Horrible service. Moved from Nj to Fl. Once I found a home I moved my furniture from storage to only find my brand new items scratched, dented DESTROYED. Everything I bought was earned from hard work. Then to my dismay, I found boxes missing. Valuable things, family things that had much emotional value. So DISSAPOINTED. Joe Russo the owner quoted us a moving price (local move in central NJ, Manalapan to Marlboro) and he was spot on with the amount of boxes and time to load and unload. Company confirmed move, day, date and time a week out. Sent additional packing materials we requested for the day of the move and everything worked out great. The 3 movers took care of business,efficiently, professionally, and were on time with a smile. Price is in line with other companies and very competitive. They accept cash, checks, and credit cards (which other companies do not). Highly recommend. read more

We just moved and will highly recommend this company. Very professional, timely, reasonably priced (estimate was dead on with what we paid) and very nice guys working the job. With three little ones we had no time to really do anything to prepare for this move and the guys packed everything we cherished and owned with great care. Nothing was left undone or done poorly. All of our stuff made it to our new home in one piece without any incidents or worry. Rick Demarco, one of the owners, was extremely helpful and answered all our questions, came out to estimate our job himself, and seemed genuinely concerned that our move go smoothly for us and took care of everything so all we had to do was get in our car and change our address. I had a very positive experience using this company to move me from central NJ to Manhattan. They were able to schedule the move with only one week's notice, the three men who did my move were very positive, friendly and hardworking, and the estimate came out very accurate (slightly higher than what I actually paid). I was able to use a credit card, which was handy so that I didn't have to carry a lot of cash on moving day. My move even had two NJ stops before heading to Manhattan - easy, no problem. There was a base fee, plus an hourly rate. My only two minor criticisms are: 1) the manager who gave me the initial quote joked around a lot in a self-deprecating, but almost negative way. E.g., he kept saying, "well, this will be my first time moving, so we'll just see how it goes!" and similar wisecracks. I like to work with people with good senses of humor, but this just slightly went past the boundaries of funny to make me wonder why he had to be negative instead of reassuring to a potential client. 2) I had initially called the company and gotten a quote by phone, but decided on a different mover, which fell through with only a week to go. The second time I called them, the quoted base rate was $50 higher that the first time. They were willing to match their original price, but I just wonder why the base price (which paid for the truck, mileage, tolls, etc.) was seemingly so variable. These issues aside, my move was conducted smoothly and professionally, and I certainly would use the company again. read more

These men are dishonest and unprofessional! The charged me for 5 hours of moving when they only took 2.5 hours to move me from my old house to new. I am EXTREMELY upset as the man in charge of these moving men, LARRY STEWARD, gave me the run-around and ignored my calls for weeks after my move while I tried to get my money owed to me back. When I was finally able to speak with him, he told me that the trucks they USUALLY use for moving had tracking devices in them and that he would check on the mileage. When he did, however, he told me that the one they used for my move was a "rental" and there wasn't any tracking available...HOW CONVENIENT! I assume I'm screwed out of my money, but I've written a letter to the headquarters in the hope of some kind of refund. This is unprofessionalism and criminal! DON'T USE THEM. I was quoted for 5 hours which seemed to be spot on. It took the guys a total of 8 hours. They arrived hungover (they announced this). They packed the truck up pretty. Note they will not take anything that is not in a box for some reason. So I had to pack two cars full of stuff myself. Then what would have taken MAX one hours twenty minutes on a truck route to my new location took them over three hours. I called multiple times for their location they said 20 minutes each time. They arrived with Burger King cups and trash which they left outside my house. Note They didn't not unwrap things like tvs, mirrors glass tables when they were at my new location. They also complained about my furniture and its weight the entire move. I have moved many times... do not use this company. read more

I pass their location when I take my kids to School so when it was time to move from an apartment into a Townhouse I naturally wanted to give them a chance. At first they seemed responsive until they failed to provide the estimate as promised on a Saturday. I called them on Monday and got a Voicemail from Joe asking to call him back to review the estimate. I did but didn't get a call back. I then called again on Tuesday morning and was told Joe was busy out of the office providing estimates. He finally called me Tuesday afternoon and provided a price. As I started to book it he then tells me they no longer have the date I need to move!! I asked so why did I waste my time giving them an opportunity when they couldn't make the date. He starts telling me I never returned his phone calls and blah blah blah. I told him that was a lie and he asked me what time I called and who did I speak to?? Like prove it to him that I called!! I asked to speak to the owner and he said he is the owner before he cursed at me. No wonder my realtor did not recommend them when I asked for movers! read more

The first day they packed and moved us to a rental home, the second day they moved our remaining things to their storage facility and then cleaned up with their Junk Removal. Worst company I have ever dealt with. I was quoted an estimate and then up charged $750 more. They took advantage of a women in a dire situation and verbally abused me. Mocking me and saying, "I thought you were a woman of god" once I rebutted against his immense up-charge. I'm so disgusted with the service that was provided by the owners of this company. As movers, they're great. Don't use the packing service. They broke everything of mine during a recent move -- whether or not it could be considered "breakable". I don't have one cup, dish, or glass left. Women helping me unpack had to stop - that's how much broken glass there was in the boxes! read more

Do not use these guys. Came 3 1/2 hours late. Joe was the most miserable human being ever and I overheard him talking shit about me and my wife. They came in a smaller truck than promised. Used them for two moves: One to move out of old house into storage for 2 weeks, and then to our new home. Upon arrival in new home, coffee tables were scratched in multiple spots, and a nice big chunk of wood was missing on master bed frame. I hired The Moving Guys to move all of my larger furniture the end of December 2012. During the move, The Moving Guys dropped my dryer in the walkway of the room during the move. When doing so it hit the butt joint of the floor and ripped through the linoleum and cracked open the joint of the subfloor. In approximately three months of communication I was offered $150 in compensation for a $500 repair with the stipulation that I delete and or revise all reviews to remove all damage related and negative comments. Update After 8 months of emails back and forth and a Better Business Bureau complaint and notification to them that I was going to submit a Consumer Affairs complaint they paid the flooring company for the repair. read more

If you want your items packed properly, and if you want a response to a complaint, pick another mover.. Everything up front was fine--they were responsive and helpful. Guys who came to pack and load were friendly and on time. We didn't watch the packing, and found that antique pictures with bowed glass and other framed items with glass were packed without any packing material! They were just stacked in boxes! Luckily, only one modern frame had cracked glass, but this is no way to train packers!! When I contacted them I received no response. Very disappointing! This happened in May 2014. read more

Thanks to Joe & Chris for making my move go extremely easy and quick! They are an awesome team and work so well together. They arrived 15 to 20 mins before start time, which I 110% greatly appreciate ! They took excellent care of all of my stuff, from tvs to Christmas decorations, to all of my 12 year old daughter's precious delicate items. After spending maybe 15 mins or so with Joe and Chris, my Mom,sister, daughter and I felt like they were family. That is extremely important to me, they took the time to make sure my Mom was always comfortable (Mom is disabled and uses a cane) and they were so kind and patient to my daughter when she wanted to help etc. We were so lucky to have them! Stay as far away as you can. You'll be making a huge mistake if you go with this company. All we heard before we booked were wonderful things but unfortunately the experience that we had with them was anything but. Not only do they arrive at our move completely unprepared even though they had two months notice and a full listing of every single item that they would be picking up but they showed up for the truck that was half the size of the truck required along with no packing materials for any of the items they had advanced notice on me. They also arrives almost 3 hours late to the job site after taking the wrong route to get to my home. they took a tunnel but they weren't able to take because they didn't see the height clearance sign in and do the proper research before booking. After they arrived at the site the gentleman who packed us who are fantastic let us know how horrible the office can be with bookings and getting things booked incorrectly. It's unfortunate because the three-minute moved us were absolutely spectacular. The movers had a come back a second day of the rest of our items and package the ones they didn't bring the materials for the first day. Not before the office try to charge us additional travel charge for them to come back even though it was their error in the first place but they didn't bring enough packing materials or truck large enough to accommodate all of our items. After the move was complete I was overcharged on some items that I would agree to different price on. I contacted the office and was told that the credit will be issued I never was. I also requested to talk to the owner of the company on five different occasions but was never able to reach him regardless of my attempts. I recommend you do not waste your time or money booking this company because the experience and the aftermath of the experience cost me almost $800 more than the original estimate. read more

As my mother used to tell me, "if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything", well I could not abide by her rule. This company is terrible and you should consider someone else to move you. The packing up went well but the unpacking was a nightmare. They had my items in storage and when we opened one blanket that was packed is a bag in a box it has bugs and we needed to throw it out. Ripped, torn. broken, dirty items also. They make promises that they don't keep. I made phone calls (8-12), sent emails (3) and no response, no call back and no acknowledgement that they even received my emails or calls. I sent pics of the damages and still no response. I filled out a claim form, but we will see what happens...DO NOT TRUST LARRY!!! There are 2 of them and they both are terrible. One is in the office and he doesn't answer back on anything and the other moved us and could care less when unpacking and all it seemed is he wanted to get out ASAP! Still waiting 2 weeks later for someone to contact me back and get back to the house to finish the promises they made... read more

Our first business with The Moving Guys was back in May 2012 and they did a fantastic job. The crew at the time were Rick (supervisor), Troy and Walter. The move went so well that we decided to use them again December 2013. To our disappointment Rick had moved to South Jersey and is now part owner, so were unable to get the whole original crew that we loved except Walter. The crew we had for our 2013 move were Tom (supervisor), Craig and Walter. Walter as always did a fantastic job! Craig was decent, but we would of preferred Troy. Tom who replaced Rick in the Marlboro district was the most unpleasant human being we've come across with! Our move was right across the street and Tom managed to piss off our neighbors by blocking their parking when he moved the truck! He didn't even apologize! The worse part about this awful supervisor is he loaded and unloaded the truck while the other 2 crews did all the heavy lifting and assembling. Tom managed to damage A LOT of our furniture and he didn't bother to do a walk through afterwards like Rick did back in 2012. Tom was so eager to get the job done and was mumbling to himself constantly how much he hated his job. Not only that, Tom and Craig were loud and kept making muppet voice impressions about other employees that they work with. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! The company went downhill as soon as Rick moved away from this region. We WILL NEVER use the Marlboro company again until they get rid of Tom, someone must of been drunk promoting this guy. Since Walter and Craig did a good job, we did the right thing and tipped all 3 an equal amount... sadly we're not sure if Walter and Craig got their split since we only had hundred dollar bills to pay for everything and Tom was the one doing all the transaction in the end. The night after the move and we started to unpack, we noticed that some boxes were opened... my wallet (which only had coins and a few other documents) was looked through and was not even closed backed up! The only person who we know could of done it was Tom since he did all the loading and unloading! The other 2 guys were always on the move and inside the house disassembling/assembling big furniture. Tom took A LOT of cigarette breaks and reeked of it every time he came in so that was an indication this piece of scum was taking his sweet time rummaging through our belongings inside the truck. We reported Tom and was told we would get a call back from the owner, but we never did. If we move anywhere south we would only hire Rick as supervisor. The Moving Guys of Marlboro would be wise to get rid of dead weight like Tom. When you call for an appointment make sure to ask who the supervisor for the move is first. If you get stuck with Tom - RUN FAR AWAY!!! If you chance it with Tom, make sure you have someone following him the entire time and check EVERYTHING afterwards for any damages so you are covered! EDIT: Owner replied to this review via Yelp and NEVER bothered to call us back physically the day after our second move with them when we had concerns. Unprofessional both offline and online! Stop trying to redeem yourselves and apologizing to customers reviews online when you couldn't even be bothered to call them back in person! We moved on August 28 from Marlboro to Monroe Twp. Given a fair price. Everything was good. When the move was over several items were damaged and two were destroyed. This occurred due to the careless handling of the fellow who packed the truck. The other movers were good. I put in a claim for the damages and was told that since I didn't take out additional insurance I would be paid the standard amount of 6 cents per pound which they said would be $156.00 (certainly not a grand amount nor an amount to purchase the items that were destroyed) - but OK. Here it is Nov. 9th and all I've gotten is the run-around - the check is here but only sent out once a month, have to get authorization from the owner, it will be mailed at the end of the month, absolutely NO return phone calls and NO check. Completely disappointed, discontented, frustrated and angry --what is it to sent out a measely check for $156.00 - will the company go bankrupt?!! read more

I would advise anyone to avoid this company. I called the company and set up a meeting in which the representative would provide an estimate. He was friendly and told me that there would be would be no problem scheduling our requested date because it was five weeks off. He said that same thing when he was at our home developing the estimate. So the next day I sent an email stating that we accepted the estimate and wanted to confirm the date. I was then called and told that the date was no longer available because someone else scheduled a large several day move and they were using all their movers for that. The woman asked if I would change the date and I said yes. But low and behold they could not accept each date I offered because the large move was apparently a several day move. I even volunteered to move the day before the so called large move they had booked. But low and behold that date was somehow now booked. REALLY? Perhaps instead the company has decided that our move was not as lucrative as a longer/larger move and so jerked us around. Something fishy here!! I would avoid these clowns! read more
