Wow! My daughter and I were visiting from Midcoast, and booked mani-pedis for ourselves. Peter cared for my daughter's pedicure while I was in the next chair being treated to a spa mani-pedi by Kim H. my daughter had a special request for her nails, so Thao offered her time and expertise to my daughter's manicure. We felt so special, and could tell that they were giving us their undivided attention during our treatments. We both left feeling like it was our best nail experience since moving to Maine! We went in. It was mother/daughter day. We were separated & I had 2 different pros doing my Pedi/Mani. It was not comfortable & I was dipped at least 6-7 times. Unfortunately a father brought in 2 sons 1 who was super loud, screeching, & making other annoying noises at which time I was having icepick headaches. I wanted out of that chair. It only made our day from par to horrible due to the stressors. If you have a child who is going to be loud & cause stress you should call ahead for a private time or go to a place that is used to noisy behaving clients which is not what you want from a Mani/Pedi visit. Practioners would have been fathers better option. It was a bad day. My daughter's nail pointed toward the right, totally sideways & needed to be redone. She mentioned this but was ignored. It was late appt. times & it was obvious everyone wanted to be done for that day. I totally understand but stop taking any walk-ins if you aren't up for doing a perfect manicure/pedicure. The first dip was only 2 times & 2nd appt. time was 6+. It was unfun & I hoped we had found a new place. Bummer! 1st Pedi was perfect, unrushed & quiet. The man with the sons didn't use common sense, the spa should have told them we are not taking any more clients & it is closing time. Comment on talking in own language, yes, that's uncomfortable. It's like 2 sophomoric friends treating another like a 3rd wheel, this is annoying & not the best in business savvy. Scheduling mishaps: Wait times are to be expected here so be prepared to spend more time here than you 'officially scheduled'. Thao (owner) expects you to wait with patience and without complaining. Unprofessionalism: Thao has tremendous difficulty managing her nail techs as she allows them to use their native language to quietly gossip about clientele directly in front of clientele. The negative vibe amongst the staff throughout the salon is obvious. Lack of expertise: Unfortunately the lack of talent amongst the many nail techs is disappointing as well. You will receive services that are 'higher priced' than other salons yet no better quality than elsewhere. Why pay more for mediocre? Seek a more professional salon. read more

Updated review because I tried waxing services. Mani/pedi services are great as always, first waxing experience terrible. I am recovering from my first brow & lip wax there. I told the provider that I only needed a monthly clean-up and had sensitive skin. The skin lifted and one of my eye orbits has bruised entirely, with some red abraded spots in the inside corner of that eye. I'll be looking elsewhere for waxing in the Kennebunk area. This time, I was disappointed that I had to wait 30 minutes for a pedicure despite having made an appointment. There were a few appointments ahead of mine that were also waiting 30 minutes or more for their service. As always, the employees are super courteous and attentive. I talked with the ower and she said she would not fix this as it has been two weeks.... Arrived at the nail salon to find out she had taken another appointment and put me with an older gentleman that didn't quite seem to know how to do dip nails. Peter was my tech and he was rude and hurt me. I mentioned this while I was checking out and the receptionist seemed apologetic. I was there the week before and had a fantastic pedicure with one of the female techs. When I went to schedule another manicure I requested to not be placed with Peter and the lady on the phone said that this could not be guaranteed/he may be the only one available. I understand everyone is short staffed, but if a client is willing to give your business another chance after a terrible experience, you would imagine they would try to accommodate. I just moved to the area and was excited to find a new nail salon, unfortunately Thao will not be that place. I went there for a manicure and dip and was very disappointed in the service I received. She cut my nails way to short and then put a tip on one that broken and it is longer then all the other nails. The color I chose doesn't look anything like the sample. It still shows my nail tips. Plus she kept rolling her eyes because I guess I didn't relax enough and then talking to her coworkers in a there native language, which I find very disrespectful. I won't be returning there.
