Two years ago I peeked into this building and saw little of what it is today. At that time the building was empty and sterile, and the immediate surrounding area was devoid of any life or activity. Today we dropped by the newly opened Muse and were blown away. The Weyerhaeuser building has been artfully brought back to life, featuring amazing silk wallpapers, period wood furniture and an wine "vault" that you gotta see to believe. From the deck, the previously empty lot was filled with preparations for an outdoor concert that is probably just finishing up as Zi write this review. There are several reasons to visit this new space. The coffee bar and pastries hold great promise; unfortunately most of the menu items were still unavailable. However we did sample the attractive pastries that were said to come from the new sister bakery that is being simultaneously built nearby. Our Banana bread was moist and flavorful. In addition to coffee and light bites, there is an on-site speakeasy that we were told required reservations (though after 8:00 it is possible to walk in) - my guess is that it won't be easy to walk in once this place gets a regular following. We had a nice chat with the Executive Chef, Race, and he spoke excitedly of a sister restaurant, "Fisherman Jack's", due to open next month. Food will be upscale Chinese and American in nature. Everett's waterfront is becoming a real draw with Muse and the other establishments. read more

Overall great experience, and I don't think anything else compares in Everett for the atmosphere and offerings, and certainly the view from the back deck/patio. Came for coffee at 11:30am on a weekday--was busy but not too busy to find a seat. Drinks came quickly and were good. One bit of feedback (that I will also pass on more directly than this review) is the lack of utensils! I wanted a fork for my scone and wanted a spoon for my mocha and only coffee stirrers or straws were available--I think maybe they might have them but just ran out. I do recommend this coffee shop and I have had really good coffee here. I love that they have pastries, but sometimes they just don't seem to have enough for late commerce. Also, I've had some customer service issues here and there. The last visit the Stephen at the register was really condescending and refused to show us the bar area. She said we need to come back at night if we wanna see it. Whole point was to see it and see if we want to come back in the evening. read more

What a fun spot on the water in the Weyerhauser Building! The decor is fabulous...swanky speakeasy! We had a smattering of artfully crafted cocktails and they were delicious. Don't let the "Whiskey" in the name fool you as there are plenty of libations sure to suit a non-whiskey lover. We had a good snicker when a friend ordered "The Affair". I'm a gin lover so stuck with Clover Club #2. This place is charming and very nice inside. They are taking good care of the place and the location is nice and kind of isolated and relaxing! I didn't get to try any of the drinks but also because it is so, so pricey! In addition, we tried a lot of the dishes and they weren't that good, also very pricey. Tried this place twice, once for coffee and once for a business meeting. I love the interior. The building is the old Weyerhaeuser office and the interior has plaques and photos painting some of the buildings history. The interior is broken down into several rooms (it is a historic building) with comfy chairs, tables and in one room a fireplace. There is outside seating but it has not yet been warm enough when I've been there to check it out. Drinks were awesome, had an excellent old fashioned and a delicious Irish coffee (it is a whiskey bar). Food selection is very limited, (pastries during the day and appetizers at night) and I'd imagine that may be because it is a historic building which would limit the kitchen area. Service was excellent and Brock stopped by multiple times in the evening to check on the table. Absolutely will return, however two things to note though they do close between 4 pm to 5 pm to switch from coffee to cocktails. And it's a while great place to meet friends for conversation, food wise, not a really dinner destination. read more

This is for coffee service. I came on a Saturday morning and had such high hopes! First, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Their online menu included several gluten free items. When I got there they were out of almost everything. I got a gf bagel but they didn't have cream cheese so my only option was to have it dry or with butter. My husband got a regular bagel sandwich but it came pre-packaged. We waited a LONG time for our drinks and food - we saw lots of folks arrive and leave after no one even acknowledged them. There is limited seating and it was mostly full so we took our drinks & food and walked along the shore. Our cortado drinks were good, food was meh. I'm not sure I'll make the trip back out for dinner but hopefully it's more organized at night. read more

Second time there. Service was on point. 4pm- reservation required. Pay for reserved seat and money goes toward bill. Ordered a drink but wasn't a fan. They happily remade it. Not fake happy but curious to create art happy. I craved what I had previously. I described that- and, it met my memory and satisfied the desire for bitter, sweet, and a little tangy. Better than the first time we went. I think it was because it was earlier in the day and less busy. Glad to be there! Had time before being seated and walked around. Lo and behold we were brought 4 paper cups with plastic lids. Note to business- how about asking customer "paper or porcelain cup"? Was very disappointed to be adding waste to the landfill. Let me first say, the speakeasy is really unique! Walking up to it is really beautiful and the location is defiantly a hidden gem! I came during sunset and it's absolutely gorgeous. The colors of the sky from any window you look out is absolutely breathtaking. It helped that it was an absolutely gorgeous day! The staff was very friendly and accommodating if you're looking for a great day or night out it's a perfect place to go to have individual rooms, so it can definitely be very intimate. I ordered Albert Hubbard wonderful drink if you like a little kick! Not too overpowering just the right amount of ingredients. However, the reason why I gave it 4. Not five stars is the food selection and specifically the items I ordered price was for the charcuterie, $32. It seems like they added whatever was leftover in the kitchen. They said they were out of some stuff and they make them seasonally. But garlic cloves and marinated mushrooms for Brie and truffle cheese isn't my thing with a huge piece of Gorgonzola cheese. Now I am not a fan of Gorgonzola but if I did like it I could only imagine it would be in limited quantities? The only fruit to accompany was grapes and oranges which I also found a little flat. I had three pieces of salami and three pieces of prosciutto for meat and the rest was what I felt like was filler items. I wouldn't recommend the charcuterie unless you ask, what's gonna be on it? Other than that, I would say beautiful spot come here and have drink definitely! Before or after a meal. You won't regret that! As for food, I think they should just stick with drinks maybe a little appetizers or even a smaller version of a charcuterie board. read more

Specifically regarding the coffee and breakfast side: They have a very limited menu that is inaccurately reflected online, the service is poor and overpriced, inventory was sporadic on the items that were on their menu. They expect 20-30% tip for an order you have to walk up to make and a bagel that they don't even spread the cream cheese on. For drinks we ordered a hisbuscus lemonade and berry Italian soda and I can say they were hands down the worst drinks I've had from a barista or restaurant. It tasted like the soda they used was flat, and ingredients were neglected. Hopefully they can get better management and staffing because it's a beautiful place. read more

This place has been a favorite since it opened. We go there often. I request it on my birthday. However today that changed. We went in, there was a line. My boyfriend got in line and I started to go look at the seating situation. If there weren't enough seats for everybody else and us we would have just gone somewhere else, no problem. I was certainly not going to cut in front of the 6 people in line for a seat. Only a rude person would do that. And I was a server for years, I know how this should work. But the server today, chin length dark brown hair, assumed I was both rude and stupid. She gave me a loud lecture on not cutting in front of people, in front of everyone. It was very embarrassing. They have converted the old payroll safe into a wine and spirits vault and stocked it with hard (or impossible) to find offerings that come from places the likes of now closed F. X. McCrory's, the iconic bar that graced Pioneer Square forever. The bartenders know what they're doing, and the service is first rate. Going on a date? The building is beautiful, view is beautiful, and our server was friendly and really good about communicating with us, whether he'd be with us soon, food is coming soon, here are your drinks while you wait, etc. I love the comfy chairs and couches. They had an event so we couldn't go out to the patio and come to find out, the speak-easy style bar is by reservation only, luckily we were able to be seated at a window without a reservation. The smoked salmon appetizer and drinks were delicious. I looked at the reservation system to consider making future reservations then saw that they don't guarantee a cushy seat and may seat us at the bar and stopped there. We will only enjoy the cushy seats or patio seating. If I make plans with friends and reservations and get escorted to the bar, we would leave and we definitely don't want to experience that disappointment or awkwardness. We will likely stop in again to check availability because we frequently are in the area but will not reserve without a commitment from them in return. read more

I've been coming to The Muse since they opened and it's consistently the best coffee and service I've had in Everett or the surrounding area. I take my niece with me every Sunday and they recognize us and her usual drink order--hit chocolate, no whip--she's obsessed with it. It's really good hot chocolate; if I weren't so addicted to caffeine I'd be ordering it myself. I've had a variety of their drinks and they all impress, and the food they get from South Fork is great. They know their coffee, staff is very friendly, and the building itself is very charming. They didn't spare any detail on the renovation.
