This has to be one of the coolest cafés I have been to. Located right by the pier the views of the water are epic. Right now as I'm writing this review there is quite a bit of construction going on signs leading to where you can park. The interior of the building is beautiful, plenty of historical plaque, explaining what where, I would also highly recommend checking out. The bank vault turned into alcohol storage. There is plenty of seating, although if you are planning to work here on a laptop, you might have a tricky time finding a spot that is comfortable. Most of the rooms have cozy chairs with smaller tables better accommodated for food and drink. I'm looking forward to coming back here for whiskey night. read more

Stopped by on my lunch break today to check this place out! I ordered the 16 oz mocha and the chocolate was really good, it came super hot so for those who are also sensitive to heat be aware :) that's on me, I forgot to say kids temp! I know I'm the minority haha so it's a good thing. The breakfast ham and cheese croissant was good, it wasn't heated all the way through but it got busy and I didn't mind too much. I'd skip the Nutella brioche which is a bummer since I love both of those foods! It was just as it sounds, no extra touches just Nutella and bread. It stuck to the outside wrapper too so not ideal when chunks kept ripping off. Super cool interior and space, I don't know much about it historically but they have an awesome view of the waterfront! I want to try their dinner and cocktails sometime too so I'll be back. read more

They had great music, great entertainment and wonderful employees. It seem like that down home place that you would just want to share with your you and your friends. We were heading from Edmonds up to Anacortes and thought we'd drive over from I-5. Fantastic, eclectic setting that gave us an initial impression of being a cool coffee shop (we went during the day). Unfortunately, it ended up being not so cool. When I asked the order taker "what kind of spices are in the spiced mocha?", she said " we make our own syrup with spices." Me: What are the spices? Her: I'm not sure. It took 20 minutes for them to make 2 mochas that weren't so great. Not really worth the 10 minute drive off the freeway unless you have lots of time to spare. read more

From Portland, visiting friends and we went out late for drinks. No reservations but they managed to seat us. Very nice arm and friendly welcome. The cocktails were fine, even good. Nothing that blew us away, especially at the price point, and probably went a bit overboard on the habanero bitters in one of them. The service was also fine, nothing objectionable but not fantastic either. Very friendly, but our server was not particularly knowledgeable about the cocktails or the whiskey list. Speaking of, the list is extensive, even excellent. Nothing approaching Multnomah Whiskey Library level, or even Scotch Lodge level, but given the location we were very impressed. One of us skipped the cocktails and went for a single pour and were not disappointed. Can't speak to the food menu, though it looked quite good, both on paper and the tables around us. The really outstanding feature is the house itself. An old mansion moved to this spot - don't miss the picture of it going under a drawbridge on the wall in the entry. The various rooms, with intimate seating were superb. And a very nice bar area. If we lived up here I'm sure we'd be regulars. read more

I came here two separate times now - once during the day for coffee, and once at night for the speakeasy. The main level space for the coffee shop is amazing, 5/5!! The coffee and the breakfast burrito were delicious. I love the couches and huge windows for natural light, and I plan to come back soon with my laptop to get some work done. I highly recommend this place to with friends for coffee. The speakeasy is 3/5 for me. I love the wide variety of drink options, but the food was suuuper pricey for small portions. The $35 charcuterie board had only 5 thin pieces of bread and a small amount of cheese and meat that barely lasted while sharing. The drinks were also a bit pricey but expected for a speakeasy and the presentation was great. I hope they update their food menu soon! Service was slower so bring good company with you. read more

Note: this is a review for their cafe which is open daily 7am - 4pm, not their cocktail lounge. The latter is only by reservation only. I had seen a grand opening post with the Port of Everett on IG, but was unable to attend on that particular date. I always like to checkout restoration and reuse of historical buildings, plus even better involving an indie spot to get coffee! Coming south from Marysville, I decided to detour in Everett to check out The Muse before heading home (7/20/23). There's two hour public parking located adjacent to a park space and The Muse. After the free two hour period, payment is required for up to twelve hours total. Just make sure to note signage where you park to avoid a ticket or getting towed. There is an extensive ramp and front parking slots at the main building to make it ADA accessible. The parking lot area is not paved, but has loose gravel. There's side stone steps and stairs to access the main building, just exercise caution if wearing dress shoes or simply a klutz like me. Nice views of the waterfront and nearby marina. I saw folks playing with their dogs, but also signage for no kite flying at the park. Guess to prevent entanglement with power lines? Walking over to The Muse, I liked the exterior blue color and building details. Pleasant entryway with bright, modern interior and historical photos displayed. You are greeted with a vast pastry case, a plus! The menu is a clever three part device (see attached photos). I was warmly greeted at the ordering counter. I decided on a 16 oz iced mocha. With others ahead of me, I did a quick wander of the lovely seating rooms. Nice to not encounter a sea of laptops. Also, a good post pandemic sign of seeing folks having actual conversations. There's also conference room seating, got a peep at their clever use of the former safe for wine bottle storage, and historical timeline with photos mounted on the wall. A refreshing cool breeze came from the open door way leading to additional outdoor deck seating. Those tables are also outfitted with umbrellas to shield from the direct sunlight. My iced mocha was spot on...tasty, balanced, and refreshing. However, I would have preferred to obtain an individually wrapped or insert my own drinking straw from a dispenser versus having one of the counter staff handle it directly with her bare hand. Just an observation from this microbiologist. My favorite indie is usually in the downtown core, but The Muse is a great detour to enjoy the lush renovation, waterfront views, and serene, inviting spot to get refreshment, have conversation, time to write or read a book. Someday, I'd like to return and experience the Whiskey - the cocktail lounge part of The Muse. It was closed off, so I was unable to glance inside while at the cafe. This is a true historical Everett building that has a lot of meaning to many locals going back to the early days of the community. The views are wonderful from the back deck and the renovated office spaces are cozy and welcoming serving coffee and pastries. Enjoy watching the boats float by, take a walk along the water front and go in to get warm in a cozy chair. In the evening the building switches from coffee shop to speakeasy and is for someone wanting that special experience more than a meal. Warm wood, leather chairs and deep sofas. Exactly what you would expect from a high end prohibition era whisky bar that starts at $25 a cocktail and goes up. If your looking for an ultra rare shot of pre prohibition era whiskey they have it if your willing to pay the price. Hundreds of special bottles on display. Light finger foods and charcuterie plates are tasty but not inexpensive. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that can teach you all you need to know about their favorite drinks. if your looking for a very special upscale experience this is for you, If your looking for a filling meal and brew with the kids then perhaps the brewery up the street would be a better choice, both are great but very different experiences. read more

The food was really good. Hubby the candied salmon he rated an 8/10 only cause he said it needed a little something more but still good. We shared a meatballs and mash and said 10/10. Super flavorful and not an overwhelming porky flavor. (Not sure if they even include pork in it lol.) and the burrata salad was a 9.5/10 only cause the crostinis were like really burnt but the salad was great. Their chocolate cake was good, I give it a 8.5/10! It's a little dry but overall delicious meal and great time. It looks beautiful and has a classy vibe. In short Sensational setting and staff, spectacular bar program with lots of specialty selections, and the food is fine. In long It's literally a historic mansion, and they literally spent millions getting it back to its former glory (and ready for the modern age at the same time). You virtually always need a reservation. You drive out to the end of the pier and kind of feeling like you're setting off on a great voyage. Once you get there, you see the mansion, and then there are dozens of peaks in the national park across the huge saltwater expanse in front of you. People rarely get misty-eyed talking about places in Everett, but this is a genuinely gorgeous setting. You walk up big sturdy stairs and through big antique-looking leaded-glass double doors, under big timber framing. They don't build many like this these days. Warm polished hardwood floors run away in every direction. There's a big pastry case in front of you, and a delectable-smelling coffee bar off to the right. There are a few dining rooms past the coffee machinery. Off to the left is the bar. We had 2 people hustle by and greet us warmly--thankfully, they have evolved past the curt "do you have a reservation?" that used to be their standard greeting. We got the clear sense that they were happy to be there and happy to see guests arrive. We went around to the long, narrow bar area. It's bigger than any room in your house, most likely, but not the biggest barroom in town. About 8 stools at the bar, one table in a side room, and 4-5 little seating areas with loveseats and chairs. Not much in the way of water views from most bar seats, unfortunately. But if you appreciate nice old homes, you can certainly look at the 10-layer-deep molding and thick old windows in here and not get bored. There's a giant TV that probably has a ballgame on sometimes. We asked for the captain's list, and the bar manager got a kick out of serving us that way. He's a spirits geek, especially whisk(e)y. Fielding questions about their enormous list definitely requires geek-level spirits knowledge. There are bigger lists here and there, but not for many miles around here. They stock many rare and desirable bottles and are always adding to the library. We went through several rounds of small, neat pours--bourbon, rye, scotch, Japanese, and American whiskies. He was happy to guide us with open and/or specific questions, and gave detailed descriptions of everything he suggested. You have to have this person--all this knowledge, and also this approachable--to make such a stocked whiskey bar work. We also had tempura green beans and bone marrow. We finished every bite of both, and they're a nice change of pace from the usual tapas and pub grub on offer at most specialty bars. The charcuterie at the next table looked really good. I'd happily eat from this menu every time I come back, but the food has a little way to go before it's at the level of the bar. read more

Great place! Beautiful surroundings. Love the history behind the building. The cocktails were great and unique. The one thing that could be improved, would be the ability to serve coffee. As the DD for the night I really wish I could have been able to get a cup of joe. This is especially confusing as it is a coffee shop during the day. I would have paid $5 for a Keurig pod of coffee (just don't tell me it's just Keurig and I would play along). Anyway great place, just keep a pot on the burner and I would give it 5 stars. read more

My partner and I went to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and the Muse did not disappoint! I selected the spot because my partner loves his whiskey, and I thought there's gotta be "some" variety of whiskey he could try. I was wrong because the variety comes on an iPad that requires several scrolls to go through!! Even just for the Bourbon and Rye (his favs), that's at least a page and half to select from, and him, as someone who usually knows his $hit had decision paralysis for the very first time! Luckily, our waiter was very knowledgeable in whiskey, and she recommended that he starts with the flight (with his preference in mind) and we went from there (ps, The fav of the night was Rabbit Hole's Boxer Grail (Kentucky)-I hope I remember correctly). We ordered two food items to share, and it was just *chef's kiss* (Quick Update: it seems like who waits the table makes a whole world of difference especially if you don't know much about whiskey or that you need more info on the selections they have. Our neighbor didn't have the same wait staff experience so I thought I'd add this.) For anyone curious about the ambiance: this is about the first place that my partner didn't feel overwhelmed. It's quiet and cozy enough without loud music or obnoxious drunk people, and it was exactly what we needed for our special night. This coffee and bar is in the old Weyerhaeuser mansion on the Everett waterfront. They did an amazing job on the remodel to restore this building to its glory days. The layout is a bit wonky. If you come expecting a giant open air restaurant, you'll be confused as you walk through the front doors into an area that is a home entryway. My wife has made reservations online. Of which, you have to deposit $20 per person, which is credited towards your bill. This is my first experience ever having to do this. Perhaps it's to properly account for every table as the dining and bar area will only have a limited capacity. The north side of the building had separate rooms that accommodated various size parties. We opted to sit at the bar, which was beautifully decorated. The staff were so friendly and nice. They alone get 5*s. The food menu is a bit limited. The bar menu is robust with some unique mixed drinks. I ordered the Limonata. It's a lemon infused gin, limoncello, lemon curd, lemon juice, you get the drift. It's a lemony glass of deliciousness that wasn't overpowering and was so smooth. I'm not even a fan of gin and I liked this drink. We also ordered the ahi tuna. It came with taro chips. It was just ok. Like I said earlier, you come here for the drinks. Prices are a few dollars more than some other places for drinks but you're getting a unique ambience and experience. read more

The drinks were obviously over priced but nothing special about them. The furniture was aesthetically pleasing but no entertainment or music playing. The food was small and over priced. They did not taste like the best thing in the world for the prices they're charging. This whole place was catered to this rich population of boat owners in the area to drop even more money for sub-decent drinks. My husband and I ended up heading over to scuttlebutt and spent less than a quarter of the bill at MUSE and was able to get drunk there. read more

Wife and I visited the bar today with a 4pm reservation, which is required between 4 and 8pm. As the bar is quite intimate, this is not only understandable, but desirable, as it appears to keep the place from getting jammed. Our waitress, the general manager's wife (I'm sorry I can't remember her name), was just about the best waitress we've ever had. Her demeanor and timing were spot on. I had a whiskey. As I am no expert, I found the extensive whiskey menu to be overwhelming. So I chose one that was about $20 (low end) and that wasn't a name I recognized from every bar and restaurant I've been in (Black Saddle). It was awesome. However, I could've used a bit more guidance without having to feel like I had to ask the waitress for a lecture. Maybe a menu with suggestions for the layperson that uses descriptive language? My wife had the Dark Walnut, which is a killer whiskey cocktail from their menu. It would be a fantastic winter drink, but she also loved it on this sunny summer afternoon. For eats, we both had a spring greens salad. They didn't skimp on the pecans, strawberries, or goat cheese, so this was a satisfying choice. We split the chicken and veggie skewers, and while not as good as the ones my wife makes on the grill, were still delicious. At $90 before tip, it isn't a cheap date. But it is in line with Seattle prices, and you get to park for free right outside the establishment and take an after-meal stroll on the water. read more

Also, I've had some customer service issues here and there. The last visit the Stephen at the register was really condescending and refused to show us the bar area. Two years ago I peeked into this building and saw little of what it is today. At that time the building was empty and sterile, and the immediate surrounding area was devoid of any life or activity. Today we dropped by the newly opened Muse and were blown away. The Weyerhaeuser building has been artfully brought back to life, featuring amazing silk wallpapers, period wood furniture and an wine "vault" that you gotta see to believe. From the deck, the previously empty lot was filled with preparations for an outdoor concert that is probably just finishing up as Zi write this review. There are several reasons to visit this new space. The coffee bar and pastries hold great promise; unfortunately most of the menu items were still unavailable. However we did sample the attractive pastries that were said to come from the new sister bakery that is being simultaneously built nearby. Our Banana bread was moist and flavorful. In addition to coffee and light bites, there is an on-site speakeasy that we were told required reservations (though after 8:00 it is possible to walk in) - my guess is that it won't be easy to walk in once this place gets a regular following. We had a nice chat with the Executive Chef, Race, and he spoke excitedly of a sister restaurant, "Fisherman Jack's", due to open next month. Food will be upscale Chinese and American in nature. Everett's waterfront is becoming a real draw with Muse and the other establishments. read more

This is for coffee service. I came on a Saturday morning and had such high hopes! First, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Their online menu included several gluten free items. When I got there they were out of almost everything. I got a gf bagel but they didn't have cream cheese so my only option was to have it dry or with butter. My husband got a regular bagel sandwich but it came pre-packaged. We waited a LONG time for our drinks and food - we saw lots of folks arrive and leave after no one even acknowledged them. There is limited seating and it was mostly full so we took our drinks & food and walked along the shore. Our cortado drinks were good, food was meh. I'm not sure I'll make the trip back out for dinner but hopefully it's more organized at night. read more
