He pointed across the courthouse Square to a place called The Dome. We packed up the grandkids and headed around the Square. Not wanting to be disappointed, grandma went in to make sure they had pastries and pastries they had: cinnamon twists, raspberry domes, apple swirls, c hocolate croissants,l to name a few, just freshly baked. Reasonably priced at three dollars each, we were able to take one of each and a few duplicates so everybody could have a taste of everything back at the cottage. They even had one with sprinkles which made one grandchild very happy. Being this fresh they were exceptionally flaky pastries, and the fillings were just delicious. So if you're an early riser in the Pittsfield Illinois area, make sure you stop by the dome for a great pastry. I stopped in to get one of my favorite drinks and was greeted very politely. I even had a nice conversation with one of the young ladies working the register about the amazing-smelling candle they had burning inside. Everything was pleasant. When my drink was finished, I was handed my cup and noticed that it had leaked a little down the side. No big deal these things happen. I wiped it with a napkin, but the cup was still a little sticky. As the owner of a detailing business, I really didn't want to put a sticky cup into my vehicle's cup holder, so I politely asked another young lady if she had a wet rag that I could use to wipe it off. She said she could take care of it and walked over to the sink. While I was waiting behind the tea dispensers, I happened to look over to see what was taking a little while. I heard Lexi, the young lady who had taken my cup, quietly rudely talking to another employee about me and discussing the fact that I had asked for my cup to be wiped off. When I looked around the dispensers, we made eye contact, and the conversation continued. I honestly didn't appreciate being discussed while I was standing right there, especially over something as simple as asking for a sticky cup to be wiped down. I remained polite, took my drink, and when she asked if everything was fine now, I said yes and thanked her. I completely understand that these are young adults and that everyone has bad moments, but we're not in high school. Customers shouldn't feel like they're being talked about while they're standing right there. There was absolutely no reason for a simple request to turn into a conversation about me. I'm not writing this review to be rude or to attack anyone personally. I'm sharing it because I've been coming to Mimi's for years, and this one interaction unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather bring something like this to the business's attention now, in hopes that it can be addressed, than have a similar situation happen with someone who may not be as understanding or polite about it. I still appreciate the business and the people who work there, but I do think this is something that should be addressed. Sometimes a small interaction can make a much bigger impression on a customer than you realize.
