I have been meaning to write an update on my prior review, but life gets in the way. Suffice to say, I am motivated by once again the fabulous hair styling on my diminishing head of hair. To my appreciative amazement, JB makes me looks so fine...particularly for an aging Asian stud such as myself! Well. at least I think so! Anyway, while I have a history of sending other prior barbers seeking a new gig once they get thru with my unwieldy scissors breaking hair, JB good heartedly takes on this ungrateful task head on! After listening to a variety of complaints relating to the need to "cut it all off" he then demonstrate the ample prowess of his art on my canvass of hair! I always enjoy the jocular conversation that I have with JB as we discuss his devotion to his wife and daughter and his dedication to his craft and his family, the 49ers ,and eateries. In fact, his taste of cuisines is excellent as well, as evidenced by his recent suggestion to a Laotian inspired Thai restaurant that was absolutely superb! Sheldon has done an unreal job at attracting so much talent and keeping the energy at Sharp at a high level. Been going to Parker for about two years now. Actually, I followed him here from the previous spot he worked at. At this point I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair. He's consistent, pays attention to detail, and actually listens to what you want instead of just running the same cut every time. I've on and off gone to barber shops in the past as I've never enjoyed the experience/liked the haircut for the cost. I decided to try Sharp and have been going back consistently for every haircut and beard trim for over a year now. Everybody is welcoming, friendly, and offer you beer or cold brew on tap. Shout out to Josh Bulla! I've been going to him for haircuts since he was an apprentice. Josh is very friendly, listens to any questions you have, and makes sure he knows exactly what you want for your haircut. The only downside is that it's cash only. Probably better for the business but an inconvenience for me needing to go to a bank to get cash everytime before a haircut. They have an ATM on site but who knows what those fees are going to be. read more

When I first came in, I wasn't 100% sure on the exact style I wanted, but I showed him a few pictures and he was able to nail it. He's super easy to book with and has great availability (including weekends) and always runs on time. I've never waited more than a couple of minutes past my appointment. Pranav Sharma, is one of California best razor technicians. I was able to schedule a razor shave with Pranav with late notice as a walk-in and was accommodated. Great service and incredible brewery within the circle that created such a positive vibe for sport televisions, beer, whiskey and decor. The shave was a masterpiece of details and peppermint oil along with hot towels and cold towels. Mature conversation and great service. I was so pissed that I finally got up and I left at 1:25. Really wanted to like this spot, but guys... this is such bad biz. All it would've taken to earn my repeat business is for this guy to stop cutting for a second, come over and say hello - let me know how late he'd be, while providing the option to wait, rebook etc.? I booked an appointment and got there 15 minutes early. Then I waited half an hour past my scheduled time. There wasn't any acknowledgement by anyone whatsoever. I believe the barber I selected ended up taking other appointments - I'm not sure if they were walk-ins but I could only assume since these guys have calendars. What killed me was when I received a text (probably automated) asking to pay them through Venmo for breaching their 24-hour cancellation policy. Are you kidding me? They should have paid me for my time and gas and sent me an apology text instead. I've never been to any hair place where I haven't been welcomed by anyone. It was my first time there and I wasn't exactly sure who my stylist was so I sat near the entrance and waited. If it's my job to go up to the person who's cutting my hair, I would have passed in the first place. Ended up going to a place that was cheaper and delivered a better haircut than what I saw in the Yelp pictures. read more

Chris Reese is maybe too good a barber. I say this because whenever I get my hair cut at SHARP - the cut looks fantastic and it lasts forever! This is only a bummer because the location of this shop is incredible (with Headlands Brewing Company and its signature Smash Burgers next door) and its open layout is something I've never seen before (the whole roof comes off on sunny days). I'd been trying to find a barber in the East Bay for a while, even driving into Oakland and Berkeley (from Danville) to get cuts, but now that I've found SHARP, the hunt is over -- this place the real deal. As for Chris, he's attentive, enthusiastic, and cuts in a way that almost feels collaborative -- he always makes sure we're on the same page. But most importantly, now that I've gotten a few cuts there, I go in feeling 100% confident I'm going to be happy when I leave. read more

I moved from NYC to California and was looking for a good Barbershop to trim my beard. I called and specifically asked for someone experienced with beards and who has good straight razor techniques. I was told Pranav Sharma was the man to see. NYC is easy, every barber is skilled with a razor but I have learned when traveling that not every barber has razor skills which is unheard of in NY, because you couldn't pass the State licensing test without it. This "barber's" razor skills were nonexistent and the concept of a straight line with clippers was foreign to him. He ruined my beard so I left, leaving with crooked lines and unshaven as he couldn't use a straight razor. The good thing is that he didn't charge me, but when I was telling him how to correct his work, as I am in the business since 1986, his reply was "I don't like to be told how to do my job." I left and found another shop who couldn't do razor work, but they recommended I go to Diablo Barber Co. on Mt. Diablo Blvd in Lafayette California. I was seen by a young female barber named Nicole who not only fixed my beard but her razor techniques and basic barber services like the use of a hot towel for shaving were 2nd to none. She is now my barber, and I will never go back to Sharp Barbershop nor do I recommend it. read more

Great barbers and haircuts. There is no dispute on that front. We've enjoyed going here for some time now. The last time we went, I used the ATM machine in their back room as they're cash only and I forgot to bring some. I never use this particular card - ever. A week later my card company calls me to inform me there has been suspicious activity on my account. Lots of fraudulent charges which resulted in a big pain in the butt for me. Thankfully, my card company was on top of it. I emailed them through the form on their website to let them know there is a skimmer on their ATM machine. No reply whatsoever. Save yourself the trouble and bring cash from a trusted ATM and not the rental type stand alone machine they have in the back room. So disappointing. read more
