Update 8/24/2026: I just received a call from Andrew. I was very surprised since he told me not to call him or is company in the future. I listened! I did not call him nor the company. He claims his marketing team told him about the review. He then said he would remove the charge if I removed the review. I reminded him he told me not to call him or the company any longer, but he calls me. He then became argumentative. I told him I already disputed the charge based on our conversation as depicted on the initial review. Then he threatened me now stating I was committing fraud. So first extortion and now fraud. He pretty much kept talking over me. He then started to try and use contractual language on me. Said he has the right to charge me $150 for disputing the charge. I told him he keeps talking over me and threatening me and I told him I consider this harassment now. He then hung up on me. The call was very uncomfortable and was more about his grievance and not mine. I have called my credit card company and made them aware. I made a mistake by signing the contract before they started. While I was signing, everything I signed when described to be by the mover employee seemed to be liability / damage items. I signed. Again, no time in and no time out I signed. They did not furnish that to me. Honestly, if he would have called me with a better tone, and maybe just said as a courteously, they will credit the money back, I would have reversed dispute and modified the review as a misunderstanding and they tried to make it right. But no, now he throws fraud at me like this is all my fault. Initial review: Buyer beware. Get a signed time in and signed timeout to protect yourself and what they charge. Cannot recommend this company. Read below for detail: I rated 2 stars to be fair because the setting things up was done well. They were recommended by the apartment complex I moved to. Details: - Called and set up a move. - They offered $149 for 1hr and $129 (Francis - kindly gave a coupon) total of $278. - They charged $300 which is what I was quoted via phone call when setting things up. - The appointment was set for 12pm. - Nice on every call before the move. - I dealt with Francis first and Andrew also. - Guys who moved were fast and good. - Actual move was done in no more than 1hr. - End of move I was given a receipt showing 1.98 hours. Not signed by me although it had a signature line not signed. - I called and spoke to Andrew about it and the hours are not accurate. He said he would look into it. - It showed as a pending charge of $177.29 on top of the $300 as described above. - Andrew never called me back and today it showed both transactions went through. - I called and spoke to Andrew again. - Started nice and when I told him that the guys were not there for over 1hr for the job they were hired to do as the unsigned receipt shows, I asked to refund that amount. - We both debated and he became stern and candid first. Then I reciprocated as I felt he was not going to cooperate with the extra $177.29 refund. - I told him that I dispute the hours and the charge. - We went back and forth. - I stated that he either needs to refund the disputed amount of $177.29 or I will have no other choice then to dispute it with my credit card company. - He said he would look at it again and see if he can make lower, but he will not refund the full amount. - I said unless it is the full extra $177.29, anything less than that is not acceptable as that would be them charging for more hours than the actual move from my rental truck to my apartment. - He then, in a very sarcastic way, told me I was bordering on extortion. - Then he told me I was on speaker phone and if I dispute it, he has GPS records. - The movers started to remove items and do the job they were paid for and were not doing that job for more than 1 hr. I know bcs I timed it from when they started to when the last item was moved in the apartment. - They did have to wait around for their office to sign them out and then I noticed the added time. - This was very frustrating and I felt I was being treated unfairly. When I emphasized this was not correct and if he does not refund the extra amount I will dispute the charge. - He then became threatening by saying be careful on what I say next. - I reiterated the above and the call ended with Andrew telling me to not call them again and I said I will dispute with my credit card company which I have never done before...this is the first time. - I agree to the $300, but I disputed the $177.29 as it was not a fair charge. - They had me sign docs before they started the work. They did not give me a signed time of start and end that I agreed on for confirmation. To summarize, they are nice before the move, but after, they add more hours than actually worked. This company did not disclose all of the things I would be charged for. I was charged for gas and a trip charge. I was charged over $500 for a 10 mile move if only boxes from one storage unit to another. The movers disregarded the LARGE fragile markings in boxes and stacked all my boxes to the top with my china and crystal items in the bottom. I have had to unpack my entire storage unit to place fragile items on top and half if my things are broken. I disgusted with this company due to their high price to move and the lack of care them had for my things. I wish I could give negative stars. read more

This is the company to go with if you want to spend $1000, have your property and flooring damaged, and have the owner take absolutely zero accountability. We hired this company to move our large furniture items and a few boxes from one apartment to another last month. The biggest issue that we thought we had was the gentlemen showing up within the last 10 minutes of our 2-hour start window (still in the window though, so no big deal). The gentlemen were polite and efficient during the whole moving process, and we even had 2 more gentlemen that finished their job early come and help so it could be completed quicker (and it would've supposedly been cheaper hourly... not the case). They put the large furniture items in their designated room and stacked the boxes in the kitchen, where we had already started stacking the boxes we brought prior to the moving company. We got our final pricing, and they headed on their way. As we start going through our boxes, we notice the large, gaping holes in the boxes where it almost looks like they made their own handles to carry them and boxes clearly marked "fragile" at the bottom of the stack and either upside down or sideways. We started moving our larger furniture items to where we actually wanted them, and as we were moving the coffee table, we realized that they had conveniently set it right on top of the large scratches they had made in our living room floor that were not there prior to them being there (which we will now have to pay for the damages when we move out). We then went to move our dresser from the bedroom into our closet when we noticed that the only thing holding the back onto it was the fact that it was pushed up against the wall. Even better, the whole right side of the dresser was ripped off and then pushed back into the stripped holes, so the drawers on that side no longer function properly. None of the damage that I have listed was even mentioned by the movers when it happened; it just appeared as though they tried to cover it up the best they could. My fiancé was on military orders right after we moved, so we weren't able to call and file a complaint until a few days later. When we were able to call and file a complaint, the owner, Andrew, told us that he would open an investigation. Fast forward almost 2 weeks later and multiple calls from our end being told, "He's not here right now; try again at 12 tomorrow," and we would call the next day at 12 and we would get, "He's in New Braunfels right now." We were finally able to reach him, and his solution is an $80 refund and blaming us for damaging our own property. read more

Based on my recent experience with The Moving Company. I would not recommend this company to anyone. At the beginning, I spoke with Andrew and he quoted me $194.00 for the service charge & $194 per hour for the service. He did told me that they wanted a card to hold on file, just to secure the move. Never once was it mentioned that there would be a $1,000.00 deposit. Then, their movers did not show up until about 10:15am. They walked in with cold drinks from QuickTrip. My husband and I had made the move as easy as possible for them and handled almost all the large items but there were some items that we couldn't move. The movers did not show any sense of urgency. It took them about 1.5 hours to wrap our couch, and headboard while also taking apart the bed. While in the middle of the move, he then calls to tell me that my card was declined. When I asked why, he informed me "oh, the $1,000 deposit." At this point, I mentioned that this was never mentioned and why are you just now trying to run my card when your team is already here. He proceeded to insists that I was a liar and didn't listen to him. Which I work with budgets everyday, I do remember numbers and if a $1,000 deposit would be pulled. Could I have reacted better? Yes. But when you insist that I am a liar, that was the last straw. I told his team to stop working - all they moved was a couch, and two pieces of headboard. CHARGED ME $600.00!!! How did $194.00 service charge, plus $194.00 per hour when you were only here for 1.5 hours, add up? It was the dishonesty and the lack of communication that set me over the edge. DO NOT USE! $545.98 to move 2 couches into my trailer after quoting $135!! I should've read the reviews before I hired them! I needed help loading 2 couches into my trailer. The distance to be moved was 20 feet without stairs from my living room to my trailer. I was quoted $135 for 2 people with a 1 hour minimum. The morning of the move, The Moving company called and said they needed to add another person to the crew for an additional $50 or I would have to reschedule. 3 men showed up and it took then less than 30 minutes to wrap and load the couches. When they finished, I got a notification that my credit card had been charged me $545.98. I called the company and spoke to someone and they said the charges were accurate and that I somehow "misunderstood" the initial quote. One year ago, I had this same stuff moved for around $600 so I thought this was a fair price. They charged my card before providing service for $800. Afterwards I received a receipt that they had charged a total of $957.62 which included $70 for fuel to go 10 miles, they add an unmentioned additional 30 minutes to every trip as per their policy, on top of overcharging hours. Buyer beware. There is a reason they get such a low rating. They tried to charge me over $780 for two hours of work after quoting me $192.50 per hour plus 8.25 for tax. A real scam when it comes to billing. Make sure and ask about trip charges, handling charges, shrink wrap charges and the fuel surcharge. None of those were disclosed even when I asked if there were any other charges when making the reservation. Then they put a $1500 hold on my credit card. I told her it was a max 2 hour job so why $1500. Wait to get your bill before you give them a review which they will ask for before you see the bill. My grandmother needed to be moved out of her assisted living facility because my grandfather passed away last week. We are scrambling to get her out and she is on a limited income. I called around to 4 different movers and ultimately chose THE Moving Company because they were a local to Boerne business and they had the cheapest price per hour, at $126.50. We were set to move today, Monday morning. They called us this morning to let us know that they were increasing the price to $165 because they would be adding another person to help move. They explained to me that they needed to hurry our job up this morning and that they added another man to assist with that, so we would have to incur the cost increase. This makes ZERO sense. I booked for one price. That is the price I was willing to pay. Just because they want to hurry up our job, doesn't mean I need to pay that increase. The man who I spoke with kept explaining it to me like he was doing ME a favor by not charging for the extra man power.. but I never asked for extra man power to begin with! He was argumentative and kept speaking over me and acting as if I was incompetent. I hung up and then their manager called. He treated me the exact same way. We ended up cancelling. My grandmother was in tears and called back to speak to them.. they continued to be rude to her! If your looking to be scammed this is the company for you. The actual movers did great. We asked for only 2 guys but they showed up with 3. ( again we did not need or want 3 guys but whatever he was there) They arrived at 9:40am that's fine we were told between 9am to 10am. We only needed 2 hours max and was only moving 4 miles away. We had about 6 big things to move. Everything was in our new place and done by 11:32am. They ask for you to sign their survey 1st before the bill. OK then he rushed in with the receipt and took off. The movers handwriting wasn't completely clear so checked my bank account literally right then. They charged us 597 for an hour and a half of work. I was told it would be about 450/490 but I also have a 50 dollar coupon. The coupon was never on it and they charged me for an extra hour. Called multiple times till finally someone called back only to be talked to like I was an idiot saying that maybe I was "confused" because they use military time. What ??? Does that change 1 and a half hours to 3 ?? Then their gas mileage was NOT the 8.2 their paperwork tried to say. They added 48 dollars for 4 miles. Then over 30 for the plastic wrap. This is the most shady company. After the phone call they said they would at least honor the coupon. I still haven't seen that adjustment yet and it's now been 2 weeks. If you're looking into moving companies ask about Fuel Service Charges, clerical work/filling paperwork time, electronic transaction fees, because I've used a few companies in the past and they don't have those additional fees, however, this moving company does, and will not advised until they have moved you in, gave you a survey/feedback questionnaire AND charged your account. I had less then a 1-bedroom apartment (no heavy appliances, no huge furniture) to move and they took FOREVER (4.5 hours and the new location was only 2 miles away). As soon as they arrived at my house they broke my bookshelf in half. Then they ended up leaving our desk drawers locked shut and unusable after the drawers flew out and bent the track. We contacted them several times after a few broken promises to call us and offered only $30. THEN we got a letter that said by accepting the $30 we agree not to post anything negatively anywhere or they'll charge us 10x the amount of our original bill! The woman on the phone, Frances, was an utter professional and reassured us that we would have 3 "experienced, professional packers" come to prepare the house for our move. Only the receipt alone has 3 WRONG MATH: 1) 3.33hr multiple $99.50 is $331.34, but they wrote $331.67. 2) Add initial $99.50 plus $331.67 plus fuel 38.03 and wrap 29.75 is actually $498.95, but they wrote $516.41! 3) The total hour we recorded is 1.8hr (finished unloading at1233 - started getting ready at1025 - waiting another 20mins to go find and get them back to the unloading apartment = 1hr 48mins = 1.8hr), but they wrote 3.33hr! 2. They are really SLOW and NONPROFESSIONAL. They must move slow because that's how they charge you more by hourly. When the movers arrived, they literally standing 25mins to do nothing until they made sure they got the money first. And literally took them 11mins to write us the receipt after they finished, and the receipt was wrong. Later on I found they put my washer dryer side, my kayak heavy end on top, I had to relocate them! Professional?! 3. They are really BAD AT NAVIGATION. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had using a moving service. Our house is only 1900 sq ft and it took them over 8 hours to move us. Their boss, Lee, sent 5 guys and 2 trucks and I was told they were professionals. They were kids who literally did not have a clue about what it means to really work. I caught them sitting on my furniture several times while watching another crew person wrap a piece of furniture. They were sweaty and dirty and all over my expensive furniture. I had to jump in and help them just to get them moving and teach how to actually work. Then we had to repack both trucks because they had metal up against the wood and leather of my furniture. I should've read the reviews on Yelp first. We picked up a flyer from the front desk of the condo we were moving into and called The Moving Company. They told us that they usually use a 3-man crew, but asked if they could send a 4-man crew to speed things up, and that it would cost extra for the extra man, but should take less time. The plan was that two movers would be unloading my apartment, and two would be loading the truck. When they showed up, I was introduced to all of them--they were all nice guys. However, I never saw more than two of them working at a time. I would know, as I was helping to move boxes and furniture myself. The two guys who were supposed to loading the truck were mostly non-existent. Every time I saw missing guy #1, he was on his phone or talking to other people at my apartment complex (drumming up future business?). When I asked one of the guys who WAS working where missing guy #2 was, I was told he was not feeling well and was in the bathroom in the lobby of the apartment complex. I timed it at being over one hour. I'm sorry he wasn't feeling well, but I'm paying by the hour for 4 movers, and if he's not feeling well, I shouldn't have to pay for him. After the move, I called the company, and was told that I don't understand how moving works. I replied that I think I get the concept. As I was helping to move, and there is only one elevator, and only one route to the truck, I would know that the two truck loaders were not loading the truck, as I didn't see them. They weren't in my apartment, in the elevator or the truck. The person on the phone said that he would refund me the money for the time missing guy #2 spent in the bathroom as soon as we hung up. As yet, this has not happened. He never addressed the fact that missing guy #1 did little to no work. I asked my condo complex to stop referring this company, and they threw the remaining flyers away. I paid $900 to move the packed contents of one small apartment one mile to one small condo. I spoke with Lee and made a reservation to move our heavy antique furniture into storage. Their personnel showed up at 10:00 am, on time, laid blankets on all of the furniture and put shrink wrap around everything. There were 15 large articles, including 2 dressers, 2 couches, end tables, night stands and several chairs. They loaded everything into a large box truck and unloaded everything into a storage unit 25 miles away. All of this was done in 2 1/2 hours. No scratches, dents or dings. The had the proper equipment and did a great job. Very nice young men, very courteous and well mannered. I will definitely uses them again. I would definitely recommend these movers. read more

Edit 3 (7-11-2019): I was told I had to remove portions of my review due to harassment by this company upon another person. Edit 2: The letter they sent for us to sign and return in order to receive the $30 is crazy. It states that, "Also, by accepting this amount, I am relieving THE Moving Company of any claims, damages, litigation, rebates, or grievances and find this matter to be permanently closed. In addition, I agree that neither myself, spouse, fiancee, relatives, friends, nor associates either directly, or indirectly will post, or communicate any negative information about THE Moving Company, members of its management team, or employees. This commitment applies to any website, search engine, organization, flyer, or publication of any kind. Furthermore, I understand that if I violate this agreement, I agree to pay The Moving Company a sum not less than 10 times the amount of the original bill, and 20 times the discounted amount." No wonder you don't see more reviews on here. They don't want the bad word spread and force you to be quiet. Edit: Got a call from someone in accounting saying that Andrew is just an office college guy that isn't allowed to discuss this matter, which he never stated to me prior. So, I can't get the drawer open and they are only going to credit $30 for a new locking rail, that I can't even get to because the drawer won't open. Tried to blame me by saying one of the guys told him I moved the desk. I clarified this by telling him yes, I did help after they had turned the desk forward allowing the drawers to slide open and bending whatever it was that caused the issue. Also had to move it because the guys wanted to remove the door to move the desk, when we moved it in there a year or so prior with no problems. I even have the guy on video (not face, but him trying to mess with the drawer and then saying sorry). So, why would you say sorry if you weren't part of the issue? This company is not worth your money, do not use them. Original review: This 2 star is largely based on Andrew in the office. The guys that showed up were pretty good, except for one issue where they tilted my work desk forward, causing the drawers to slide forward. I never had a key for it, so I couldn't lock the drawers to prevent this from happening. There was nothing in the drawers, but they are rather heavy. The drawers slid open and bent some rail inside that keeps them securely closed and I think lock, because now they won't all open. The bottom drawer does, the middle one did with a lot of manipulation and the top drawer is still stuck closed. I called the office and talked to Andrew. He told me he would look into it and call me back in a hour. I called him back the next day and he told me he would be conducting interviews with the crew and get back to me the next day just after 3pm. I never received a call and even gave him an extra day (and weekend) to get back to me. I called this morning and he wasn't in. I wasn't looking for much other than getting my desk fixed so I had my work station up and running like before the move. The movers themselves were decent. A few times they had to unload things from the truck to load something else due to room and what have you, which added time to the whole process, and time isn't cheap. They charged $60 for plastic wrap, and kept the rolls that had lots of it left on them. They took the fridge out backwards, hand truck first, and it came down pretty hard off the door jam. It was a nightmare experience and has taken me over a year to write this review (move was in August 2020), because I did not want to relive it. I am so sorry for the delay for anyone who hired them and might not have if they had read this review. I got a card in the mail for The Moving Company; called for estimate. They used the real estate listing pictures to give me a quote for one truck. Because we had already moved 10 8x10 trailers full, along with 10 pickups full of belongings, from Fredericksburg, TX to Lucas, TX I trusted their estimate. Such a bad decision. While they were loading the moving truck, my husband went and rented the largest u-haul truck for us to bring the things I thought would be excess--patio furniture, garden pots (I had a lot), many hoses and other garden items. In the afternoon their moving truck was full and the house was not empty, nor the 5 bays of garages. They announced they would have to use 'our' truck. So they filled it and it was not enough. So, my husband went and rented a u-haul trailer and they filled it and it was not enough. At 5pm they announced they had to leave to be in Lucas in time in the morning to deliver the household goods. We stood on the driveway in shock and watched them go and wondered what we were supposed to do with all the stuff still left. In the morning the new owners were to take possession. I was frantic. We began consolidating everything into one garage bay and I finally got hold of the new owners and they gave us permission to leave our things and come get them later. It took us until midnight to get everything in one garage bay--7 hours! Then I had to clean the house. The stress was horrible. At 2:30am I wasn't finished, but I had to stop and we had to leave to be in Lucas to meet the movers at 8am. My 82-year-old husband drove the u-haul truck and I drove the pickup truck pulling a trailer and we had to drive all night WITH NO SLEEP. We arrived in Lucas 10 minutes after the movers. Two weeks later we had to drive back to Fredericksburg and rent the largest u-haul truck to get the rest of our belongings. As if all this wasn't bad enough, our credit card was billed for over $1500 more than the estimate. I called the office manager 3 times and she promised the supervisor of our move would call me, but he never did. All I was asking was what the charges were for, but they would not even call and tell me that. I was so disgusted and could not even think about the move without getting stressed out, so I let it go. I did find damage to some furniture, but knew it was pointless to call about that. It appears the extra charges were for tape, shrink wrap, etc. Wow, $1500 worth? This is how they came in lower than the other mover I got an estimate from, who estimated two trucks. I should have gone with him, but I was trying to save money. That is why we moved so much ourselves in the 10 trailers. We could have saved ourselves so much work, so much time, so many trips to Lucas and so much stress if we had only used the other company. In the end the other estimate would not have been higher, because The Moving Company added on so much money to our credit card. What a horrible, horrible mistake to hire them--don't do it. I do NOT recommend this company. They have hidden charges that you don't find out about until they show up to move you. Also they sent tiny little thin men to do the job. Sent them on their way after talking to the manager or owner on the phone who was rude. They were recommended by my storage facility so obviously they must be getting kick backs for referrals because I can't imagine why anyone would refer them. My mother and father recently used this company to assist in moving some furniture. Granted these pieces were heavy ANTIQUE pieces of furniture. The Moving Company was only hired to move 8 pieces because our family moved everything else. Out of the 8 pieces they moved they damaged 2 pieces! When my mother pointed out the damage the gentleman told her, "Well, it is what it is." I think that comment speaks for itself. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Worst moving experience I've ever had. It was literally like I was watching turtles move your furniture right in front of your eyes. My girlfriend who is all of 100 pounds was moving heavier things faster than them. King mattress was drug on the ground through the parking lot & I was told to be "calm and respectful" when discussing being upset about the final outcome. Overall, terrible choice of movers, no way in hell I'd ever pay that much for as simple as a move as I had. Very upset, will never go back. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Save yourself and use someone else! Not only did they show up 2 hours late, the owner was a complete asshole. He yelled at me on the phone and called me a liar. I was lead to be believe it would cost a certain price and then when they give me the receipt.... almost double the price they told me!! A bunch of hidden costs!! Talked to the owner who started whining like a child once he figured out I was price matching. Rude Rude Rude. I should have just moved on to the next company but I was trying to keep it local. I was charged time for these guys to take breaks, phone calls and standing around BS'ing!! My biggest complaint is that they actually stole from me. The ONE and only box I left unsecured was the one they got into and stole some items. I will never use these guys again. read more

Movers had no experience moving or shrink wrapping. Dropped the first item they put on the truck after spending 15 min wrapping it and all the drawers fell out and crashed on the ground from the top of the truck. Didn't know how to carry or load a small recliner. spent over 20 min trying to figure out how to move my 2 recliners then tried moving cart that didn't work then dolly that didn't work then two of them finally picked it up and carried them. Two guys refused to carry a twin mattress loaded on a dolly and drug my mattress all over the ground which tore my plastic bags that I purchased to protect them. These 3 guys wasted so much time going back and forth try to figure out how to load furniture. Would not recommend them to anyone. Then I called the manager to tell him what had happen and he started getting confrontational with me. He should have listen to me instead of defending the guys. My mini storage manager even came to talk to me in the middle of the move and said these guys were taking advantage of me and he saw this on his cameras. The Moving company is not a legitimate moving company. How would I know? I worked for them. Qualifications? No need. They'll hire anybody. That was proven to me by the joker who let go of the couch while we were hauling it up the stairs and said couch went backwards and hit me directly in my face causing my neck to snap back and lucky me my neck did not end up breaking. Don't even get me started on the 50 dollar trip charge. Yes, 50 dollars just for the movers to get from the office to your address to move things regardless of the total traveling distance throughout the procedure. The vast majority of other negative reviews about The Moving Company are true. I saw a new posting by someone about the The Moving Company making threats to charge customers extra for negative reviews just before typing up this review. Where I come from that's called extortion and highly illegal. Such antics by The Moving Company only hardens the resolve for customers to stay away from The Moving Company. Hire another company for helping you with your move because a business which threatens extorting customers with hidden fees and plus threatening to extort further more for previous customers giving negative reviews is entirely unprofessional. I worked with this moving company to handle a small move from Texas to California. The movers were out of Austin. They showed up on schedule and did an excellent job of wrapping on packing. The shipment arrived in California with no damage and on time. It is important to understand that the quoted price did not include the wrapping and padding. Which was another $100. This was mentioned in the small print, so make sure you realize this when figuring your cost. We were also surprised that the initial estimate included a dining room table but when the mover arrived that said that since the legs on the table were not removable it would take more space. Because the move was quoted by cubic feet, it would be more expensive. The problem was with the initial estimate. The estimate did a poor job. Beware of low ball estimates. The move was still cheaper than Pods or renting a Uhaul truck. The movers did a very good job of packing and shipping. read more
