I've always had an amazing cut here, it's first come first serve so the line is never too bad and no matter who you see you get a great cut. Someone in the comments complained about the price, these guys are only a few bucks over super cuts but your getting a quality barbershop haircut, go anywhere else equivalent and your paying 75-80 bucks. Supercuts sounds like more your space. These guys are great and easy going and been going here for a while and will continue to. Great cuts at a great price. read more

A sports themed, traditional barbershop. Jerseys and bobble heads line the walls, two TVs tuned to sports, and an army of barbers so never a long wait. Visited several times, had my hair cut by different barbers, always a good and consistent cut. Single edge shave at the end is icing on the cake. My new go-to. When I lived near NYC I paid a small fortune for a good but not great haircut that was often inconsistent and styled as per the style du jour vs what I requested. This place is simple, the barbers are young, and their own cuts are all very similar. So it doesn't give off a "I'm going to get a good cut" vibe. But they are all very good. Well, at least the three I've had. No appointments so there's no rush, very precise, lots of communication, and overall great service. They are cash only but bank / ATMs across parking lot. The service is so inconsistent. Mostly bad cuts for my kids though because the barbers don't listen to what they want. Final straw was a horrid cut that left my son with a bald spot. He was in tears for hours and even stayed home from school the next day because he didn't want to be seen. My issue with the shop isn't the quality of the haircut; it's just that I'd prefer a more adult environment. The big-screen TV was impossible not to watch, and it featured two women beating each other bloody in a UFC match. The guy in the chair next to me was a UFC expert, and talked nonstop for over a half hour about UFC minutiae. I don't want to watch or hear about people getting beat up, for sport, or otherwise. Sorry, that's just the way I am. Somebody came in to sweep up the hair on the floor and moved back and forth, talking to the haircutters about their trucks, and their window tints. The guy's language was profane, including constant f-bombs. It was beyond inappropriate, and obviously unprofessional. Business taken elsewhere. I wish them luck in attracting business from anyone over 35. read more

I went and got a great haircut here yesterday. It's no surprise. I've known one of the owner's, Chris, for years since he was cutting my hair in Hayward. What to expect at this shop? Professionalism first and foremost. They do modern tapers and fades, classic cuts and a la carte request. There is a welcoming atmosphere and a great shop environment which blends modern technology with some of the nostalgia of the shop's previous owners. I have a bias toward this shop. I have known Rob and Chris for years and I keep coming back b/c I have seen through the years how Rob mentors young barbers to do things right. Place is not tidy. Came out covered in hair trimmings. Hair all over the floor as they don't sweep up after each customer. Guy didn't listen to my request for a light trim and way over cut it. Then proceeded to over trim my eyebrows. I had hopes for a good cut but was disappointed. Is will grow back-eventually! I won't be back. $32 plus tip was Excessive for a mostly electric clipper job. Moraga Butcher Shop would be a better name. Got a hack chop job today. Asked for a mid fade with 1 all around and a little off the top. Got a barely touched head of hair, no fade to speak of, used 1 on like a square inch on my side burn and jacked up the elevations of temple line. Waste of $40 today. read more

I am trying to grow my hair out after getting buzz cuts for about a decade. Now, I have had plenty of bad buzz cuts, believe it or not, at this price point, much less a good hair cut. Being from Oakland, I would have to pay double to get the same attention to detail so I am happy. I was surprised to get such a nice haircut when I really only told the man cutting my hair what I didn't want. Now, he didn't totally nail it but I told him to use his judgment. I was perfectly happy, however. Furthermore, the people who knew exactly what they wanted looked great when they left and seemed happy. The barber trimmed my eyebrows and actually shaved my neck with a razor. Many places either don't do that, or add 5+ dollars. A nice touch. I was very happy with my experience. I have had (slightly) better barbers but cannot compare because they are in the $40-50 range and no walk ins. Here, I got 95% of that and didn't need to set up an appointment, they were very quick, and a short wait. read more

Last night we attempted to give my 11 month old son a trim around the ears with clippers. It turned out as good as you can imagine, given our lack of experience cutting hair. This morning I called several places that touted "kids haircuts" to fix our hack job but was unable to get an appointment. My husband called The Moraga Barber Shop and they were very friendly and told us to come on in since they take walk-ins. Chris was available when we got there and reassured us that this was not the first time someone had come in with a botched home cut that needed fixing. Even though this is not considered a place that specializes in kids haircuts (meaning, no car shaped chairs, lollipops, etc), there was plenty of cool stuff for my son to be distracted by. This is a solid old style barber shop. I have been going here for two years, and consistently always pleased with the results. They are good at talking when you want to talk, and if you want to be quiet, they understand, and dont chat you up. Once I forgot my wallet. Totally embarrassed, but the head guy was super cool, and said I could pay him the next day. My son had his hair cut here recently. The woman was very friendly and patient. She did a nice job until she encountered my son's cowlick. She had no clue how deal with it and used thinning shears to create a 2"x3" bald spot. Thankfully you can't see it unless you push his hair back. We won't be back. read more
