! The Swirl is a frozen drink so strong I think you could set it on fire. If that is not your style, there are 151 other ways to get your drink on, which I believe is still quasi-legal in OK. The service is top notch. And by top notch I mean typically really sexy women, who work hard, may or may not have a good attitude, and are adept at handling the fact that a large number of men will most likely profess their love for them and/or want to play a round of mental or physical grab-ass on a nightly basis. I recommend nachos if you find yourself so hungry (or. . . ahem. . . drunk) that you have to eat. I also guess I should clarify. . . the food is not DANGEROUS. . . the kitchen was ALWAYS CLEAN. . . its just that the food is. . .so not good. If I want to eat anything I'll eat my ice. The place has atmosphere. Unfortunately there are a lot of flies that come around when the food is served if you sit outside. The margarita on the rocks was watered down and not very good. The salsa was delicious and fresh. The chicken tacos lacked flavor. read more

They refused to change the TV to something other than the OSU game on the outdoor patio. I asked if the owners were OSU fans and they told me they support ALL Oklahoma teams. Basically they are saying we support OSU. Enough said, we are taking our business elsewhere. read more

The best character in Norman without a doubt. It's probably the best bar in Oklahoma depending on what you like in a bar. It's most famous for its patio, located just down the street from the football stadium and looking like it's in the middle of a misting jungle. They are also known for their swirls and amazing queso. The swirl is a trendy and strong frozen drink that is pretty much a staple of Norman. The inside is a converted house, complete with fireplace. It has a somewhat dark tint, complete with stained glass lighting. It makes for a great place to go with friends and waste a few hours. read more

The good: delicious swirls, good atmosphere, nice big patio. The bad: the freaking food is awful here,I mean really bad. I've had sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, salads..... Pretty much have tried everything in an attempt to find something tasty on the menu. Over the years I get dragged here about 3 times I year. If you are just going to drink then the mont is acceptable. It's a "classic" apparently. But as someone who did not go to OU undergrad I feel like it's a tad overrated. But bottom line stay away if you enjoy decent food, but if you want to get wasted on swirls go for it (if you can find a spot in their tiny parking lot). read more

Parking is a bit crazy with huge pickup trucks and small cars all over the place. Patio was open but we went inside. Long story short: food was great, nachos with pulled pork were amazing, burger was good, and the tilapia was great. However, service left something to be desired. There was only one waitress inside (would it kill the ones that kept going by us to check on us?) Would appreciated someone coming by and refilling my coffee instead of me asking every time. Once people started coming inside, management should have added more people but, nope. Also ... a bit of music could have calmed the noise inside. Just saying. read more

Just moved to the area less than a year ago and finally tried The Mont for the first time this last week (we went twice in one week) - food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. Maybe we just haven't tried the right thing yet. I got the mushroom and swiss burger and the meat was very bland. The artichoke dip was pretty good, as were the nachos. The fried mushrooms weren't the best I've ever had, but I would still get them again. Overall the service was pretty good. The hostesses were never overly friendly. The smoking on the patio was a huge downer, though - it definitely keeps us non-smokers from enjoying our experience to the fullest. That was probably the most disappointing thing. read more

The mont disappointed me and some of its most loyal customers tonight. The manager was extremely rude and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable by pulling me aside and telling me it was me and my parties fault for all of the mistakes our waitress made. She then proceeded to tell me how "great our server is" when our server, Mackenzie, quote on quote said "well we will see what comes out," after being overwhelmed from our drink order?? No food hahaha just drinks (so naturally our order comes out wrong and then we are awkwardly forced to try and pay for it because the manager thinks we are lying about what we consumed??). Piece of advice, avoid Mackenzie and if there's issues the manager will blame you. Completely ruined our experience and feel very disrespected. Would have recommended the mont to anyone until today. I literally lived at The Mont when I was in school. I'm not exactly sure how I always made it home but I never had any problems getting there!! I'm sure every review has mentioned the swirl, which is definitely the cheapest buzz in Norman. More than two always made me sick to my stomach. Which is why you need to try the brandy ice. Not the best brandy ice in the world but they do a decent job and very few bars will make it. Almost all of the food is pretty meh, even for a bar, but I was always a fan of the reuben and the cheese fries. (you can order a 1/2 order of the cheese fries if you want to avoid being sick). I suggest getting to know the waitstaff and hosts if you go frequently. I knew almost all of them by name and I rarely waited for a table even when there was a long wait, got free drinks, free shots, free food and excellent service. Cheers! BTW, if you get bored you can play The Mont Bingo Drink if... someone honks, someone yells, a train goes by, an emergency vehicle goes by, there is a wreck, and I'm sure there are more but it has been too long. read more

Had the Mont burger (basic bacon cheeseburger), chips and salsa and opted for a side of mac n cheese instead of fries per the waitress' recommendation. Standard bar fare and Mexican favorites complement the atmosphere, but this wouldn't be my first choice to eat dinner in Norman. We often go for after dinner drinks or just appetizers. Honestly... this place is a bit over rated. Their drinks are fine, but almost not worth it if you're not getting a swirl. I've given this place a lot of chances and have to just order swirls going now. I've ordered tacos and they were terrible. The tortilla wasn't warm, it was literally just super dry ground meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Very basic and not good at all. I ordered the queso which was bad. It was melted cheese that took about 5 seconds to harden. The trip to torchys is worth it for quality queso. The fried pickles are pretty good though. read more

I love the queso and wings, but that's about it. The place is dark and smells smoky. I'm sure their servers are nice people, but they are stretched extremely thin, which results in poor service. Their food is not very good besides the appetizers. It's ideal for 21st birthdays because their drinks are kinda bad, so you don't know any better. They just aren't mixed well. But it is a fun place. I wouldn't recommend taking your out-of-town family here (because Norman has MUCH better food to offer), but it is a nice place for a night on the town with friends. read more

BEST PATIO AND FROZEN DRINK IN ALL THE SOONER LAND! This restaurant is a Norman staple. They are great in every way. Their patio is my favorite of all time, it's where you will find all the locals out enjoying the weather on a beautiful day and where you will find all the out of towners fighting for tables on OU game days! The Swirl (frozen sangria and margarita mix) is their signature drink and you will not find a better one around! They have other wonderful frozen drinks and a full bar, plus some great food. They have some indoor seating, but it always seems more limited than the patio. Interesting fact: People sign and write messages in the books on the back shelf inside the restaurants. read more

What to expect: Like I said average bar food (nothing fancy but still good), parking is a nightmare (it is very popular), waiting to be seated at night or lunch time can sometimes be up to 30 minutes ( once again very popular and way worth it)!
