Excellent experience with The Moving Guys. Having moved several times before, the rates are reasonable. I had 2 moving vans for a move from storage at different locations to the new home with 2 reliable teams. When I ran into difficulties with a storage unit, they joined together and assisted at the second location. Moving two 10x25 units of furniture and boxes without incident. Sadly, the moving company (1/2 price movers) I used to move the items to the location damaged and scratched many items without telling me; only rightfully brought to my attention by this crew. Unfortunately, time has expired to make a claim. Will and Larry, as supervisors, made a stressful day easier to handle. Both teams pitched in to provide a safe move with professionalism and care in handling furniture and items. The guys also helped assemble a baby grand piano when other movers would have just left it in pieces. I will be using this company again for the second half of my move. Scratched my wall, left my grande piano unscrewed (it's unsafe and on the verge of collapsing), improperly re-installed my bed frame (left many things unscrewed), this is after they pressured my mother for a $200 tip. I've use these guys a few times... I haven't had any serious problems at all. And I can only think of one instance where there was a problem and they fixed it right away. This last time I moved, I had a short timeframe to work in. So I wasn't totally packed when they showed up, but they worked with me and even helped move a lot of of the loose stuff that was around. I had a great experience with the Moving Guys from start to finish. The process started with Larry coming to my house to take inventory and explain the process. He was very thorough and clear and was responsive to follow up questions. I had two moves thereafter- one from my house to the storage unit and the other from the storage unit to my new house. I had some of the same crew for both moves - Don, Troy, Walt, Carl, Kelvin, Shaun and Sandor- they were all fabulous- really took care with my belongings, especially the fragile items and I had no damage/ issues. My wife and I had a horrifying experience with these 'Moving Guys.' 1) Let's start with the most ridiculous: one mover, a driver no less, was literally drinking on the job, swaying and slurring his speech by the end the day. 2) In the midst of a global pandemic that's killed more than 16 thousand New Jerseyans, management DID NOT require their workers to wear masks when entering other people's homes and REFUSED to wear the ones we provided. 3) Despite prior agreement, confirmed three separate times, they showed up without required packing materials. We were forced to leave some items & later retrieve them on our own. 4) Their unpreparedness led to delay - which the crew bitterly complained about & led to haphazard placement of our furniture and created an uncomfortable atmosphere of annoyance and frustration towards us. 5) Terrible attitude and abrasiveness aside, they were bad at their job & completely reckless with our possessions. I am attaching a few pictures of the hundreds - if not thousands - of dollars of damage sustained to our things. Damage, we should note, we did not make a fuss over at the time because we wanted the whole, horrible experience to be over as soon as possible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! It is unfortunate that I have to give these movers 2 stars. It isn't even for the actual move! The movers themselves were amazing so fast and efficient and made moving way less stressful. Unfortunately one of our TVs broke. Accidents happen we understand. I spoke with Sal he explained how to file a claim and since I did almost a month ago it has been radio silence. No one has answered my emails. My husband and I both called the office where we felt we were just being yesed and told the claims department is looking into it. Very disappointing! read more

Spoke with a guy name LARRY.. who said someone will email me with the claim form... returned the claim form and they have not gotten back to us. It's JUNE and this happened END OF MARCH. Base on my observation, the guys that they hire to move stuff for this company LACKS COMPASSION. They smelled like cigarettes on top of their sweat. I hired 4 guys and 2 trucks. Overall the move was ok, these are things that you should watch out for: 1) They start the "clock" when the first member of the team gets there, 2 of their guys were about 15 minutes late. 2) They insist on boxing any furniture that has glass piece in it -- we are not talking about quality boxing, they rip open one of their boxes, and tape it on the glass parts, and this is called "boxing" which you will pay dearly for ($45). 3) They will change the agreed price and travel charge. My travel charge was $185 and hourly rate of $185 -- I even signed a page that shows this rate first thing in the morning before they started. Without notice, the rate was crossed off and changed to $205/hr with travel charge of $205 4) Smoking breaks and stops at Wawa are on your dime. I tipped the guys well and overlooked the above because they completed the job in 6.5 hours instead of quoted 9 hours. They are the absolute worst. The main guy you have to deal with is Larry...a seriously frustrated guy who has to find a new job, and stop picking/being rude to the customers. He says he has been with the owner of the company for years so I guess the owner is afraid to fire this idiot. They left their blankets, garbage on my property, tons of boxes in my garage when they were marked for certain rooms and never asked, then refused to take detergents so I had get a self storage unit at the last minute. I used this company 1.5 years ago when I moved from a 1 bed 1 bath apartment and the company sent 4 movers. I hired them again to move my mom, who is in a 3 bed 2 bath and they sent 3 movers. Had they sent an extra hand the job would have been much quicker (and cheaper for my mom). They also didn't tell the movers that my mom's place was on a second floor, which is frustrating for the movers and I really felt for them. I also requested that the company send the same team that moved me two years ago and the woman I spoke with said they can make that happen; they didn't. Totally different team. Lastly, they charge a 4% fee to use a credit card to pay. I told one of the movers that this was never told to me when I booked them. He then pulled out a piece of paper that someone "left a voicemail" on my mom's phone telling her about the charge about one week ago (my mom never got the voicemail). I was so pleased with the company when I used them for myself 1.5 years ago, but was not ecstatic about the issues I experienced today with my mom's move. I used this company for moving out of a place and to put my furniture in storage and then to move my things out of storage. The worst company ever. When it came time to deliver my furniture after being in storage for 18 months, my bedroom dresser , one dining room chair and a decorative mirror was MIA. It took 6 weeks for Larry to find my items. How the items got separated from my other stuff which was in a bin or something I have no idea. Then I go to check my dresser after they finally delivered it and it was damaged. Where he had it stored that the finish would be chipping off I don't know. I highly recommend one does not do business with the Moving Guys, NJ. read more

Used the moving guys today for our move from Aberdeen to Secaucus and we were very pleased. The three guys showed up promptly, were respectful and moved our items quickly despite the horrible rain. We found the pricing to be reasonable, the service to be great and the overall customer service to be wonderful as well. We were very pleased with the entire process. None of our belongings were damaged, there were no hidden charges and we were in and out of one place to the next in less than 5 hours. Terrible service and company. Gave an estimate that the move would take 4 hours (thus forcing us to sign up for a 4 hour minimum). The move only took 3 hours but we were forced to pay for 4 hours. They broke the glass light fixture and scratched up the walls (leaving deep scratched in the walls). The office staff was not helpful and borderline rude when it came to discussing compensation for the damages. Would never consider using this company again. UPDATE: While I was originally dissatisfied with the service, the staff has since made efforts to work with me to better my overall experience with the company. It's too often that companies ignore your frustrations and complaints. I am pleased that my complaints did not go unnoticed and that they were taken seriously. I have no clue how to review the worst experience I ever had at the most difficult time. I called MANY movers decided to move forward with these guys. BIG MISTAKE! - Had a window for arrival 1-3 ( Wed b4 Thanksgiving) - Got a phone call from the MOVER at 3 to verify what he is doing. THE MOVER told me that THEY could not MOVE what I specifically scheduled with company. He said it was too heavy ( it was a 7 ft subzero refrigerator that I specified to appt setter to make it very clear- she stated no worries they are 3 men they will know what to do) CLEARLY THEY DO NOT! The movers were very careless in packing my furniture which resulted in a ripped leather sofa, a chunk missing from my dining table, my desk peeling, entertainment center being loose, and my bar cart breaking. To add insult to injury, when I tried making a claim, they put the claim through incorrectly, blamed me, and when they finally sent a check the name was spelled incorrectly with things crossed out - it's useless. We moved a 2 br apartment 3 miles down the road and it was supposed to take 4 hours it was substantially longer not because of our wrongdoing but because the movers were slow as turtles and also stopped for a break at Wawa. Not only did they take forever but they also insulted my partner and I and made fun of my partner for being gay. It's 2020, you don't have to like our sexual orientation or approve we hired you to move our things and UNPROFESSIONAL doesn't describe how we were treated. On top of all this, we had to move because of our situation and had painters at our house which wasn't ideal but the painters worked around everything as Covid pushed things in ways we didn't anticipate. These movers were down right nasty and when my partner complained by calling the number he was told he would receive a call back and that never happened. They also damaged some of our things and put a gash in our front door. I have kept quiet because moving is stressful and I didn't want to revisit the awful experience. This company from the movers to whoever was in charge was absolutely horrific. I will always tell people how awful this was because no one even tried to make it right. We also paid hundreds more because of how long they took. A year prior, with a different company I paid less money to move the same things from over an hour and a half away to Brick. There is no way in my mind that would justify how a move from 1.5 hours away with the same things took about the same time and cost less. Also, on the way out the mover was nice enough to urinate all over our brand new bathroom. Do not hire this company, I'll be filing a BBB complaint as well. read more

We used this company twice and were very pleased. This time, we were downsizing and contacted them about moving us again. They came out for the estimate and it was TWICE as much as our move of only 5 years ago. WE HAD THE SAME FURNITURE, with the exception of swapping an armoire for a long bureau. I called the office twice, and explained that there must have been a mistake. No one ever got back to me. My husband booked a date with them just as a backup because it was a busy time for movers. We had to give the Moving Guys $100.00 to book the date and expected to get a call back for sure after that. It never came. We were able to secure another company and lost that $100.00. read more

Ian was so helpful with setting up an estimate as well as calling me on the day of to check in to be sure things were going well. My spouse and I needed help moving less than .25 mile down the road from an apartment on the third floor to a townhome. I contacted this moving company and gave them a list of all things we needed help moving (King size bed, two TVs, dining table, exercise bike, sectional couch, entertainment center and dresser). I was quoted 3 guys, 3 hours- $700.00. For each additional hour, $175. Being that we only needed help with those items, we wrongfully assumed it would take far less than three hours. Mind you, we moved here from Upstate NY and had two moving guys move ALL of our items within 8 hours, which includes the 6 hour drive from Upstate NY which is why we "wrongfully assumed" The Moving Guys wouldn't take 3 hours. Here are a few reasons as to why our assumptions were so in accurate, 15-20 minute smoke breaks one to two guys at a time, arguments between workers (in my living room in FRONT of me) to which led to threats of fighting being taken outside, etc. Which leads me to the next reason I find this company to be EXTREMELY unprofessional, lack of respect towards my neighbors. The workers were loud and vulgar. Luckily, my spouse and I are fairly relaxed when it comes to that. But, was an embarrassment knowing my neighbors had to hear it. They arrived on time which was great and helped moved all my possessions. The reason I am giving only one star was that some of my boxes never made it to my new location.
