This place was beautiful. I highly recommend getting a table on the back patio and watching the sunset. I'm not a big whiskey drinker but there are plenty of other items on the menu for you to enjoy. I'm new to the area and have been looking for a place to chill and have a cup of coffee, and this may be the place! Today I had a cup of drip coffee and a savory scone - both were fresh and delicious. Lots of pastries to choose from and the full range of coffee/espresso drinks available. I'm sitting by a picture window looking at the docked sailboats and Jetty Island, as well as many pedestrians walking along a paved path - looks like the path winds around the harbor for a mile or so. Quiet place to read, comfortable sofas and chairs. Service was fast and friendly, seemed to be well staffed this morning. Venue is interesting: historic building, lots of wood, interpretive plaques, lots of windows, outside deck to watch the sunset or just enjoy being outside. Hidden away on the water in a really cool house looking building that you would never expect to be a coffee/whiskey place. Food/Beverage: I ordered the Rosemary Sage Latte which was not too sweet and perfectly balanced between coffee and milk with a beautiful rosemary aroma. They did not have very many food items available when I reached around 11am. Service: The barista was very friendly and helpful. After visiting the Funko Pop store in Everett, Washington we went to The Muse Whiskey & Coffee for an afternoon latte and a snack. The building the The Muse is in is the Weyerhaeuser Building the former HQ of the Weyerhaeuser Lumber and Shingle company. We visited this restaurant for use of a private room and were met with nice staff and rude management who were clearly under informed as to policies regarding the use of the private room and the business did not have a capable manager on staff to address the issues. It's a yes for me dawg. I went here on a Wednesday around 6pm when I had a 35 min gap between places I needed to be. Rookie mistake. I was seated immediately and my server was not happy that I wouldn't have time to explore the whole place, so he put my drink at the front of the line, brought my check, and encouraged me to walk around until I had to leave. I LOVED this solution and was so impressed at how he made sure I maximized my experience. I got a tiki drink with tequila and it was perfect. We were passing through and Mackenna from Scuttlebutt pub recommended the muse and told us we must go try it out. We walked over and just made it for coffee before they were closing for cleaning to open again for evening. They were very friendly and lets us walk around the house and the vault. This was a spot I have been wanting to try for quite some time. I went in the evening time to the bar but would love to visit in the day when it is a coffee shop. There is free two hour parking at the marina which makes getting here a breeze. This building has so much history and it was fun to grab a drink and explore the different rooms within it. Went in with a group on mom's night out holiday edition and immediately the bartenders gave me the ick. The location is beautiful and I had heard some good things so I was excited to give it a try. I'm 5' 2" and also have a bad back and shoulder issues, so when 5 of us were struggling to pull our seats back from the bar and one of the ladies made a joke, the bartender made a joke regarding it being a "field sobriety test." I was annoyed but was committed to having a fun time with my friends. I immediately noticed their horrible handling of the bar area by throwing things around and being just plain rude. Other patrons would also turn when they were doing something obnoxiously loud. They were easy to ignore but it was annoying nonetheless. My drink was nothing special for the price. If it had been amazing I wouldn't have minded but it was just okay. I think I would give it a try outside of bar hours but not anytime soon. I really hate when employees leave a bad impression because it makes supporting businesses difficult when they're rude for no reason. read more

This is a nice place to visit after a stroll around the water area. I just wished I went earlier to see more of their pastries. I got 3 pastries. One was the Apple Cinnamon, I think this was my favorite. It's pretty light and had some apples inside. Raspberry Cornetto was buttery and soft, light and not overly sweet. Great with morning coffee. Marrionberry Biscuit was suggested to me by the salesperson. Glad I took a chance, it's surprisingly buttery and not dry. My husband and I went there a few times and found it hard to find a place to sit. Once when we were at the counter ordering drip coffee the counter person was apparently training someone. She made us wait to place our order while she explained something to the trainee. She put her hand up and basically shushed us until she was finished. She then proceeded to tell us that the drip coffee was out, but then opened it and gave us the very bottom of the decanter instead of making new. The service unfortunately did complement the decor.. TJ was the only server, with only a bar back for support. All the tables were full, with a couple folks at the bar, so service was slow. The first dish we ordered they were out of, our water glasses were left empty for extended periods of time and no body came to ask how our food was, after we were served.. Not sure if they were short handed but waited in line for 30min and gave up. Wanted to really try the coffee but after observing while in line, the staff would take one order at a time and then complete the order before taking another order. If I were a manager seeing this, I would've trained the staff to clear the line or at least take several orders at a time so people can find seats and relax while waiting for their coffee and baked goods. The entire time I was there I was watching people give up waiting and leave. Super unfortunate as just a minor tweak in operating process would help the flow. Parking is timed and in gravel but it is fine. The place is cute...very cozy! I like all of the little rooms inside. Outside seating looks out to the water. The breakfast burrito is tiny and over priced even though we were told it was huge. It was like a large egg roll more than a burrito. The couple of times we tried to order lunch we were given excuses as to why it was not ready to be ordered so we gave up coming back to try it. The espresso martini is very good but it is $18. I inquired about it only to find out later it was added to my bill so when I received it I was surprised but we drank it. Everything is pricey though. The coffee I had was not good and did not taste like the name (toasted marshmallow). I asked for some more syrup and they added a little more which did not help at all. Another time we had the charcuterie board (expensive) but delicious. We had a couple of drinks and it was nice and relaxing even though it was pricey. We never leave full but it is a nice place to chill with a date or friend. I will go back but not for a hot lunch or when I am hungry or for coffee...lol! Wow! The ambiance in every room - including the restroom, is jaw-droppingly astounding! The history that comes with this remarkable Weyerhaeuser building is also fascinating. Getting here can be confusing with the surrounding construction, but once you make it the views of Jetty Island, Possession Sound, and the marina are well worth it! During the morning and day time hours the north side of the building is open and serves as the cafe with coffee, breakfast and bakery items, and limited libations. No full bar options, so our hopes of bloody Maria's and espresso martinis were crushed. We did get the champagne flight, which was fine. It's counter style ordering, so no table service and it's seat yourself. Mostly quaint and intimate 2-seater or solo seat options in the auxiliary rooms, and couches in the main room with a glorious fireplace. Service was ok. All but one barista gave off vibes like they'd rather be anywhere else but there, especially when their self-service water pitcher went empty. Asking for it to be filled in a 'so sorry to bother' way didn't soften or solicit a friendly or service based response with the gal behind the counter. However, when (what seemed to be the owners) were checking in, the demeanor and tone flipped a 180, which is why I'm giving only 3 stars. I'm hoping the unfriendly and slightly pretentious interactions were a one-off, and will try again for an evening visit. Lots of walk in to-go coffee orders, and more working/study in sweats clientele than expected but it was comfortable to be in a casual environment. Not sure the food is what will bring me back (aside from being deterred by service), but I'm willing to see if The Muse can match the wonder of the amazing atmosphere they've preserved. read more
